| Rumors are flying within the southern Nabol coverage area of several strange occurrences that are just starting to reach High Reaches Weyr. It was late in month four that a local drunkard was walking home from his regular rendezvous, when he claims he was jumped by a band of men, robbed, and left on the roadside to suffer his wounds. Being the kind of man prone to wild, drunk stories, most people waved off his tale as another in a long line of uneventful threads. Just as out of place, not but weeks later, two men traveling west from a small minor Holding along the river, were hailed by an injured man and once dismounted, were attacked by assailants who took their marks and stole their runners. Disgruntled mumblings have been heard throughout the countryside, but as with most things, truths are bound to get distorted and skewed. It's only dusk of day twelve, month five, that suspicions were confirmed when a Nabolese cotholder awoke to find his livestock being stolen away by a cavalier band of miscreants. He, at least, has been deemed a source worth listening to - and he will tell everyone who will listen his woe-is-me accounting of the facts. Descriptions of the highwaymen vary: from rugged and cruel, to winsome and gallant, depending on whom you're listening to. |
