| Four barely fit on the couch. Five didn't, especially with everyone suddenly needing more space than they used to. So Leova planted herself right by I'ro, sling like a white warning to be careful, and Sh'dor brought over some chairs they hadn't been using before and sat in one, propping his feet up on the part of the couch that remained. Two more chairs, two more people. She had thought it might be awkward, but mostly she was determined to make it work. So she busied herself with retying Sh'dor's boot laces together, making loose girl-loops that would be easy for him to pull free, while he watched her indulgently. Not that either of them didn't keep an eye on L'vae and S'trun too. S'trun was standing behind the remaining chairs, gesturing for L'vae to pick, the picture of a generous host. Though she hoped she was the only one who caught the slight tightness to his smile. Maybe he didn't like it, changing up that group of theirs, but he was trying. And L'vae? Stepping up. Taking that middle seat with a smile and a nod to everyone, that perfected social charm of his, adjusting the chair slightly like it was his own. I'ro didn't leave him too much of a chance to get settled, holding out his fist for that hello-knock some of them liked to do, the way canines liked to sniff each other. Not unfriendly. Not unchallenging. It wasn't as though L'vae didn't hesitate at that, but he knocked right back. Not quite smoothly, but it was enough to get I'ro smiling. Leaning back with his arm draped over the back of the couch, taking up plenty of space but well behind her head. Not too close. S'trun was taking longer, so Leova said, "Right. Who wants to go first, teach the new boy a thing or two?" A moment later he was down and talking, and she shared a grin with L'vae. Nobody had pissed on anyone's leg yet. Leova figured that was a good sign. |
