| Seaside Hold Tavern, Southern Continent(#1636R) On the tip of the Southern Peninsula sits a tiny fishing hold. While the population isn't exactly large, their dockside activity is bustling. There are a number of small taverns that sit along it, catering to sailors and traders. Some of the more run down establishments tend to a rougher crowd. This particular building isn't great but it's not the worst of the lot. The floor is dirty and the lights are dim, but only one out of every 3rd person looks as if they might steal all our marks. Poker is played nightly, drinks are freely flowing and the women- well. You know. Even with the promise of spring lingering about the spires, true warmth and sunshine still seem to merit a suggested trip south. The little tavern seems lively enough in the afternoon sun, even as the once-scribe makes her way to an empty table with a pitcher of beer and mugs. "There was something I wanted to ask you about." The younger woman begins as she settles in to pour. "Do you want to continue our sparring?" Jadzia is idly watching the other people in the tavern as Edyis brings the beer and mugs to a table. The brownrider follows with the second of two shots she ordered behind the ex-scribe, the first already emptied and left on the counter. "I didn't really want to start in the first place," she admits, but shrugs as she settles into a seat. "Why do you ask? Decide you don't like it?" "Whether I like or dislike a thing does not usually have any weight on whether or not I choose to pursue it." The once-scribe points out, diplomatically. She lifts her mug to her lips, taking a draught before continuing. "But, the objective was never to match a guard's fighting competence, it was to hammer in the basics of self-defense, to prepare for the training that comes next." The mug makes a soft sound as she sets it down on the table. "So I was curious to see if you wanted to join me." In pursuing that next step goes unsaid. She can sound as diplomatic as she wants, Jadzia's still going to roll her eyes at Edyis and say, "Bullshit." But she doesn't seem to care about the claim being defended because she picks up her mug to give the beer an experimental gulp. "What training comes next? And from who? You aren't going to find much better than G'laer." For self defense, anyway, as far as Jadzia is concerned. "I never said he wasn't competent as instructor; his style just isn't a thing I was supposed to learn in depth." She responds, carefully, unperturbed. "Savannah," Edyis explains, "I start practicing with them during their warm ups next month. Since it will fall about the same time as our training sessions, I thought you might be interested." "Are you always this hostile when it comes to the guys you want to bed?" As for the second part the scribe gives a noncommittal shrug, studying Jadzia as though in a new perspective. "Yes, well why do you think I was asking?" She says of the presumption. "Not that anything has been said officially." "Are you talking about G'laer or R'hin?" Her smile is less tight now, but not really any friendlier. "Anyway, this isn't me being hostile, Edyis. Hostile involves fists. And I'd hope you'd at least dodge a couple of them at this point." Jadzia is just sitting here, though, drinking her beer like a normal alcoholic. "Does it matter which? I specifically meant G'laer, but I suppose if you want to bed R'hin too, all the more power to you." There's something dark in that smirk and chuckle. "Dodge, evade, escape. I am fully aware that in a real fight, I don't stand a chance. If you ever went all out I am sure you'd probably kill me." "No, it doesn't matter," Jadzia admits with a small sigh. "He's pretty spry for an older guy. He's probably really good. Men his age have had a lot of experience. Assuming they can get it up." It kind of sounds like she has some experience with older men herself. "I can't think of any circumstance where I'd want to kill you. Hurt you, sure." But that's far from the same thing. She reaches for her remaining shot and knocks that back now, glancing toward the bar like she's not sure if she wants another even despite the beer. "Well, if you are curious as to his abilities you can always ask Bristia. I am reasonably sure they still knock boots every now and again." Edyis's expression full of mischief. The look to the bar has the former scribe sighing. "Come on, order what you want to fill that flask of yours, I will pay this once. Least I can do to thank you for the sparring all these months." "Or I can just sleep with him." Which might be easier for Jadzia than asking anyone else. "It doesn't really matter how they are, anyway. Most men are shit in bed." To the last, Jadzia makes a sound in her throat before nodding. "Well, if it's on you, I'll fill it up on my way out. Thanks." "There is that. I'm sure he'd be flattered by the attention. I wonder how long he'd actually resist the attempts to seduce him." She shrugs, "I wouldn't know, I've never bedded one." She muses, refilling her own mug and Jadzia's. "How do you like Savannah so far? I'm sure they've snagged you for a few test runs already. E'nest is a complete dolt, but the rest aren't bad. Nita's pretty cool too actually. She was from the class before yours, we actually stood together." "Why do you think he'd resist at all? Unless he's exclusive with someone, there's no reason for it. And usually they don't seem to care even if they are trying to be exclusive with someone." Jadzia, clearly an cynical expert on men. "Seriously, never? How old are you, anyway?" She has to think for a moment longer before she says, "I like them, I guess. They like to have a good time. And it's nice for someone to take an interest." "Oh, of course, he would. Probably because that would further play up the appeal. If you think about it, which do you value more? The thing that you put a lot of hard work into or the thing that you don't have to do anything to attain? Same reason he enjoys playing cryptic. I would hazard. He's anything but exclusive, but he plays the game well." She points out with a grin, before the question has her blushing. "Nineteen." "It's just sex. And I can get that anywhere." So evidently Jadzia doesn't value it all that much. "Nineteen and you've never been with anyone? Not even women?" Just in case she missed something there. She watches the ex scribe while she lifts her beer up for another drink, fascinated like someone might be if a baby was born with two heads. "No, no women. It got close once, during the Monaco gold flight, but I came to my senses before things got too far." She shrugs, "Never saw the point to it, since the whole purpose seems to be reproduction and I'm not planning on settling down anytime soon." Edyis hunches as she drinks as though trying to hide behind her beer. "The point is feeling good. Babies are just what happens when you aren't careful. But if you fuck women, you don't even have to worry about that. Kind of wish I was more into that sometimes. Life would be a lot easier." Jadzia can't do much about that, though, so there's beer in the mean time. "I've never settled down. I don't plan on it. It's not a rule or something that you have to." "Feeling good? My older sister always told me it was sweaty and uncomfortable and nothing to look forward to." Brows furrowing as Edyis ponders it, "Can't help who you are I suppose." She considers, shrugging. "No, I don't have to I suppose, but I might want to one day." "It is sweaty, sure. But if it's uncomfortable, you're either doing it wrong, or the man is a real asshole." There are possibly other reasons, but those are the ones that come to Jadzia right away. "Sooo, you're saving yourself for this person you might want to be with someday?" She makes that sound like she doesn't understand the point. "I don't know if I would go so far as to say that, probably would be more accurate to say that I just haven't met anyone who inspires the urge?" She muses, at least that is the story she decides to stick with. "Besides just because someone encourages the act, doesn't mean you settle down with that person, or even that you should." "Ugh, stop talking about settling down. It's depressing." Jadzia drains the rest of her beer, then reaches for the pitcher before instead deciding to get up and go to the bar instead. Time to fill her flask, apparently. Which must mean she's basically done with this girl time, too. Edyis chuckles at that, and pays for the brownrider to fill her flask with whatever she chooses as promised. "You asked, I merely answered." With all the grinning of a cat with a canary under paw. Regardless it's a quick hop back to the weyr and into more boring things. |
