| BENDEN AREA It's reported the Masterhealer has been in to visit Mastervintner Vyad, and laughter was heard from the old man's office for the first time in anyone's recent memory. After Tevara left, the good mood lasted for a short while longer before normalcy kicked in. It's also reported that the healer stopped in briefly with Craftsecond Clio, leaving the latter looking somber even as she was packing for yet another journey away from VINTNER HALL. At BENDEN HOLD, six month old Hulen is just starting to crawl, but his father, Dorbin, has signed into succession his second cousin, 26 turn old Mattias of Narrow Valley holding. The young man has moved into the manor and has taken up suite in a separate wing from the family. IGEN AREA IGEN HOLD is no longer quarantined, as the summer months bring with it sweltering heat and humidity. An entire section of the main Hold has been locked down, with no visitors allowed other than the healers tending to the ill. While the Craftsecond has visited, the Masterhealer has not. There are general stirrings, rumor mongering as dismissed by those in power, that a growing number of people are calling for Lord Wulfan's abdication. IGEN WEYR's Dosanyth rose, clutched, and hatched a small clutch of six (two browns, one blue, and three greens) in the last four months. It is Igen's poorest showing yet, and much of the blame is being placed on the Ierne bronze that caught too early. ISTA AREA The GLASS CRAFT has been reported to be making strides in a new type of glass; one that doesn't always shatter when dropped. Trial pieces are being tested within the Hall itself, though, for those with the marks, one tumblers might be available. ISTA WEYR will be holding its summer's end volcano drills: a spectacular aerial feat above a dormant volcano a few islands over. The SMITH CRAFT is said to be involved with setting up a pyrotechnic display in conjunction with these drills.
The WOODCRAFT has been watching the innovations being rumored to be coming out of the glass craft with some trepidation and has slowly, over the course of the last half year, initiated measures to pull back production in lumber and lumber-products. It has created an (artificial) inflation of cost of some higher end pieces of furniture. TELGAR WEYR's Y'stin's 'house cleaning' has been slow and methodical over the summer; but the upcoming weeks will see some major upheavals as he will arbitrarily change the make up of all the wings, seeding those few loyal to him as leaders and scattering those who are against him into wings with assignments that keep them close to home. It is a change that will shock much of the conservative Weyr and bring with it peace for a few weeks before an uproar begins. Those who know Weyr politics well, will see this one coming a hundred miles away. He's been seen frequenting Prinavi's weyr. SOUTHERN AREA It's numbweed making time down south, which means those with an aversion to work (or smells), are finding other places to be than the tropics. |
