>---< Tunnel, Fort Weyr >----------------------------------------------------<

Connecting the Inner Caverns to the outside world is a single tunnel that
dives down through the very heart and depths of the Weyr and exits near
the base of the mountain where the road down to the Fort Hold valley
starts. Fairly straight and dimly lit, the tunnel is large enough to
accommodate tithe wagons and small group of people walking abreast. A
kidney-shaped unloading area opens out immediately below the Stores with
plenty of space to unload wagons and carry supplies up into those storage
caverns. The end of the Tunnel is barred by a heavy stone gate and guarded
  by a watchrider.

It's been roughly an hour since word of the mudslide at Lux's Ledge Hold reached the dragons of Fort. It's nice to think that in all emergencies, people spring to action, but when the actions are unanticipated (in the specific sense, not the general), it takes a little time to coordinate. That is this time, and it makes the tunnel outside the stores a bustle of activity. Caverns workers, candidates, riders, anyone with a spare hand that can take the necessary supplies to the dragons designated to be going to help. Dee is set apart from the others by the fact that she's already got a film of dirt on her, an obvious sign that she was present at Lux's Ledge recently, but given her almost dazed and distressed expression as she slips out of the stores empty-handed, people seem largely content to ignore her in the wake of work that needs to be done.

"Hey." It's short, terse, a warning from a man who's got sacks piled in his arms past shoulder-high. N'rov has a good shirt on, one that contrasts his cheek's dark bruise; he had better things to do.

Dee proves she's not so dazed as to be dimwitted and steps reflexively out of the way at the warning of his voice. Only then does the teen see the bronzerider and step after him. "Hey! N'rov!" He's recognized, even with the bruise though the latter is not commented on. She follows, her long stride impeded by the activity around them as she tries to catch up, her look strangely turned hopeful. "Do you know what will happen? To them? At the Hold?" is anxiously posed to the fortune teller while she's still at his heels.

"Dirt. Mud." It's the obvious answer; does he even remember that other kind of fortune-telling? N'rov side-steps a trio of women with an even more unwieldy load than his, lumber. "A whole lot of complaining."

The obvious is also true which is enough to make it troubling and crease Dee's forehead with greater concern. She reaches a hand toward his arm to try to forestall his progress away from her, perhaps oblivious to his load in the moment. "No, with the winter. Will they starve? I asked for seed," which further demonstrates the candidate's stellar ability to prioritize, "But they said--" only that's clipped off with an unhappy bite to her lower lip.

Under other circumstances, N'rov might relish a dramatic fable; as it is, those sharp gray eyes look back at the youth, though he won't be stalled for more than a step. "No, no. They'll make it," most of them, "Just have to pull together." If she wants more, and there is more, she'll have to follow.

"But-!" Dee stops short and is shortly buffeted by a passing someone working harder than she is, in this moment. It's not exactly protest, but it's clear that N'rov's words aren't entirely reassuring. She'd probably like to believe him, but with disaster, no seed, and decimated stores... She has to be practical at some point. That point might be now, given that she turns back toward the stores with some renewed desire to dedicate herself to the work at hand, leaving the worries for later.

If she's going to make herself part of that pulling together, N'rov isn't going to stop her. He has his own load to carry. And the next, and the next.
