| The afternoon sun hangs heavy overhead, the tang of autumn in the air. The lake is surprisingly quiet today, many riders beginning to opt for the hot springs with the weather cooling down. Nerine sits scrubbing furiously at Zerith's hide, the green giving an unhappy rumble. "Do whatever, but I am not chasing down another flit nest. . . no I don't care anymore it's ridiculous." She huffs. The green seems discontent with that answer but settles in to enjoy being scrubed. Tiasheth wings down toward the lake, pausing just long enough to let Paige off at the shore and to get her straps removed before splashing daintily into the water, head dipping in to blow long streams of bubbles. Spotting Nerine and Zerith, the greenrider heads in their direction, hand lifting in a wave. "Afternoon, y'two." There's a pause as she stops just short of joining them in the water, sweater-covered arms wrapping around herself. "She still after them firelizards?" Nerine glances up and offers a wave. "Ugh yes, and all we've found so far is green nests that snakes have happened over long before we ever get to them." She shrugs. "It is a decent afternoon, where have you been hanging these days? I almost never get to see you anymore between drills and this one." She gives the green a rather loud smack. "I gotta do somethin' 'bout Kiahen's one day, I reckon, " Paige grimaces. "Dun want her eggs t'get all ate up by them snakes." In the water, Tiasheth spreads her wings briefly before flipping them to her back once more, swimming farther out to watch any dragons that may pass by overhead. "Been around, o'course, " the slim rider replies, shoulders lifting a little. "Busy as much as y'all are. We was at Boll's gather a lil over a sevenday ago, though. Didja go, Neri?" Properly soaped Zerith slinks off, and Nerine wipes a stray hair from her face. "Asling should be rising soon, hopefully Zerith will be content with those." She settles back to sit on the shore. "No I didn't, I haven't really had much of a reason to." She cracks a smile. "We?" there is an accusatory finger wave. "Alright Paige spill!" Tiasheth submerges herself a bit more, a sudden drop down into the water so that her head is the only thing that remains visible. "Ah, yeah. Here's a'hopin', " Paige offers, uncrossing her arms to wander over and take a seat next to her friend. "Not even just t'go and have fun?" she asks, surprised. "'Twas awful nice." Pale eyes are arrested by that accusatory finger movement, widening. "Tia and me, " she says then, "s'what I meant." Nevertheless, her cheeks still pink a little. "But - well, we did go t'meet up with someone, " she finally admits, bashful. Nerine laughs. "Paige it was bad enough at graduation, I really don't think I'll push my luck any further with dresses. I always manage to miss gathers any way. . ." At Tia and me Nerine's gaze becomes more pointed, and she grins as the girl confesses. "Thats what I thought, Who?" there is nothing innocent about that devlish grin. "But y'look awful purty in a dress, " Paige insists, slanting a look at the other greenrider. "Or even jus' - wear a skirt and go dancin' sometime. S'awful nice t'do tha'." There's that question again. First Berit, now Nerine. "P'draig, " she confesses, just above a whisper, flushed but undeniably smiling. "We had a real good time. Went shoppin' and ate and danced and - everythin'." Nerine laughs even harder. "Perhaps but I'd probably step all over whoever's feet I was dancing with. Besides no hurry it's not like I'll be getting offers to go dancing any time soon." She shakes her head and sighs, but just as she regains composure her jaw drops. "P'draig?" she frowns a moment, "That rather sounds like a date to me Paige," She studies her friend a moment. "Are you. . .um. . . did you. . .eh" Nerine just leaves off trying to frame the proper words. Paige's flush deepens under Nerine's scrutiny, grey eyes round. "Well, 'twas, " she says sheepishly. A date. "I - we're - 'twas him, " she admits, shyly. That would explain her dreaminess and subsequent bracelet making after having gotten things 'taken care of.' "We're - seein' each other, Neri, " is further confessed, quietly. A grimace, a moment later, as she reaches up to rub at her temple. "Thought them packets from the healer was s'posed t'make the headache stay away." Nerine blinks at this the lines of thought slow to connect. "Uh. . . You mean. . .P'draig?" for some reason it's just easier to be concerned over the headache. "Why don't you head back to the healer, I can scrub down Tia for you if you need." She pauses. . . "P'draig?" She's still stuck on this apparently. "P'draig, " repeats Paige, and this time there's no mistaking how her face just lights up at the mention of his name. Getting to her feet, unusually graceful, she tips a grateful look down at her friend. "Yeah, reckon I'll do tha'. Y'dun gotta worry 'bout a'scrubbin' her, " a glance for the whirling eyes out in the water. "Prolly jus' wishfully hopin' tha' Jekzith appears up there soon. I keep a'tellin' her we'll go visit soon, but - she's awful keen on a'seein' him." Not that she's any less keen on seeing the brownrider, since as she departs with a wave, she breaks into a cheery, if vaguely off-key, low-pitched humming. Nerine blinks still processing the new information. "huh" She watches the girl head off. |
