Deception's Dichroic Egg

When viewed one way, the surface of this egg glimmers with a subtle darkness, yet incandescence beckons when seen from another angle. On the whole, the shell is both beautiful and repulsive, no one particular shade discerned but a composite of all. Jeweled hues vie with shadow, the surface both amooth and sharp - is it life's first blush or the pallor of death, the brush of silk or the razor's edge?

Deception's Dichroic Egg shudders, rocking in place for a few seconds before all hell breaks loose. Whatever is inside wants out and it wants it NOW! The shell seems to ripple, long cracks forming; its clearly not going to hold together much longer. The egg doesn't hatch, really it's more of an explosion, shards flying everywhere as the dragon inside pushes in all directions, rising from the ruins to shake them off and peer around. Objective? Those... white things. There's no hesitation as it starts in their direction with a purposeful intent.

One Insane Move Blue Hatchling

Long-limbed and lean of flank, broad chest deeply muscled like that of an athlete, Tsaheyluth is proportioned for aerial speed and feline-like grace. The sheer turquoise of a pristine aquifer ripples across the hide of this dragon, the liquid hues crystalline as though illumined from below at midnight. Dusky blue-grey steaks pattern his broad, phosphorescent green-speckled snout almost as if a child's fingers have been at play with paint, the markings smeared around his large eyes, trailed down his neck and smudged across the rest of his serpentine body. Shades the color of a primal rainforest traces the edges of his neckridges and spine all the way to the tip of his tail. Wingbones of twilight are joined from wide shoulders, the sails stretched between them a clouded moonshadow. His underbelly a wash of teal brindled with the same slate-blue markings found elsewhere, blend into feathery fern on talons to end in claws of granite.

Temperament

Tsaheyluth is full of wonder about the world around him. Once he is aware that you've lived in it, he will pepper you with questions about what he's seeing, smelling, tasting. He's open, friendly but still with a bit of guardedness, wary of new things to some extent but this is often overcome by his innate curiosity as he will often test things before stopping to ask. Tsaheyluth is fearless, often taking the initiative acts on his own terms, urging you on to greater feats of daring. He's agile, resourceful, able to think on his feet' and adapt as the situation warrants. Despite his oft-employed independent streak, Tsaheyluth loves you very deeply, Sedark and is willing to put himself in perilous situations for you if he thinks something threatens you.

All over the place the first few days, Tsaheyluth seems unaware of where he ends and the rest of the world begins, smacking things inadvertently with wingtips and tail, but it isn't long before he learns how to maneuver himself with more grace and poise. During lessons he's all gung-ho go-go-go it's hard to keep him back. Don't help him don't tell him what he can't do. He'll prove you wrong or exhaust himself trying. He drags his feet against doing things the way others are just on principle of wanting to be unique, relishing the challenges the Weyrlingmaster's tasks provide him with and refuses to give up on them no matter how hard they are. Daring and adventuresome, this may often lead him into some trouble during Weyrlinghood until he learns some self-discipline.

Strong, fierce and focused, every drill is a test of his ability, a thing to be conquered. He may miss a few times, but his assurance is, « I got this. » whether he does or not and he'll exhaust himself trying to get it unless you intervene. He's intelligent, often resorting to sly cunning tricks of agility to achieve his end goals, his methods are often unorthodox and may draw either sharp reprimands from the weyrlingmasters or praise depending on the risks and outcomes. As he grows more aware of the kinship of dragonkind, and in particular the brotherhood of the wing, he will revel in the close-knit camaraderie, his attitude one of we're in this together' and no one gets left behind. His opinion is 'It's do or die trying.' But it is your esteem that he seeks above all others and he will go to great lengths to obtain it, though he may not let on in obvious ways. He won't ask you directly, but you'll feel the press of his mind, seeking yours with the unspoken query of whether you are pleased, believe in him or approve.

When it comes to Flights, Tsaheyluth is no shrinking violet. He's as focused in pursuit as he is in applying himself to any other challenge, giving his all to outmaneuver the other suitors. He'll take his losses hard, withdrawing to silence for a time until he shakes it off. Should he win, he is an ardent lover, a considerate gentleman, an attentive friend. His feelings of affection may linger well beyond the mating developing into a friendship that lasts.

Tsaheyluth has a good heart, but his get er done' attitude sometimes gets in the way of that. To others he may seem callous and sarcastically indifferent, but as he becomes familiar with someone and he begins to trust and respect them, he opens up and allows his vulnerabilities to show. He is courageous, determined, passionate and possesses exceptional strength of character.

Public Impression Message

One Insane Move Blue Hatchling doesn't wander as he moves; he lets his gaze do that for him, raking up and down the line of Candidates. As he stalks closer, every sense attuned as he listens, watches, inhales... That one! His large eyes are intent, the tip of his tail twitches as he zeroes in on his prey with a sudden spring that is designed to bring her down. Claws are sheathed as he makes contact with a sturdy, dark-haired, olive-skinned girl. Mission accomplished!

Private Impression Message

Something seems to be happening to your perception; for a few confusing moments nothing seems to make sense. Sounds mute, the voices around you become an unintelligible babble, your vision blurs, light colliding with shadow in a garish display of fireworks. All dim to darkness, silence and loss of touch. Which way is up? Which is down? Where are you? Within seconds - though it seems like Turns - you are back, but something is different. Eyesight is clearer, sense of smell keener. You are more -aware- and aware that you are...more than you were. You are not alone. There's a presence lounging within you, just waiting for you to notice he is there. There's a rich purr of satisfaction in finding you, the words sibilant, musical, brings with them the scent of fresh growing plants and rain-damp earth, « I am your Tsaheyluth and thus we are bonded. One life ends, another begins. » Then, a cool wash of unsullied rain-damp breeze carries his uncertainty as whisper though wild grasses, « You aren't disappointed are you, Sedark? »

Mindvoice

It is the rich pungency of earth, untainted and pure, mingled with the fresh scent of moss clinging heavily to tree trunks that permeates the mindvoice of Tsaheyluth when he speaks. His mindnotes vary from the mysterious call of avians hidden in dense foliage, the sweet sibilance of birdsong at dawn to the thunderous roar of a tropical downpour in the monsoon season. When perturbed it isn't unusual for his touch to be heavy, pregnant with the oppressive humidity reminiscent of an approaching storm, though in contrast when pleased, it's the velvet-smooth purr of a feline in his touch. Ranging in between is the brush of butterfly wings to tickle your mind with his curious questions, the plaintive whisper of wind through moonlit branches when he's uncertain and the laughter of droplets pattering across a still pond as he shares his joy with you; all giving his touch abundant variety.

Dragon Inspirations

For Tsaheyluth I drew from both the imagery of the planet Pandora and as requested the physique of the Na'vi. I tried to incorporate the purity of the native flora and geography (as the spring that Jake and Neytiri swam in at midnight, the awesome giant trees they lived in and the granite for his claws in the floating mountains of Pandora they scaled where the Na'vi warriors complete the path to become warriors when successfully linking with the ikran and flying upon their backs.) For Tsaheyluth's temper, I drew from that of the character Jake Sully, his never-say-die attitude, his audacity, his inquisitiveness and his love for Neytiri.

Egg Inspiration: For this egg, I chose Shakespeare's work 'Romeo and Juliet'. The egg's description is based on the theme of light and dark, life and death. focusing in particular on the deception of death that Juliet tried to use to gain the freedom to be with Romeo, which was to give them life together.

Name Meaning

You mentioned that you liked lots of vowels and the intricacies of the Na'vi from the movie Avatar. With that in mind, as well as the consonants you listed that you prefer, I drew from the language of the Na'vi for your dragon's name: Tsaheylu - meaning The Bond. For a Rider/dragon pairing, the word just seemed fitting. In the Na'vi tongue, Tsaheylu is pronounced sa-hey-loo. So Tsaheyluth pronounced Sa-hey-looth or Tsay-luhth whichever you prefer.
