| It's only been a couple of hours since the hatching, but evidently that is long enough for some baby dragons to be fed, oiled, washed, sleep, and now be awake again. Pia's still wearing her white robe, looking somewhat disheveled, as she follows the tiny little green out of the barracks and into the snow-covered bowl. "Stay close!" she warns, watching her dragon with absolute adulation. "I don't want to have to carry you back if you get tired!" By the sound of her, she'd probably adore doing just that, but, well. Akluseth's almost lope from the direction of the lake shore might be comical, if it were not for the chiding of the rider at his side, trying to keep pace. "Slow down, they are probably exhausted, and these are still babies you have to be gentle more gentle than you are with Flicker even." The tiny flit in question clinging to the brown's neckridges obstinately. By the time they are in sight of the barracks, they've slowed considerably, and Akluseth halts upon seeing the tiny green. There's a wry grin spreading over Edyis's lips spotting the pair out and about. "Haven't had a chance to even change yet, huh?" Which must serve as Edyis's greeting, very little trace of the melancholy of the last few months left in her expression. "What's her name?" "I fell asleep," admits Pia, tearing her gaze away from Luishaeth so that she can grin, wholeheartedly enthusiastic, at Edyis. "And then she was awake again, and... it seemed like such a waste of time, when I'll just get more filthy, I'm sure." The little dark green pauses, paws resting in the snow as she tilts her head up and up and up to regard Akluseth with feigned disinterest. "She's Luishaeth. I tried calling her Lu but she didn't like it much." "I know the feeling." Edyis laughs of exhaustion, "Trust me though, day old meat smell is not pleasant. " Flicker, who is much closer in size to the green, but still quite a bit smaller churrs a greeting. Akluseth plops down, chin touching the ground so he can get a better look. « Hello. » He tries, his touch a gentle whisper of a sea wind. "Akluseth is funny about his name too. Fortunately, it isn't quite a mouthful. What's she like?" Pia's nose wrinkles, but it barely makes an impression against her absolute delight; this may take some time to wear off. « Hello, » responds Luishaeth, with a wave of dark, brine-filled water; deep and unknowable. « She feels affection for you. Why? » "She's..." The new greenrider shakes her head. "I don't even know that I can describe it. She's... she's deep and strange and wonderful and I can't even say." The briny waves are met with dancing shipfish, and bright silvery bubbles, complete and total delight, though muted so as not to overwhelm the little green. « We picked her to stand for you. » He says, and not without a degree of immense pride. Edyis, looks at her lifemate and shakes her head, but when Pia speaks, the former scribe smiles. "Akluseth is already enamored of her." She laughs, "He'll be strutting about for weeks, that his very first search impressed to such a pretty minded green." Luishaeth's contributions are darker: the hint of a fin, lost beneath the waves, and the crawl of seaweed, tangling upon legs and arms. « I see, » she says. « Then you did, for me, a service. But don't expect gratitude, mind. » "I still can't believe it," admits Pia, glancing from Luishaeth to Edyis to Akluseth. "Thank you, Akluseth. It's just-- everything, you know? Everything I didn't know was missing. She's perfect." Luishaeth's thoughts might suggest a roll of the eyes, more amused than completely dismissive. Something, something has Edyis snickering as she looks over to her lifemate. If Akluseth finds the darker imagery disturbing it doesn't linger in his voice. He is content to study the smaller dragon with delight. Edyis, can't help but smile too at the greenrider's enthusiasm. "It is, wonderful. But it can, get a little overwhelming at times. If you ever need someone to talk to, have her call to Akluseth and I'll come. They will assign you a mentor too when they get a little older." "I-- I can imagine," admits Pia, though her hand has strayed back to that tiny green, even if she must half-kneel in order to do so. (Luishaeth, for the record, seems unbothered by the touch; it is neither good nor bad, simply there.) "Thank you, Edyis. Uh-- Brownrider. I should call you by title, shouldn't I? But I will. If I need to. When I need to." "Just Edyis is fine, at least when Quinlys isn't looking. Otherwise, I'm fairly sure she'd get on to me about teaching bad habits." The wryness of her grin perhaps suggests that that is not really problematic for the brownrider. "Green, though, perfect really, for what you want to do. They can land in smaller spaces and have a lot more maneuverability than some of the larger dragons. Won't really know for sure until she's grown and in the air, but I'm excited and happy for you Pia." Pia's nod, so enthusisatic, presumably encompasses all of what Edyis has to say, though her gaze has dropped back to Luishaeth, who is beginning to droop back into sleepiness. Gathering the two-foot green into her arms, she says, "Thank you, Edyis. More than I can say. For everything. I just can't wait to see what happens next. I should get her back inside, I guess. And get changed." Edyis nods, "Grab food and get cleaned up when you get the chance." Chuckling softly as she watches the pair. "Thank you Pia." But for what exactly, the brownrider doesn't specify, heading off in the opposite direction with her lifemate. |
