Psycho Psychic Egg

The oaken gold takes a long look around the sands, taking in everything from the gallery to Corineth before she digs her snout into the sand and creates a new indentation to which is added another egg.

Swirls and twirls of brightness, from the flashiest yellow to the brightest pink, all curl over the shell of this egg, gaudy enough to stand out not only from the sands but from the other eggs as well. The whorls are interspersed with calming whites and silvers, like smoky incense in a gather tent as someone tries to read your palm, though the flamboyant color is distracting enough to drive anyone crazy.

With a final shudder, cracks spread like a spinner's web across the surface of the Psycho Psychic Egg with tiny popping sounds. With a rather obnoxious bellow, the hatchling bursts forth, shooting egg fragments across the sands and even manages to nail his sire's nose. The pose of the dragonette is nothing short of kitsch but it is endearing. Once he feels he has been properly ogled, he makes his way out of the egg shards disaster area that was his home.

Suave Homely Brown

Dark and swarthy, this dragonet, the shade of dusky twilight before the stars have revealed themselves. Shades of copper burnish the edges of his too-large wings, highlighting the boundaries of their shadowy expanse and blending along his hindquarters to clothe his short tail in gloaming russet. Sleek lines speak of a frame that is well-muscled, his head and neck cloaked in darkness except where gilt-flecked brown touches the tips of his neckridges and the blunt plane of his wide snout. That snout looks as if it's been flattened with something heavy, serving as a counterpoint to his closely placed, sharp eyes. Russet the same shade as his tail tracks across his chest and underbelly in an ornate pattern that curves down and stops just at the tip of his talon-capped paws.

Temperament

Suave. Excitable. Flirtatious. Those are just a few traits of your Gruvfeath. He's ready to find something fun to do, and drag you along with him-or just as ready to be pulled along on your adventures. He can help you get out of sticky situations through judicious use of his charm, or help you get into them when he gets a little too excited and lets loose something that should be kept quiet. In his relationship with you, he will buoy and support your ideas, maybe even take them a little further and help reveal what you truly want-but he'll never push you over the edge, instead helping to balance things enough that, even if your position is precarious, he'll keep you from toppling over. His looks and shape aren't classic, what with the overly large wings, stubby tail, and blunt, wide snout, but he doesn't seem to notice and his charm often overshadows what are otherwise somewhat homely looks. In that way, he's a bit of a contradiction.

As a hatchling, he's simply a klutz, but he'll grow out of it as he learns how to balance with his large wings and short tail. He has to adjust to his new surroundings and find his bearings, as all hatchlings do, but he'll soon gain confidence and may even begin teaching you a thing or two. Sometimes, though, things just won't go his way, and his wings and tail will get tangled up and cause problems. He'll pick up things pretty easily, learning to let you know when he needs to be oiled or bathed or if the food's not up to snuff. He won't be too picky, though, and in general he'll let things slide by without making much of a fuss unless it's really necessary.

Even in weyrlinghood, he's very confident and sure of himself. He knows that he'll get the lessons eventually, so what's the point of being bored with that guy droning on over there? He certainly won't be thrilled with classes, but he'll love their outcome: being able to fly and flame, and maybe even show off a little. He's not flamboyant, though, and definitely doesn't want to be the center of attention all the time... just when it matters. Sometimes though, he'll inadvertently draw attention to himself. Like when his clutchsibling fumbles the landing, and he tries to show off by doing a better one-and it doesn't come together. Other times, he'll easily complete aerial acrobatics, but there may be no one there to watch. Either way, he won't be embarrassed, because he knows he's smashing at what he does (when things go right).

He, as he comes to know you, will be very accepting of you and your foibles, just as he is of himself. Which is not to say that he thinks that either of you are perfect, because neither of you are; but he isn't one to judge, which is a refreshing outlook to have. He won't be critical of others, but he might sometimes suprise you with his observations about them. He'll be more of a realist than a daydreamer, more of a feeler than a thinker and somehow, his instincts with you and others will be spot-on. While he enjoys seeking adventure, sometimes he just wants to spend time with you, because, after all, you're the one he chose! And while he does think the world of you, that doesn't mean he isn't strong-willed enough to stand up for himself if he needs to prove a point. There are times, though, when he'll need your support. It's rare that he's truly hurt or bothered by something. When he is, it will take some time for him to recover, and that's when he'll depend on you the most, despite his inherent independence and strength.

He is flirtatious, and tries to be a playboy, but some of the ladies just don't go for it. Sometimes that will make him sad or depressed, but he'll bounce back from that fairly quickly and either keep trying (with the same lady) or move on to someone else. His large wings will help him fly high after greens and golds, though sometimes the steering might be hard what with his short tail. He'll be persistent, too. He may not have won the last couple flights he was in, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't keep trying! Eventually he'll succeed, right?

Public Impression Message

The Suave Homely Brown struts his way up to his Candidate and gazes into his lifemate's eyes, adding a rakish rumble.

Private Impression Message

A swirl of colors, bright and flashy, touches your mind and draws your attention to the wobbly bronze with the blunt snout. There's no subtlety here, just a sudden burst of loudness that drowns out the sounds of the sands and focuses powerfully in on you with a sense of joy and confidence. « Here you are, Shaylar! It's me, Gruvfeath! You've been waiting for me, right? » Emphatic and brassy, his charm pulls you in, though there's an underlying sense of urgency with which he demands « We need to eat. Now. »

Mindvoice

He's primary mindvoice is a ringing tenor with a bit of a nasal overtone, brash and bright almost like a trumpet. He wants to be heard, and he'll rarely be subtle or shy when he speaks. He can be quiet if needed, but his volume isn't usually a problem because he'll share images more often than words. His thoughts will be aglow with vivid colors, like the swirling shades of clothing from the 60s and 70s: greens, oranges, and yellows. When the colors and sound are more muted, it might be a sign that he's not his usual self.

Dragon Inspirations

The groovy spy: Austin Powers, who is a parody of other spies such as James Bond. He's just as confident and charming as Bond, but not quite the same quality of looks.
