Evening already. It's not that long after dinner, and already full dark, though at least Timor's high and round while the glow-niches provide welcoming light. Telavi's seated with her feet propped up on one of the chairs, her boots dangling over its corner so as not to get it dirty, looking mediatively out over the Bowl-- or not much of anywhere, truth be told.

Hana enjoys the patio during the cooler parts of the year - less likely to be used, which makes it perfect for enjoying a pot of tea - something tart and citriusy, if the smell is correct. Because, of course, Timor's light makes it a perfect time to bring such a thing out. Thankfully those within the Snowais are used to seeing the hairdresser do this, and there's little protest at the sight of a platter with teapot and cups (just in case) swishing through. At the sight of Telavi all comfortable with feet propped up, Hana pauses though. "Oh, I beg pardon. I hope I'm not interrupting anything?"

Telavi glances up with a reflexive smile, but one that warms when she properly identifies Hana. "Not in the least. Please, sit." She even... well, she doesn't take her foot off the chair, but she does scoot it in under the table so Hana won't have to look at it; there are a couple others near her for the actual sitting, after all. "What have you got there? It looks warm."

"Yellowfruit and redberry tea - some sweetner as well," Hana shares, putting the lemon and raspberry teasetting on the table before taking a seat herself. "Would you care for any? It's nothing to keep you up all night, but it is rather warming, and doesn't turn nasty a candlemark later," she adds with a cheerful smile. "I never have plans to meet anyone out here, but I do like to be prepared," she admits, tapping the extra cup.

Telavi actually dimples at the other woman, an expression less common to her these last couple of sevendays; "That sounds ideal. Thank you, I'd be delighted." The darkness of the Bowl makes for a brief distraction, but though her brows tuck together slightly, in the next moment they've cleared and she's smiling back at her again. "What have you been up to lately, Hana, when you're not saving stray greenriders from dehydration or catching a chill?"

There's a bit of a laugh, even as Hana's pouring two cups full of the hot beverage - accompanied, of course, by streamers of steam. "Oh, the usual thing - helping manage this or that, cleaning things up, mending and embrodery. Nothing all that exciting. What about you, oh greenrider in danger of frost?"

As soon as Tela gets that cup, she's cupping her hands around it in return, unashamedly enjoying the warmth. "I have, let's see. I have seen weyrling dragons trotting about and felt terribly old. Yesterday we dropped down from sweep to help a wagon that looked stuck on the shoulder of the road... only its driver was just taking a nap and did not like his burdenbeasts being scared. Today was hunting... but. Hana. What do you think about-- oh, but no, I should ask you first," and the greenrider does look momentarily penitent. "Do you like talking about hair even when you're off-duty? Or is it too much like, well, work?"

Hana grins over her cup, the steam wreathing her expression, "It's only work because I like it. Are you needing some help pre-Gather, or some such? And I don't blame that driver. It couldn't have been easy to calm them down, though I'm glad he was alright, and the wagon itself was in no difficulty."

Tela's raised finger signals she'll get to that in a moment, for she has to say a touch defensively, "If only they had roof signs. 'HELP' or 'ALL OKAY,' in all caps, that would help. And it's not like we landed right on top of them." But, "I don't think pre-Gather so much, besides, we went to ever so many over the summer. It's more..." she touches her long whiskey-blonde mane with unusual dissatisfaction. "I want something different." It's currently in a series of many fine braids, some braided together in turn, others loose.

"Oh, I wasn't casting blame - just understanding. It lands much softer, I'm told," Hana replies, before hmming and tilting her head. "For everyday use, or just special occasions? And I hope you aren't thinking of cutting it," she adds, giving the waist-long hair a concerned look - even if it is shorter due to all the braids.

Puzzlement widens Tela's blue-today eyes; "Understanding... lands much softer?" She takes a quick sip of tea. as though that might help somehow, and it does when she immediately smiles from the warmth, the taste-- only to look horrified at the mere suggestion. Once she recovers, "Everyday, I think. Or nice everyday is what I mean, maybe?"

It's after-hours, she's allowed to be less than perfectly filtered with what comes out of her mouth. Hana hms, and tilts her head, "How are you with multi-strand braids?" she puts down her cup, "More than three, or even adding in layers? That is often nice for extra-special, not-Gather days."

"Those are fine," Telavi offers, though evidently unexciting. Although, "What do you mean by layers? Like a pair of crowns, one inside the other, that sort of thing? I was thinking... I was thinking some of it long, but not so it gets in the way. I've been using a little coronet just to keep it out of my face and the rest loose, but," Tela sighs tragically. "It's just not doing it for me."

Hana hms thoughtfully, "That could work, but ...." she falls silent again, trying to get the words right. "I was thinking more of two sideways braids along the back. From temple to middle o the neck, meet. If you wanted, you could double that and then braid them together in a three-strand. Even leave some loose so that the braid ways it down and keeps it mostly out of the way."

Telavi's gaze goes unfocused, not in the 'talking to dragon' way-- though hers rarely if ever does anyway-- but imagining. "Mmm. I do like the braids that go partway down and then open up, sort of like tassels. Double them, like layers on a cake? Except a cake with a waterfall going down one side?" There's a slight pause. "A frosting waterfall, not a real waterfall, that would be soggy."

Hana grins, "However you want it; the layered look has a lot of potential, depending on how you like it. Crowns, side-ways slants, wishbone effects... Hm. That last makes me think I have spent too much time in the kitchens of late."

"As long as people don't try each grabbing a braid and snapping my head in half!" Tela teases. Or, mostly teases. "What have you been up to in the kitchens?"

Hana hms, "Lurking mostly. Or making a plate for Lady Azaylia, if need be." She would leave it at that, that's really not much of an answer. "Sometimes, just watching. Kitchens are... amazingly crazy at time. I think I am glad my talents aren't for the edible, beyond the making of teas." Speaking of, she puts her cup down - putting it down and then picking it back up again is habit, and tops it off. "Need it a touch warmer?"

That 'Lady' for the senior weyrwoman gets an amused smile, but an affectionate one. "There is something to be said for watching other people work crazily," Telavi has to agree. "Especially when not feeling the need to control the outcome! I'm no baker either," and by her easy shrug-- easier than earlier in the evening, definitely-- happy that way. With that, she holds her cup out with a, 'Please." After a moment more, a touch wistful, "It's hard to believe it's month eleven, already."
