Snowasis is a gathering place for all kinds of people. As it happens, some of those people happen to be bronzeriders. K'zin is one of those just settling into an unoccupied booth with a mug of beer in one hand. His attention is largely on the beer so likely he's not expecting anyone (or he really wants to get through one mug of beer before company arrives). Outside the calm bubble of the booth, people fetch their drinks and otherwise enjoy a habitual wind-down pre-dinner from the day's duties.

It's been a couple of days since H'vier, K'zin and Faryn sat down for such a nice meal together. Today, when the large bronzerider appears beside K'zin's booth, he doesn't look as though he's in a wonderful mood, but neither does it seem to be bad. He's just here, taking up space and drinking. "I'd been expecting some sort of follow up," is his only, ambiguous, greeting from where he's, whether by happenstance or on purpose, blocking K'zin's ability to leave without getting in his face.

K'zin's eyes pull up to H'vier's face, a touch of surprise quickly hidden under a careful look of neutrality. He shifts his beer mug just slightly, taking a moment to consider his answer. "Yeah? I guess sometimes there are surprises in life for all of us." The tip of his head indicates H'vier can join him if he likes.

"I wouldn't go that far." H'vier was probably not surprised by the lack of follow up. Where he'd usually sound amused, he doesn't right now. He sounds tired, possibly just this side of drunk, and not entirely himself. He does take the offer of joining, except it's on the edge of the same side of the booth where K'zin is sitting. "Have you ever drawn Fort's Weyr-- Lilah before?" At least he gets right down to it.

The question seems to take K'zin by surprise - there's another one of those fun surprises for him. Brows knit as he looks at his mug and then back to the other bronzerider. His answer comes as a simple word: "Yeah." Weyrwomen have something of celebrity status. He adds, "Only from extrapolation. For my dragonpoker decks." It's probably a courtesy he extended to the woman that he didn't generally circulate her image beyond what was necessary for a complete Fortian deck.

H'vier nods his head slowly, the sort of slow deliberateness of a person who's trying to seem less intoxicated than they might actually be. "Do you think you could do it again? Nothing indecent, of course. I just want-- I don't want to forget what she looks like." When the older bronzerider looks at the younger now, there's something both sad and hopeful in his expression. And, then, as though he's suddenly had a great idea, "I'll pay you. Whatever you want."

There's another. K'zin's brows dip again as he looks at the older man. "Were you-- close?" is what he comes up with to ask, which is neither a yes nor no to the task being asked of him.

Now H'vier seems surprised. Also somewhat confused. His brows furrow, but he only studies K'zin for a moment before he says, more dispassionately than his expression might suggest, "We were practically weyrmates."

K'zin's head bobs, accepting the words. "I didn't know," obviously. His eyes stay on his glass. "I'll draw her for you." It's said carefully after some consideration, "In exchange, I want you to apologize to Faryn, and mean it."

"That's all?" asks H'vier the blunt way of the intoxicated. The off-handed implication that he doesn't think his apology is worth very much is pretty obvious, if perhaps not intended.

"Well, I'd prefer if you never touched her again, but that's really her choice, not mine." K'zin answers with a shrug. "And I'd say a full reform of your treatment of women, particularly attractive, kind women, is probably out of the realm of possibility." The younger man lifts his drink to swallow from it. "So it seems like that's really the most I can ask and hope reasonably to get."

"You want to chaperone my apology?" H'vier suggests, voice bland, before he takes a drink from the glass he brought with him and glances toward the bar to see if there's someone's attention to catch to bring more. "If you want me to leave women alone, I'd be willing to settle for your company." It's pretty blatant as far as H'vier hitting on another man goes, in that it's happening at all. He must be feeling off.

K'zin doesn't answer the first, but the second gets a very carefully worded, "I'm practically weyrmated." He doesn't lift his gaze from his mug. "The drawing will take some time for me to get it right, but I'll get it to you." He lifts his mug and takes another swallow. "You'd probably have better luck finding company like that if you minded your manners." It's not more than a friendly suggestion.

Something relaxes, deflates, in the older bronzerider, but, even drunk, that seems to be the answer he'd been expecting. "Very well. Thank you, K'zin." H'vier starts to shift to rise gracelessly from the edge of the younger man's bench. "I'll have another drink sent over to you."

"No need, but thanks." K'zin answers the offer of a drink. "I was just stopping for this one before--" other things, presumably, but the younger man trails off there. He doesn't say more in farewell but rather proceeds to drain his mug before moving to depart.

H'vier doesn't acknowledge the words as he turns away, but since he doesn't try to order a drink for K'zin once he settles at the bar, he must have heard them. All for the better, really. More for him.

Gross, this is like when celebrities have to apologize or else they lose their contracts and spiral into depression and alcoholism and bounce in and out of rehabs. Though, H'vier is well on his way. I feel really bad for him, but Faryn doesn't.

All the frowns and depression... The dark in Alida would heartily approve...if Alida didn't already intensely dislike K'zin and H'vier. ;D

Jo feels for Havi. She's probably the only one that does ~
