| It's not that it's been a /secret/ (though neither has it been advertised) that Dahlia has, since not long after her recovery, been taking a few riders with her out once a seven or so, as her duties can spare her. Those riders who've gone with her are all survivors of the plague and some speculate that the goldrider might be taking them as some kind of support group or other fool thing. They're never gone for a handful of hours at a time and never come back worse for wear. Often, there's a meeting with the Weyrleader following such expeditions, but that's nothing out of the ordinary either. It isn't until late month 7 when Dahlia takes Malachite's wingleader and 'second to Southern Boll Hold that the rumors really start to take root: apparently, the goldrider and her cohorts have been acting as go-between for the Hold and Weyr, to find out what the Hold needs, to bring information back to the Weyr and even to provide connections between the Hold's representation and crafts that might be of use. Those responsibilities, at least at Southern Boll, have been taken up by Malachite in the last seven of month seven, but since Dahlia continues to borrow immune riders from the wings once a seven, it does beg the question if Southern Boll was the only one benefiting from Dahlia's do-gooder tendencies, and further, if the Weyr will have any consequences from her actions. |
