It wasn't the first time K'zin had gone back to Rhey. But after delivering Euan to Healer, another trip needed to be made. K'zin needed to ask about the rumors since her arrival there. What was Rone doing? Anything? Would he be brave or stupid enough to try to get at her while she was sequestered? It was worth asking.

Rasavyth and he had been careful never to land in the same place twice, and K'zin didn't think he'd been followed the fair distance to meet his dragon. As ever, the dragon's timing was perfect.

« You know, my K'zin, one such as he could be very useful at the Weyr. »

K'zin barely caught himself half-way up as he was taken by surprise by the timbre of the touch and what Rasavyth meant.

« What?! » He echoed it aloud, complete with spluttering confusion. Sure, Ras was plenty intuitive, but K'zin had never pegged him for a dragon who liked to Search.

Rasavyth hated repeating himself, but he was used to the necessity by now.

« No! No! » K'zin's reaction was vehement. « The Weyrleaders said Search inside the Weyr. You want to find someone useful, do it there. » After all, it wasn't necessarily Rasavyth who might be seeing consequences from their most recent Hold interactions.

Rasavyth thought about insisting. But insistences that are stemmed in emotion and intuition made him uneasy. He didn't like feeling emotional about anything, least of all about bringing some virtual stranger back to his home and possibly making him a part of it. It didn't change that he had the feeling, and a strong one, that Rhey would be a good addition to what would one day surely be his empire. But he elected not to press the point ... too much.

« I wonder what the going rate is for an offer of Search. » The bronze wondered aloud as K'zin took his place in the straps.

« Not enough to tempt me into another one of your ideas. Not today. »

But who knows what tomorrow could bring...
