Having a weyr? That was great. That first day, going up there for the first time, K'del had been half sure his heart was going to beat its way right out of his chest; Cadejoth had been concerned, even frightened, until he'd been won over into the excitement of his own accord. Our own space, our own space, K'del had repeated.

And he hadn't even been disappointed by the lack of impressiveness of the weyr, the fact that the ledge had room for Cadejoth, but not much more, none of it. Because it was their space, and it was private, and... really, what else mattered? To be honest, he'd barely looked at it, certainly not really inspected any of it properly, just sat himself down on the floor and grinned and grinned until Cadejoth insisted they go flying again.

Yeah: having a weyr was pretty good.

And he'd gotten to visit his family, too, spent a couple of hours with his parents, and his sister, and met his niece (though he hadn't been much impressed by her). His parents had promised that maybe he could bring Kash up for a few days later in the turn, and then they'd given him his early turnday present (sixteen! Nearly sixteen, finally).

It was excellent timing: his mother and sister had spent much of the winter making him the heavy, down-filled comforter and pillows, and now he had his own space to use them in. The comforter was navy blue, trimmed in bronze, and the pillows were pale blue and bronze to match ("Bronze, like Cadejoth. To match his hide!" Only, of course, they looked nothing like his hide, because his was more greenish than the red-gold type shade they'd used).

So that was pretty good, too.

No, the trouble was that, well, there hadn't really been any time to enjoy the whole thing. The privacy. Or, rather, the implications of the privacy. If he wasn't at this class, he was at that one. Or he was studying. Or practicing.

And for all of the work he'd put himself through, these past few months, well, the truth was: there was more, now. More to do. More to think about. More to keep up with. More to catch up with.

No doubt they let up the restrictions safe in the knowledge that most of the weyrlings would never have time to actually take advantage of this.

And. Anyway. While there were plenty of girls he wouldn't've minded inviting up... he still kind of wanted to make good with Rascela. And he hadn't yet been game to ask if Uanth... Besides. Wasn't as if she wasn't busy, too.

So, the celibacy continued. Maybe next seven.

After all, how long'd he had the weyr? Three days?

There was time.
