Weyrleader Ledges(#12138RJs) A flight of steps worn smooth with time lead up to a broad flat area with enough room for a gold and her consort to sprall and lounge. Openings lead to a room used for conferences, the Weyrwoman's private room, and the hatching sands themselves. A round table of well polished hardwood sits in one corner and is surrounded by chairs. Contents: Ronari Leiventh Obvious exits: Hatching Grounds Weyrwoman Weyrleader Council Chamber Bowl

Ronari comes up the steps from the bowl. Ronari has arrived.

Ronari knocks softly on the edge of the doorway, hoping to gian the Weyrleader's attention without disturbing anything.

R'hin's settled at a table on the ledge, a stack of hides spread out in front of him, shirt-sleeves pushed back as he leans over the table. The knock jerks his head up, focusing on the arrival. "Yes?"

A dark-haired, blue-eyed wisp of a girl, Ronari doesn't give much of an impression. Her pretty eyes and soft hair are the beauty in contrast to her otherwise plain face. She has a light dusting of freckles in the hollows on either side of her nose. Her body is slight, willowy if tall. She has small curves, but dainty. Her hands are long soft and nimble. All in all she gives the picture of a typical dainty teenage girl.

Clearing her throat, Ronari smiled softly. "Telgar's duties to High Reaches' Weyrleader."

"And 'Reaches to Telgar," R'hin recovers smoothly enough, lips curving as he rises from his seat in silent invitation, hand waving towards an empty chair. "I saw your Weyrleader at the Istan hatching not too long ago. And you were--?"

"Sadly unable to attend." She replied smoothly. It took her several seconds to realize that was not what he ment. "I'm Ronari, pleasure to meet you sir." She extends her hand in greeting before taking the proferred seat.

R'hin accepts the hand in a fairly firm handshake, waiting for the girl to seat herself before he does, too, pale eyes drifting over her in an obviously examining way. "Well, we hope there will be one at the 'Reaches in the not too distant future," he murmurs, with a glance towards the Weyrwoman's weyr, lips twisting briefly. "So, Ronari. Can I help you with something?"

With a nod to his statement--and it's implications, Ronari smiled pleasantly glad to have the formalities out of the way. "Actually, you can." She began, pausing to collect her words and thoughts into a coherent form. "I've been studying the Records over at Telgar," Yes, she's been studying them between trying to organize the musty stacks of information. "And I think I might have found something in them that could help to better treat Threadscore." Here she paused, a little bit of her frusteration showing through her eyes. Realizing she'd drifted off again, Ronari re-focused her attention on the Weyrleader, her soft voice firm. "Unfortunately pages were missing or illegible. I was hoping perhaps you might have a copy of that text here in your Records."

Although R'hin's expression is initially polite and little more, there's a flicker of bemusement that grows in the Weyrleader's face as Ronari speaks. Thoughtful, he pauses for a moment to consider her words and request. "I can't see a problem with that, but--" he holds up a hand, leaning forward, pale eyes fixed on her, "Don't you think your studies would be better suited to things more useful to us in an Interval?"

Ronari sets her jaw, gaining a look of stubbornness which is almost ridiculous in such a small framed person. For a moment she stares back at the Weyrleader, but remembering her manners, says quietly. "Knowledge is immortal. What I learn now could benefit others, if not now than later." She leaned back in her chair, relaxing visibly if not mentally. It wouldn't do to push--even if that was her first desire. She really must stop trekking all over the place--it's effects on her personality were not flattering.

There's a sudden glitter to the Weyrleader's pale eyes that might well suggest that R'hin's pleased with the girl's initial expression, a knowing grin crossing his features. "Very true, Ronari," he concedes, with a spread of his hands. "The Weyrwoman would be the one to ask about access to the records, but I can't imagine she'd refuse-- though she may ask you the same question." Fingers fold together on the tabletop, and the casual question follows, "Are you planning to stay for a while?"

Satisfied that she'd find no fight from R'hin, Ronari smiled warmly and shook her head. "I won't intrude on your hospitality any longer than it takes to find what I'm looking for." She thinks a second. "Would you happen to know when or where I could find the Weyrwoman.? I'd like to start as soon as possible."

"She's dealing with a supply problem at the moment. I can't imagine it'd take long, but then--" R'hin's smile deepens, "--I'd hate to assume and leave you waiting. I'll mention that you are looking for her, however. I am sure she will seek you out. She's a habit of-- wishing to meet newcomers." The pauses throughout his speech are clear indicators of words deliberately, and delicately phrased.

Something about his phrasing put Ronari back on her guard. Why the need to pick such ambiguous phrases for his Weyrwoman? "I can wait for her, so long as I'm not disturbing anything." She glanced around the room they occupied, noting--pleased--that it was well used, unlike /some/ offices she'd seen. "Speaking of newcomers, I wonder, have you met Keevin? He mentioned looking for residency here." More appropriately a transfer, but details could be ironed out later.

A tip of head, as R'hin looks at Ronari with a thoughtful expression. "Best, I think, if you let her approach you," is all he says. "Keevin? Yes. I believe he's already spoken to Headwoman Sirana. Why?"

Putting two and two together was never a weak point for Ronari, but by the distinct phrasing used by R'hin, she gathered that the Reaches Weyrwoman was not going to be easy to deal with. "No reason in particular, he just seems--" And here /she/ paused, taking time to phrase correctly. "distracted?" She left it open-ended, hoping for a better explanation perhaps.

"Ah." There is little of interest in that syllable, R'hin rising from his chair in subtle indication of dismissal. "Well, we do have a mindhealer at the Weyr-- Kasiese. Perhaps you should mention it to her?" the Weyrleader suggests. "And I will pass your request onto Satiet."

Taking the hint, Ronari rises from her own seat. She shook her head. "I've no wish to meddle. Just incurably curious." She flashed him a brighter smile than was her habit and headed for the door. "Thank you for your time Weyrleader." She bent slightly at the waist and turned to go, pausing in the doorway to look over her shoulder. "I'll keep you warning in mind."

A low-throated chuckle from R'hin accompanies the bland sort of words, "Curiousity can be put to good use... with the right sort of guidance. It was a pleasure to meet you, Ronari. I hope you'll stay a while."

Ronari walks down the flight of steps, towards the eastern bowl. Ronari has left.
