Life Clock's Rosette Egg

Lhiannonth shifts her weight restlessly, hovering over a natural indentation in the sands. Contractions ripple across her hide but it's a few moments of strained wait before the appearance of a petite, red egg. She gives it a little nudge before leaving it to Leiventh's ministrations, retreating to the fringes of the clutch, lying down, and closing her eyes. That, it seems, is that.

This egg is not one to draw the eye but it is handsome in its own subtle way, being petite, round and richly shaded. Its surface is tinted a crimson deep enough to conjure thoughts of blood or fine vintages of wine, ringed with swirls of sinister red-black. A single unwinking eye mars one side of the little sphere, a circle of diluted cerise that creates the optical illusion that a light is focused on the shell from the inside.

Giving a last shake, Life Clock's Rosette Egg slowly keels over on its side, a visible crack splitting the shell cleanly in half. Staying still for but a few moments, the top half of the overturned shell pops off, being replaced with the small head of an icy blue. Looking slightly disoriented from the tumble, the blue remains seated in the bowl of the shell, slowly surveying the events around him.

Eternal Witness Blue

Small in stature, minute in size, and fragile in wing, this hatchling possesses a build of proportion, but in miniature. Offsetting his diminutive appearance, a hide of brilliant abyssal, mottled with dapples of slate. Further along his slender flanks, the tone takes on a crystalline form, blending and shifting with the shadows cast by the contours of back and limb. Along behind his back, his long tail is frosted with a dusty azure, highlighted with a trailing spattering of dusky ash. Headknobs of an icy indigo perch atop a narrow muzzle, covering a pair of eyes that display a deep wisdom, expressive in their intelligence. This hatchling holds an inquisitive air, features often arranging themselves in one of wonder at the many surprises of the world.

Temperament

This young blue will always have a head for adventure, especially in his younger years. Though actually as smart as he looks, this will occasionally go to his head and cause him to do things that you know very well he's incapable of doing. « No Eniolth! You do it like -this-. » Quite often this ends up with quite demoralizing crashes and failures, though they probably affect you more then him, as soon after Carulith is back up to his old tricks. As he ages, he will start using the intelligence he's been gifted with to think before he acts, but still will be unlikely to maintain this good behavior for long (despite the fact that he doesn't see what he's doing as less than sterling behavior.)

Loyal to you for life, he will sporadically tell others your inner opinions, despite the fact that you weren't saying them for a reason! Any reprimand will go right over Carulith's head, returned to you with what seems like an insincere apology before he's right back to his old tricks. This isn't because he's rude or even badly behaved (in his mind at least), just that whatever it is he's doing doesn't seem to strike him as a bad thing, and thus he has no qualms with going with his gut feelings. He will develop an almost annoying habit of following you around, almost to what seems to be an obsession, making an odd sight if a blue head pokes into the caverns from the bowl if you're in eating or socializing. While others may find it endearing, it wouldn't be unlikely for you to find it the exact opposite, sometimes trying to avoid him to get some private time (and usually failing!)

Carulith will mature at an equal pace with the other dragons, despite the somewhat noticeable size difference. Whether or not this is true, however, will be skewed by his almost fear of greens, instead laying all his affections on you (no matter on your urgings for the otherwise). As he ages more, this will become less of a fear, but he will never play the part of the flirting blue, only willing himself to fly greens he respects and knows. (Though occasionally, the mating urge will overpower his reserve and he'll just go all out after an unknown green.) If he catches a green, he'll remain faithful to her, almost to the level of a dragon with a gold mate on the sands, in spite of the fact that the green cannot clutch.

Public Impression Message

Eternal Witness Blue turns his head this way and that, surveying the lines of candidates with unhurried urgency. Finally seeming to find his match, Eternal Witness Blue wanders up to a blue-eyed brunette and looks deep into her eyes.

Private Impression Message

Faint curls of thought creep along your subconscious, the thoughts of the hatching fleeting memories in an instant. The unnatural silence is shattered with a shrill sound reverberating around your head. « Hello Steorra, I am Carulith, we are one. » The shrill tones slowly fade, being replaced by lower, more urgent ones. « Come! We must get me food. I am hungry. »

Mindvoice

An almost shrill tenor ringing through your head signaling a comment of something or other from this blue. Using precise in its clarity and punctuation, a thin, nasally whine sometimes shines through when he doesn't get his way. Visually, faint splashes of blues and gold surround the thought, sometimes hurried in their delivery, but always of utmost purity. When in a philosophical mode, he may drop the trill to his mindvoice, the deep observations usually surprising even you.

Dragon Inspirations

The inspiration for this dragon is from the character Lovelock from the book, aptly named 'Lovelock' by Orson Scott Card with Kathryn Kidd. Lovelock, in the book, is a genetically- and cybernetically enhanced Capuchin monkey. His loyalty and someone adventurous personality seemed like a good basis for a blue.

Egg Inspiration: The inspiration for this egg was drawn from the crystal "handflowers" or "lifeclocks" implanted in the hands of the characters of "Logan's Run".
