(No More) Doom and Gloom Weyr

Considerable work has clearly gone into making this weyr homely. Whitewashed from top to bottom, ceiling and floor included, the walls glimmer with tiny crystal particles mixed into the paint itself - a ploy, no doubt, to spread a little more light in what seems to be a space plagued with perpetual darkness. Efforts certainly seem focused on overcoming this issue, with a row of mirrors lining the walls to bounce whatever the mirror-backed glowbasket sconces can throw out. The mirrors have the effect of making what's already a large room appear to be even larger, but even they can't quite bounce the light into some of the furthest corners.

Strategically-placed furniture marks out the roughly oval space; a living area features a pair of plush, pale green chairs and a matching sofa, over which a black throw embroidered in white, purple and blue is draped - it matches the rug on the floor, that lies before a small hearth. There's what seems to be an artist's corner, with an easel, desk, writing supplies and sketchbooks, while at the furthest end from the entrance a painted white screen hides a cushion-strewn four-poster bed, which features a lush, mirror-embroidered purple canopy. Hidden behind a curtain in the sleeping area is an extra little bubble that's been converted into a closet, with space for clothes to hang as well as carved shelves and space for a press.

Given the state of Deveriteauxth's chest, R'co had been assigned to watchrider duty. Nothing especially taxing, since his lifemate needed time to let the wounds earned in Fort heal - though they were doing so quite nicely by this point. But camping out all day doing nothing was beginning to get boring, even if they were only a day into the temporary task.

After having had his dragon's stitches checked out by the dragonhealers, R'co had popped into the Snowasis for a drink to warm himself up. Just the one, tonight - a whisky to heat him from the heart out.

He'd barely been back in his weyr long enough to take off his jacket before fellow Snowdrift rider Mai arrived, Deveriteauxth announcing her as Quesath landed on the ledge.

Their exchange was brief, he took the gift from her and said goodbye. The little note was read first - Rough luck. Hope recovery is swift and easy. + Tay +

"Oh, Tayte. Such a darling."

Pulling off the bottle's cover revealed one of his favourite Neratian fruit liqueurs.

« She's such a darling, Dev, isn't she? » The sleepy response he received agreed.

Grabbing a piece of paper of his own, R'co began penning a response in his curly handwriting, peppering the script with happy little doodles. Thank you, darling. You must come up soon to share it with me. Love, R'co. He rolled the note up, tied it onto a little pot of scrub from his stocks that he knew she liked, then called on Clara. With the package safely tied to her dusky gold leg, he sent the firelizard off to find his Istan friend, then settled in for a nightcap before sleep.
