| As summer reaches Fort, word begins to circulate in the caverns about a foster exchange between the Weyr and local Holds. Not only will young people from minor cotholds and major Holds be invited to visit and stay at the Weyr for a specified length of time, but older children and young adults from Fort will be going to stay with Holder families, in the hope of improving relations between those born into one walk of life or the other. Holds involved in the exchange must be able to support their exchange 'partner' from the Weyr while their resident is away, and it's being said that sweepriders and envoys from various Holds will visit those involved in the exchanges to ensure that all is going well. Involvement in the scheme is on a voluntary basis, and undoubtedly there will soon be some new Holder folk sleeping in the resident dorms with everyone else. |
