He might be lit from within, pale bronze turned luminiscent; he wears his hue like a glowing raiment, glossy hide smooth and polished from the aristocratic arch of his neck to the narrow point of that incisive muzzle. Even his wingsails seem incandescent, as if their delicate draperies have been lit from beneath, marked by traceries of gold about pinions, and the fine points of sharp, sturdy talons. Shadows gather, however, beneath the length of his neck and the curve of his belly; striations of burnished bronze curl their way down the length of him, tapering to almost pure black-bronze at the tip of that fine-wrought tail.
