A whole seven had passed since the hatching feast. Since Aishani's announcement. Since Azaylia had sworn in the dim comfort of her bedroom that she would never drink again.

A seven since they had cracked shell.

That realization in particular had the goldrider's quill stop so suddenly its brown plume quivered in the air a moment afterward.

« Hraedhyth. » Though she was still bent over her report, Azaylia's thoughts were charged with excitement, « Hraedhyth! You said that it'd be alright after a few days. It's been a whole seven. » She held her breath, genuinely unsure of her lifemate's answer.

The gold's drums took on a thoughtful roll, flame's contented heat spreading out to brush over the minds of her slumbering pups. Iesaryth's also earned a curious probe, warrior's touch surprisingly light so as not to wake them.

« You promised. »

« I did. » Hraedhyth was amused by the sulk in her rider's tone, so much like a whelp herself. « Their bonds have grown much stronger in just a few days. »

Azaylia nearly whimpered, impatient. "And..?" It was enough to prompt Bones into lifting his head off the couch, though he was ignored. With her quill back in its golden sheath, the weyrwoman's hands were free to grip the edge of her desk in anticipation.

Hraedhyth's fire crackled with low, husky laughter, « Yes. There is no fear of influencing them now. No harm in visiting. » She sensed her rider rising to her feet, « Tomorrow. »

The weyrwoman dropped back into her chair with a gusty sigh. "Oh, alright." Azaylia had suffered through her queen's odd probation for this long... surely one more night wouldn't hurt?

And in the morning? Baby dragons.
