| Storerooms, High Reaches Weyr An aimless whistling echoes in the large passage that leads towards the storage caverns. It's a slow, lilting tune. E'sren makes his way down the tunnel with his hands in his pockets, his steps slow and leisurely. He walks like a person who knows where he's going but doesn't need to get there very quickly. It's okay, he has time. Occassionally he'll look down at his shoes, like now; he kicks at a pebble and it ricochets off one of the walls. It's the sound of wheels rolling down the stone floors of the tunnel. Moving with the energy of a person that's proceeding at a clipped pace and eager to get to their destination. Sabella appears sharply from around one of the corners, pushing her cart full of paint cans, rollers and other things quickly and with determination. And that's to say nothing of the little bit of redness around the rims of her eyes and the very light sniffle. She sees E'sren. She also doesn't want to see E'sren right now and so tries to speed on by him. "Hello. See you later!" Is given in a mock cheerful voice and she breezily moves on right past him, like this was normal. The whistling pauses when the cart noises pick up and it doesn't come back, E'sren's curious to see who's coming. He sees Sabella before she sees him, and to not only see a familiar face but her familiar face has him smiling. That's what she'll see when she sees him, his smiling face; and that's what she ends up snubbing, until he gets a good look at her eyes, and he hears her and then she doesn't stop, then the smile falters. "Um." He whirls around on one foot and about faces to follow her in her hurry, luckily his legs are a little longer. "Hey can you slow down a second?" And let him catch up? In more ways than one? That's just perfect. Of course, she couldn't have realistically thought she would just brush past E'sren like that without him hurrying up behind her and trying to catch up. But a girl can dream, especially when she's just in no mood to talk. "Oh, uh. I'm sort of- I just want to get this stuff back to my weyr. It's almost time for me to go and get something to eat." No it's not. She's knows that he knows it's not. With a sigh, she exhales and drops the clipped pace to just a fast walk. She pries one hand away from the cart to rub at her eyes. Yeah it's all weird. E'sren is tilting his head to try to look at her, but her face is tilted down too far and she's also trying to not be seen so it's not easy. He furrows his brow at her when she starts talking, trying to get out of... talking to him? Seeing him? Since he has no idea what's happening his mind automatically goes to weird places. "What do you mean? Why're you running?" 'From me?' is implied. And then she does slow down, but she's rubbing at her eyes, and they were red, and there was the sniffle, and he's only ever seen her cry once and that was when she fell out of the air, and is she crying? "Hey," and he reaches for not her but her cart because maybe he can stop that at least. "I'm not running. I really just want to get out to the bowl, Ghislaith is there waiting for me." That's all the truth. She's not physically running, she does really want to get to the bowl and Ghislaith is waiting. E'sren reaches for her cart and does stop it and it's one long moment before she just rolls her eyes to the ceiling and stares. A long moment before she sneaks forward and wraps her arms around his waist and sinks her forehead against his chest. "Would you think I was an awful person if I just didn't feel like talking to someone? For awhile? Like a long while?" He could even find out for himself that Ghislaith is waiting, and really Ahruth might be waiting too and has already confirmed that as he tries to stay out of the green's way but also still make attempts at being companions, as per usual. E'sren isn't exactly thrilled when the cart stops because now there's nothing to do but stand there and wait for her to say whatever his imagination has thought up, all bad things, but he waits nonetheless. Waits while she averts her eyes, but does take the moment to look at her, to see the redness, maybe even a hint of a wet shine on her cheek; his eyes melt when he sees that, and it's that sad, confused face he gives her as she's sneaking in for that hug. He's still wearing it when he hugs her back, arms around her shoulders. He tilts his head to look down at her, as if that might help him understand her words. "Depends, are you talking about me?" Not likely, considering what they're doing right now. "I could never think you're awful. Tell me what's wrong," he asks; please? Sabella leans into the hug and takes a breath, exhaling slowly as she keeps her arms looped around his waist. It's not a tight grip, just a comfortable one. "No, I'm not talking about you." Something in that makes her laugh and she shakes her head, rubbing her forehead on that spot on his chest. "I just- I had this falling out with K'zin a few months ago. And I really haven't felt like talking to him, I don't hate him. I just sort of want him to leave me alone or act normal or something. But it feels like whenever he's near me he's asking questions or offering to help me. None of it feels natural or like he's doing it be nice. But just to- I don't know." She sucks in her breath and begins to untangle a little. "This is idiotic, I'm upset for no reason really. It's not that big of a deal." She can laugh. He would laugh too if she didn't just mention K'zin's name. There's something odd about his expression now. It isn't mad, it certainly isn't confused anymore. It's just... Focused is good. He had been playing with a strand of her hair, a favorite pasttime of his, until that point, and that's what he's paused doing to process what she says next. All of it. Before she begins to pull away or detach he quickly kisses the top of her head, his hands sliding down her arms to give them a squeeze around the bicep. When she pulls back enough to see him, if she's looking, he isn't. He's staring down the passage the way she just came as if he expects their fellow weyrling to show up any second now. "Did you just see him? Just now?" 'Leave me alone'. 'Act normal'. Put those together with her walking alone as fast as she can away from a meeting in the storage rooms, crying, and it isn't hard to see where E'sren's mind is going now. E'sren's closeness does a lot to soothe her ruffled feathers. Even though she's pulling back, she's not pulling away. Instead she ends up hooking her fingers in the pockets of his jacket and tugging on them as she peeks up at him. "Yeah, he was in the room with the paint cans with me." Sabs narrows her eyes and looks at him, her lips beginning to purse. "Don't you dare go in there and have some sort of a conversation with him. It's really not that big of a deal at all, it's just... Annoying. He wanted me to forgive him and be friends and I just want space to come to it on my own." As if that focused look on the bluerider's face is starting to hint at something to her, "Really." The tug brings his attention down where it probably should be anyway, down to her. He notes the look on her face and the brow does the furrow again. The tears might be gone, but when he brushes her cheek with his thumb he remembers they were there at one point. Eyebrows up on 'forgive', then right back down again, E'sren narrows his eyes and asks very calmly, "Forgive him for what? Did he make you cry in there?" This is a new thing. He isn't smiling, there's no grins, no jokes. And his voice hasn't ever been pitched quite like this. "He stopped talking to me for awhile." Sabella sighs and glances away, twisting her fingers into the fabric of his pockets. "Then when he wanted to again, I was angry with him. We were friends. He was one of the first friends that I had here and then... he was avoiding me and gone. It felt awful. He did apologize." His next question has her shaking her head. "Not like that. He feels like I'm abandoning our friendship now and he doesn't blame us. But he said I had to tell him I didn't want to talk to him anymore. And that's not what I've been saying, I just wanted the space. Then I thought he wanted to touch me and I just... I left. That's all." And got quietly upset on the way out. E'sren was never un-calm to begin with so there isn't anywhere else to go, but he is reassured by her explanation. Nothing bad happened to her, alone with K'zin. And maybe he does harbor that pent-up protectiveness from before, when she was upset, but she doesn't have to know that he's filing anything away for later. He just shows her the truth, which is concern for her, and loops an arm around her waist to pull her in and drop another kiss to the crown of her head. "I'm sorry you two are having a hard time. It sounds like he does need to give you some space." Nevermind that he wanted to touch her, though he does close his eyes above her, out of sight, to absorb that. Ugh. "And I'm sorry you got upset, but I bet it'll work out. And I'm not avoiding you and gone." She doesn't have to know and she can't know, really. Since she's yet to develop the ability to read minds, unfortunately. That would be useful though! Instead the twisty fingers in his jacket just continue and she allows herself to pulled against him. She slips her hands out of his pocket and instead loops her arms around his neck. "I think that he probably will now, for awhile." Sabs is not minding that kiss he drops the crown of her head either and she takes the opportunity to rest her chin onto his shoulder. "I know that you're not avoiding me. I'm really glad that we're friends." There's a simple contentment in that statement. Since she's a little closer to his eye level he lavishes her with some more attention in an effort to make her feel better, kissing next her forehead, then the little tip of her nose until she goes for his shoulder, then it's her cheek, her neck. "I'm really glad that we're friends too," E'sren replies in kind, close to her ear, which he kisses next for good measure, right there on her earlobe. After that little moment he pulls back and reaches for her cart, because he's not going to let her push it now that he's here, and suggests, "Let's go take this stuff to your place. You got some paint? Are we gonna paint?" This is... possibly a little more attention than she's used to getting from E'sren. At least in the lavishing department. She laughs as his lips move from spot to spot and she squeezes her arms around his neck. If there's any lingering sadness from her encounter a few minutes earlier, it's just about gone. She makes a point to lean forward and up, to brush her mouth onto his. At least briefly before he can pull completely back. "And some sandpaper. A lot of sandpaper. I need to wear some layers of the old crap off first." And well, if he's going to push the cart she's not going to get in his way. It is kind of heavy. And it's a little more than he's used to giving, which might play into him so suddenly moving for the cart in an attempt to make less of a deal out of it than he just did doing it. But he did return her kiss with the same warmth and affection, his attentions might not come very often now but when they do he means them. He pushes her cart for her like a gentleman, though it takes a rough shove to get it going again, and grins. "Sounds like a plan. Out with the old, in with the new." E'sren's grin turns on her and gone are the worry lines, the severe concern. It's there and gone in a flash. Sabs sighs when he breaks fully away and she drops her arms, letting them curl around her in a self-hug. But it's not something that you can push, though she does look just a little bit disappointed. And so he pushes her cart and she falls in-line beside him, occasionally reaching forward to balance something that rocks too much in the pile. On the walk to the bowl she'll keep them entertained, gossiping about that day that Telavi bailed on more drills because of her you-know-what and how amazing and funny it was that all those people rushed up to see if she was really dying or not. |

Awwww. Protective E'sren is <3. Even if he assumes the worst, though it's totally understandable why he might suspect the things he did. XD
And Sabella. <3 I like her little bit of frustration at the end. Damn these chivalrous goody goodies! X3
I can't see this being left alone, though~ >_>
