K'del was dispatched to Southern on the morning of the 16th; now, in the warm, evening air of the 17th, he's more or less settled in to his temporary home, if still under heavy pain relief. Tonight, Cadejoth lingers upon the ledge rather than seeking out the Southern skies, evidently still eager to be close to his rider, resting within. The fellis haze is lifting; K'del is wakeful and restless, resting on his stomach in the borrowed bed. Someone has provided him with reading material, but the bronzerider seems to be struggling to keep his gaze focused on it, and stares blankly, instead.

It is the almost electric rush of waves that reaches out to the older bronze, the young brown's trademark « Incoming! » As he pops into the sky above southern, with all the unnecessary acrobatics that such entails. « We thought maybe you and yours would like some company? » Comes after a little more toned down as he waits for permission to land and when given, Edyis slips down easily adjusting the satchel over her shouder. " Weyrleader?" Comes that soft airy soprano, that might be easily recognizable.

« Please! » is Cadejoth's answer, his mindvoice a jangle of discordant chains. It's not that there isn't Isyath (and others) to fly with... but he's eager for company, and to stay close to his K'del. There's plenty of room on his borrowed ledge for the brown to land, and from inside, there's K'del's answer: "Edyis. Come in. Please." There's a smile, at least, in his expression, though he's pale and somehow shrunken, his expression pinched.

Akluseth's pleasure is felt rather than verbally expressed, silvery bubbles fluttering through deep blue-green waters. Oddly bright crabs of various shapes and sizes set to scuttle curiously along the lengths. He is content to settle next to the bigger bronze, tail twitching excitedly. « That move you pulled to catch Niahvth was awesome by the way. Nobody saw it coming! » Or at least that is Akluseth's opinion on the matter. That she sucks a breath at the sight of him is probably telling, but her hesitation melts and she finds herself striding over looking for a place to settle. "I know it's not tactful to say this, but you look like the bad side of awful." But alive goes unspoken. When she finds a seat she opens the mouth of the satchel, "Now you can only have this stuff if the healers give the ok, but I brought loot."

Admittedly, Cadejoth's capture of Niahvth was more 'desperate accident' than 'design' but he can be as smug as he likes in the face of Akluseth's words: he won, didn't he? « Right? I knew I'd get her. » That his queen is far away, now, is only remembered about the edges; a half-sigh of longing, all mixed up with the satisfaction of at least being near his rider. "That great, huh? You should be glad you're not here when they're rebandaging... or so I'm told." It's likely K'del hasn't actually seen his own wound, nor his face. He's lucky he's never been much for growing facial hair. "They'll probably say no to anything, but there's always later. What'd you bring me?"

The younger brown seems content to fall into cheesy hero-worship, then, sharing the stories of the day from the weyr, and other adventures as he thinks Cadejoth might enjoy them. As for Edyis, She can't help but smile a little at K'del's answer. "Thanks, but I've spent enough time around healers dealing with critical patients to know when, I don't want to be in the room." A crooked grin spreads, and Several objects are fished out one at a time. The first, a deck of hand painted cards probably recently made, since the edges are sharp and not yet dog-earred with use. Next comes a bottle of what appears to be spiced rum, of some Monacoan variety, and another bottle of whiskey set beside it. Lastly a small pouch of jerky is added to the pile, and she checks the satchel to make sure nothing was missed. "Didn't bring anything to read sorry."

Cadejoth is easily amused, at the moment, and more than happy to share his own exploits... such as they are. Inside the weyr, K'del smiles, his own as crooked as Edyis'. "To be honest, the reading hasn't been working out all that well... pretty sure I'm still high as a kite half the time, and it's hard to concentrate. But I appreciate the rest, even if I'm sure they won't let me enjoy it just yet. Something to look forward to, along with being allowed to sit up, go outside, eat proper food, and go home."

Edyis nods, "I wouldn't imagine so, have you started seeing pink flits yet, or giggled incomprehensibly?" Because obviously she is a little sad to have missed it if he had. "Well if you can think of anything you want smuggled in, just have Cadejoth let Akluseth know and I will do my best. Nothing that would damage your recovery though." She adds the caveat, unsure if it is needed or not. "Yes, well, so far you are the only man I've ever met who can win a leadership flight, get mortally wounded, and be miles away from the actual flight as it happens. You've told me you wanted to prove yourself as a kid, but that is a little excessive. Though, I'm sure someone will write a song about it for you." Still smiling. "I'm glad you are ok, and recovering. We still need you, despite what you may have heard."

"No one's supposed to know about the pink firelizards... they told me it's a secret!" Clearly, K'del is feeling better; able to laugh, anyway, even if it does pull on his stitches. His nod acknowledges her offer and suggests appreciation, too, but what he says is, "Well, you know me. Can't just win a flight... got to make a show of it. Guess we all know, now, I can win a leadership flight whatever you throw at me. Weyrleader for life, never going to worry about that question again."

Edyis grins, "Well, you have certainly become an inspiration for a whole new generation of riders. Just think, a whole new batch of potential bronzes all looking to you as their father, mentor figure. Aren't you just thrilled?" Relaxing into the chair some, and grinning evilly. Apparently she has no qualms about teasing an invalid, though more likely than not she's just trying to keep him smiling. "How are you feeling about all of it?" She asks then, "Aside from high as a glowing green."

"Always wanted to make history," is wry, but not unamused. K'del hesitates after that, more serious when he admits, "Not even sure. Someone tried to kill me, and I'm not sure if I've got my head around that, just yet. Not even sure why, let alone who. And my head's still spinning too much to really try and work through it. Ali keeps telling me not to think about it, but... that's easier said than done."

"I imagine that works about as well as telling a teenager not to think about boobs, what's the first thing you suppose pops into his head?" Her smile a mixture of wryness and sober observation. The worry lines, though probably say more than that seemingly carefree smile. "There will be time to figure it all out, and you've got a weyr full of folks who want to help you find the answers you need. How is she taking it, and for that matter your kids?"

K'del's smile is wry for that mental image, though he doesn't comment. Perhaps he's still a teenager at heart. He sucks in a breath before continuing, "Ali's beside herself. The kids... the little ones don't really get it, except that daddy's sick, and the older ones haven't come to visit yet, so they're probably worried, too. It's... know there's people on it, and it's going to be fine. Just got to get through it all. Important thing is that they didn't manage to kill me.

"I don't imagine it is easy for her, she seems like an outstanding woman, from what I've heard though." Edyis offers of the southern weyrwoman, and there's a soft knowing sound in her throat at mention of his kids and their reactions. "Just... let them fuss over you. I don't mean not to try and reassure them but, even if it drives you nuts, when kids are little like that they want to do what they can." She shakes her head, "Sorry, I'm sure you already know that." The last earns a furrow of her brow, "I just don't see what anyone would gain by attempting something so public."

Fondness for his weyrmate is so obvious in K'del's expression, and for his children too. "Mm," he agrees. "Could be under better circumstances, but I think they're appreciating having me around. It's... nice to be around, even if I'm not even supposed to lift my arms to give them hugs." Which must be hard. Of the rest, his expression twists. "There were so many people around. No one saw. It just... who can I have offended that badly? Or was I just a public figure, chosen at random?" Beat. "Least it wasn't Farideh. Could've been."

"Could be you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time." She frowns then, "Though if you were the actual target, it's a question of what could be gained from it." She pauses, then, shaking her head, "That is the last thing we need, especially after..." Edyis can't bring herself to say Lilah's name. "I'm starting to think that there is something wrong with me, because I'm no longer suprised when shit like this happens. Maybe it's just been a bad few turns. Have any of the Holders sent their condolences or whatever is the polite thing in this situation?" She frowns then, "Sorry. You are in a bed with a hole in your back. Never have been able to break the question asking habit."

"Keep thinking things'll settle down, stay settled. But..." No. It never happens. K'del twists his mouth shut, then his eyes; he's beginning to look paler again, though he valiantly opens those eyes again and adds, "Mm, it's fine. Ask. Don't have most of the answers, though I believe there have been some letters of support and sympathy. From Greenfields, certainly. I'm... sorry." That's abrupt. "Can you find the healer? Should be nearby. It's--" Clearly, that fellis is now wearing off completely.

Edyis nods, but the moment she notices that he's paler, she's getting to her feet, still listening, but those dark eyes are scanning the room just the same. Mention of greenfields however, draws her attention briefly back, as he asks for the healer. "Sure, I will go find them. Don't push it." It doesn't take long, and after a brief exchange with the healer, the sort that might suggest a level of familiarity with this kind of situation she offers the Weyrleader her best smile. "I don't want to wear you out, so I'm going to head back now, but let me know if you want company or are going stir crazy yeah?"

It's for the best, probably: K'del manages a twist of a smile for Edyis, but then the healer is offering him something to drink, and after that? It won't be long before he's asleep again. Still, from Cadejoth: « Thank you. »

Edyis returns that smile, and exchanges a quiet thank you with the healer before dissapearing out on to the ledge, and it's only when she is out of sight that the smile falters, replaced with something not easy to define. It is Akluseth who in that cheery tenor of his replies, « Any time. » with the weight of his oceans behind it, before the pair ascend and blink back between, with more questions and worries than answers.
