Late on day 11, month 1, rumour begins to circulate that Hematite is minus one rider, and one rider who has not been simply reassigned to a different wing. Though Nala has been spending many hours a day involved in the search for Astivan, even picking up some shifts that others refuse to do, four days after the confrontation at the Hold, she and Jynth are gone from Fort, transferred, so it's said, to Southern Weyr, for an undisclosed period of time. More specialised training, the more charitable have been saying. However, the fact that she's left behind her young children, whom she's known to dote on, might suggest that it's not so simple.
