Galleries, Fort Weyr

The entrance to the Sands and Galleries alike is little more than an
archway and a section of flat stone that curves into a broad pathway in
front of the Galleries that are carved into the right-hand side of the
Hatching Cavern. This pathway is set with three flights of stairs that
lead all the way up to the upper tiers of the Galleries; one set near the
entrance of the cavern, one set at the northernmost end, and one set
between both. Beyond the pathway, that flat stone dissolves into the Sands
proper, a golden expanse that sits before the large, odd engraving that
lines the far wall -- an etching that details the rotation of the Red
  Star.

It's sent with a tight but amiable focus upon the only queen he now feels any deeper attachment to - aside from the usual color loyalty to a gold, of course - now that Hraedhyth is gone...Ilicaeth reaching out to puff fine particulates of desert heat and mica upon Eliyaveith's mental doorstop. From this opening herald forms their mutual mental construct: the tower (of power?) in granite and quartz, metal and jewels, reaching for the sky dominated by a large golden sun and her twin, smaller blue luminary. « We got a small surprise fer Lilah...you too. » the 'Reachian male's dry, raspy baritone gleefuly informs Eli. « Mind if Edyis comes, too? » That's Akluseth's partner, of course, a quick image of the weyrling brown pair supplied in case Eliyaveith's forgotten. Behind the business part of this contact, implications of fine food, drink, and other things are to be had...as well as potential enjoyment.

There is a certain, expected distraction in Eliyaveith's answer, the majority of her mental focus devoted to the eggs that she has carefully arranged on the Sands and the rest to the little bit of dozing that she allows herself, just now, after convincing Lilah to come down from the top of the galleries to the railing to watch those eggs for her. Yet, there is an easy, welcoming warmth in response to the familiar mind of the blue, allowing, « You may come, » for the whole of the group, sleepily. Two of her eggs have finally been separated out for the moment, that gold one, finally, but also the stratified green that looks quite like a cabbage, both of them tucked close to her as she dozes. At the railing that divides sands and galleries, Lilah leans and watches the rest, true to her word.

That Akluseth himself isn't reaching across the distance is probably an act of pure restraint on his lifemate's part. Still there is a flicker at the edge, of salt sea air and a gentle warm breeze touched with campfire smoke. Touched with his usual sense of energy. « Don't break her, please. I need her for drills tomorrow Caeth. Oh and don't lick her to show affection... She hates that. » The chattery Brown rattles off to his blue compatriot.

Let it not be said that Ilicaeth can't move like greased lightning when the urge (or need) so hits him. It takes the often-lazing blue not more than 8 minutes to get his ass loaded for bear (well, with his passengers and their cargo, really) and in the air, the trip Between burping them out into the chilly air over Fort Weyr. With another tightly-focused comminucation to the watch dragon to say their hello, the 'Reachians are soon swirling down towards the main entrance to the hatching ground, Alida noting over her shoulder to Edyis along the way, "They're both at the Sands. Gonna have ta drag 'er away...if Eli allows, anyway." Snert. To Eliyaveith is murmured « I'll drop 'em off at the grounds entrance. Mind if I have a look? » Ilicaeth's form is projected mentally to the highest of the dragon ledges overlooking the Sands far below. He won't intrude...he'd simply like to see the gold - and her 'kids' - again! To Akluseth, the blue rumbles granite humor, his promise firm of not fracturing poor Edyis, though the blue does mentally offer up a massive, disgustingly-wet slurp of his giant tongue surrounding Ed for a moment. Hawhawhaw! Give them all some more moments, and Ilicaeth is indeed backwinging, landing firmly, and disgorging Alida and Edyis, the two women shouldering their various (mostly smaller) burdens in satchels and one smallish crate as they move into the Gallery section.

Only silent acceptance meets Ilicaeth's question, the queen already half-way asleep by the time he asks that she has no concern for who is or isn't watching: she is trusting her rider for once, for the moment. Even though Lilah's dark gaze lifts away from those eggs as soon as she catches the activity of Edyis and Alida, lingering on them like a question as she waits for them to join her. She does offer a simple, "Fort's duties," to the pair in greeting, however.

"High Reaches duties," Edyis offers in greeting, a particular satchel over her shoulder. There's a lopsided grin. "Thought maybe you could use a few good bottles, and a friendly face or two." The scribe offers in explanation leaving the particulars up to the bluerider. She moves over to the railing to study the eggs a moment before letting out a low whistle. "She did it; I bet you both are so proud."

Ilicaeth draws a puff of mica-sparkly dust and sand over tired Eliyaveith, leaves her in maternal peace, and then heaves his blocky form skyward to aim for that ledge higher above, while the women pick their way through the Galleries, towards Lilah. There's a distracted bob of Alida's helmeted head to the weyrwoman's call as they near, an open grin worn at times along the way. "What *she* said..." is noted on the heels of Edyis' formal greetings, though she adds in a quick recognition of "...weyrwoman," before the pair of riders move to settle themselves and their burdens right beside Lilah. Unless absolutely needed from this point on, this evening, though...fuck the formalities! "*Knew* she would..." the blonde clips off at half her usual volume out of respect for the snoozing gold, a small clap of congratulations aimed at Lilah's near shoulder. Grin. "Like Ed says, time ta celebrate with a few buddies. We brought ample sh..." No, not shit "...delicacies. And a special thingie fer you an' Eli ta commemorate this moment. Well, more fer Eli, really." Smirk. After she unburdens herself of her various satchels and that small crate, the bluie eagerly starts to pry the lid off the wooden box. Creeaak go the already-loosened nails.

"She is pleased; Liesanth is pleased. I am-- relieved," answers Lilah truthfully, her gaze sliding out towards those eggs again and her sleeping queen with a lingering thoughtfulness. It only ends in a sigh before she tears her attention away to return to Alida as she rummages, a hint of her brow curving upwards in a question. "You didn't need to bring anything. Though, I am nearly running dry, these days."

Edyis grins, unslinging the satchel and holding it in Lilah's direction. "A benden red, and a couple bottles of spiced rum." At the brow curve Edyis lifts a shoulder. "Are the candidates this time around as much of a pain?" The dark eyed scribe wonders, peering back at Al's unpacking.

"Who said *need*?" Alida clips off around a low snort to Lilah, green eyes looking up and over to the Fortian to show her humor for a moment. "Good...fer once, everybody worth it's pleased." Smirk. "We *wanted* to. Suck it up an' deal, Lilah: yer buddies 're tossin' you a private party." As the bluerider slowly hefts a padded, wooden box of 8"x 8" from the larger crate (is there more stuff in said crate, yet?), she looks over to Edyis, then all around at the Galleries, then murmurs, "Hardly private, though. Think Eli'll letcha' leave? Or you could close the Galleries fer a few hours...though that'd likely have yer Weyrleaders crawlin' up yer ass like bugs." Snert. To Edyis' unveiling of the spirits portion of their burden comes a low, humored, "Personally, I like the rum even more than the 'red." Give her a moment to straighten out, then take a seat beside Lilah, and Alida hands over the somewhat weighty, cunningly-crafted wooden box to the goldrider. It has a small brass catch at front, brass hinges at the rear, and is made of some fair hardwood, stained a mellow, light tone that allows the grains of the wood to show through clearly. "As long as they're..." Ugh. Stifle that, Alida. No words of the lost green shall marr *this* little celebration.

"We have more of them," Lilah replies simply even as Alida cuts herself off, "So, they are louder and always seem to be around, getting themselves involved in something. But, I might just be getting too old for them. It feels like forever since I was one of them." She accepts the box carefully, shifting it onto her lap as she glances back out to the sands. "No, she's not going to want me to leave, for a while. Unless Liesanth shows up to watch the eggs for her." Which doesn't seem like it is an unlikely occurrence, from the goldrider's tone, but it isn't happening just now. So instead, she focuses on opening that box.

"I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable dragging you away anyway, especially with it being her first clutch," Edyis admits turning her attention to those eggs. "Only been six months since Akluseth hatched and it already feels like a lifetime," Turning so she can watch Lilah's expression as the box is opened.

"It *was* ferever since I was one..." Alida comments wryly, the blonde having only nodded tightly to Lilah's words of more Candidates. "Typical white-knots..." the bluie comments of the hopefuls, the offering a shrug at Lilah being 'too old.' "All that fuckin' responsibility ages a mind." Maybe a body, too. Pause, headcock...grin. "Ilicaeth says he'd be deeply honored if Eli - you - would allow him ta guard, if Leisanth doesn't show up. He'd take it as a vow." Which apparently means something sacred and 'ultimate' to the blue...who's lounging on the highest of ledges above them all...watching with faceted green eyes all that transpires below. As the goldrider sets about opening the padded box to find what's within, Alida notes to Edyis, "Not sure I would, either, honestly." As for the weyrling's brown lifemate, "Ilicaeth said he's not supposed ta lick you..." Smirkie.

(( It's a Faberge-esque egg about 7" tall, made of ceramic glazed in a golden color with a pattern much like the (hopeful) gold egg Eli's guarding. It has a tiny golden catch and a hinge at the back. Inside, it's lined with golden sisal, and has a curled up brass dragonet on a pillow of sisal. Her eyes are little, faceted garnets. Inside the lid of the egg is stitched a pillowy pattern of golden thread, with little seed pearls where the diagonals overlap.))

"I think she would be relieved to have him watch. I've long since stopped finding any of them interesting," comments Lilah dryly about the eggs on the sands, unrepentant even given Eliyaveith's presence. Yet, she pauses on unveiling that ceramic, golden egg inside the box, fingers dropping over it briefly just to feel the material before she moves to close the lid back onto it quickly. "It is very pretty. Thank you." The box is left on her lap as she focuses on Edyis, a brow lifting in a hint of soft challenge. "I don't think you're allowed to say that while you're still in weyrlinghood. It hasn't gotten any better for you, then?"

At the word lick, Edyis very visibly shivers. "Certainly not, why ever would he want to?" Edyis eyes the bluerider suspiciously. For Lilah's question, there is another scrunch of her nose. "Probably not. But if you were to look at him now and trying to imagine a time when you could pick him up and carry him around you might feel the same." She teases warmly, "Easier now that we are in our space, and just going with the flow. Feels more like being another face in the crowd."

Alida looks just a hint let-down by Lilah's mellow acceptance of the only-partially unveiled, little gift, but the bluie quicky regains her composure, bobbing her now-bare, pale head once, then patting one of the three satchels at her feet. "Hope you like chocolate chip an' walnut cookies...or sugar cookies. Near-fresh from the ovens. An' a quick picnic setup, too. Don't wanna waste perishable, delicious foodstuffs, after all." Wink, pause. "Ilicaeth accepts, if you truly think it'd be okay." Up above them, the burly blue pushes to his hindquarters upon the topmost ledge, and gives a soft, low rumble of formal assent...his chest puffing up to make him appear even more formidable. Lance corporal Ilicaeth, on duty, SIR! Edyis' answer earns her a sly little smirk, word of the weyrling new digs evincing a few nods, and a murmured, "Nothin' like yer own home. Gonna' change it, any?"

Lilah's gaze slides upwards to that blue dragon, a hint of a smile before she calls up to him firmly, "Guard them well." And she won't stick around to get Eliyaveith's permission any further, not as she moves to stand while adding in offer to the two visiting riders, "Cookies and rum sound like just what the occasion calls for. And you can tell me more about weyrlinghood." That is directed towards Edyis with a smile, before the goldrider moves to slip from the hatching cavern and lead them back to her own weyr.

And guard them well, Ilicaeth does, launching himself out again, then winging down to the lowest observation ledge...to land, then finally sit upright, like a stone sentinel as he guards with level, keen eyes. None shall pass.
