The Feline Who Wasn't There Egg
A creamy ivory egg lies on its side in the middle of the clutch, surrounded by its fellows. On the smallish side, as far as Jenryth's eggs go, this egg seems to be basking in the heat from the sands. Those looking at it from the stands might remark upon how plain this egg is, but walk around the egg and two yellow eyelike splotches stare at you from a dark brown splotch that looks very much like a feline about to pounce. If you think hard, that is. There might not be a cat there at all.

Midnight Fog Egg
Shadows creep ever closer to the apex of this large egg, spreading the inky wash of a night without moons across the shell. Only the occasional flash of silver suggests stars dance within the ebony. This black, as dark as the depths of Crom, sidles upwards in fingers of Cimmerian and sable: somber hands reaching up into the mantle of pale and gentle fog blanketing the top of the egg.

Abandoned Dock at Night Egg
Concealing mist creeps over rounded sides, wrapping this egg in a pale shroud of murky tendrils. Dark, gloomy beige coats the lower half, a rickety purchase, with stormy blue-grays churning fitfully about the dark stained wood hue. Eerily unsettled, mist hangs low over the rest of the scene, colors dark but without true hue, tending more towards faint tints within gray shadings, all captured stilly on the face of this otherwise unremarkable egg.

Treasure Map Egg
The warm shade of aged parchment provides the crinkled looking base color for this medium sized egg. A fine web working of inky blue dashes itself over and under, around and about leaving a path that shows up very well on the ecru hue. The trail of indigo marks seems to have no distinct staring point but it is hard to miss the place where it finishes, near one of the ends, in a large stylized X.

Mystery Meat Egg
Blockishly round, a hunk with blunted ends, this egg sits roasting on hot sands, to be turned occasionally by its dam in the absence of a spit. The colors are drab: deep brown brushed with blackened streaks, and overlaid with a honeyed color that looks like it was splatted across the top and left to dribble down. The whole thing has an almost moist look, or maybe it's just a visual effect from the heat.

Hound of the Bakercraft Egg
Dark and muggy, swirls of peat gray and deep rich greens dance with a fuzzy darkness near black over the surface of this egg. Near one end of the egg there are two points that break the constant swirls, not sharp dots, but fuzzy ones of a dull, glowing red. They are positioned just over the end, and when viewed from straight on, take on the eerie quality of a pair of eyes peering back out of the darkness of the egg.

Canine's Clue Egg
Pale blues and shades of green swirl over most the surface of this egg. It lays over in the sands, mostly on its side, allowing a good view of an odd, oversized mark, in a darker blue. Most would agree that it bares a distinct resemblance to a canine's paw print. There are a few other marks as well, also in blue, a round spot on the opposite side and a pair of curved splotches that could be argued to look almost like a hounds ears near the top of the narrow end.

Childs Drawing Egg
A small ovoid this egg is, though its diminutive stature isn't grounds for the array of hues it could boast. Boast it does, indeed, for the entire shell is a battle of shades, crimson reds waging fiercely against the bordering yellows, which give way however reluctantly to dark blues. There seems to be a strange aura surrounding this ovoid, though, and it shows that at the very top of the egg is a singular blackened spot, as though heat had risen and charred it. Mysterious this one might be, and whatever it holds is to be found out soon enough.

Who stole the Cookie? Egg
Light, golden brown drops in an even, circular pattern, each rough edged circle tangent to those around it. The rounded, colored spaces sit on a field of clean swept white, their tanned shades interrupted only by flecks of deep umber. Startlingly, the precise pattern is interrupted near the crown of the chubby egg, light brown markings stolen from their place, leaving blank, pristine shell. But by who? Was it you?

Where Babies Come From Egg
Looking like the answer to a child's question, this small egg leans companionably against the purple Steward's egg out on the edges of the clutch. The sand side of the egg is a deep, rich burgundy red, but the color lightens quickly to a candy pink on the opposite side. A big red misshapen dot is smack in the middle of the pink as if to give the dragon inside a place to start tapping when the time comes.

Gothic Line Art Egg
This medium-sized egg broods in the shadows near the back of the clutch. It's difficult to say whether it's a black egg with white markings, or a white egg with black markings; from a distance, it seems to be gray. A closer inspection, though, reveals a highly complex pattern of black lines, lattices, and hatchmarks over a white background. Solid patches of black here and there give form to the pattern, suggesting here a figure lurking behind a tree, there a willowy woman in a white dress. A circular white patch serves as a 'moon' illuminating the half-imagined tableau.

Banded Serpentine Egg
Most unusual, indeed! Though relatively small, and half-buried in the sand, this egg has such striking markings that it still manages to catch the eye. The basic color seems to be a sort of beige-tan...but this relatively dull hue is interrupted by shocking bands of bright, serpentine green, speckled with flecks of vivid crimson. The bands wrap around the egg, forming almost perfect rings, ensnaring the shell in coils of blood-speckled jade.

Hidden in the Dark Egg
Shadows and gloom lurk over the shell of this rounded ovoid, hiding what doesn't wish to be seen from prying eyes. If one stares long enough they may claim to see darkened, lurking shapes etched in the dimness, silhouettes of all yet to be discovered, there, and then not. Little is definite about this egg of secrecy, all is unsure, unproven, unknown, but the eternal shadow cloaking it, light never reaching it's depths.

Last Carob Candy Egg
Imagine one of those parcels of carob covered candies people buy for their mothers or sweethearts at gathers, the ones that come with a little scrap of text mapping where the caramels, the nuts, the gooey centers, and the fruit filled delights are. When it comes down to the last candy the little map is always obsolete, for this candy has been nudged around and is long out of place so there is no telling if it is a yummy nut or an icky molasses chew? This egg is covered in a melt in the mouth shade of brown and could easily have been poured out by a baker's spoon if not for the whole egg on the hatching sands thing. There is even a little decorative swirl on the top where the spoon would have touched off and left it's mark. Of course, much like the last carob candy there is no telling what's under the smooth cover.

Scarlet with the Knife Egg
Rustling in pleated waves across shelled expanse, intense carmine and vermilion hues are draped. Shadow accents each fold in the rippling color that spreads over this egg, it's slightly thin, tall statue fully clothed in the ruddy shades. The very base seems ruffled, as does the very top, and the tincture is uninterrupted, but for a very abrupt, almost hidden slash near the bottom of one side. There appears an almost concealed flash of silver, harsh against the surrounding scarlet elegance.

Another Dimension Egg
You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination, a dimension beyond that which is known. It is a dimension both vast and timeless, a dimension of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. This egg, straight and slim in the sands, is at once both dark and multicolored, subtle flecks of pastel pigments finding their way across every space of near-ebony shell. From afar, it may be the timeless image of a lightly speckled egg, but closer inspection reveals the wonder contained within every striation. The caverns' light deceives to cast a glowing shimmer upon the shell, dotted groupings forming pictures in the mind. At one side, towards the bottom, might exist the resemblance of a small signpost; another, above, seems to portray a spiraling whirl of glimmering freckles.

Wisps of Silk Egg
Pale blue and yellow brush against one another over the whole shell of this smallish egg, which keeps close company with its fellows near one end of the grounds. Like wisps of fabric, a curtain light and soft as silk, the streaks of color touch but never blend. There's a certain allure that attends them even in their simplicity: what do they conceal?

Majesty of the Night Sky Egg
Have you ever taken a blanket out into the bowl or out on the fireheights at night and lay on your back, staring up at the sky? This large egg is a deep midnight satin blue color shading to lighter blue around the bottom. The texture of the eggshell creates tiny breaks in the blue at intervals, like stars in a night sky. Close to the center of the clutch, this egg is pillowed on a rise of sand formed by that displaced by the eggs around it.

Brewing Tempest Egg
A very light, crisply toned green dominates this egg, though it seems to fade to a certain blue-tinged gray at certain points. The green is an uneasy color - though not disruptive, it seems to be out of place - perhaps this egg was meant to be blue, or gray, but this different sort of murky lime overcame it instead. The dull blue markings whisper through the base color in flowing trails, gathering at the sides of the egg to form darker, sharp patches. The blue deepens to a blurry, hazy gray, the separation of colors becoming unclear even as your gaze registers. The entire egg seems to be coated in a screening gray mist, forming a dreary, yet beguiling veil to be lifted.

Shadow Clue Egg
This egg is dark, oh so dark! It makes one think of walking into a dark room without any light. Except....when one gazes closer one sees that there is a lighter shaping of color toward the bottom, like some shadowy object is laying on the floor of that dark room. It could be a murder weapon...it could be anything. The possibilities are endless as to what this egg could be.

Wanderer's Will-o-Wisp Egg
Fey light flickers to green across the surface of this shadow swept egg, as if wicked tongues of marsh-fire licked the shell to taste its darkness. The fickle touches of hunter's green and ghostly silver flash against the drowning underbrush: their dance somehow both arcane and alluring, their seductive song unheard. The velvet promise of dusky seclusion blurs all color and tempts the unwary traveler from their chosen path.

Noir Egg
This grainy egg is predominantly black, with a few swirls of ash-grey curving their way up one side in an irregular fashion, much like a strand or two of smoke. Closer inspection would show that the 'grey' areas are comprised of tiny sand-grain sized flecks of white, intermingled with the black.

Black Widow Spinner Egg
Despite the fact that this egg is so dark of hue that the shadows of the hatching caverns seem to lurk around it (instead of the other way around) there is an engaging quality to it that insinuates it into attention. Close inspection will reveal that it is not really just ebony in color, although that is the most common hue that seems to underlie all others. There is scarlet here in the form of small hourglasses like found on the belly of a deadly spinner. There is also gold, mixed in with the black and sometimes seemingly making the nacreous shade or perhaps just spinning it into a fine web from which there is no return.

Dark Footprint Trail Egg
A sort of light creamy color dominates this egg, but appearances are deceiving. Very deceiving as in this case when one looks closer, dark footprint-type shapes, so dark they are nearly black, cover this egg from tip to toe. The footprints could be those of that suspect you're trailing...or they could just be footprints. Wonder what the dragon inside will be like? Now that's a real mystery.

Magnifying Glass Egg
Of medium size, this particular egg would risk going unnoticed if it didn't possess such a dramatic pattern. Far from vividly colored, the shell is shaded in tones of gray-tinged beige and off-white, along with darker hues that stamp lines and curves throughout the ovoid. These deep streaks of gray are, in some places, arranged as very short, tiny pieces that march across the shell's roundness in nearly uniform procession. To form other sections, abrupt arcs cut through the segments, their edges encircling altered replicas of the same lines and dashes - nearly identical, but extremely enlarged. Here, the different striations and shades of gray are evident, and the slightly blurry, magnified edges seem to have a crimson tint. This dramatic pattern of smaller and larger streaks follows throughout the egg, forming an abstract work to be decoded.

Nabolese Wherry Egg
This egg smolders upon the sands all smooth and silken black in appearance. It has a distinctively carved appearance so that if looked at from just the right angle it bears some resemblance to a proud nabolese wherry that's glancing off into the distance. Perhaps the largest of the clutch, this egg stands a full handwidth taller than most and maybe it's just it's dark presence but the other eggs seem to leave it well alone as if knowing that it's the harbinger of trouble.

Ten Little Holders Egg
If you were to imagine a decorative Turn's End holiday egg painted by a child in blue and orange, this might be the perfect example. Most of the medium sized shell is a deep cerulean blue, and from a distance two bands of orange shading into brown in places looks somewhat like interesting holiday woven trim. Up close, however, the trim resolves into blobs that for those with a good imagination look uncannily like people in various poses. Ten can be found in all, six around the top, four around the bottom as the egg is buried at a slight angle in the hatching sands.

Under The Limitless Moons Egg
Whether this egg could be determined to actually be an egg, or something of another topic is a mystery to be explained. Swirling hues of bold blues and vibrant yellow ghost one side of the shell, while the other remains startling -- blank. Yes, the other side is devoid of any carelessly flung shades of bold magnitude, covered only with a soft, almost creamy light orange. Close to the top of the egg is an image of which is debatable: to some it might appear as the waning moons of Pern, though to others it could just appear as merely splotches of slightly darker orange.

Wise Herbalist Egg
As if wrapped in a rough set a robes; streaks in various hues of brown cast shadows resembling folds of cloth over the surface of most of this egg. However on the end of the egg that stands clear of the sand is a fairly round patch of palest cream, containing another circle that seems closer to a fleshy peach. The other end is mostly buried in the sand, but closer examination shows that it turns to shades of green. There are other places on the surface where there are traces of other colors as well. One place resembling a small needlethorn while another almost matches the appearance of a purple flower from a redwort plant.

Get a Clue Egg
This egg is difficult to describe to visitors, but the word 'colorful' certainly comes to mind. Its oblong body is stouter than most eggs are, but no longer than average. The background color is pure black, with random patterns of white, scarlet, plum, mustard-yellow and green. They explode across the surface of the egg violently, fighting each other for dominance. A short muted gray streak, a narrow golden one, a long ivory coil of color and a tiny patch of steel-gray are between each of the colorful patterns, but why?

Mystery Machine Egg
This egg is lying on its side, as if trying to hide from view. It has a pale blue background, with psychedelic swirls of green around it, and smaller eye-searing orange patches that could be blooming flowers. Four black round daubs are at the bottom, and a squared-off translucent patch is on the narrow tip of the egg, almost providing a window to see what's inside.

The Revered Relic Egg
Another large egg in the clutch, this one is covered with very diffuse and washy areas of jewel colors; red, blue, green, and yellow, like colored glass panes in the sun. A straggly mark in red drips down the side of this egg, like someone let candle wax fall. Buried to its middle in the sand, the slightly broader bottom of the egg has been upended, its rounded shell hiding a treasure within.

It's Elementary, My Dear Candidate Egg
A rather large egg, this carrier of Jenryth's offspring has enough support from the sand carefully pushed around it to be absolutely vertical in bearing. Most of its shell is the color of yellowed old lace, but a brownish splotch over the top makes the egg look as if it were wearing an odd sort of hat with parts front and back that should stick out, but instead have been attached crookedly to conform to the egg's surface. On one side a smudged charcoal gray tipsy line is reminiscent of a grandfather's pipe smoke as it rises to disappear at the apex of the egg. What color dragon might hatch out of this egg? Why, it's elementary, my dear candidate!

The Truth Egg
Can you handle the truth? Somewhere on the sands, hidden just enough so that only one rounded end protrudes mysteriously into sight, giving a teasing glimpse of a burnished and reflective shell this egg bides it's time. Because so much of the shell is hidden it's impossible to tell if this egg is small or large, pretty or ugly, golden or bronzed. The truth of this egg will reveal itself as the real nature of every egg does, on hatching day. For now the Truth Egg is out there.

The Steward's Image Egg
This medium sized egg sits at the edge of the clutch, its sandy nest making it lean in toward the others as if it were trying to listen to what they had to say. The shell is colored a swirling mass of purplish shades from light yet nauseating grayish purple at the top to deep and mysterious bluish purple at the bottom. Only at the very tip of the egg does the purple give way to bone white, the smile of an unctuous and oily steward.
