Noticeably trembling, the Pale Filigreed Gold Egg shakes and shivers as if the unborn queen inside is unsure of her timing. Finally, with gentle bouncing movements, the Pale Filigreed Gold Egg becomes overly active. A sharp jerk to the right renders a large crack in the shell. With one final jerk to the left, the shell breaks neatly in two, exposing Fort Weyr's youngest queen.
Glittering Starlight Gold Hatchling
Glimmers of pale moonlight ripple like veins of opal across this young queen's hide. The underlying hue, however, is the rich golden glow that accompanies Rukbat in its ascent across the skies. Her wings, damp from hatching, seem overly large; sailed expanses to cover the horizons. As she moves, traces of molten copper, baleful reddish-brown, burning bluewhites, and shimmering green highlights are reflected from her neck, back, and taut sides. A spectrum of stars in the night twinkle from her perfect hide. A questing wedge shaped head rises up, and the uncooperative body follows. Her movements are precise, carefully angled as she weighs up her options and then acts on them.
