| Nonononononono. The walk only lasted until she was clear of the infirmary. Faced with the busy caverns, it turned into a run, her skirts flying: she was barely conscious of where she was going, except that she needed to be outside, and away, and... No. The tears were coming on fast, now, blinding her. It wasn't true. It couldn't be true. He wouldn't do that to her. Either of them. No. Nonono. Somehow, she ended up at the lake, though she had little memory of how she'd gotten there, or why. There were people at the lake, lots of people, some of whom stared at her as she passed; she ignored them, stumbling across the land bridge, and then, more carefully, across the rocks to one of the furthest outcroppings. It wasn't exactly private, but somehow, it felt more peaceful over here, though she could feel the sobs beginning to build up inside. Heedless of whether or not she was showing her legs, she hugged them to her, burying her face in the depression between her knees, and cried. It was like all of her dreams were being taken away, one by one. Like someone out there was laughing at her, for daring to believe that she deserved good things. How could she have been so stupid as to believe it? There was a tiny thread of hope, still, hanging there: maybe Tiriana was wrong, maybe whoever told her was mistaken. Maybe it was all just a bad dream and she'd wake up and everything would be all right again. But... She didn't know anymore. She didn't know. She sobbed until she was hoarse and her body was shaking.
