| What: The Eye Rock goes up, and arguments begin over what to use the new caverns for. |

| Spring has well and truly reached the Reaches, and with it, a number of changes. For one thing, the new Eye Rock is finally in place, standing sentinel over the weyr. It looks more or less like the old one did, and the Starsmiths swear it'll do its job when the time comes, but it'll be a long time before that claim can be proven. A few people seem determined to continue to use the replacement Between visualisation, but on the whole, things otherwise seem to be settling back to normal in this regard. Most of the Starsmiths have, as a result, gone home. The same can't be said of the Smiths and Miners, still hard at work in that tunnel in the bowl. What was supposed to be repairwork only has turned into quite the project... particularly now, with the weyr's senior Smith putting in an official request to turn the new caverns into a new workshop for his staff. After all, having all that naturally hot water there is useful! Of course... now that the Smiths have put in a request, so have the Woodsmiths. And the Weavers. And it can't be much longer before others put in a claim, too. So the question is... what IS going to happen with these new caverns? Further afield, things seem to have quietened down after the flare up with Misty and Balen over that supposed theft. With no evidence, most of the other holds have backed off, but riders continue to get dirty looks from Balen. Now that the snows are all gone, there's more chance of something /actually/ happening, but what? Balen won't really be so stupid as to stop tithing, will they? And yet, despite all of this, it's a quiet spring for the weyr, all told. For now. After all... this is High Reaches. Nothing every seems to stay quiet for long. |
