>---< Weavercraft Hall, Boll Area(#893RJs$) >--------------------------------<
Nestled in a verdant tropical forest, the dazzling white slate of the
Weavercraft Hall is protected by two solid wooden gates that are usually
left open to admit the warm, balmy air. Draperies frame windows in a soft
and lightweight violet brocade, fluttering lackadaisically in the gentle
breezes.
Pern's history is detailed on several brightly-shaded tapestries
bedecking the walls, spaced between sconces of glow baskets that provide
light when needed. Ornate tables gradually increase in complexity, from
the more simple apprentice's tables to the intricate and thickly padded
rich purple of the Masters' seating.
Within, the decorous hall is rife with activity, and sounds issue
forth seemingly from every direction - the soft buzz of spinning wheels,
the tick-tick of shuttles and looms in use, and the steady hum of
stitching.
Outside, a well-traveled stone path leads toward Southern Boll Hold,
a mere few minutes' walk away. Other paths lead toward the breathtaking
fields, or to the docks, the gardens, and the nearby beach.

>----------------------------------------< 20D 13M 36T I10, winter afternoon >---< The Weaver Hall is buzzing with activity, apprentices and journeymen fill the work rooms while others peruse in search of that special something for turnover. Of course, rumors fly too, with recent events having been what they are. Edyis herself walks along with a taller blonde the two chatting at least until the girl is claimed by one of the journeymen to work on another task, leaving the former scribe to wander freely on her own. Eliyaveith's bronzey-gold form has become familiar in Fort's coverage, easily identified when she appears above Weavercraft Hall bearing her rider down for probably the same purpose as many visitors. Turnover, after all, is near and even Lilah does not seem to be immune. The scattering of rain isn't enough to soak her through before she ducks inside the warmer halls, especially not where the dark leather of her riding gear protects her. Left in cold mud, the queen outside does not seem to be at all happy, though she is still and watchful of people coming and going. The grin that twists her lips is a friendly one, as Edyis spots the familiar Fortian Goldrider. "Lilah!" She calls making her way over in almost cheery fashion. "I had been planning on coming to see you soon. Imagine running into you here?" Dark eyes studying the redhead a moment. "Shame about the weather." "Edyis," replies Lilah in greeting, her lips softening into a half-smile as she tips her chin in agreement to that question. "I imagine you are visiting your family? Your sisters are apprentices, was it not?" There is a check there, about her memory, with a hint of apology in case that she wrong. "I am putting in an order for Turnover." She glances to a passing apprentice as she says it, but her attention is directed back to Edyis without pursuing it. "Yes, I like to check in on them when I can. Seems I've worried for nothing though, both are well suited to the place. I swear they've even gotten taller." she replies of her sisters with a chuckle. Falling into stride with the older woman. "How fares Fort these days?" Lilah's murmur is a careful, "Quiet, at least--. For now until our Weyrleaders make good on their ultimatum. Unless Astivan decides to man up and pay the rest of his tithe without needing to be forced." Those words stop once, while someone passes, and otherwise the goldrider remains circumspect. Well, as circumspect as one can be when discussing forcing tithes from one part of your coverage area while in another. "And you, Edyis? How are you? There've been some talk about your Hold..." Edyis nods thoughtfully, considering the matter of Fort's tithes. "Sounds like things have the potential to get messy. Especially if he sets the precedent." She bites her lip at mention of Esvay nodding. "Lady Tevrane does not tolerate fools. Cron was banished and replaced by Nabol's former steward. I confess I was checking in with the girls to see if he had turned up." Guilt? Perhaps but it's only a brief flicker. "I've been... busy. With Irianke's arrival and that terrible incident at High Reaches Hold, things have been anything but quiet." "I had heard," is a quiet response, though Lilah doesn't specify which she is referring to. Perhaps one, perhaps all. "Have you had much to do with the transfer? How is your new goldrider settling in?" she questions on the topic of Irianke, lightly. "I am sure K'del is relieved to have another to help the Weyrwoman." Edyis brows furrow a moment. "I wondered if N'rov had turned up anything interesting on the subject." She murmurs softly, before moving to the topic of Irainke. "I haven't met her yet, but she seems to be an interesting sort of person from the rumors. I heard the scribes muttering after one of her research sessions. I don't know how K'del feels on the subject either, but it's certainly different." A hint of a curve pulls Lilah's brows upwards, juxtaposed against Edyis's furrowed ones, before she answers that unspoken question with a simple, "If he has, he hasn't mentioned it." Her fingers turn upwards in a helpless gesture before she continues on. "When we talked about it, he seemed to think the burden of being without a junior--. Well, now Azaylia certainly has one." A pause, before she presses lightly, "Research?" Edyis dark eyes slip to the redhead with a curve of her brow, "Nothing so interesting, just the sort of thing you'd expect from one of Nimae's juniors. History, politics. Getting a feel for the area." Her arms folding gently across her chest. " It is still too early to say one way or the other with her."
"When I meet her," Lilah agrees with a quick hint of a smile, humor found in Edyis's answer for her unasked question. "If you'll excuse me, I actually have to make those purchases for it, now, but I am glad I ran into you. After the turn is over, we should make some time to really catch up." That, it seems, will also be the goldrider's form of farewell (since she is not known for actual 'good bye's) as she turns to greet a journeywoman who has finally come to meet her. |
