Living Cavern, High Reaches Weyr

Stalactites hang high above this enormous cavern like a jagged chandelier or an inversion of the Spires themselves, but shadows cling to them instead of light. Below lie great tables arranged in rows, each large enough to serve a fighting wing, while in the nooks and alcoves around the cavern's edge sit more sensibly-sized tables, from six- and eight-seaters down to intimate spots for just a couple of diners. The only really open space is around the kitchen entrance, smelling of food and rarely quiet, and by the nearby serving tables with their long buffet of the day's offerings.

Tapestries on the smooth walls -- some faded and others newly woven -- only slightly mute the sea of sound when a meal is in full swing, but they add cheerfulness augmented by the glowlight from wall sconces and the centerpieces of each table. Still, shadows always creep along the ceiling and into the mouths of the exits -- the myriad small hallways at one end of the cavern and, at the other, the twisting tunnel to the bowl near an array of coathooks and and hatracks -- and late at night, when the glows are allowed to dim, the chamber can seem very dark indeed.

It's a short trip from the galleries to the bowl, but given Aishani's had one glass for the whole of the hatching, it's not a shock that she's quick to look for a fresh one when she enters. And for Lilah, of course, because you know, she's the guest. In a lowered tone, on the way in, "That's the first I've seen of that cast."

Lilah tries not to seem too interested in this information from the other goldrider. She even waits until they have secured drinks from the table, with her wine glass lifted to her lips before she murmurs, "Is it? Well, accidents happen all of the time."

She's remained in the company she had in the Galleries, Alida mostly listening to the two goldies and others beyond them as they hurried across the muddy Bowl into the warm Cavern. Still, to Aishani's latter words, the bluerider quietly comments, "Maybe Blood's startin' ta tell." Who knows; she's not any expert on draconic lineages.

With the eggs hatching as expected, there's been plenty of time for the living cavern to be transformed into a place of celebration. The decor is bright and festive, truly spring while the chilly weather takes its sweet time to turn. There's hot food and the drinks flow freely, harpers already setting the mood with lively music. Azaylia takes her time in changing into something more appropriate, High Reaches Weyr represented (as usual) in a sparkling blue gown with black trim. First come the Lords and Ladies, though surely the Weyrwoman will manage to pull herself away eventually.

Aishani blinks Alida's way, bemused, then takes a sip of her own wine before quietly; "Right. One does wonder. Though I wouldn't say too much about it now. It's a party." The bluerider isn't the only one coming to that conclusion though - there's similar words whispered here and there in the cavern, though nowhere near the Weyrwoman. Looking back to Lilah, she just gives another of her shrugs, shaking her head a little. Tone lowered, "All of the time when your nose is in everyone's business, yes?"

Lilah's brow curves upwards at Aishani's words, choking softly for a moment on her wine though she manages to swallow back the alcohol before she makes too much of a scene. Or dies, at High Reaches' hatching party. "I'm sure that the wingleader's injury is something inauspicious. We are dragonriders, after all, and it isn't exactly safe," she dismisses lightly, softly. And, buried there in her words, a hint of defense for the absent bronzerider. She does not comment to blame the blood, but then, that's just political. Maybe if she were just talking to Aishani--.

"Not planning on it..." Alida murmurs in reply to Aishani around her glass of rather expensive wine that she somehow procured with some quiet word or another. A faint lofting of brow is given for Shani's tack with Lilah, 'lida watching the interaction between them impassively. With the Fortian's response comes the bluerider's neutral, "He's a big boy." Unstated: he can take care of himself, even if he is drunk. Likely. If Lilah's aiming for privacy...good luck. The Glacier rider is rather like a tick, right now.

Aishani concedes, eyes brightened, probably by Lilah's reaction, "It's true. You could break an arm just falling off Iesaryth, as big as she is." It's likely the same lack of privacy that stops her from asking after Eliyaveith at the moment, but she doesn't seem bothered otherwise, sipping at her wine. Glancing toward said Weyrwoman, she allows to Alida, "You were worried about issues, though. Everyone will say they were, but..." The bluerider was actually asking the questions. "At least Iesaryth wasn't caught by her sire. It was a near thing, once."

It's sort of a law of the universe that where goldriders congregate, so too must bronzeriders. It's a thing. Look it up. K'zin is there, of course, and he's surely not the only one. Already breaking in his dancing shoes for the evening and sweeping up a drink before he's raising that glass to Aishani and Lilah, not Alida, predictably, with a smile, "Ladies." So suave, right? Don't mind the way the wine trickles out of the side of his mouth. At least he doesn't wipe it on the back of his sleeve, but only because he's in a fine doublet and shirt that probably cost him enough marks to care.

"There was some talk of K'del's blood when Eliyaveith started to show signs--," Lilah starts to admit to Aishani, perhaps to distract her from her previous reaction to talk of the Savannah wingleader. But, then, another bronzerider is there and the dark, weighted gaze that marks the goldrider falls onto K'zin in a neutral study, little given away by this reserved woman. She is probably staring at that wine, K'zin. Finally, finally, she dredges up a polite, "Bronzerider."

"You c'n break an arm fallin' all by yerself on the fuckin' *ice*..." Alida mutters almost dismissively, her eyes rolling some before she sips from her wine. As for 'issues,' "Not really worried. Thoughtful." She doesn't look or sound concerned, really. "She's okay?" is all Alida inquires of Eliyaveith to Lilah, letting the matter of Blood drop...and then there's K'zin. The temperature in their little knot suddenly drops about 30 degrees, the once easy bluerider tensing up a few notches, her expression and eyes turning to ice. She almost looks ready to depart, but, for some reason, the palest-blonde remains in place, an unmoving ice floe. To Lilah's neutral-careful greeting of the bronzerider comes a quiet, intense little nod, and chill half-smirk...and she's once again sipping. Fuck you and your dragon, K'zin.

Aishani straight up wrinkles her nose a touch at the trickle of wine, but since when is the goldrider's expression of disgust at... well, practically any bronzerider a surprise? "K'zin," she replies, lifting her glass and drinking, always drinking. It's a party, dammit. Arching fine brows Lilah's way, she says, with interest, "Really," but doesn't yet ask more. But there are questions there in her gaze. Even Iesaryth is starting to look rounder. "That thought appeared to be prophetic," she tells Alida, brows arching again at the chill. Is she amused behind her glass? Maybe.

It's true that Rasavyth has a bromance with Tacuseth, but Ilicaeth is definitely not his type. "Oh, Alida, I didn't see you there." K'zin's smile is so wide. So warm. So ... smug? "Enjoying the party?" He asks the three. "Hatching went off relatively well, I thought." As if he'd been invited to this particular conversation. As if any of them wanted him there. Maybe he's just playing oblivious.

Well, maybe some golds just care about their figures more, Iesaryth. But, Lilah answers simply, not inviting more questions as she replies, "She is fine. She was happy to be here for the hatching of Hraedhyth's clutch." Her brow curves upwards at K'zin at his words, but she will take a cue apparently from Aishani and merely lift her wine to her lips for a slow sip. She does add for Alida, "I'm not sure how you miss an entire person."

"My ass..." Alida mutters quietly at Aishani's words of prophecy, tipping her glass to sip more at the wine while apparently ignoring K'zin...until his patently (at least to *her) false and smarmy greeting hits her ears. In a lilting voice rarely heard - and all the more impacting because of such - the blueir murmurs a gentle, "Fuck off, suck-up." Twinkle-grin. Nobody but the people in their group are going to hear it, and the venom just behind it...in those ded cold green eyes. A little stiltedly, to Lilah, "You bury 'em." Are those eyes glancing out through their sides at the bronzer? Nah.

"Relatively well. I wonder if they'll say it's a curse. The curse of Satiet. Too bad it's not--" Ahem. Aishani coughs and smiles brightly, telling K'zin, "We just got here. You two don't get along?" All innocence, as if she hasn't noticed all the coldness, the 'fuck off', etcetera. To Lilah, pleasantly, "Iesaryth doesn't ever like the eggs, but she quite enjoys the hatchlings. She's always so frustrated they won't talk to her while they're in the shell."

"Bad eyesight," K'zin volunteers for Lilah with one of his most charming smiles. He's then tch tch tching with his tongue. "Alida, there are ladies present. You'll offend Aishani's innocent ears." He must have at least a drink in him before this wine because the grin he flashes 'Reaches junior is one of genuine good humor. "Oh, well, you remember when Nabol was going to the dogs? Turns out Alida here is tactless and likes to have secret words scolding one's lifemate. Amazingly, that doesn't help a person keep friends." Clearly K'zin has tact in droves.

"Actually, I have a question for you--." Lilah cuts herself off at whatever that might be, though, with a quick, simple glance towards the bronzerider and bluerider still in their circle. She tells Aishani instead, "Later. I will find you." Surely, given the conversation, it is likely to be about golds and their eggs. Her lips might twitch a bit at K'zin's words, though her tone is flat as she questions, "Are my ears not innocent, then? You've already determined that?" And she seems to be serious in her offense as her weighted gaze remains on the bronzerider.

From slipping sideways glare-daggers at K'zin, Alida flicks her gaze to Aishani, letting the weyrwoman quickly see a portion of the bluerider's massive eyeroll at the goldie's pretend innocence. Bullshit called, Shani. To K'zin's airy words, the bluerider grunts out a gelid and low, "Better tactless than a backstabber." But there's other shit to be dealt with, right now, and she'll work not to let the bronzerider affect her meager bits of pleasure taken in drinking and a little chosen company, 'lida giving a knowing look to the other women when Lilah speaks of talking to Shani later. To the Reachian weyrwoman is clipped, "It's not what?" Smirkie. Sip. "Well, at least Iesaryth's mellow." For Lilah's words to Waki, the blonde snerks softly, murmurs, "Oil 'n grease."

Aishani tries to follow what K'zin is saying, but just shakes her head after a moment, glossy curls bouncing. Glancing between them, she notes lightly, "There are visitors. It could look badly on the leadership to have such... animosity." Not that she cares enough to put a stop to it in front of one. Speaking of Lilah, there's a nod before, "I should visit you for the fashion week. I have summer clothes to look for - so much of last season was trendy, it's just not wearable... well. Anyway." She doesn't need to go into it. Shrugging Alida's way with a smile, "A different anniversary. And she is indeed mellow."

"Would you have me make assumptions about your innocence or lack thereof, goldrider, when we've met but once and I was so blind with flight lust I might as well have been blind in truth?" K'zin responds to Lilah with a tilt of his head and a smile that pulls toward a smirk without fully getting there, "Surely we should be of better acquaintance before I make presumptions about you." To that end, "Will you have a dance with me later?" It's not really a cocky invitation, and in point of fact it sounds rather genuine and he was, if she was watching, quite light on his feet on the dance floor before making his approach. Aishani's words only let him be more amused, "Aishani's quite right. Alida, will you do me the honor of a dance? We can bury the knife." The one he presumably at some point stabbed her with? Truly, he might be hard pressed to identify that moment at all, but he extends his hand toward the bluerider, palm up all the same.

"I'm not sure the silence speaks any better for your assumptions, either, bronzerider," Lilah replies dismissively, but those dark eyes draw over K'zin in a way that may be thoughtful. She nods simply, too, at his question, before she turns her attention back to Aishani. She offers with the hint of a smile, "We're going to have a show of more--delicate lines, at Dice. The ones that can't be shown in the common caverns. If you feel inclined."

Her voice kept low, almost intimate the whole time, her expression as dead flat as a plank, as well, Alida finds herself looking with hooded eyes at Aishani, and murmuring without animation, "They'd have ta be lip readers ta figure out what *I'm* feelin'." Truth. Her anger is held in check by Turns of practice at such, and with a certain blue's small assistance. When Aishani fesses up to that 'anniversary,' the Glacier rider simply bobs her head. At K'zin's invitation to a dance - his whole persona - the bluerider simply stares coldly, her greens finally locking with his darker gaze, holding it steadily for some seconds. Nothing shows on her features, in those eyes, but after she's done stilling herself, the blonde murmurs a quietly intense, "I see wha'cher' doin', bronzer. Hopefully, so do others." Forced as it is, a faint smile creeps over her features, though it never reaches eyes. "Sooner dance with a parasite." For all her failings in enough places, Alida's at least honest in her loyalties. Over to Lilah is soon noted, "Delicate? Like underthings?" See? The smile is still in place, if a hint bitter.

After trading her empty glass for a new one, Aishani glances between them, then tells Alida, quite patiently, "Lilah is a visitor to our Weyr. This is... unfortunate behaviour." Again, she looks between bluerider and bronzerider with a quick flicker of her gaze, then turns attention to said Fortian visitor with a fixed smile of her own. "I'm always interested in something that can't be shown in public. I'll have to come by for that as well. I have someone I work with, but I never mind looking." Like she needs an excuse to buy clothes.

"Ought to take Telavi with you, Aishani." K'zin is quick to volunteer the greenrider. "I'm sure she'll need a break from the weyrlings before too long, if Quinlys will let her go." That Quinlys would probably like to go too, to such an event doesn't cross K'zin's mind. He lets his hand fall away from where it had lingered. "Well, weyrwoman, if I can't fix it this way, I'll fix it another, since I'm apparently offending our visitor without trying." Not that he sounds sorry about whatever it is he's doing to incur that reaction. "Can't waste a good toss dance at any rate. Ladies," He lifts his glass, downs the rest (this time without incident), "Enjoy the party." And then he's heading back to find a pretty partner for the number.

Lilah, it seems, will show a hint of amusement when the bronzerider turns to find another partner. What, she finds perverse pleasure in certain things. She even softens to assure Aishani, "Do not worry; I am used to people overlooking the fact that I am a visitor. You have been a perfectly capable host." She nods to Alida, for all that she was trying to avoid the words. "Lingerie, modeled in person as they walk among the tables. We already have deals with some of the weavers that produce such lines. Yours actually may be one, weyrwoman."

"I've never made any pretexts with Lilah before..." the bluerider murmurs almost equitable to Aishani, perhaps obliquely letting the goldrider know that the Fortian and her have met before. But, perhaps for the sake of political correctness (ha), the blonde dons a rather artifical pretext of a more pleasant smile (no, it still doesn't reach her eyes), and murmurs, "There. One lie, just fer you... 'an company." She even manages to sound almost-pleasant, though her gaze refrains from following K'zin anymore, even when he leaves their company...some choice retorts bitten back after the bronzerider departs. To Lilah is tersely murmured, "If that offended you, apologies." A strange undercurrent ripples through the bluie's voice: is she just a little concerned about losing any acquaintence status with Lilah? Unknown, since she's sipping at her drink again, then noting to the Fortian, "D'you wanna feel like a visitor?" Honest inquiry. As for lingerie, "I could use another nice bra, some p...pretty undies." Is that a hint of embarrassment in green eyes?

If Aishani's smirking K'zin's way as he departs, it might be because he just offered up his girlfriend to go to a lingerie party, imagine that. "Of course," she says, as he leaves. With a nod to Lilah, "I appreciate that. Thank you. I would hate for anyone to think my many drawbacks have interfered with my duties." She lifts her glass the other goldrider's way to drink, then shrugs Alida's way, not concerned if she's going to counter. "Occasions have different rules. There's 'company behavior' and otherwise. In any case, I should think High Reaches would be pleased to come to Dice for that, Lilah. If there's anything we can do..."

"I will let you know, certainly. But, K'del has already made arrangements to provide wine and we have covered the models and the weavers," Lilah replies easily, though the way she offers the name of K'del and watches Aishani in the same instance speaks to at leastt some interest there. She assures Alida, though, with a simple smile. "Thank you, but I think that given everything, I will be fine. Though, I may make good on that promise of a dance--." She glances towards K'zin where he has gone to find a partner. "At least, before I sneak away for the evening." And definitely not visit R'hin.

There's only a small incline of Alida's head to Lilah's easy words, the blonde knowing that - all too often - social graces and lip service are received better than blunt honesty. Maybe that's the reason why her doll's smile is still touched with undercurrents of bitterness, though it does quirk a little more upward at one side for the Fortian's word of sneaking away." Does she suspect? As for the dance...nothing emerges from her mouth, though her lips purse faintly, and she gives a minute shake of plaited head. You're on yer own, kid. "You have drawbacks?" the bluie almost smirks at Aishani, one of her pale brows lofting up high, as if to challenge the goldrider to some subtle spar of wits.

Aishani's reaction to K'del's name is more... confused than anything. "How is K'del getting wine? Never mind, explain later." Or she'll just figure it out on her own, somehow. Fine brows arch as Lilah suggests she's off to dance with K'zin, but to each their own. "I'll see you soon," she promises. Perhaps sooner than Dice. And Iesaryth's definitely not going to be paying particular attention to Eliyaveith's movements as she sits on her ledge and watches the bowl, as nosy as her rider. To Alida, "I am a Vijay. To start. And I have lingered too long. I should make the rounds." She offers the bluerider a low nod, and moves off to find some Harpers that need chatting up.
