She'd been picking pockets on people for turns now. Initially it had been with other children but as she got older, she'd outgrown the need to have a partner. It was just another person she'd need to share her marks with. Following Gordo's arrest by the Cromese guards, Sabella had done a lot of lifting. More than what she felt comfortable doing, but she needed it to secure some sort of safe passage out of the Hold.

It's true; she could have just asked the pair that stood watch to bring them to Greenfields. But she didn't trust that dragon that stood on the heights with his rider, the one with the leer in his eyes. She'd learned by now to trust that instinct when it kicked her in the gut. Conversely, the group of traders that parked with their wagons outside the Hold proper didn't give her that same feeling. They were a family unit, small. Just a pair of the canvas things on wheels, pulled by some sturdy herdbeasts.

And they took her marks, but not all of them. It wasn't even much of a discussion. They'd taken what it would cost to feed her and nothing more. Their youngest son was adorable and Sabella had enjoyed playing with him on the short trip to Greenfields, keeping him company while they walked alongside the wagons. She didn't know which clan they belonged to, only that their family traveled between the various holdings in the region.

She'd made it to her destination safely and had refused the offer to travel with them any further. Sabs had noticed, resented even, that look of pity that was evident behind the eyes of the family's patriarch. But she ended the relationship quickly and amicably before the discussion could begin again. And without asking had left a few extra marks in the little boy's jacket, along with a note to be good. She was sad to leave them, but she would have never really been a part of them. As nice as they all were.

And after all, she had a feeling that something was there waiting for her.

< Oooh. Good instinct there, trusting her gut as far as leering riders go. >_> I enjoy getting to see these little snippets of Sabella's travel. It's a shame she didn't stay with the family, they seemed so nice. But then... if she had, she probably wouldn't have Impressed! Can't have that.

< I'm definitely enjoying getting to see little flashbacks of Sabs's life and how she got in with Greenfields. Esp. her headspace and thought processes! ^^
