A gauzy, plum-colored scarf is left on Quinlys' desk. Pinned neatly to it is a note: Quinlys-- This is a small token of thanks for taking Beastly in and letting him stay. I know that he appreciates it and I am more grateful than I can say. I wish I could have found the perfect thing for you, but nothing seemed good enough. Not for you, not to say what I wanted to say. But as a woman has recently pointed out to me, gifts only mean so much compared to actions. And so, I am going to take action. Would you like to have dinner with me? Just say yes, and I will handle everything else. I know this isn't appropriate for our relationship. I know it can be awkward. But there are enough things in my life that I haven't done because they could be awkward, or wrong, or because I was scared. I have lived a life of avoidance and excuses, and I am ready to be a better person. A braver person. And I am not too nice of a person to go after what I want. Or, well, that is what I have decided.
