| Neither the remains of the eye rock nor the meteorite itself remain for long in the bowl, in the days after the strike. Both are hoisted up by several dragons and carted away, under supervision of a contingent of Miners and Smiths. It seems likely that there will be a lot more of these crafters around in the next few months, as reconstruction on the bowl and the eye rock commence, but for now, most efforts are focused on cleaning up. It's been mentioned more than once, but with no definitive answer: are those meteorites /worth/ anything? After all, given the damage inflicted, chances are rebuilding is not going to come cheap, and while the weyr isn't doing /badly/... well, wouldn't it be nice? All that cleaning, clearing and rebuilding will need to be done outside the weyr, of course, and there's plenty of coming and going between various places in the High Reaches Hold area as damage is assessed, and injured cared for. /Their/ meteorites are still in place-- but no doubt not for long, for the weyr has, officially, promised to step in and assist where possible, as soon as it can spare the manpower. Life goes on, for most, but there's an increasingly somber mood about the weyr, where there are constant reminders of the tragedy, from the overflowing infirmary, to roped off sections of the bowl, and the distinctly eerie sight of the mutilated star stones. |
