| On the morning of day 18 of month 13, Turn 20 of the 10th interval, a small party made up of about a third of Obsidian and a few other riders, plus a contingent of guards from Forth Hold set out to the Gar coastline to raid what B'kaiv's intel pointed out as a supply depot 'of interest'. Led by wingleader D'kai and his bronze Mikhuth and a guard captain from Fort, the group encircled the depot and corraled the criminals working there upon discovery of several suspicious things. Among the items retrieved during the raid: 1) A large quantity of counterfeit marks from the beastcraft, glasscraft and tannercraft, 2) a counterfeit-making machine and the dies to go with it: the set included dies for four major crafts and several southern holds, 3) boatloads of supplies, many of them the textiles, hides and other items that crafters ordered from points south of Fort and never received in the north, though not everything has been retrieved and it's suspected they were sold at a handsome profit, 4) a hoard of marks in a jar in the kitchen, all bearing the Hold Gar stamp - there was however, not enough money in the place to account for everything that was stolen and presumably sold, 5) a name, later confirmed in questioning: Vinsley, who is now a wanted person of interest in the case. D'kai and B'kaiv have been given special commendations by the Weyrleader and small reward of marks by Lord Fort for the successfully conducted raid. All riders who assisted in the raid have been commended by the Weyrleaders as well and the guards from Fort, decorated by their captain. Rumors now fly around the Weyr that it was Gar all along and poor Atreyan and Isobel may find themselves facing a lot of cock-eyed looks. Relief also runs rampant and hope high that this is the end of all the troubles. But is it? |
