Dinner time entails...food. Surprise-surprise. As such, the 'outcast' of the month is found getting her food, a flat-featured and non-interactive Alida making her way towards...not a table of any kind. The pale-blonde woman is instead picking her way through the throng of Weyrfolk towards the Night hearth area, only the rarest of riders actually nodding pleasantly at the bluerider...or appearing in the least sympathetic. It's only to those that her chill green eyes flick, that braided head bobs slightly.

Schuyler enters the cavern from the kitchens carrying a large tray of food towards the buffet table. He greets almost everyone with a smile and offers a few hellos as he makes his way through the crowd. One of the smiles is sent in the direction of the bluerider making her way in the oposite direction. He pauses near her and drops the tray down slightly. "Food's over there, but if you want to grab something from the tray before I put it out I won't tell." his tone is light and he flashes a smile.

Blink. That's about all Alida does as this new person she hasn't seen before greets her, the woman hesitating, slowing so she can level that uncompromising stare upon Schuyler...and peer at him as if he might just be crazy. Kitchen staff, then? She was going to nab something from the hearth in order to avoid interacting with anybody, but - since the youth's offering - the bluie instead halts, reaches over, and delicately picks whatever she can hold in two hands from his tray...a muted bob of head offered, as well as a muttered, "Thank you..." before she aims to head off towards aforementioned Hearth area, again. Leper-outcast!

Schuyler seems rather oblivious to the you must be crazy look. Or he's used to it. "And there's more where that came from. If you want a plate you can snag one just inside the kitchen and avoid the line for that too...and maybe get more than just just as much as you can hold." he smirks. "Best klah is the pot in the kitchen too." He grins. "I have to go put this out, but if you want I can bring you some. Where ya sitting?" he chatters on, even as she moves off.

She doesn't even want to be seen in the Kitchen, as most of those folk also give her the cold shoulder or the stink-eye. Faranth knows how they must chatter like brainless hens behind her back. So - though Alida might typically shrug off Schuyler's offer, *this* time the woman murmurs with a hint of relief in her, hard-accented, fast-paced alto, "Could ya' bring me some?" Shrug. "Next ta the 'hearth...night area." Where the old Aunties and Uncles usually sit to eat...but where riders only show up at odd times. And off the blonde steps towards said area, disappearing into the side cavern soon enough.

Schuyler enters the nighthearth area carrying a (smaller) tray of food, a few plates and a couple mugs of klah. He glances around to spot his new 'friend' and puts the tray down in front of her when he spots her. "Take what you like, I'll eat whatever you don't want." he comments, taking a seat near her. He grabs one of the mugs of klah and peers over at her. "So, crowds not your thing, huh?"

Indeed, Alida is sitting near the hearth, some of the attendant Uncles and Aunties there...but not to keep the bluerider company. They barely noted her, the small knot of them gathered aside from her intent on their own food, or their own business. While Schuyler dealt with his rounds, Alida munched on what he'd offered her before, washing it down with klah from over the fire. And now that he's returned with more food, and his chipper attitude...the blonde finds herself almost wishing she'd never seen him. *Almost.* As the perhaps oddly-polite bluie mutters a gracious "Thanks..." to the Kitchen worker - and takes more food from the tray to feed her growling stomach -she remains a little aloof and silent until the answer of "Yeah..." is grunted.

Schuyler offers an easy smile as he snags a bit of food from the plate. "Can't say that's ever been a problem for me, but I can see when someone is fighting the smell of good food." he laughs a bit. "Can't say I've seen you around though...it is a big weyr. I'm Schuyler. You can call me Sky if ya like." he takes a mug of klah and leans back in the chair.

She simply lets him chatter, Alida taking that time to feed herself briskly, and with good appetite, though she's not a pig while eating. Trying to figure out what she'll say before-hand has never been easy for the rather impulsive woman, so when her mouth is clear after a draught, all that Schuyler recieves is a small bob of platied head for the offer of his name, and a brief, "You new?" It *is* a big Weyr, and he might be new only to her trained sight.

Schuyler doesn't seem to mind that she doesn't have much to say. He shakes his head at her question. "Nah, lived here my whole life." he sips at his klah, watching her eat. "I'm usually holed up in the kitchens though. "Been training as a baker mosta my life. I can put together some pretty fine food if I do say so myself." he boasts just a bit.

Nomph. Alida continues going about her steady self-feeding with restrained gusto, only occasionally glancing up for politeness' sake at Schuyler. At this point, any positive interaction is to be treasured, even if it grates some on the bluerider's nerves. At the proper point, the woman murmurs, "Informal crafting?" before looking down at their shared foodstuffs, then finally offering the youth a small lift of one inquiring brow. Did he make any of this?

Schuyler shrugs. "Formal, informal." he doesn't really seem to think that's all that important. "Really anyone who would teach me. And a lot of experimenting myself." He catches the look and grins. "Those there," he points to something wrapped in a yellowish dough. "Those are mine. Made the recipe myself actually." he snags one as if to proove it's edible.

Alida nods again, finding Schuyler's attitude towards the formality (or lack of such) and his chosen Craft to be acceptable, his words of experimenting earning a perhaps-odd look from the woman: one touched with a darkly-humored slyness. The dough thingies are peered at, and - like the trooper she is - the woman lifts one of them up, and takes a large bite, chewing with pointed thoughtfulness. *She'll* be the judge of the baker's goods!

Schuyler chuckles as she takes the roll. The pastry is flakey and buttery and the filling is a spicy ground beef, and some tubers. An interesting mix of herbs give it a well rounded flavor. He watches her with amused eyes as she tastes.

It's rarer, these days, to get a wheat-based *anything* as food, and so - when the savory pastry prooves to be rather delicious - Alida actually offers Schuyler one of her rarer 'treats': a small grin...and over she reaches for another of the things, before he can snag it up. "Good..." is finally mrphled around another bite of her current teat, something inside the often chill woman loosening up just a little. Sigh.

Schuyler chuckles, a satisfied grin on his face. "I actually used some nut flour to make the dough. Still a bit of wheat mind you, makes it all stick better, and eggs." he offers by way of explanation. He snags another morsel from the tray and pops it in his mouth. "And there's more of those types of things where that came from." he smiles.

She makes the appropriate (and honest) quirk of head to the young man's words of how he put the treat together, the pastry still on her plate given another peer - as if to commit it to memory - before Alida takes a deep sip of her klah. "Well... you do yer Craft well... *if* these're any indication uv' the rest uv' what ya' produce." It's a veritable slough of chatter from the typically taciturn bluie, her pale head bobbing in approval at the Baker's next words. Noted glibly is her low, "How much do I have ta' pay ya ta make me the occasional treat?" Snert.

Schuyler smiles. "How about the occasional chat in exchange for an occasional treat. And if you ever get your hands on something tasty bring it by and I'll make it even better." he grins. "Though real flour will make some of the recipes even better...if you ever happen to have some to share." he raises an eyebrow while he sips from his mug.

For just a moment, Alida almost scowls a little at Schuyler's return offer, the woman's face moving from relatively relaxed to guarded. Sigh. That last savory pastry is nomphed with gusto first, the bluie contemplating (and finishing up eating, drinking) before she mutters, "I *ain't* big on pointless chatter." If he couldn't tell. Blink. "I got a firelizard, by-the-way. Tends ta try 'n haunt the Kitchens, if allowed. No extra offerings fer 'er. She's a little chubby."

Schuyler laughs at the scowl. "It never hurts to have someone to talk to." he says simply. "Especially when that person has a stash of Benden." he winks. "Aww, yeah, nah, people I can feed, lizards will get me in trouble." he grins. "You have enough there? Plenty more if you want it." he offers, noting that she's finished her food.

Benden? Okay; *that* has Alida's expression taking on a knowing cast, her lips managing a faint turn-up at their corners. As for firelizards, "Some people sneak 'er little bites on the sly, still." Nose-wrinkle. She's being offered more? Schuyler might be bad for her ultimate health, given the woman tries to watch what she consumes so as to stay in tip-top form. Still... "I'll have another uv those pastries uv yers, if I can." Hopeful, is the bluerider. "After that, I gotta' go bathe a dragon." After a pause and a sudden look that tries to pierce the Baker to his soul (kinda-of creepy, that), the once-more reserved blonde simply shakes her head suddenly, then rises slowly. "I'll come to the Kitchen pick it up from ya."

Schuyler grins. "I'll heat a couple up for you. I should be getting back anyways. That tray I brought out is likely devoured by now." he seems quite pleased with himself. "But...if you need someone to talk to, or snack with, you come find me." he grins, gathering up the plate and heading back to the kitchens.
