| Rasavyth's invitation to Solith is brief and perfunctory, the bronze distracted, his mind abuzz with activity. K'zin is upside-down when the Telavi arrives, on his favorite rug in the main part of the weyr. His knees balance on elbows and his face is red. It doesn't last long because it's high time he lets his feet find the floor again before rolling sideways onto his back. He stays there, eyes following the greenrider, "Hi." Dumping her stuff-- to the extent Telavi ever dumps her stuff-- doesn't take long either, and then Tela's smiling down at him; she moves to rest a stockinged foot on his chest, even, all 'conquered the red-faced beast.' "What's going on?" It's early! "K'del is sending me on a secret mission." K'zin grins up at her, his hands reaching to wrap around her stockinged ankle. "And all because I didn't punch V'ros and leave when I wanted to." The sense, he's making it, right? Tela wiggles her toes at him, playful; "He is? You didn't?" So brave! "Yes. But a for real secret mission, so don't tell anyone." K'zin puts on his serious face for a second. Then, goofy, "I've been drinking. It was before the mission." Then he glances to where there's a wine skin not far away, "And a little after," he adds guiltily. "But," in swift defense, "V'ros was really drunk," like K'zin probably is now, "And I have to wait for him to sober up anyway. And then I have to talk to Zak. And then Oliwer. And maybe Alida." Clearly, the mission is super secret. "But no," suddenly coming back to her question. "I didn't. Even when he wasn't making any sense. Not even a slap." Telavi mimes the proverbial needle, though she dimples at him first. "You have?! I can't tell," so of course she has to slip her foot-- if he lets her-- off so she can drop down and check more closely. First comes the one-eyed peering. "That is very, very secret." Then comes the other-eye peering. "Not even a tap? A tiny, tiny tap? Why Zak?" 'Oliwer' doesn't rhyme even a little. K'zin obligingly releases the ankle that she may make her inspection. "Not even a tap. He must be getting into trouble though because K'del said," here comes the drunken imitation, "'Why is it always you?' To him." He shifts a little, reaching one hand up to blindly search for the wineskin. "Zak because he or his wife might be able to help." "He said that?" That gets giggles, even when the movements distract Tela into following the the reach and not giving K'zin the wineskin so much as nudging it into his hand. "V'ros, V'ros, V'ros. But how can they help? What's even happening? What did he do?" V'ros, K'del, does it matter? So many questions for K'zin's pickled brain! K'zin squints at her, even as he draws the wineskin down to offer to her. "What did who do?" Evidently, it does matter to the pickled brain. "Maybe they can find him a job." It's not like he has to talk Tela into it; she'll take it back, drink, and resettle on his not-tap-but-lap. "All of them," because that will really help. "Find... V'ros a job?" "No, the man who says Aishani and Iesaryth were murdered." Didn't K'zin say that part already? He blinks at the greenrider as if this part was old news. The 'all of them' doesn't encourage more answers so there's just the blinking. "Wait, what?" Tela's got those wide eyes, right until they narrow. "But people were saying that before, we had the wildest stories up on the-- but-- for real?" Wide again, and not blinking. "Ummmm." K'zin looks at her, brow wrinkled and eyebrows raised. "Maybe?" That's the best he's got. "V'ros believes him and apparently he and A'rist," bleh, "did some kind of--" He waves a hand in the air, "information gathering, tracking down the sailor that V'ros rescued and hearing his story. V'ros said everyone there seemed to know and not care." Wherever there is. "Anyway, K'del wants it checked out. And not feeding more rumors," he waggles a finger at her as if she were the danger of that between the two of them, but at least it's playful. Only a 'maybe'? Telavi hears him out, though it may be only the weirdness that keeps her from interrupting more than a heartfelt, "Ugh." Admittedly, it's also followed by her feinting a nip at his finger when it comes into play... but that's as long as that technique can distract her from, "Not caring, that's so strange! Maybe they thought he was a liar, or crazy, or just has really really bad eyesight-- someone should check if he can even see okay at night-- but you don't just shoot things at dragons and not care." "I'm taking a healer with me," K'zin says with the 'got it covered' grin. Clearly, he's brilliant!! "But--" and then Tela sighs, because that grin. It delays her for a couple moments. "So..." where were they? "V'ros... rescued him, and A'rist helped find him, and the healer will check him out, and Zak... and his wife..." she's running out of fingers here! "...and Alida? Will find him... a job?" Not that she doubts K'zin exactly, but the tilt of her head does suggest confusion. "Zak or Gvanna might find him a job. Alida will keep track of him so we know where to find him. If it's true, there could be trouble." K'zin is able to clarify that much even as one distracting hand reaches for her hair. The braids, he wants them. "Trouble," Telavi agrees, green-today eyes smiling down as that tilt turns into more of a tip, even the as yet unfallen braids swaying off her shoulder to aid him in his quest. "Lots, and lots, and lots of trouble," which isn't here right now, and neither are sad-making old memories... and that's more than fine. |
