| Word went out, direct from Cadejoth, in the early evening of day 26 that convicts were not to be Searched-- albeit with a note of uncertainty: was that a 'yet' at the end there? Unfortunately, it seems, not everyone was listening: half the weyr probably heard the commotion when blue Fierfanth, from Cadejoth and Iovniath's first clutch, found his very first candidate. Anyone who didn't hear the blue's initial delight probably heard about the whole thing very soon after, as word spread through the weyr that /convicts/ were being /searched/, and soon the weyr was going to have /actual/ criminals riding dragons. Of course, it's not quite that simple: Fierfanth's candidates has not joined the others in the barracks, and Cadejoth reiterated the initial message firmly: no convicts. But it's certainly raised an issue... /can/ convicts be searched? Should they? Is it fair to deny them their opportunity to Stand? And doesn't it suck pretty hard for Fierfanth's candidate, stuck in the middle of all of this? Though, of course, he /is/ a criminal... |
