Long and well-proportioned, this green might seem sturdy were it not for the angles that make up her frame. Faded carbon sweeps through the chrome green of her hide, leaving deeper strokes of deadly smog in its wake similar to creases and ripples brushed over her form. Her sharp muzzle leads to narrow, hooded eyes that lend her an air of perpetual displeasure, her burnt olive neckridges neat and clean cut. To the left of her spine runs a shadowy, jagged line, beginning midway along her back and running to just shy of the thinning of her tail: an old scar. Slim wingspars match joints so plain to see as to seem almost unprotected, the same smoky haze that smothers her wingsails drifting over the underside of her limbs. Only her large paws and the very tip of her tail permit any trace of light to touch her, glossy opal splashed haphazardly over both. Upon closer inspection, her right forearm is not quite straight, but crooked, as though once broken.
Ancient Patterned Metal Egg
Shaded like dull metal, aged by salt and sea to a deep grey-blue, this egg is slender and very precisely curved, like a masterwork creation designed by a talented smith's loving hands. An intricate pattern in a lighter shade of grey weaves across the egg's surface, curling and darting in a design not unlike a collection of leaves and flowers, and mottled darker in places, as though it has been rusted over. Along one side, there is an elongated s-shape, traced out in shadow from the rest, acting as if like a hammer to another, more rectangular shape nearby. The egg itself is average in size, and otherwise unremarkable.
A piece of shell blows right off of the Ancient Patterned Metal Egg, and then it seems to implode within itself, leaving the startled green within tangled in her own limbs, and blinking owlishly around her. Goodness! She manages to compose herself enough to get on her feet within a few moments, and then she darts off across the sands in quite the tizzy, until tall Ebeny, nearly twenty-five turns old, attracts her attention: Impression is a certainty. "Laurienth!" she cries out, ecstatic.
Egg Inspiration: This egg was inspired by the flintlock, particularly those designed for beauty as well as usefulness. The flintlock was introduced in 1630, and remained in use, in various forms, until the early to mid 19th century. The term 'flintlock' refers to the firing mechanism: flintlock guns could be any kind of small arm, including pistols, smoothbores, muzzleloaders and breechloaders.
