Ripples spread across the taut hide of this antiqued queen, subtle sunbursts that add a lustrous sheen to her deeply golden hue. Long, lanky-limbed, she's the product of her sire's lineage: not only the lean muscle laid over her bones' thin framework, but an indolent confidence inherent in her bearing. Palely tipped ridges drift up and down her length, whimsically spaced; her wings tilt at leisurely angles that catch both air and light, their sunlight-in-water wingsails stretched between insubstantial spars. It's only her bright eyes that ground her, genetic arrogance tempered by curiosity and a certain, near-constant blue-tempered steadfastness.

Hatching Message
When the golden egg begins to shake, the loose cluster of girls around it tightens. One intrepid girl even takes a few steps closer. Its hatching is quick, the shell flying as the dragon within breaks free. One sharp piece cuts that girl's cheek like shrapnel, though no one seems to notice as a deeply-hued queen emerges.
As True as the Tide Gold
Ripples spread across the taut hide of this antiqued queen, subtle sunbursts that add a lustrous sheen to her deeply golden hue. Temperament
From the moment she shelled, to the moment she entered your head permanently, Iesaryth was hatched for you. She knew it even during that leisurely, if watchful, walk of hers, while she so carefully inspected the candidates arrayed before her so carefully - not just physically, but also mentally - with fleeting mental touches that passed through minds largely too distracted to recognize it. You noticed from the start. You were /different/. And in that difference of hearing her tides and smelling her salt-sea mind, you've captured her loyalty forever.
She's a study of contrasts: both calculating and carefree, intelligent and somnolent, secretive and an open book, free-spirited and yet somehow filled with a depth that belies that superficiality. She lacks the ability to be devious, but makes up for it in being genuine - and while there isn't a manipulative bone in her body (though she may try on her own, and likely fail), it doesn't mean she can't come up with the best of plans that simply need an executor: you.
She enjoys the finer things in life, even from the onset, preferring choice cuts of meat and the nicest-smelling perfumed oils. She takes special pride in the way she arrived at the Weyr: not many newborn dragons get to fly like that, and she'll cling to those memories as long as she's able to, even going so far as to borrow liberally from your own mind, adding embellishments as she wishes. Even in this, her memory, she differs from many other dragons, for she has a longer memory than most, and a remarkable ability to put together two disparate ideas and somehow, /somehow/ come to a conclusion that makes sense.
Iesaryth has the potential to become one of those farsighted individuals who can see the broader picture, the various ways one ripple will affect you, her, and the place she decides to call home. She can see how this ripple will intersect with another, and how that, in turn, could become a tide that could change things to your will... or not. Should these skills mature, she is likely to be more advisor than leader on her own, though perhaps this is where you will supplement each other.
It's a good thing she's generally genially-tempered (as long as her physical comforts are tended to), for her sheer intelligence might sometimes be daunting. She'll make excuses to shirk studies she finds all too simple, chafing at the physical limitations that will prevent her from moving forward more quickly. She may end up injuring herself while trying to put into practice all the theory she's only heard of, read of, plucked out of your mind, Meara's mind, Isath's mind, about flights, Between, making her first kill.
She'll pursue other, extracurricular, exploits: trying to befriend her fellow weyrlings, ingratiating herself to the Reachian dragons. She's naturally a social creature who enjoys talking to and befriending many, and the ingenuity of her ideas and plans largely outweigh the awkward sense of humor that will persist throughout her life. She'll figure out ways for Eolenth to 'get away' from lessons to go listen to the harper's singing (surely she's small enough to slip away unnoticed), or find ways for Hraedhyth to channel her physical energy into fun and possibly not so productive ways. Kasvanth's love of mischief jives well with a young Iesaryth - who knows what they could come up with between the two of them.
Not being of High Reaches won't seem to faze Iesaryth, and her confidence in her belonging will likely make it an easy transition. The more friends she has, the better, and she'll encourage you, as another outsider, to turn on that considerable charm mired under secrets, and win friends as well. But in the quiet moments in the night, when she sleeps and you do not, you might find wistful yearnings laced in your dragon's dreams: desire for the ocean of her birth in the salt-sprayed mists of her thoughts. Later, it may become clear that these are not secrets she keeps from you, but an echo of your own desire for family and love.
Once she's old enough to recognize her own desires, she may ask you to take time away from your plots and your plans so that you might accompany her to the ocean, and to seek out her own dam and sire (though she might not truly understand what that means). She'll need these moments of reflection and solace, after her social butterflying, to recharge herself; perhaps you, too, will find them a peaceful change. Eventually, should she find a mate that suits, she may ask to invite him and his rider as well.
She's a romantic, and many signs of this will likely manifest early. Matters of the heart are one of the few things she finds difficult to keep secret - yours and hers. She dreams of you finding that perfect complement to your emotional needs, those needs that she realizes she can never fulfill. She'll consider this match and that match, and should you ever enter into a union she does not see good ripples in, she'll be sure to share her dubiousness. Ultimately, however, she thrills in your happiness - and, should you not listen, will resign herself to damage control for later.
When it comes to her own love life, however, Iesaryth has an odd blindness. Love isn't just meant for flights: it's a day-to-day existence, found in family, friendships, and yes, in mates (or potential mates). She'll converse with enthusiasm, and try to flirt (in a way that might make you boggle, for despite her intelligence she is completely incapable at this); she'll be eager to please her new mate with stories and witticisms, and perhaps even secrets she shouldn't tell. She may sometimes be spurned or used, but seems to right herself with alacrity. In flights, she'll favor those who have connections with her: it will be rare for an unknown to attain this queen. She's even-tempered over her clutches, neither fiercely over-protective nor instantly bored, though she much prefers to be kept company on the sands.
Your biggest concerns about Impressing might not sink in for a few days, once the exhilaration and fatigue have faded and allowed you a chance to think... including about the secrets of you and your life before High Reaches. Perhaps, part of what marked you as different - what drew Iesaryth to you - was just that: the intrigue of someone who would try and shield things beneath layers of intended and unintended deceit. Though guileless (and just generally really bad at deceit), Iesaryth still understands that /this/ is important to you, and to her burgeoning intelligence it's all very exciting. It's this emotion, at first, that drives her need to keep your secrets (mostly - youth is youth and indiscretions can happen). With the current turmoil at High Reaches, and no actual senior queen, a void is left - and without that sort of compelling oversight, your secrets won't be wrestled out by a simple command alone. It's an interesting time to be a foreign queen in a turbulent landscape: what happens next is what you, your ambitions, and Iesaryth's smarts make of it.
In one moment, she's become father, mother, and family, and eventually, as time and maturity allow, your closest confidante. You are her Aishani, and everyone else's Brieli. And she's your Iesaryth.
Public Impression Message
With careful steps, As True as the Tide Gold bypasses a series of girls, pausing briefly at a pair - one blonde, one dark-haired - before dismissing them as well. She keeps her distance in these observations before, quite suddenly, those gangly limbs stop and her fair eyeridges seem to tweak as she stares at a chestnut-haired girl. Her curiosity piqued, she takes a few steps forward - and then a few more, until she's right upon Brieli, looking up with the pleased whirl of Impression bright in her eyes.
Private Impression Message
Water. It's like the sound of water dripping off the awning of your childhood home, tweaking at your ears before it abruptly fades. The reminder floods your senses with the memory of happier, less secretive times: the life of a trading family, nomadic, with perhaps a few less scruples than the average Pernese.
The scent of the sea's salty spray wafts under your nose, though surely it's just perspiration, and the smell of other warm bodies surrounding you, in combination with Monaco's heat. For a second, however, the rush of tides deepens, reaching out - testing - before that, too, fades away. It's so close... and yet not yours to claim.
In the distraction of trying to discern between reality and what must, surely, be the heat of the sands interfering with your better judgement, you might miss the rolling in of this quieter tide. But you can't: the feeling of damp sea air rushes past your cheeks, and somehow, though some part of you is cognizant of being _on the sands_ and far from the water, you can almost feel the lapping waters against your toes, threatening to claim your ankles. Delight appears in the quickening of the tides, and in the foam that dances atop those waves until, suddenly, you are filled with a warmth like no other, and that missing piece slots in: "family". This is family. She's mother, father, siblings, relatives - all wrapped in one, and even more than that? Trusted friend. « You're my Aishani, » is her most immediate observation. « Even if others do not call you such. And I will always be your Iesaryth, Brieli. »
Mindvoice
Iesaryth is a constant fount of thought, whether it's a fleeting one about how it might be nice to sun just a little while longer and enjoy life before it passes away, or an actual conversation during which she'll pry, poke, and then ultimately pass a non-judgmental judgment on your plans. Her thoughts - so often accompanied by salt-air breezes - tend to be tinted in a spectrum of green to blue shades, borrowing from bright spring meadows before blending seamlessly into the deepest, inky blues of the sea, and all shades in between. She favors speech over images, and her sonorous tenor leans towards the higher range; an ocean's salted melody heavy in her leisurely cadence that sharpens for her (sometimes punny) wit, and mellows when she is seemingly at ease (which is most of the time).
Itchyspots
Iesaryth itches in two significant spots as she grows: around her talonbeds, and along her wingsails. When young, she will most certainly let you know of these inconveniences, as she prefers a life of comfort whenever possible; as she grows older, you'll hear less of them, though they'll never quite go away. Whenever her talons emerge and retract, they'll itch. Whenever her wings go for too many days untended to and unoiled, they'll itch. Early in weyrlinghood, she may even be prone to rubbing at her wings with the backs of her talons in an attempt to alleviate one itch or the other by pitting them against each other.
Dragon Inspirations
Iesaryth was partially inspired by the character of Nolan Ross from the television show 'Revenge'. Given Revenge also has very strong water and Japanese themes recurrent throughout, we looked to various Japanese water gods and goddesses, as well as to the changing nature of water itself, to help bring a more female element to the dragon. The theme for this clutch was revolutionaries, changers, and things that bring about change. While Nolan Ross isn't a revolutionary in the strict sense of the word, without his intervention in Amanda Clark's life, Emily Thorne would never have been born and there would be no motivation for the revenge the show is built around.
Clutches
