| On the sands, Br'mar bursts out laughing, then looks around and realizes where he is and how he should be conducting himself. "Uhm, yes, I agree with you," he says in response to the Weyrwoman, looking only slightly embarassed. Riell rubs her hands together "If he does impres..that means I can..well things will be different and perhaps we'll become involved again..one can never tell.." she says this quietly as she leans over to Jesica. Jesica shrugs a bit, "Who knows Riell." On the sands, Eleventh Hour Egg shivers in place at a rapidly frenetic pace. Riell quirks a brow at Jesica and nods..curiousity lighting in her eyes. As soon as V'dan's green Chymeth lands, Kaylira clambors down from his back, a large scroll clutched in her hands. "Telgar's duties! See, Ick?" she then calls over to fellow passenger Dalika. "This is going t'be *great*. And we got here 'fore the Candies came out, too." Tani glances down at the sands to see an egg shiver... "Ahh.." S'more grins and nods. Riell wrinkles her nose as she goes over what she said "I'm not sure that came out right." Jesica giggles at Riell, "I understood what you meant." Riell smiles at Jesi "Ohh good..but if anyone else heard..they might've gotten the wrong impression." Dalika scrambles down from Chymeth, somehow managing not to go tumbling. "Just great," she echoes, peering at the sands. "Before the candidates came out? So when *is* the entertainment going to come out?" On the sands, Josira pats Br'mar's arm and nods. "I thought you might feel that way. We usually have the same thoughts about this sort of thing." Her eyes scan the eggs, "This could be over before we know it." Kaylira shrugs, scooting up to a seat on Chymeth's leg and peering down at her hide. "Don't know. When the Weyrlingmasters bring 'em out, I guess. Got a guess on which color'll Hatch first?" She scowls at the hide. "Mum's list says she bet 'twill be green. That's silly. It's going t'be a *brown*." On the sands, Br'mar continues to watch the eggs as they rock (really, they are) and smiles back at Josira. "In a way, I'm glad, but in another way.. I'll be a little depressed after it is over." T'quinn says, simply, "Blue...blue will be first." S'more nods toward Kaylira. "I'd agree with brown." S'more adds, with a frown, "Although, from pure numbers, green'd make the most sense, I suspect." He shrugs. Jesica chuckles, "Nah, green." On Mauroth, X'dren tears his eyes away from the eggs, grinning. "I think green... but I'm biased, of course." Tani says "prehaps a blue." Dalika wrinkles her brow in vague distaste, "Oh, so she's going by simple numeric probability? That's so dull. I say, uh, bronze, since that's *unlikely*." And she doesn't have any marks on the outcome, so she can say this with impunity. Kaylira beams at being agreed with, even if only by one. "I always guess brown, since I like brown. Sometimes I'm right. But Mum almost always guesses greens, 'cause Lysseth tells her to." A squint at the instructions she's holding. "I'm supposed to offer a two-mark bet on green first. Mum's going to lose all her money, I just know it." Terrilia glances over. "Hey X'dren, Mauroth!" She grins. "Definitely blue first." On the sands, Silent Moon Egg rocks and bobbles like the sands it lies in is an ocean. S'more grins, "I'll wager some marks on green with anyone else willing to wager on a color that isn't their own." On Mauroth, X'dren waves to Terrilia, grinning. "Hello, Terrilia." Leya grins over at Kaylira, "I believe she has more than two marks if I what I've heard is correct. And I'm not going to bet on any color, because I'm sure /I'd/ loose all /my/ money." Terrilia smiles at X'dren. "How've you been? Not that it's been very long." On the sands, After Sunset Egg shudders and shimmies in place. Rinath emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she swoops down to a landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On Mauroth, X'dren calls down, "Doing well enough. I'm tired, though, so I'm not coming down to sit on hard rock. How about you, Terrilia?" On the sands, The Secretive Elopement Egg jerks to one side a little. Kaylira agrees breezily with Leya, "Oh, sure, she's got lots, she bets all the time-but...." She turns the hide around to display it. It's been neatly marked with all sorts of betting instructions, for various sums. "She's got lots of other things I'm supposed to collect on or pay up after the Hatching, too." Lowering her voice as much as she can and still be heard, she confides, "I sometimes think she likes gambling a little *too* much. Just don't tell her I said so, please?" Leya chuckles and nods to Kaylira, "Oh, believe me, I won't." She then quirks an eyebrow and asks, "Why didn't she come herself? Is she still not feeling well?" Rinath lands with a gentle flurry and tucks in her wings quickly, presumably to take up less space. However perhaps it's merely to allow herself more room to swivel her head around and gaze at everyone and everything curiously. "I won't," Dalika promises with an earnestness that *could* be faked-but then again it might not be. "I never tell anyone what someone *really* said. It's more fun if I embellish the remark first. But I won't even tell an embellishment of that to her." Terrilia nods up to X'dren. "Looks more comfortable, that's for sure. Cy and I are doing well." Kaylira shakes her head. "Nay, Lyss wrenched her wing practicing with Kilvath the other day-" A pause here to wave brightly to Rinath and her rider. "-So she couldn't fly, and she won't let Mum ride other dragons. She'd sulk." A sidelong look is slanted towards Dalika. "Thanks, Ick. I think." Saskia gives Rinath an affectionate pat, then swings out of the straps and slides down her neck. As soon as Saskia's safely on the ground, Rinath nuzzles her lifemate, mussing her hair. Leya ahhs and nods to Kaylira, "I see." She then sees Rinath and also waves a greeting to Saskia. Dyrik carefully makes his way down from Zakath's neck, availing himself to the proffered foreleg. Saskia smiles as she waves "Hi Kaylira. Sorry your mum can't join us in the festivities." She turns and waves to Leya as well. "How's it going?" Dyrik watches from where he's been standing the whole time. Tovith rumbles a respectful greeting to Rinath. F'gon's eyes glaze. "Uh oh, duty calls..." He smiles to S'more ruefully. "I have to go. I'll see you later." F'gon jumps onto Hollerith's back with one powerful, agile leap. Hollerith rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. S'more waves. "Bye, F'gon!" Leya smiles at Saskia from where she's standing with Tovith, "Fairly well. And you?" Taralyth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he wings down and lands lightly on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. S'more waves to I'sai! Zakath stops thrumming long enough to rumble to Taralyth. Kaylira adds, "Aunt Kena will be doing the drills and stuff for awhile, I s'pose. Mum'll probably tell people tomorrow. She was hoping maybe Lyss's wing would get better right away, but nay luck." Turning, she waves her large hide Saskia-wards. "Heyla, Aunt Saskia! 'Tis okay. She's sent me to do her betting for her." Beam. Kay is very proud of this duty, oh, yes. Rinath pauses long enough in her general persual to look Tovith over and give him a soft amused rumble. Meanwhile Saskia grins "Me too. Trying to keep Rinath out of trouble." Rinath croons sweetly, the picture of innocence. Jenni leans her head on T'mren's shoulder, waiting for the excitement to begin. Terrilia glances up and also waves to I'sai. T'mren slips his arm around Jenni, smiling at her. Tovith raises up some, dislodging Leya as she was leaning against him, and rumbles deep in throat as both Leilanth, Taralyth, and their riders arrive. On the sands, The Etched In Darkness Egg jerks to one side a little. On the sands, The Sky's Evening Gather Egg shivers a bit. Taralyth files in after other latecomers, swooping down into a brisk talons-out landing with a bright-warbled greeting to match. Julanna turns around to see who S'more is waving so exuberantly at, and grins at I'sai and Taralyth. Jehrina waves hurriedly, peering down at the sands and muttering something about some sort of minor emergency that simply had to have her attention. I'sai slides down from Taralyth's neck. Jenni waves to her fellow Telgar group from her spot under T'mren's arm and smiles. "Yah, the gang's all here. Or almost so." Saskia laughs "She did? That's quite an undertaking, Kaylira. I guess you're starting young." Rinath continues to croon as she gazes at Taralyth or is that I'sai and does her bottom wiggle slightly or is the sands heats from the hatching ground below? Dyrik smiles over at Jenni and T'mren, the looks back at the sands. Public announcement: S'dar announces "Greetings, my friends! The dragons have commenced humming here at High Reaches Weyr, which means that the clutch on the Sands, laid by golden Yventh and sired by bronze Silventh, is about to hatch! We would be honored if you would come and join us for this joyous event. Come a'dragonback, or feel free to +go hrw-bowl, wbf, hg to enter our Galleries. Or, if you wish, you may view the proceedings from afar by adding a +watch to hrw-sands. We wholeheartedly apologize for the delay, but then, who can truly predict when dragon eggs will hatch? Thanks, and have a pleasant evening!" Dalika is standing somewhere near Kaylira; at this point, she furrows her brow in sudden thought, and after a moment she notes, "You have a lot of aunts, don't you, Kay?" There is a very slight hint of irony in her voice, but it's really not much. Just barely there. Leya waves to both Jehrina and I'sai, then leans back against Tovith as he settles back down fully on the ground. Kaylira pokes at the hide she's holding. "She gave me this list of instructions. Mostly I just have to tell Uncle V'dan to pay up or collect from people and write down what happens. She only let him hold the marks 'cause she knew he knew she'd make an Aunt out of him if he misplaced any," she informs, earning a dirty look from V'dan. "Sure, Ick. I'm a weyrbrat. Most of us do." Either way, Taralyth crouches low - though his beginning thrum does shift briefly into that throatier croon - with only neck and tail snaking out beyond, even his prism-sparked wings tucked neatly in above his flanks; as for his rider, he may wave to S'more, Terrilia and the others, but also picks up speed to skitter past Rinath as he heads Tovith's way. Trying to see past the dragons, "Leya, are you in there somewhere?" Mallorith emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she backwings to a neat landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, S'din strides out onto the sands and stops, turning with military precision and bowing to Josira, Br'mar, Silventh and Yventh before marching to take his place. V'han slips off Mallorith down to the ground and chuckles as she whuffles him gently. Zakath warbles brightly to Mallorith. On principle. Mallorith warbles around as V'han wavies to all. On the sands, Midnight Madness egg begins to rattle a bit more forcefully now. Leya straightens and goes up on her tip-toes to I'sai might be able to see her better. "Over here, I'sai!" She says waving her hand over her head towards him. Jesica leans over and she bounces a bit as she peers at the sands, "Here come the candidates." she syas before waving to V'han, "Vhan, good to see you again!" Saskia smiles "Hey Rina." then grins at Kaylira "Yeah, you need many aunts to keep up with ya. I hope it wasn't too long a list." Whether she's referring to the instructions or list of bets is unclear. Riell laughs and nods "Yes.." she says and leans forward. Terrilia sits up straight, fixing her eyes on the sands now. S'more grins and peers down at the sands, waiting for the white-robed vic-figures to appear. Trine peers down excitedly at the candidates, rubbing her hands together vigerously at the suspense.. Jenni grins over at T'mren and giggles some reply to him as they speak in quiet tones. Taralyth arches his neck, sidling a little closer to the latecomers to clear even that little more room for Mallorith; I'sai slips in by Leya, then startles, "What did you do to yourself? You're -dressed up-! Fancy, fancy." Jehrina grins a bit, nodding to those who've greeted her. "Looks like I didn't miss much after all. Good." Mimenth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she wings down to a quick landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, S'dar wanders out with a large smile on his face, looking quite cheerful. It appears as though he is speaking to the air on his right about something or other. He blinks, and looks around, as though expecting someone was there - maybe Laurel? Seeing that he's gone and marched right out into the Sands without Laurelin, he grins a bit sheepishly, then puts some purpose into his stride so as to fool others into thinking he meant to do that. He nods to the sire and dam, then heads over to the side. V'han sees a waves and waves enthusiastically to Jesica. "Jesica! Hi!" Leya can't help but laugh at that, "This is hatching! I think it's good dress up for something special like this." T'mren winks at Jenni, whispering to her. Jesica grins and head over to give V'han, "How're you and Mall doing?" On the sands, One of the eggs, a very faintly colored pinkish-red one, wobbles back and forth on the sands as though trying to burrow into them. The light reflects off its pale shell. V'han smiles and hugs Jesica. "We're great. You and Trisseth?" Kaylira insists, in an exaggeratedly wounded tone, "I'm nay as bad as Khari. She paints on everything." Another look is given the hide. "Oh... 'tis long. Real long. But she made most of 'em beforehand, so it's okay-I just have to see whether she wins. Going to bet on what Hatches first, Aunt Sas?" Her smile is hopeful. "I'm s'posed to put two marks on green." On Mauroth, X'dren eyes the sands intently, grinning... On the sands, Glowing Harvest Moon Egg bobbles and shakes more rapidly than before. On the sands, Laurelin comes out and walks quickly across the hot sand to S'dar's side, smiling and taking his hand shyly to squeeze it. Vallith emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he backwings to a neat landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. Jesica chuckles and grins, "Pretty busy, we don't have a lot of free time between Dragonhealing and wing reports and lists of injuries." Taelenna hops down Vallith's side to the ground, the dragon's sparkling eyes watching closely. On the sands, S'dar smiles at Laurel. "Here they come!" He grins over to S'din, Br'mar and Josira, sharing a wink... they know what it is like to approach the Sands with eggs a'wobbling. Julanna's gaze moves from S'more to Terrilia and back. She whispers, "Guys, I'm getting nostalgic." Then she leans forward, eyes intent on the rocking eggs. Thamath emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he banks and lands neatly on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. S'more nods at Julanna. Hanneth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she backwings to a neat landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. I'sai appraises her, "You look like you're about to be handfasted. But nice, especially - " and reaches for one of the ends of the scarf, even as further down the row, Taralyth noses briefly in Vallith's general direction by way of greeting. "Maybe should have dressed up more, but these are new-to-me if not new, and at least they're clean... Has anyone made any speeches down there, or anything?" Terrilia reaches over to squeeze Julanna's hand, once. "Yeah, me too." D'len slips he leg from over Thamath's neck and shimmies out of the straps, sliding down his mahogany brown neck to land with a gentle oomph on the ground. Miran gives her lifemate a loving pat before swinging a leg easily over Hanneth's slender dark neck and jumping lightly to the ground. On the sands, Arana walks in with Halam, glancing around her nervously. She gives a low bow to the sire and dam, then hurries to a place to stand. On the sands, Laurelin quickly moves to give Josira a hug, a huge proud smile on her face for the goldrider. On the sands, Halam steps out on the sands and bows to the gold Yventh and bronze Silventh. He then turns towards the weyr leadership gathered .Ma'ams Sirs" he says quickly before moveing further out on the sands. S'more says "Ooh! There they are!" Trine can't seem to stop moving, wether rocking back and forth or bouncing a knee. Dyrik looks over and smiles at D'len as he and Thamath arrive. V'han grins. "It's happening!" Miran tiptoes, searching the crowd for a good vantage point. On the sands, S'din turns at the sound of the galleries as the Candidates begin to make their way onto the sands. He smiles encouragingly at them and motions for where they should stand to some of the more dazzled ones, whispering encouragement to them. Taelenna briskly dismounts her lifemate upon landing, pausing only briefly with a hand upon Vallith's blue hide to glance around for friends. Vallith, in the meantime, quietly returns Taralyth's hello. Mimenth whuffles Thamath lightly then returns her gaze down upon the sands. Jesica grins and bounces next to V'han, "Ohhh, Halam and Arana? That's great!" D'len dismounts and smiles over at Dyrik. He strides over and slips up behind the candidate, peering over the young man's shoulder to look down below. On the sands, Br'mar nods silently to the first of the parade of candidates to enter, as well as the Weyrleaders and Weyrlingmaster. His true attention, however, is still focused on the rocking eggs to his right. Thamath warbles and wuffhuffs Mimenth happily, lumbering up to settle beside her. Leya grins at I'sai complement, "Thank you." She glances over at Taralyth, then back at I'sai, "I think you look very nice. And no, no one made any speeches that I have heard." Al'ric looks down at the eggs, quietly, watchful. Riell claps as she sees Halam "Ohh look.." she exclaims and quiets as she concentrates. On the sands, Alyeria quickly arrives on the sands looking quite nervous as she proceeds to bow to the dam, sire, weyrwomen and male riders. Quickly she moves to the forming circle, making sure she's at Eolan's side when he appears. Trine waves excitedly to Dyrik. Dyrik looks over his shoulder to stage whisper to D'len, "The eggs are taking their time." He spots Trine's wave and waves back to her, smiling. Hanneth muscles her way over toward some other High Reaches dragons and secures a place for her rider near the front. On the sands, Eolan looks back over his shoulder, then nearly runs into Alyeria as she bows. He straightens himself, putting a hand in front of him to cushion himself against jolting his fellow Candidate. He hurriedly bows to Yventh and Silventh, then takes a few more steps and bows to Josira and Br'mar, finally scurrying over to bow to the Weyrleaders, Laurelin and S'dar. Close on Alyeria's heels, he continues to make a semicircle. On the sands, Denali fidits her way onto the sands, clasping Divya's fingers tightly Kaylira cranes about on Chymeth's forelimb to peer at I'sai. "They don't give *speeches*, Uncle Is." Pause. Consider. "I don't think? Anyway, they didn't. Keep watching, Ick," she suggests to Dalika. "They'll be out soon-oh, there they are!" Cupping her hands to her mouth, she hollers down, "G'luck, Aunt Ro!" Mimenth warbles to her clutchmate, Hanneth, moving over a bit to make room. On the sands, Divya minces out onto the Sands, bows to S'dar and Laurelin, then Br'mar and Josira, and then more deeply to Yventh and Silventh. She straightens up and takes her place in the loose semi-circle forming around the eggs. D'len chuckles and nods to Dyrik, "So they are, so they are. Perhaps they were just waiting for me to arrive, hmm?" He winks at the candidate. On the sands, Yventh solemnly regards the Candidates as they straggle onto the sands. Her eyes linger on every one for a moment until she is satisfied that they may be worthy of Impressing -her- eggs. V'han peers down. "Go Halam!" Kheveth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he glides to a swift landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. I'sai scoots in as the local rider tiptoes not so far away, toying with the scarf all the while. "Thanks. And good. Or, bad, if I didn't miss any after all..." he slows, swivels to squint at Kaylira. "I'm your uncle? Is that polite or scary?" Terrilia nudges Julanna and points to Divya excitedly. Riell grins widely as Divya shows up as well. Jenni observes the bowing and scraping with a little smile and leans a little away from T'mren to eye those she knows on the sands. Kheveth descends to a landing, talons scratching against the ledge. Dyrik giggles, winking back to D'len. "Maybe they were!" His eyes return to the sands and the High Reaches candidates. On the sands, Belatedly remembering her manors, Denali takes a deep breath and gives herself a headache bowing to S'dar, Laurelin, Br'mar, Josira, Yventh, and Silventh in turn. Al'ric just leans against Tiganath, a small smile gracing his expression, his eyes dark and his thoughts difficult to read. Miran takes a seat on one of Hanneth's forearms and lets her feet dangle over the edge of the ledge. She squints. "I'm going to have to get spectacles," she says. Leya smiles softly down on the sands, "So many..." she murmurs. She then turns to grin at I'sai, an eyebrow raised as she eyes his hand, but doesn't say anything. She laughs, "I think she calls most everyone aunt or uncle." On the sands, Ro walks in at Saruh's side, taking a few moments to bow to the dragons and their riders on the sands, each in turn before following the trail of disturbed sand to join the other candidates. Julanna follows Terrilia's hand motion with her eyes. "What? Oh, Divya's down there! Do you see Jehran or Rhaine anywhere?" On the sands, Saruh steps out onto the sands nervously holding Ro's hand. She approaches the dragon parents and their riders and bows, somehow with a sensuality that manages to come through the robes. Kaylira explains at her most sage, "*Everybody* at Telgar and Benden's my aunt and uncle, Uncle Is, or almost. Even Uncle L'cher. But nay for real, don't worry. It doesn't mean you're related to scary Aunt Simeythria, so she probably won't knit you any sweaters." Terrilia shakes her head, eyes still on the sands. "Not yet, but I'm sure they'll be here soon..." N'ren slides quickly down the brown dragon's back to the ground, after hugging his shoulder lovingly. S'more shakes his head. "I only see Divya....and Denali. She's a sailor." On the sands, Sleepwalking Egg jiggles in place as it continues to move about. I'sai holds up the scarf-width to take a look at the batik; "Does she? Well, I'm glad she didn't call me aunt, then... oh, all right. No sweaters. Not that I don't like some sweaters." He loops the scarf-end into a veil for the lower half of his face, wiggling his eyebrows at the little-enough girl over the top. On the sands, The Secretive Elopement Egg hops to one side. On the sands, Eolan fidgets uncomfortably in his stark white robe, pulling it down in the back, which makes it come up slightly above his knees in the front. This, of course, isn't a good thing either, so he pulls it down some in the front, which in turn makes the back move to it's original position. His fidgeting seems to make him more nervous as his eyes dance over the eggs. Terrilia nods, giving S'more a quick glance, then looks back down at the sands. On the sands, Jehan steps quickly out, wincing at the heat, he bows quickly to S'dar, Laurelin, Josira and Br'mar and then bows deeply to the Queen and Bronze dragons, before glancing at Jehran and taking his place in the semi-circle. On the sands, Denali squeeks and tightens her grip even more on the Harper Candidate's hand. On the sands, Saruh takes her place in the forming ring of candidates, a glance at the moving eges results in widening eyes and a quicker step. S'more says "There's Je*H*an." Jehrina smirks a bit. On the sands, Arana shuffles her feet on instint, knowing the heat that will soon penitrate through her sandals. At the sight of the hopping, twitching eggs, she sucks in a breath. "Look!" she hisses to no one in particular. On the sands, Alyeria reaches out to take a hold of Eolan's hand if she can before she begins to shuffle her feet as the other candidates come out. Riell laughs softly and tries to get more comfortable. On the sands, Jehran pauses as he comes out of the passageway, as if taken aback by the immediacy of all the noise and motion about. He quickly recovers, however, and bows to the appropriate peoples before taking his place in the circle. N'ren slides down from Kheveth's back. He looks around, briefly, but then decides that it's too difficult to try and get anywhere, so settles to a seat between his dragon's foreclaws. On the sands, Divya squeezes Denali's hand back, and whispers, "Just remember VSC." On the sands, S'dar watches the Candidates with youthful enthusiasm as they stream from within the Weyr. He takes a few paces backwards, as though to watch all the eggs moving at once, but then changes his mind and moves a bit forward to watch the action from a closer range. Terrilia says "I met him, once...Oh there's Jehran!" Taelenna remains near the back, standing close to Vallith. She stands on her tiptoes and squints as each new Candidate graces the sands, applauding for the ones she knows best. S'more nods. "There!" On the sands, Ro turns her silvery gaze upon the movement of the eggs and her breath catches. She has to remind herself to breathe again. Leya giggles at I'sai antics and comments, "From what I've heard from Kassi I don't think you want any sweaters from her any of her family." She eyes her scarf, "You like it?" she asks teasingly. On the sands, Halam continues to slide around the circle as the rest of the candidates arrive on the sands. On the sands, Rhaine and Celis stumble out onto the sands, holding tightly to one another's hands. They bow together to dam, sire, riders, and weyrleaders alike, and head to the circle, whispering nerviously. Kaylira giggles at the bronzerider, shaking her head. "Nay *these* sweaters, Uncle Is! They're all scratchy and usually pink." She leeeeans forward on Chymeth's leg to peer down. "Brown first, brown first," she chants, never mind what Mum's marks are on. On the sands, Eolan realizes Alyeria's hand is in his own and he gives it a squeeze, grinning down at her. This seems to calm him some as well and he leans down to whisper something in her ear. On the sands, Jehan finds Jehran quickly, feet shuffling and stepping to try, in vain, to avoid the heat, he spots Rhaine and Celis, giving them a quick nod over. Al'ric looks toward Kaylira, and his first real smile of the evening comes out. Briefly. On the sands, Spiriel walks out onto the sands, her pace not showing the nervousness that is evident from her hands clenched in front of her. She walks forward, bows to the Yventh and Silventh and their riders, and bows to the Weyrleaders. She finds her way to a place in the semicircle starting to form around the eggs and tries to not look nervous. On the sands, With a screech, a smallish bronze breaks his shell asunder, the first of the rocking eggs to crack and reveal its occupant. As he examines his new surroundings, he seems disgruntled by something. Down goes his rump for long moments, as he contemplates the clusters that stand in front of him. On the sands, Josira eyes the Candidates with no less scrutiny than her dragon. Her gaze lingers for a moment on Divya as that girl whispers to her companions, then flickers over the rest of the Candidates. Satisfied, she turns to her Weyrmate for a moment with a smile. I'sai says through the scarf, nearly as gravely as Kaylira had been, "I do. And ... pink? No, I don't want pink. But I -did- think I heard Jehran's name, and - Divya? And where's Ro? Or a farviewer when you need one... oh, right." Taralyth leans out, looks. "Bronze first." Al'ric sounds pleased here, almost smug. "Good for you, Yventh." Jehrina's face suddenly sports a large smile. Her attention's obviously caught by Jehran. Saskia finally notices what Leya is wearing and whistles softly "You look great!" then laughs "I'sai, it suits you well!" On the sands, Silventh croons at the bronze to continue. Almost with a huffy sigh the bronze starts out on his quest, and with relative secrecy selects his lifemate. The only way to tell is the from the 'Reaches boy's happy cry of the new bronze's name. V'han oohs. "Bronze first!" On Mauroth, X'dren chuckles softly. "we were all wrong-bronze!" Miran squints some more. "That's not all of the candidates, is it? Where are the rest?" She stretches up a bit in her seat. On the sands, Ro blinks "A bronze, that bodes well for this hatching." On the sands, Denali looks at the bronze in awe, "Bronze, bronze is always the best to hatch first!" S'more says "And Spiriel, too!" On the sands, Celis stares at the eggs around her and sucks in air. "That was quick!" On the sands, Jehran taps Jehan on the shoulder to draw his attention to the first Impression. Riell grins and nods her approval but remains quiet for the most part. Dyrik nudges S'more. "Spiri!" He points, then realizes S'more's already seen her. On the sands, Alyeria can't help but give a little giggle before her eyes widen at the first impression, feet shuffling on the hot sands. Her hand grips Eolan's tighter before she points with her free one at the boy and bronze. On the sands, Divya nods and says, "That is a good sign!" On the sands, Rhaine gapes and leans back a bit, watching the bronze burst from his shell, then find his lifemate. "It was!" She then finally spies Jehan and Jehran, nodding to the pair of them. Terrilia smiles happily, leaning forward to see better. On the sands, Br'mar lets out a sigh of relief as the first dragon cracks, then impresses after a little nudging from his lifemate. On the sands, S'dar nods to Laurelin. "Good omen, I've heard it said." On the sands, Jehan gasps as the Bronze cracks shell, "That has to be a good sign," He spots the impression, "So fast," he mummurs, calling a "Well done," to the boy. On the sands, S'din smiles widely as he escorts the first pair off the sands, looking pleased as if he had something to do with this. On the sands, Halam's head snaps around as the cracking of a shell brings his attention back to the eggs. He starts as he sees its a bronze "This will be good luck for the weyr" he whispers On the sands, Saruh grins and nods, her swaying from side to side matching the little ones paces. "And he knows who he wants. A very good sign!" Jenni glances over at the jabbering riders with some amusement, she doesn't seem too inclined to join in, perhaps it's loud enough that she figures no one would hear her anyway. Jaereth shifts slightly, eyes whirling with near-pleasure at the first hatched. On the sands, Arana smiles. "Bronze, first hatched and first impressed.. has to be a good sign?" Jesica grins and she nods a bit, "Ahhhh, good start to the hatching." Leya giggles at I'sai, then quickly turns to look at the sand, well, as fast she can with the scarf in her hair still in I'sai hand. "Ooo, it's a bronze first. And I think I do see Jehran, Ro, Jehan, Arana... I know lots of the candidates!" she finishes with suprise. On the sands, Eolan looks where Alyeria is pointing and nods, "A bronze broke shell first! That's good luck." He grins and watches for the next egg to crack. Trine claps a hand over her mouth in pure extatic appreciation for the boy and his bronze. Al'ric's arms then fold across his chest, and that small, dark smile reemerges. On the sands, Laurelin oohs softly and nods at S'dar's comment. "Very good omen." She smiles as if at some private thought. Tebrelth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he wings down and lands lightly on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, The Midnight Madness Egg jerks to one side a little. V'hryn hops down Tebrelth's side to the ground, as the dragon rumbles softly. On the sands, The Midnight Snack Egg jerks to one side a little. On the sands, Spiriel smiles as the egg cracks open, and again at the impression. She doesn't speak though, just nods in agreement to the others who expressed her thoughts. V'han nodnods to Jesica. "Of course, green is best." On the sands, Denali eeks, "Another one!" On the sands, The Crepuscular Insect Egg jerks to one side a little. Kaylira pipes up, "Aunt Ro and Halam and Jehran and Ely's son, whoever he is, I forget the name, they're all Standing." She consults the betting sheet. "It'd be good if they Impressed. Awwww... bronze?" She seems rather disappointed. "Oh, well, he's pretty. And good luck is a good thing-hey! Uncle Lace!" She waves, energetically no less, to V'hryn. On the sands, Adela barely joins the group along with Owen as the first impression occurs. The pair unsettled by the elated commotion on the sands take a moment to gain their bearings in relation to the remaining eggs and candidates. On the sands, The Midnight Madness Egg gives a gentle shudder, where it rests cradled in the warm sand. Miran leaps from her vantage point on Hanneth's forearm. "Where is Miralin?" Her body is taut as she stretches to her full height, as if she'll see better that way. "Where is my daughter?" Jehrina comments, "Eolan. Eolan is Elyandra and L'nay's boy." Tovith rumbles his baritone approval as the first hatchling finds his lifemate, then continues to hum deep in his throat, his eyes fixed on the sands. On the sands, Halam waves to the lucky lad before again turning his attention to the jumping eggs On the sands, Ro murmurs to Saruh "Looks like this is going to be a quick one, with so many eggs rocking and all." On the sands, The Sunrise in the Desert hops to one side. I'sai impartially hikes his brows at Saskia, too, for the compliment; "Keeps the warmth in, too," even if it does puff out most oddly as he breathes, like an inflatable goiter. "Bronze, do you remember hearing which at ours hatched first? With all the steam and all..." he nods Jenni's way, too, recognizing that clutchmate as well. On the sands, The Midnight Madness Egg tilts and falls over sideways, slowly, as if through water, then is motionless once more. Miraeth raises her foreleg a little, elevating so that her lifemate has a better view. "Jehran -- I see him! And there's Rhaine!" Julanna's voice rises in excitement. Then, "What, Miraeth?" She turns to look at the green, and then searches the crowded ledge for N'ren. Spotting him, she winks. On the sands, Rhaine just shifts back and forth on her feet, the boots not helping her all ready sweat soaked feet any. On the sands, Celis's eyes go wide as she watches the eggs all around suddenly begin shaking and rocking. "Oh wow.." she says and squeezes Rhaine's hand all the tighter. "I can't believe this is really happening..." Dalika has been watching and listening and all, really, she just hasn't said anything. "Uncle Lace?" she asks Kaylira with a bemused look. "Isn't that...well, you know, it just sounds like an 'Aunt' name." On the sands, A slight -crack- is heard above the general noise, and a series of small fissures begin running across the surface of the Midnight Madness Egg, spreading from a small hole where a tiny snout can be seen poking out. On the sands, Green eyes flick from side to side to try and see every moving egg, as Jehan repeatedly nudges his friend, "Eggs," is the only comment he comes out with. On the sands, Spiriel watches the eggs move, her eyes moving from one to the other. She seems to be relaxing a little, the distraction of the shaking eggs helping rather than making her more nervous. On the sands, Denali looks over at Divya, "What do you think'll be next?" On the sands, Alyeria nods to Eolan's words before her gaze focuses upon the moving and shuddering eggs, "It's so hot." She mutters more to herself then Eolan as she wipes the sticky hair off of her forehead. On the sands, Fissures rapidly spread across the entire shell of the Midnight Madness Egg, and the hole widens suddenly and forcefully, the egg shattering in one movement and falling away, exposing the glistening brown body that was inside. On the sands, Halam elbows Arana "look a green. Isn't she sweet?" S'more calls back to I'sai. "Brown was first at ours." Zakath rumbles his utter agreement. On the sands, Contents
Mizzly Chiaroscuro Brown DragonetOn the sands, A finely crafted dragonet hued in an umbrous cloudburst of cooling rain amidst the brightest light of a perfect summer day. Over his substantial frame light and dark dance a waltz of synchronized harmony, each taking their turn in leaving their mark. All the caliginous shade of a black pine forest manifests in the swarthy cast of his headknobs and marks the arete along his neck and back with a somber shadow. His muzzle and underbelly are tinted in the fainter shadings of a sunlit orchard while his flanks are given to dapplings of apple gold over a soft and yet sunny chamois. Splendiferous wings are held partially open more for a dazzling display than for any conscious thoughts of balance. Luminous wingsails are adrift in swirls of summer sun and transparent amber, repeating the pattern of bright and dark in smaller and smaller paths until the colors seem to almost merge at the very edges. A lord upon the sands, he strides forth from his egg, never once looking back, and goes in search of someone who can appreciate all the facets of his personality.
Kaylira runs a finger down the bet-sheet, repeating the name to herself. "Ooh, right, Eolan. Now I remember. Mum said it was just plain wrong for somebody born right after she Impressed to be Standing already." Dalika receives an innocent blink. "He's Uncle Lace 'cause he wears lace sometimes, sil-ooh! *Brown*!" Terrilia ahhs softly, gazing at the new little brown. On the sands, Saruh smiles, her attention never leaving the clusters of rocking eggs. "Ahh. I hope so." her grey eyes move restlessly from egg to egg, to stop, riveted to the next emerging dragonette. Jehrina says "Wait until she has one stand." On the sands, Eolan is still pulling at his robe with his free hand. His eyes widen at the shell that finally breaks and reveals the brown dragonet, "Look over there! A brown!" On the sands, S'dar looks closely at the dragonet, but can't seem to see it behind the egg... "looks like a brown in there... come out little guy..." On the sands, Jehan lets out a loud gasp, "A brown," he whispers, "And so strong looking," Miran turns and stares urgently at her dragon. Hanneth eyes her levelly in return. Miran throws herself up to Hanneth's neck. Miran steps lightly upon Hanneth's forearm and vaults to her seat between her lifemate's first two ridges, swinging up easily. On the sands, Denali's head coks to one side, "IT's a brown, but it could almost pass as a large blue.." On the sands, Ro comments softly "What an unusual brown. Have you ever seen coloring quite like that?" On the sands, Divya opens her mouth to answer, when the brown hatchling falls out of his shell. "I was going to say green, but I'd have been wrong." On the sands, Rhaine ohs quietly, watching the snout poke forward. "Brown, Celis...it really /is/ happening." Hanneth springs powerfully off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, she swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Trine's eyes are as wide as saucers as she tries to take in all the activities. On the sands, Laurelin can't seem to see the little dragonet, though a brown tail shows around the side of the egg that is in front of it. S'more just grins at the play of shadows on the little brown. I'sai momentarily shifts awkwardly, unconsciously, even as Taralyth does on his crowded ledge at Hanneth's abrupt departure - but then he's waving acknowledgement to S'more, not yelling, ...not yet. On the sands, Arana tilts her head at the brown and chuckles. "Look at that... doesn't seem to really want to come out of its shell.." On the sands, S'din crosses his arms over his chest. He says, almost to himself, but loud enough to be heard, "You've got to come out if you want to Impress, little fellow!" On the sands, Celis squeezes Rhaine's hand again, the poor girls fingers must be hurting "Look at it! It doesn't want to come out of the egg!" On the sands, Alyeria leans over to try and get a look at the hatchling that came out of the blue shell, "A brown? Really? I can't really see him." She tries squinting to see if that helps, before she remembers her poor cooking feet. Saskia shrugs to I'sai "Beats me. I was busy arguing with Rinath about whether she really was ever that small. But that was a fine clutch too. I'm rooting for Ro especially cos I Stood with her. Not that it makes any difference. Ooh, a nice brown!" On the sands, Halam says "Oh Its a brown not a green...Must'uve been a shadow from the shell." On the sands, S'dar says "Can't say I'd want to leave the shade of that egg either... it's hot out here. Come on out... there's food and shelter waiting for you, and the world isn't _all_ hot and sticky like these Sands." On the sands, Jehan tries to get a good view, "He seems to be hiding," he chuckles, "Look Jehran," he points his hand slowly in the direction. Rahth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he wings down to a quick landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. N'ren peers quietly over the Sands, identifying people - or trying to, at least. This, of course, means he almost misses Julanna's greeting. He glances up at his dragon, then towards Miraeth and Julanna, to whom he flashes a smile across the sea of people. On the sands, Eolan nods slowly, "I... I think so." He peers, "Yes, look! You can just see his tail." He grins, "Hiding. That's what he's doing." He nods in agreement with Jehan's words. Taelenna blinks a few times in rapid succession, craning her neck. "Come out," she mumbles softly to the hiding dragonet. Not that she'll be heard, but -- hey, it's the thought that counts. Right? On the sands, "Green?" says Jehran to Halam, taking his eyes off the hatchling for only an instant, "He had me fooled for blue." On the sands, Laurelin pulls at Josira's sleeve. "Look at that, he's shy." Kaylira shakes her head emphatically, but without looking away from the entrancing sight of the little brown below. "Can't, yet. I'm too young, and Khari's younger, and Kris is younger-er." Straightening, she informs Dalika with satisfaction, "He's *neat*. Browns are the very best, though greens are okay too." Rahth swoops in to a gentle landing near some of the other Istans. His rider turns to help her passenger dismount. From Rahth's back, Cenica releases Rahth's riding straps from around . Jenni blinks.... On the sands, Agile and lithe, a dusty green hatchling pushes her way out of the shell with a flirtatious flick of her tail. She looks about the sands, her whirling eyes lingering momentarily on this or that detail before her clumsy movements put her right in the path of a husky man with a shock of white-blond hair that hails from Nabol. "I will!" he exclaims as his arms reach toward his new lifemate. Taelenna nods with satisfaction as the brown dragonet finally emerges, crossing her arms. On the sands, S'din whoas and involuntarily takes a step back as this dragonet finally makes up his mind and strides forth with a vengence! From Rahth's back, Cenica quickly releases Rahth's straps from around herself. On the sands, Eolan tugs on Alyeria's hand, grinning wider, "See? I told you! He's brown!" On the sands, Denali gaps, "Oh, of all the most beautiful...Lovelyest green ever.." On the sands, Halam whispers to the others in the circle "Look hes out now... Leya grins at Kaylira, "I very much agree with you." Her eyes then return to the sands as the brown finally comes out from behind his egg. From Rahth's back, Cleosia shakes herself from her mesmerization and releases the straps from around her. Al'ric peers at the brown, then leans against Tiganath again. He just can't seem to look delighted at the hatching, instead enjoying the oneness with his lifemate. I'sai eyes the cloudy-sailed queen a long moment before squinting down at the sands and the newest, shadow-painted arrival; "Well, it's a good reason to root for her, Ro, that is. And who won the argument, anyway?" On the sands, Jehan finally gets a good look at the Brown, "No need to hide with a," he pauses, "Hide like that," He catches the green impression from the corner of his eye, "Well done," he calls to the man. On the sands, Halam says "And theres a green...." On the sands, Rhaine blinks at the brown, more intrigued with him that she was with the bronze, or that little green. "He's pretty..." S'more scarcely notices the green's impression as he admires the brown now freed from his shell. On the sands, Arana covers her mouth, giggling. "There he is! And oh.. he's handsome." she says the last in a whisper, watching him. V'han leans against Mallorith's foreleg as he watches, making occasional comments to Jesica. On the sands, Ro says admiringly "He's gorgeous." then movement catches her eye, and she flashes a smile at the new greenrider. On the sands, Celis gapes openly at the brown, and then steps aside as a guy near her impresses a green and wobbly heads off the sands "Oh, he's beautiful!" On the sands, The Mizzly Chiaroscuro Brown Dragonet looks around with shy, whirling eyes. On the sands, Alyeria's eyes widen even as her hand is tugged, "Aye you did say he was a brown! My he doesn't seem so shy now, maybe he just needed a moment to compose himself?" Feet shuffle as she stares at the brown hatchling. Riell leans back against Gezilth and chews her bottom lip nervously. On the sands, Saruh gets up on her tip-toes to see the little brown and green getting free of their prison. Finally she drops back on ehr heels, bouncing. "Ooh. A brown and a green, Ro! Did you see?" Jesica chuckles and grins as she winks at V'han, "I'm not sure which is better, being a wingrider, or a Wingleader." Cenica swings her leg over Rahth's neck and slides down to the ground. On the sands, Spiriel watches the brown and smiles. "I'm glad he chose to join us." V'han laughs. "Each has their good points and bad, I suppose." Cenica lifts a hand to help Cleosia down off Rahth's back. Terrilia manages a quick smile at S'more and Julanna as the brown emerges and the green Impresses, then returns her attention to the Sands. Cirameth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he flies down to land gently on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, The Mizzly Chiaroscuro Brown Dragonet comes out from behind the egg slowly, as if encouraged by the noise that seems to surround it. He looks around at him in wonder. It was so -quiet- in that egg. Why all the noise? Cleosia swings her leg over Rahth's neck and slides down to the ground. Kaylira, at a helpful elbow-nudge from V'dan, remembers to pull out a charcoal stick from her pocket and starts scrawling notes over the previously-neat hide. "Brown and green... green looked kind of like Lyss, too. Aunt Ro's going to get a brown, Uncle Is. Just wait and see." On the sands, Rhaine's brows furrow as she peers at the brown a bit more now. "Shy indeed. But pretty enough that he shouldn't have to worry about opinions," she leans over to whisper to Celis. On the sands, Denali turns back to the brown, grinning, "My, he's a shy one, look at him, he's so cute..." On the sands, Br'mar settles in a bit, his boots digging into the hot sands, and watches the rapidly moving action of the hatching now. The wait, it seems, was well worth it. On the sands, Ro nods, then says quietly to the shorter lass "Maybe you should stand a little closer, so you can see." Dyrik watches the hatchings and impressions, glancing at his friends around him once in a while, a grin on his face. He notices Rahth's arrival and waves to Cenica and Cleo. On the sands, Divya nods and says, "Poor little thing. The noise seems to be scaring him." Taelenna rests a hand on the foreleg of her blue lifemate, careful not to lean against him lest she stain her dress with the oil from his freshly shining hide. Chin still raised to ensure the best view, she watches the latest dragonet -- brown -- peruse the Candidates carefully. Cleosia sees Dyrik and smiles and waves back. S'more murmurs softly, "Makes me want to be standing down there again." A snort from the brown, and the lad adds, "Not *Impress*....just to see them up close." Trine waves with excitement to Cenica and Cleo. On the sands, Jehan looks over to the Brown, speaking in a hushed tone, "He looks so scared," his eyes soften slightly, warm smile on his face. On the sands, Celis giggles at Rhaine and whispers back "Aye, and I bet he will know how handsome he is soon." On the sands, The Mizzly Chiaroscuro Brown Dragonet takes one step forward, finally revealing himself to the world. Okay, that was all right. Another step. And another, and another and another and another and -- he bumps into something and falls backward. What are -these- things? On the sands, Josira nudges Br'mar in the ribs, none to lightly. "That brown is really pretty," she says softly, eyes on the little brown. "Almost as handsome as his sire, wouldn't you say?" From Cirameth's neckridges, Tella smiles to Ellwiny and says, "Thank you to both you and your dragon." She unstraps and hops off. From Cirameth's neckridges, Bessa acks as they fly down into the volcano. She hides her face before they plunge in. Once in she looks up. "I don't think I'm use to dragon acrobatics yet." She mubbles a bit. On the sands, "It was noisy enough to stun me when I first came out onto the Sands," comments Jehran sympathetically, "Who can blame him? He probably thinks Pern's a really crazy place right now." Tella climbs down from Cirameth's neck, using the blue's extended foreleg as a stepping stone between herself and the ground. On the sands, Cracking open into several pieces, the Sleepwalking Egg releases a struggling dragonet. Holding his head high, a blue hatchling moves awkwardly toward the cluster of Candidates. A creel pierces through the babble as the blue heads toward a young man from South Boll, whose stunned expression and cry of joy announces the Impression. S'more leans back to stare at his lifemate's whirling eyes. "I already have the perfect lifemate." On the sands, The Secretive Elopement Egg tilts to one side. On the sands, Rhaine chuckles quietly, and watches the hatchling's progress, wincing slightly as he falls. "Whoops. Well, he certainly is a baby." Terrilia laughs quietly. "I'll stay up here, thanks. But I remember..." She leans against Cyameth, smiling, then sits up again as she spots the blue. "A blue!" On the sands, Eolan chuckles, shaking his head, "Nah, he'll get used to it. Not like we can tell everyone to be quiet, right?" His grey-green eyes dance merrily, "I'd wager with encouragement he'll be braver than anyone would ever dream... Hey, a blue!" He points over to the Impression. On the sands, The Midnight Snack Egg tilts to one side. On the sands, Halam does the 'Hot Sands' dance as the heat starts to soak through his sandles as he spies a blue who seems to know exactly wh he wants From Cirameth's neckridges, Ellwiny unbuckles her straps and leans forward against Cirameth's neckridge, waiting for her passengers to disembark. On the sands, Denali covers a giggle with her hand, debating on whether she should help the brown thing. On the sands, Br'mar stutters a couple of times, then finally answers Josira, "Almost." He grins. On the sands, Arana keeps her hand clasped over her moth, still watching the brown, though her eyes wander to the other hatchlings too. "Cute. Too cute." On the sands, Saruh shakes her head and manages to step to the side to peer around an obstructing shell shard. "VSC, you know." Cleosia watches the scene in front of her, her face filled with wonder for what she's wirnessing as well as....something inscrutable... Al'ric glances at the Istan blue and his passengers, then turns back to the sands, arms folded, expression still cloudy. On the sands, Jehan's head turns quickly as the blue cracks shell, a hopeful expression on his face, it is replaced by a congratulatory grin to the man from Boll, "Maybe Boll will be lucky today," he ponders, mostly to himself. On the sands, Celis shuffles her feet and winces for the brown that fell over "Poor thing.." she says "I hope he's alright.." Cenica waves to Dyrik, and Trine, and, well, everyone else she knows. She leans on Rahth's leg and looks down at the Sands. On the sands, Divya shifts her weight a couple of times and used her free hand to pull up a bit of material from her robe to pat her damp face dry. On the sands, The Mizzly Chiaroscuro Brown Dragonet struggles to his feet, and looks around for whatever that thing was that he ran into. He looks up, and up and up and up...and right into the face of the most prettiest creature he has ever seen in his short life. Taralyth's wings swing up in a guarded stretch before refurling; I'sai relaxes with him, distracts back to Kaylira, "That one or a different one? Brown, I mean. And don't mind Leya's brown-bias; she has good reason to be, after all." To that brownrider, he nods fractionally Al'ric's way and then whispers to her, "...glum?" On the sands, Alyeria leans back as she watches the impression of the green and her new rider, "Faranth." She merely whispers before her attention swings back to the brown and the other eggs, "Aye I suppose he will, Eolan." From Cirameth's neckridges, Bessa works the straps loose and swings her leg over. "Thanks for the ride.. It was... interesting to say the least." She chuckles and slides down. Hoping not to crash and burn. S'more chuckles and nudges his clutchmates. "VSC..." He laughs a bit more. On the sands, The Mizzly Chiaroscuro Brown Dragonet stares deeply into Alyeria's eyes. On the sands, Ro murmurs "He just needs someone to take care of him, is all. And I can't see of any reason why anyone in their right mind wouldn't want to. He's perfect." A smile is flashed to the new bluerider as well. Ellwiny slides down Cirameth's shoulder and falls the last few feet to the ground, landing easily. Saskia leans slightly against Rinath who apears to be gazing intently down at the newest brown though a slight twitch of her long brown tail might indicate she's listening. A half smile plays on Saskia's face "Well, I was right. She does listen to me eventually." Rinath snorts softly and shifts slightly nudging her lifemate more in the direction of the sands. On the sands, Denali shakes her head, stormy eyes bouncing. She inches forward, "You okay, little guy?" She stops. Tella walks over towards Dyrick and waves to a few others from Ista. On the sands, Spiriel backs up instinctively, as the brown bumps into one of them. She smiles and retakes her place. She smiles at Alyeria, waiting to hear. On the sands, S'din grins as Impression is made! Terrilia grabs S'more's arm and points toward the sands, toward the brown. On the sands, Denali smiles, "Congrats, Aly." On the sands, Saruh sways back to the other side and watches as Alyeria meets the little brown. "Did she...?" Cleosia moves over to where those she knows from Ista seem to be congragating. On the sands, Laurelin smiles warmly and ohs as the brown chooses at last. S'more nods, "Aye, I saw.....what's his name?" On the sands, Jehran is in the midst of applauding the fellow from Boll when he turns and notices Alyeria and the little brown staring at one another. He hesitates, not wanting to interrupt the magic of the moment until she's announced the name. On the sands, Rhaine blinks, grining at Alyeria wildly. "Oh, look Celis!" She nudges the girl who's hand she's clentching just as fierce. "Aly!" cries Taelenna as the brown dragonet pauses in front of Alyeria below. She all but hops on her toes, hands coming together in a single clap of excitement. On the sands, S'dar's face gets a smile on it as Alyeria meets her lifemate. "A fine match," he says quietly to himself. "As always." On the sands, Divya smiles and pulls on Denali's hand to remind her to stay back. She gives Alyeria a thumbs-up with her other hand to congratulate her. Leya smiles at I'sai and pats the side of Tovith's leg which she is leaning against. "I certainly do." She then follows her gaze and whispers back. Ellwiny scans the crowd, murmuring a faint "Ista's duties," to those nearby, and immediately leaps up to her blue's foreleg-both for the view and the marginal distance from the press of bodies. On the sands, Arana still has her hand over her mouth, but this time to hide a squeel of delight. "Congrats!" she whispers towards Alyeria, knowing she prolly couldn't hear her now anyway. Bessa looks around the crowded gallery to find a seat. She looks for a place to sit. On the sands, Halam tries to hold still as he watche the brown seem to decide on Alyeria "Congrats" he waves to her. On the sands, Celis smiles happily at her fellow candidate as Aly impresses "Oh, Aly! Congrats!" she calls, squeezing Rhaine's hand tighter again On the sands, Jehan lefts out a long gasp, "Alyeria got the Brown, that shy little Brown," A wide smile coats his face, his feet still shuffling from the heat, he waits for a name. On the sands, Alyeria's eyes widen and for a moment seh just stands there stunned, looking at the brown dragon before she lets go of Eolan's hand to says, "Eviseth! His name is Eviseth!" She plops to her knees to reach out and touch the dragonette's hide, "Yes we are!" Dyrik belatedly chuckles to S'more as Zakath snorts at him for his comment. On the sands, Eolan releases Alyeria's hand and takes a step away from her, bouncing with excitment, "Aly! He chose you! What a great name! Eviseth! Congratulations!" On the sands, Ro nods "She did. Finally. No worries, though. There'll be plenty more hatching in no time." On the sands, Spiriel smiles as she heard the name. "Congratulations Alyeria." Kaylira reports with just a touch of regret, "Well, nay that one. He's found somebody else. Way to go, whatever your name is!" she yells encouragingly to the new Impressee. Dyrik looks up and smiles at Tella. On the sands, S'din smiles widely and steps forward, his touch light on Alyeria, "Congratulations Alyeria and Eviseth!" He gently herds her toward the passageway. On the sands, Jehan grins, "Eviseth, wonderful name, great match," S'more hms. "Eviseth....wonderful. I don't know her, though." He smiles, broadly. On the sands, Another egg shatters, revealing a soft green hatchling lying on her back. Struggling to adapt to using her limbs, the dragonet manages to right herself, only to bump sheepishly into a diminutive woman from the FarmCraft that is wringing her hands with nervousness. As tears fill the woman's eyes, she lovingly reassures the object of her Impression. Tella slides into a seat nearby and smiles, glacning down at the impression. Trine offers a wild congratulations to both of them. On the sands, Saruh grins and claps, bouncing in animated hops. "Aly! Aly and Eviseth! Congratulations!" she calls. Leya's grin widens as the brown finds his lifemate. "Congratulations..." she whispers even though she knows they can't hear her. On the sands, Denali looks over at Divya with a resigned sigh, "One of 'em with pick me, I'm sure." D'len claps his hands. V'han cheers the Impression. On the sands, Halam turns back to watch the othe eggs rocking as suddenly another green emerges from its shell and quickly impresses On the sands, Alyeria is quick to get to her feet again at S'din's prompting, "This way Evisth, it's this way." She stumbles toward the passageway, trying her best to go slow for the just born brown. Jenni smiles at the impression. Imago emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she swoops down and lands on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. Terrilia shakes her head. "I don't know her either. But wonderful anyway." She smiles softly. Riell smiles "Ohh lovely.." she murmurs as she nods to Gezilth. "Hot feet," is Julanna's whispered remark to Terrilia. "I remember *that* well." Over to S'more, "That was our chant. They drilled 'VSC' into us until I could hear people muttering it in their sleep in the barracks." Then, as Impression is made, "Eviseth -- what a lovely name. Who'd he choose? Alyeria?" She leans back against Miraeth, sighing happily. Saskia's smile softens as she looks down in time to see the brown Impress. "That was sweet." S'more chuckles and nods at Julanna. "That was my chant while I was *standing*." "Guess not," I'sai agrees with the girl after conferring with unrepentant Leya a little more; he then adds over his shoulder to Saskia, "So it took you, what, a couple Turns-plus to win? Now, will next time take longer, or less." On the sands, Eolan watches Alyeria leave the Sands, moving closer to Ro and Saruh, though he can't help but smile for his friend who Impressed. He looks out over the Sands and just catches the green Impress. Calling out to the girl his congratulations before turning to see which egg is cracking now. On the sands, The Eleventh Hour Egg rocks back and forth a few times. On the sands, Rhaine squints, watching the green, only to turn and face the other rocking eggs, looking a bit overwhelmed with everything. On the sands, The Dazzling Moonflower Egg shakes from side to side for a moment. Dyrik grins over his shoulder at D'len as he too claps for the Impression. On the sands, The Sleepwalking Egg gives a little hop. On the sands, The Last Star of the Morning Egg shudders once. D'len nudges Dyrik. On the sands, Denali ohs! "Look at all of that, Div, so many ready to break!" Bessa blinks at all the cheering and see's the impression and looks disapointed that she missed it. She finally spots Cleosia and moves through all the people to sit near her. On the sands, Emerald green eyes dart from side to side as Jehan tries to catch all of the impressions going on around him, A broad smile is sent to the newest green weyrling pair. On the sands, Celis smiles sappily after Aly and turns back to make sure she doesn't miss any dragonettes leaving their shells. Tella peers down at all of the rocking eggs with a soft smile. Looking to Dyrik, she states, "It won't be to long til we're in that situation." On the sands, Arana finally removes hand from over her mouth, and turns back to the eggs and hatchlings. "Lively bunch.." she comments. Terrilia glances from egg to egg, hoping to see the next one hatch. On the sands, The Fires Dancing Shadows Egg rocks back and forth a few times. On the sands, Laurelin wipes the corner of her eye, unashamedly moved by once again witnessing this melding of spirits. She looks about trying to guess which egg will hatch next. Cleosia sits, watching the eggs and trying to guess which candidate will Impress te dragonets inside. Tierth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she banks and lands neatly on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, Rhaine hones in on one of her favorite, no, name that two of her favorites as they begin to shake more violently. "Oh, lookie, that white one I liked so much is shaking." On the sands, The Sleepwalking Egg hops to one side. Dyrik says to D'len, "This really makes me hope my lifemate will be..." He breaks off, unable to complete his thought. On the sands, Ro points to the moonflower egg "Look, my favorite one is rocking..." Leya smiles, then her eyes are once more drawn back the hatching sands with the little dragonets the magnets. On the sands, S'dar squeezes Laurel's hand, his own eyes also scanning for the next egg to give way to a new dragonet's scratches and bumps. S'more catches a bit of conversation, "Will be what, Dyrik?" Bessa nudges Cleosia. "I can't believe I'm seeing this.. Look how they rock" She says in excitement! Al'ric practices his frown to one side, in Tiganath's shadow. On the sands, The Secretive Elopement Egg shudders slightly, and then falls over. On the sands, Divya looks at the Moonflower egg and says, Dyrik looks over at S'more and blushes. "Will be on the sands when Neith's clutch hatches." Tierth backwings to a graceful landing, her attention more on greeting various dragons on the ledges than the rocking eggs on the sands. On the sands, Pulling another stray curle of golden hair out of her eyes she watches Aly and Evisith leave. She turns back and looks where Ro is pointing. "Ooh! I hope that's your lifemate doing the rocking!" Maylia slides to the ground, giving Tierth a parting caress and a tender smile. On the sands, Divya looks at the Moonflower egg and says, "I hope that one hatches next!" On the sands, Denali smiles at Ro and then gives a resigned sigh, seeing that her own favorite egg hasn't moved a inch. On the sands, The Secretive Elopement Egg continues to shudder, the shaking increasing until it seems the shell is vibrating from the movement within it. Tella hears Dyrik to, but keeps her eyes on the sands. Cleosia jumps a little when Bessa nudges her, she was so intent on the eggs. She grins, I can't believe it either...I never thought I'd see a Hatching...." On the sands, Jehan ohs, pointing to Secretive Elopement egg, "Look, look," His whole face mirrors excitement and tension. Trine stares foondly at the Blood Red Egg. On the sands, Eolan grins at Ro and Saruh, "I'd wager both of you have dragonets out there just waiting to break shell." He pulls his robe down again in the back. On the sands, Suddenly a whispered crackling comes from the Secretive Elopement Egg as a series of fine lines spread rapidly across the hard surface of the shell from a central point, covering it within moments. Ellwiny leans back against Cirameth. Catching Dyrik's comment, she chuckles softly, but keeps her attention on the sands. On the sands, Ro says rather fatalistically "It'll be mine or someone else's. I just want to see the dragon that comes out of it." Saskia chuckles "Nah, Is. Thank Faranth for dragonic memory. She didn't remember enough about dragon eggs to argue about it until she was two. Now it just comes up if we visit dragon eggs or watch a dragon hatching. She forgets the facts, but she remembers that it's a good way to state a contrary opinion. It wouldn't do to always agree, now would it?" S'more nods to Dyrik. "Aye....I do to." On the sands, Spiriel is feeling the heat, and shifts her feet as she watches the impressions, and the shaking of the eggs. She turns to smile reassuringly at the rest of the candidates. Kaylira's tongue pokes out of the corner of her mouth as she scribbles, pausing now and then to watch the eggs rock. "Going t'be a... blue, next," she decides. Then: "Aunt May! Aunt May! You got here in time t'see lots!" On the sands, The Secretive Elopement Egg fairly falls apart from shaking, the bits of shell falling away from the small glistening blue body revealed inside it. On the sands, Denali oohs, "Wow. Which is your favorite, Divya?" Taralyth's quick enough to warble back to grassy Tierth, headknobs tilted forward; evn his tail curls out and back - till then he has to rumble apology to his neighbor for bumping. On the sands, Halam tries unsuccessfully to watch everything but his attention is caputred by an other blue stepping free of its confinement. On the sands,
Reaches Frost-Rimmed Blue DragonetDragons categorized as blues are the second most populous of the winged creatures on Pern, yet likely one would travel far and wide before glimpsing a dragon of this hue. Like topaz he is, from the undertone of his glistening hide, which is still coated with gleaming fluids of his shell, but outlining his limbs, the strong angles of his muzzle and jawline, his nostrils, his wings' fingerbones, and the ridge across his tail is an icy blue like the arctic frosts that are found only to the far north, above High Reaches, above most of the Continent. A hurried glance, a sideways look at this fellow in fact implies a hoary glow outlines him with every gesture and step, and the sapphire highlights beneath his eyeridges and upon his wingtips only make more dramatic the frigid outlines of his definitive bone structure; ice turned to jewel under the suns rays. One thing is certain: his cool coloration ought not affect his personality, and from the length of his torso and wingspan, from the dignified way in which he postures on the sands, he shall be a magnificent lifemate far warmer than the arctic lands he so resembles and the wintery weyr at which he was hatched.
On the sands, Josira points to a rocking egg and mutters to Br'mar, "No, -that- one will be the next bronze." Riell gasps as she sees the small blue body glistening there on the sands. On the sands, Celis giggles at the eggs motions "They're all so active!" she says to Rhaine, and lets her glance slide to her favourite, which hasn't moved yet. "I knew that one was going to be blue! I knew it! she half-exclaims as the Secretive Elopement egg spills open and looses a blue Cleosia ohs at the latest dragonette to hatch, "He's beautiful..." On the sands, Eolan says "Blue..." His eyes fall on the dazzling sapphire color of the dragonet and don't move, "What an amazing color. Like a stone from the Minecraft..."" Terrilia draws a quick breath, her hand unconsciously patting Cyameth. "A blue..." Maylia leaves her green's side, edging her way amongst the gathered folks on the ledges. A wide smile is directed to the youngster who calls her way, and she affectionately answers, "So Tierth tells me. Though we wouldn't make it in time!" On the sands, Br'mar hrms and shakes his head. "I don't know. Do you want to put mar..." Before he can finish that thought, a low rumble from Silventh distracts him from completing yet another losing bet. "I think you're right," he says. Trine gasps as she sees the newest icy hacthling. Dyrik blushes again as he smiles at S'more, putting his hand briefly on the young brownrider's shoulder. "Thanks. Until now, I've not really let myself hope..." He shakes himself. "And I shouldn't now." He resolutely turns back to watch the sands. Taelenna looks smug at the latest dragonet. "Blue," is her single-worded explanation. On the sands, Giving one final shake the Reaches Frost-Rimed Blue sheds the last of his egg shards in a vigorous shower. With a warm and boisterous bugle he moves forward to take his first look at the candidates. On the sands, Jehan almost jumps with excitement, or is it heat, "Look a blue," he grins, "And what a blue," he comments, He sends a smile to Celis and Rhaine, his feet shifting close by Jehran. Jenni waves hello to Maylia from where she's perched with T'mren near the edge with a great view of the hatching. On the sands, Ro ooos under her breath "Wow, look at the blue, he's positively dazzling." S'more grins at Terrilia. On the sands, Arana's hand goes to her mouth again as she sees the blue hatch from its egg. "Wow..." is all she manages at first, and finally. "Beautiful." On the sands, Spiriel smiles as the blue breaks his shell. "What a beautiful color. It takes your breath away." On the sands, Rhaine hrms, one brow raised as the blue pops onto the sands. "They are," she states, just watching each of the hatchlings, eggs, what ever is moving. Jesica blinks at the blue, "Fabulous." On the sands, S'din nods in satisfaction at a good, strong hatchling. He watches the Candidates ripples with nervousness, wondering which of them this hatchling shall grace with a lifetime of friendship. Bessa gasps at it hatches. "Oooo!" She grabs Cleosia's arm in excitment. "He's adorable!" On the sands, Saruh squeels once and dances a little in place. "A blue, Ro. With star saphire looks to him. He's beautiful!" On the sands, Breathing unsteadily, a boy from the Seacraft finds himself frozen motionless as he watches one of the three Dawn Sisters eggs explode into a shower of shards with wide-eyed fascination. The dark blue dragonet, with splotched wings, steps out of the shards eagerly and immediately creels at the young Sailor. "Oh! Ah!" the new blueriding weyrling exclaims at his Impression. Cleosia nods, not taking her eyes off him, "I know." I'sai has to glance down the row to assess his own, "...Well, maybe not -always-," he says. "But eventually. Persuasion! So, say, a few candlemarks every now and again might add up to even a day of disagreement - " after a quick grin Jehrina's way, acknowledging, he breaks off to invite Kaylira, "You called that one, all right... do the next?" On the sands, Jehran wipes his brow with the sleeve of his robe. When he brings his arm down, he finds himself looking in the direction of the newly hatched blue. "He looks like a jewel," he says, "Or like the blue you see in the heart of the winter ice." On the sands, S'din chuckles at the new pair and gently shows the new rider and dragon off the sands and out of harm's way. Al'ric steps forward at the OOOs and Ahhs and looks at the sands with a vague smile, his frosty demeanor thawing a few degrees. Kaylira bounces on Chymeth's leg. "I was right! I was right!" she crows. "And he's *pretty*. For a blue," she amends, lest she be disloyal to her beloved browns. "C'mere and help me keep track of Mum's bets, Aunt May?" Small brow furrowing in thought, she answers I'sai with, "'Twill be... um... another bronze, Uncle Is. I think." On the sands, Denali begins to twitch, "That blue is pretty, but Eolan seems to like him.." Cirameth stretches his neck forward, eyeing the hatchling a moment before giving a contented rumble. "As if he needed your approval," Ellwiny mutters, but looks up at her lifemate with deep affection. S'more grins. "Hey!! I know that lad! His skiff was that *same* shade of blue." He grins with excitement. On the sands, A moment later, Jehran laughs, and says to Jehan, "The first one of those silver eggs did hatch blue after all! You're one third of the way to winning your bet!" On the sands, Divya inhales slowly and says, "That is a gorgeous blue. And he's not intimidated by the noice here at all." Tella holds her chin in her hand as she quietly watches the impressions, cheering for each in turn. On the sands, Reaches Frost-Rimed Blue glides over the sands as if skating on ice. He peers closely at a red-haired boy from the Vintners and then moves on to give a very tall girl a questionable gaze. Still not satisfied the blue continues on, eyes whirling as he searches the sands for the lifemate he knows is here. On the sands, Jehan spots another Blue impressing at the other side of the sands, too excited and nervous to do any but grin, he smiles to Jehran, "Told ya, two more to go," Apparently the laugh seems to relax him but his shifting feet still move as fast. Kazeth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he swoops down to a landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, Denali grins, "I think that brown was an exception, the others didn't seem fazed at all." Trine claps her hands with suspense! Schmitt slides down from her lifemate, turning to skritch him as he croons at her. Maylia leans up against Chymeth, with an appologetic-asking glance towards the dragon. "You're learning from the best, kiddo," The e On the sands, Laurelin's eyes go this way and that, as eggs hatch in too many places to see at once. It all goes so fast. S'more glances up, "Speaking of blues!" He waves Kazeth and Schmitt over to the group of Igen clutchmates. On the sands, The Fires Dancing Shadows Egg jerks to one side a little. On the sands, Celis wrinkles her nose at the Dawn Sisters eggs "Oh, I thought they were all going to be bronze." she grins "But that's a beautiful blue! Congrats!" she calls after the young man who leads the young blue off. "Another bronze," I'sai repeats after Kaylira, to be sure; and then he whispers for Leya's ears alone, "Whose spawn is the girl, anyway? Looks familiar, know I've seen her, but... ah, the duck-woman just arrived." Maylia leans up against Chymeth, with an appologetic-asking glance towards the dragon. "You're learning from the best, kiddo," The Telgari Weyrlingmaster comments under her breath, before peering out at the sands. "So, who d'you think that blue's for?" Saskia smiles ruefully at Jehrina "Don't I know it? At least she also inherited a good sense of humour as well." She shakes her head "Persuasion would require subtlety and also the ability to resist teasing. Rinath's very direct. I dunno how the WLM..." She grins and waves "Ahh, hello Maylia." Terrilia just gazes at the little blue, leaning against her own blue dragon. "Yes, you were that small," she murmurs to her lifemate. Cleosia's curiosity wins her over and she transfers her attention to the wobbling egg. On the sands, Denali turns stern eyes on Sunset at Tillek Egg, "Move, darn it!" Jehrina chuckles. "Directness comes out of Tzornth, assuredly." On the sands, Rhaine chuckles, shaking her head. "No, I said one blue, one green and one brown. One down, two to go," she states, echoing another candidate. Hand momentarily leaving Celis's, she reaches down to pull up her socks within her boots. Riell chuckles softly and nods "Beautiful Gez..just beautiful." On the sands, Spiriel smiles at Denali. "It's a beautiful egg, isn't it? Reminds me of home." Schmitt hops off, quietly cursing. Mumbling something about ducks, in fact. She greets all around as she heads for her clutchmates, Kazeth peering over the edge and rumbling excitedly. Bessa wiggles in her seat a bit. "Oh too much is going on.. I feel like I'm going to miss something important." On the sands, Reaches Frost-Rimed Blue is drawn by some swiftly moving feet, he takes the action as a sign that candidate is ready to go places and see things! Moving to a pair of boys the buoyant blue spreads his wings and gives a hearty trumpet. Leya leans over to whisper back in I'sai's ears, "She's Kassima's daughter. She reminds me a lot of her mother at times." She then giggles at his last comment and sends a wave off in Maylia direction. On the sands, Jehan lets out a nervous laugh, "So the bets between you and me is it?" he doesn't have time to say any more before his attention is drawn back to the rocking eggs and hot sands. On the sands, Halam says "That blue was the color of a harpers medallion wasn't it Ro?"" Cleosia chuckles and shifs herself, barely able to keep sitting, "I keep thining that I am already!" On the sands, Denali grins over at Spiriel, "Yep, we came from the same place..And it does look like it.." Maylia turns a grin towards Saskia, as the young weyrwoman greets her, then sends waves to the rest who've noticed her appearance. T'quinn leans further forward on the ledges, completely drawn in by the activities below. On the sands, Eolan shifts uncomfortably, looking this way and that as the Hatchlings seem to swarm over the Sands, breaking shell here, toppling over there. His eyes dart all over the place. Kaylira's lips purse as she stares down at the Sands. "I don't really know, Aunt May," she admits, sounding apologetic. "I don't know many of the people Standing. Aunt Ro's going to get a brown, but I'm nay 'tall sure about blues." On the sands, Out of the other two Dawn Sisters eggs come a lightly-shaded green and a deep sea blue, hatching almost exactly together. The pair head in opposite directions to opposite ends of the candidates seemingly looking to work in tandem. After several moments of careful deliberation, the green and blue Impress at the exact same time - to a sister and brother from Crom. On the sands, Ro blinks "Harper's medallion? Hmm, I'm not quite sure." "Thanks. -That- explains a little," I'sai murmurs dryly, straightening up as their Weyrlingmaster approaches in -that- notorious dress. "Well, there's humor and there's, ah, humor. What's Tzornth like other than the direct part?" On the sands, Divya grins as she hears Halam. She leans over a bit and insists on sticking her two marks in. "No, he's too light. Harper blue is a more solid shade." On the sands, Jehan listens to the blues loud trumpet, chuckling to himself, "Determined little blue, isn't he?" Dyrik draws in his breath at the green. "Oh, she's a beauty," he whispers. On the sands, S'din nearly runs about the sands, dewfinitely working up a sweat and earning his pay, so to speak, by trying to move large numbers of new Weyrlings off the sands quickly. There are several close calls, but no one is hurt by the time the tide slows once again and he has time to scan the sands with his gaze, watching for the next impression. On the sands, The Etched In Darkness Egg tilts to one side. On the sands, The Sunrise in the Desert shudders once. On the sands, Ro points "A green and a blue from the dawn sisters eggs. At least I was 2/3rds right..." On the sands, The Reaches Frost-Rimed Blue Dragonet stares deeply into Jehan's eyes. On the sands, Spiriel smiles. "That's beautiful, to impress with your sibling." On the sands, Celis grins as the blue and green spill out of the other Dawn Sisters eggs "Well, Rhaine, you weren't /completely/ right.." she grins at the girl and her eyes dart back and forth amoung the dragons, stopping on Jehan "Oh Jehan!" she cries "Congratulations!" On the sands, Saruh is almost beside herself as the green and blue impress at the same time. "Oh, my.. no trouble finding their lifemates at all!" Trine cries down to the boy, "Congratulations!" S'more points. "Jehan got that blue!! Now if we can only get Jehran Impressed, too!" On the sands, Divya grins as the blue meets Jehan's eyes, and murmurs, "Congratulations!" to him. On the sands, Denali lets out a whoop to Jehan, "Good job, congrats!!" On the sands, Jehan gasps loudly, "Jyrinth, you want me," his eyes widen in shock, tears rolling down his face as he kneels on the sands. On the sands, Eolan grins as the blue chooses a familiar face, "Jehan! Congratulations!" Jehrina grins, though faintly. "That'd be nice, yes." Kaylira sighs a bit at the two newest Hatchings, a mingling of disappointment and wistfulness. "I wasn't right again, but they're still pretty dragons. And Mum's betting on lots of greens... look! The blue chose!" She points down, and yells, "Congratulations, you!" On the sands, Ro grins at Jehan, murmuring "How did I /know/ he'd impress." On the sands, Halam looks over as Jehan meets his lifemate and gives him a thumbs up "Way to go Jehan" Dyrik watches the blue Impression, then turns his head to S'more. "Friend of yours?" On the sands, Arana shifts her feet, frowning down at them for a moment, and misses the next few Impressions. As she hears calls of congrats though, she looks up, and blinks. "Jehan! Congrats!" On the sands, S'din grins and steps forward quickly to the new rider's side, "Congratulations, J'han and Jyrinth! Welcome to our ranks!" He guides J'han's steps toward the passageway. On the sands, "Well, you were close!" says Jehran cheerfully as he watches the pair from Crom impress. But as he turns to see Jehan's reaction to his words, he realizes his fellow candidate can't possibly have heard a thing. He smiles, and steps away from Jehan, calling his congratulations as he does so. Terrilia blinks rapidly, but a tear still runs down her cheek. She says nothing, just beams at the blue and his lifemate. Riell gets a little misty eyed as she leans more fully into Gezilth.."Yes love.." she whispers. Leya claps loudly, "Wooo! Another WoodCraft dragonrider!" On the sands, Spiriel smiles at J'han. "Congratulations." Bessa gasps softly. "Wow." She mutters. "It's alomost like you could see the spark.. So to speak." "A brown for Ro, mmm?" Maylia asks of her mentor's daughter, tilting her head in consideration. "I'd've thought a blue, but then I never waste my marks betting on this sort of thing. Always loose." On the sands, Saruh stops and looks around to Jehan. Her smile beaming. "Wonderful Jehan! Jyrinth! A good name." On the sands, J'han smiles, nervously before following S'din. On the sands, Rhaine beams, and winks at Jehan. "Oh, congratulations!" On the sands, S'dar smiles at the latest pair of lifemates. "He's a fine one, lad... he'll definitely serve the Weyr well." Then, as if thinking that perhaps his comment was too Weyrleader-like, adds, "and he looks like a fun one, too!" Schmitt blinks, "Hey, that's that kid that was going to get short-sheeted," she says as she settles down to watch the action, pile of gloves and riding things accumulating nearby her. On the sands, The A Still Winter Snow Egg rocks, one-two-three times in rapid succession. Al'ric manages a smile, though it doesn't last long. He's just not going to be chipper tonight. I'sai breaks off for, "Jehan? He's the fellow we met at ... exactly, what with the watchrider thing." Cleosia nods but says nothing this time On the sands, The A Still Winter Snow Egg rolls over, bumping the egg next to it. A solid hammering can clearly be heard from the inside of the sand-hardened shell. Saskia smiles "Nice dress, Maylia. Lovely shade of red." She continues "And perhaps from her dam too. And the willfulness. Ahh, that was Jehan right? Beautiful blue. I'm really rooting for Ro. We were candidates together." On the sands, The Dawn Sisters Eggs shudders once. On the sands, The Last Star of the Morning Egg twitches slightly. On the sands, The Fires Dancing Shadows Egg twitches slightly. Leilanth snorts softly. On the sands, A loud -crack- like splintering rock, and the narrow end of the A Still Winter Snow Egg opens to reveal a clawed foot, pushing at the shell to release it. S'more nods. "And I helped him catch a fish, too." On the sands, With a mighty effort, a brown dragonet forces his way through the A Still Winter Snow Egg and finally stands clear of the shell that protected his growing body. Cleosia gazes intently at the now cracked egg, wondering what color it will be.... On the sands, Noontide Reverie Brown DragonetA phantasm of warm sun and unshaded whimsy. A vision of full-tummy'd drowsy perfection and halcyon days perched upon the sands in shades of gold kissed brown. Amber rays of sunlight streak down over his proudly held head and flow along the saturnine curve of his neck to melt into the liquid warmth of his strongly built back. The contemplative tilt of his head couples with the musing curve of his mouth and the hypnotic whirling of his eyes to give him the appearance of one almost totally lost to a daydream. Wings glisten damply and are held close to chestnut flanks giving you only a hint at the lambent flame of color that glows over pinions and sails. As yet unwhetted talons of pure onyx grip into the hatching sands and provide some stability for the undeveloped muscles of gilded brown fore and hind legs. The clever shape of his tail floating behind russet hindquarters with a balanced sort of feline grace gives him the appearance of playfully stalking the one true candidate for his heart.
On the sands, Denali's quick eyes flash to the Winter Snow Egg, then the Dawn Sisters, And Last Star, Fires, then whip back to Winter Snow. "Oh! Oh! Look another brown! He's beautiful!" She cries out, Cleosia ohs, "A brown, Bessa! A beautiful brown!" On the sands, Arana turns away from the leaving pair to eye the next shuttering eggs.. and then the brown dragonet. "Oh! Now /that/ is handsome!" On the sands, Celis gasps at the newest brown "Oh Rhainey look! He's beautiful!" Tella smiles softly down to the sands at the newest brown quite happily. On the sands, Rhaine shakes one foot, then the other, brushing loose sand off of the rim. Gritty feet are unpleasant feet. Her mouth curves into an ansty smile as she spies another new hatchling. "He is nice." Bessa nods. "I see. Oh! So handsome!" Kaylira confides earnestly to Maylia, "Aunt Ro should get a brown, because she made me my brown dragon quilt." Ah, the wonders of child logic. "'Twould be *fitting*. And maybe Jehran will get a brown too. Mum's got lots of marks on him." She starts to consult the hide, but at the crack of egg, looks up, and attention is once more caught. "Another brown! A spiffy one!" On the sands, The Noontide Reverie Brown Hatchling slowly rises from his shell, languidly, carefully, stretching out his whole little body that was cramped for so long in that confined space. He opens his jaws and curls out his tongue in yawn fit for the big dragon he will someday be. On Mauroth, X'dren has partially disconnected. On the sands, Ro's sharp intake of breath is audible "Oh look, another brown. And he's every bit as handsome as the first." On the sands, From the back of the clutch comes a loud crack. A moment later, a small green is barreling her way through the eggs. Her small legs are working fast and her croon is a distressing sound. Moving with quick speed, she's doing alright until she is tripped by her own wings and topples a few feet before a young Tillek girl. With a squeal of triumph, the green finds her lifemate. S'more just smiles, feeling no need to reiterate that brown is best. On the sands, S'din turns his gaze from the newly-hatched brown and smiles over at Josira, mouthing to her, "Beautiful!" On the sands, Halam watches as the winter snow egg reveals a shinny brown dragonette. "Look Ro another browm" Tella chuckes at the brown, shaking her head. Here eyes move to the newest impression and back to the brown. Trine cheers wildly for the Tillek girl. Maylia gives the velvety skirts of her dress a twitch, before wrinkling her nose to Saskia. "Figured I should dress up for such an occasion. Besides, for all of ours, I really can't." As another egg on the sands cracks, she gestures down there, trying to draw Kaylira's attention. "Ooh, look, it's a brown. But, you know, it's the dragons' choice - those little ones out there don't know about your quilt, after all." On the sands, Denali ahs, "He'll make some rider extremely happy" She lets a quiet whistle escape her lips, one that is easily lost in the din. On the sands, Eolan pushes his hair back by running a hand through the dark curls that cap his head. Damp with sweat, they stay somewhat slicked back with ends sticking up comically. He grins at the brown, "Great coloring on that one!" On the sands, Josira inclines her head slightly to S'din. "Thank you, WeyrlingMater. But I fear you are about to have your hands full." On the sands, Saruh does her best to see, finally hopping up and down. At last the shards fall away. "Oooh. A lovely brown... like klah with milk stirred in." On the sands, Br'mar grins at S'din and nods. "Yes, she is, thanks for noticing," he says to the Weyrlingmaster. Ellwiny smiles admiringly at the brown, in the meantime slowly lowering herself to a crouch, then to a seated position on Cirameth's foreleg. She leans forward, green-eyed gaze intent on the sands. Terrilia wipes away the single tear, still blinking, still beaming, and leans toward Julanna. "And you said /you/ were getting nostalgic..." I'sai mutters something about -willfulness-, even as Taralyth daintily steps behind the other dragons along the row to get closer to his lifemate, even if he does have to look over Tovith's shoulder to get an eye on the sands; letting the scarf slip, I'sai teases the weyrlingmaster, "But blood wouldn't clash -so- much, it's just the ...whatever you call the wet-egg-part that's slimy." On the sands, The Noontide Reverie Brown Hatchling closes his jaws and with a gracefulness that belies his new-born status, he steps free of his shell, shaking a hind foot to free it from the last vestiges of the sticky shards that he is leaving behind. His movements are a little lazy, as if he were a giant feline that just awoke from a very deep sleep. On the sands, Divya chuckles as the baby dragon gives a full-sized yawn. Evidently, Hatching is hard work. Cenica sighs softly as the brown hatches. On the sands, Rhaine grins at the yawn, trying to hide one of her own. Those are as catchy as hiccups after all. "My feet are burning," she whispers to Celis quietly. Kaylira admits with some reluctance, "Weeeeeell, that's true, Aunt May. But if she's that good at stitching browns, maybe it means she's meant for brown, d'you see?" Overhearing I'sai, she twists to intone the scientific name for such to him: "Goo, Uncle Is." On the sands, Ro twists her fingers into the folds of the robe, watching every movement of the hatching dragons with an unwavering gaze. The brown's antics cause a soft giggle to escape her lips. On the sands, S'din chuckles and winks at Br'mar, "I was talking about you, studly," he jokes before turning back to the Candidates and steps forward to escort the new gfreenrider off the sands as he also watches carefully to see to whom the new brown will impress. Maylia's shoulders bob, as she agrees with Kaylira. "Goo." On the sands, Denali grins, "What a lethargic beaut..But he still maintains feline-like grace. Wouldn't expect that of a hatchling.." Taelenna clasps her hands behind her back, admiring the lovely brown below. On the sands, Celis nods to Rhaine, most of her attention on the new brown "Aye, maybe you should have worn the sandals? Your boots are going to be filled with sweat." she giggles lightly "Goo," I'sai obligingly repeats. "Thank you, ah, both," and rubs a dark dragon-chin that's out-of-the-blue dropped down over his shoulder for attention. On the sands, Jehran says dryly, "I wish I was as relaxed as that brown over there looks." On the sands, Halamcontinues to hop from foot to foot as he tries to keep an eye on both the newly hatched brown and the other eggs and dragonetts. Julanna gazes down at the sands, "Was that Jehan Impressing before? I remember Jehr saying they'd become like twins, becayse of the whole name thing -- " pausing, she reaches over to hug Terrilia. "Yeah, but it's a good kind of nostalgic." Rinath snorts too and nudges her rider again though Saskia merely gives her lifemate's hide an affectionate pat "Yes, I suppose not. I hadn't really thought about that. Guess it is hard work being down there." then wrinkles her nose "That's gross, I'sai. I think it's more the heat anyway." then adds a bit wistfully" Not that I've been down there since Rinath hatched." On the sands, Spiriel smiles at the brown. "He'll be a big one, I think." She smiles at all her friends on the sands with her in a silent wish of good luck. Tovith just turns his head slightly to look at Taralyth, then looks back at the sands. Doesn't both him any as long as he doesn't obstruct his view. S'more nods to Julanna. "Jehan, aye. Then...the Tillek lad after? Maybe a green between." On the sands, Eolan shifts again with discomfort, whether from the heat or the short robe, it's hard to decide. He peers around another Candidate to try and see what's happening with the Hatchlings a little better. On the sands, The Noontide Reverie Brown Hatchling finally notices that there is a lot of commotion around him. Perhaps that is what awoke him from his long slumber? Interested, but trying not to look as if he is interested, he moves closer to a quite curious looking group of girls, and then, with more than just plain curiosity. There's something he wants, right here. On the sands, The Etched In Darkness Egg shakes from side to side for a moment. Hanneth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she backwings to a neat landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, By Yventh, one of the smaller eggs hatches a lovely blue. He manages to wiggle his way out, nose first, into the sand. Unhappily he bugles to his dam, who rumbles reassuringly to her son. As he rights himself and gives a good shake, he looks first at Dam and Sire, then at the folks about him. His first step forward is towards Br'mar, but Silventh quickly steers him in the right direction - to find an almost look-alike to the bronzerider in a young Nabolese. Terrilia smiles and nods to Julanna. "Yeah, it is. I hope Jehran Impresses, too-I remember him from our Candidacy." Miran gives her lifemate a loving pat before swinging a leg easily over Hanneth's slender dark neck and jumping lightly to the ground. On the sands, Rhaine thhpts quietly at Celis. "Mute point now. And yes, I'm going to have to wash my feet off severely. My toes are squishing." She blinks, looking over to where the brown has wandered. Jehrina eyes Rinath briefly, "It'll come soon, I'm sure." Her attention quickly drops back to the sand. Miran leaps off Hanneth's neck with a thud, looking disheveled and at loose ends. On the sands, Celis takes a little step back, not wanting to be in the way of those Very Sharp Claws of the brown nearby. "Don't worry, we'll go take a bath later.." she promises with a grin to her friend. On the sands, The Noontide Reverie Brown Hatchling is drawn to -this- one, this one who giggles. Doesn't she realize that he is looking for her? He steps up to her decidedly and butts into her with his forehead, gently. On the sands, Br'mar simply shakes his head at S'din, but his attention is then drawn to the blue that has just hatched.. and its impressee. "I can't believe I never noticed -him- before," he remarks to Josira as the blue finds his lifemate. On the sands, The Noontide Reverie Brown Dragonet stares deeply into Ro's eyes. Taralyth crouches agreeably. Good Tovith. Lots of view for them both. His rider just laughs, "Sweat, is what you're saying? Tell me you don't miss burning your feet; Telgar's not -that- cold." Dyrik nudges S'more. "The brown Impressed!" On the sands, Saruh uses a toe of one booted foot to trace an arc in the sand in front of her, the sweat from the hot sands making her robe cling. She looks up to the moving brown and watches it select Ro! N'ren snorts, "Well, there's a name that won't need shortening." S'more nods eagerly. "Aye, he did. He seemed to know who he wanted." On the sands, Divya shifts her weight and lifts each foot off the sands for a few seconds, to ease the burning in her soles. She sees Ro's impression, and happily says, "Congratulations!" Bessa shakes Cleosia's arm a bit in excitment but doesn't say anything. D'len smirks over at N'ren, "Indeed." On the sands, Denali grins, "Congrats, Ro! He's perfect for you!" On the sands, The Meteor Shower Egg shudders once. On the sands, Celis grins at Ro "Congratulations!" she calls, happy for her fellow candidate On the sands, Rhaine watches Ro with a curious smile. "Congrats!" she calls, echoing the cheer errupting from around the sands. On the sands, Halam glances back to fire shadows egg quickly before returning his eyes to watch Ro's wish come true. "Yeah Ro." Halam waves On the sands, The thirteenth egg to hatch spills forth a mottled dragonet. At first the mess obscures the new hatchling's colors. Then he gives a shake to reveal a dark indigo-blue hide. Turning, he looks about for his match and finds a Candidate standing towards the back. As he approaches, a girl takes a step forward, bold and proud. But at the last second, the little blue turns to the boy next to her and the Impression is made. Rinath croons softly as a wide smile spreads across Saskia's face "Ro! She Impressed! Wonderful! And a brown too! Guess the dragon was listening, Kaylira." On the sands, Arana gives a little clap of her hands. "Yes, Ro!" she says softly, happily. Jehrina wrinkles her nose a bit, "It's actually short for Rosarrah, if I remember correctly." On the sands, The The Settling of Eventide Egg shudders, then sways a little back and forth. Kvasith emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he banks and lands neatly on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. Miran leans against Hanneth's neck looking a bit distracted despite the events transpiring below. Hanneth's voice is a subdued churr. Aurian slides off Kvasith after unfastening her riding straps. She lands neatly on her feet this time. Cleosia smiles, blinking hard as she sees Impression made between the brown and his chosen. "Congratulations," she says softly, knowing that not even the people next to her will hear it, but needing to say it despite that. On the sands, Spiriel smiles as impression is made. "Congratulations Ro!" On the sands, Ro pales, and nearly shakes. Her voice wavers a little as she says almost breathlessly "Alwyth?" Then in a louder, richer tone, melting with joy "His name is Alwyth!" On the sands, The The Settling of Eventide Egg continues gently rocking, almost touching its mates on either side in its movements. Tebrelth rumbles a greeting to Kvasith as the brown lands. On the sands, Jehran laughs and cheers Ro's Impression unabashedly. "Congratulations!" he calls. Kazeth rumbles happily, his head swinging eagerly back and forth to watch. Riell purses her lips and leans forward to find the name.."Alwyth.." she murmurs and nods.."Nice name." On the sands, Eolan gives a whoop for his friend, "Yes! Ro, that's great!" He waits for the name and then cheers again, "Alwyth! Congratulations, Ro!" N'ren nods, "Well, it still won't need shortening, 'rina." He squints at the new entry, and waves. "Heya, kiddo!" On the sands, S'dar smiles at Ro, looking very pleased. " "Excellent! He's a sturdy one... I'm looking forward to seeing him grow into a fighting dragon." He grins as the name is spoken. Leya laughs as Ro impresses the brown. She turns to Kaylira, "Hey, you're good at this. I think you're mom made a choice sending you. Maybe betting skills are inherited." On the sands, S'din smiles as he approaches the newest addition to High Reaches' dragonriders and says, "Congratulations to both you and Alwyth." He stands over them, watching this unique moment in the life of a dragonrider a second, perhaps remembering this time with his won dragon before touching her arm and smiling, gesturing for her to follow him to the passageway. On the sands, A harsh crack sounds, and a dark, almost vertical line appears on the The Settling of Eventide Egg running rapidly up and down the height of the egg. On the sands, Saruh's face lights up as she hops once again. "Ro! You're a rider!" Her breath comes faster. "Alwyth... what a wonderful name!" Jehrina grins at N'ren, "True." "Whaddya know," Maylia exhales, peering down at the sands. "Kaylira, I'd swear... that brown and Ro!" A wide eyed green gaze goes up to the youngster. "Girl, you've got your mothers' touch." I'sai leans out, "Ro? Rah! ...Skills inherited? Did she give you any marks to go with them?" On the sands, Denali shrugs, "I hope for green anyway...I wonder what color my favorite has in it.." She muses to herself.. On the sands, The long cracks on the The Settling of Eventide Egg finally circumnavigate its shell, and the two halves fall away to reveal a glistening green dragonet, already spreading her wings open to dry them. On the sands, First Margarita of the Morning Green DragonetBright, nearly fluorescent green is dominant in her hide, with a prominent sheen remaining from the egg, like condensation on the outside of a glass. Although just beginning her life, this dragonet looks decidedly tired, as if she's already been the life of the party for the majority of her existence. Her wings are dappled, giving the suggestion of a slushy texture, with several different shades of light green distributed haphazardly -- drunkenly, nearly -- on the sails. Her belly is a pure field of the more prevalent fluorescence, with no textured appearance, as if the slush that makes her wings so fascinating has melted towards her underside. The young green dragonet staggers slightly as she leaves her shell, but holds her head up nonetheless -- it's been a long night, for certain, but she's determined to continue the fun.
On the sands, Divya chuckles and says, "Well, there you go Denali! There's your green!" Cleosia's eyes suddenly become glued to the little green and she finds no words for her to say. Telgar Weyr> I'sai -laughs-, spotting that one. Fun... Kaylira shrieks with glee, as she sees the brown near Ro, "*Yeeee*-hah! Lookit, Aunt May, Aunt Ro got a *brown*! Aunt Ro got a *brown*!" She bounces in her jubilation until it seems almost as though she's apt to fall off Chymeth's leg. "See, see, the brown knew! Wonderful!" She grins broadly at both Saskia and Leya. "Oh, thankee, Aunt Leya, Aunt May. Mum's going t'be *thrilled*; I told her to bet lots, so she did. Uncle V'dan's got all the marks, but maybe Mum will let me have some." Telgar Weyr> T'saren giggles and nods. I like her! Rahth rumbles delightedly and Cenica laughs at him, "Yes, she is pretty." On the sands, Halam peers as another green burts fourth. "What a beauty." Dyrik whistles as he looks at the newly-hatched green. "Wow...she just lights up a room!" Tierth lifts her chin, reaching her long neck towards the newly arrived Telgari brown. A croon of greeting goes towards Kvasith, before she returns her attention to the sands far below. Telgar Weyr> Ryialla says, "Verrrrry nice." Jesica ahhhs as she sees the green hatch, "Now she's a right beauty." Al'ric is determined to look glum tonight, but Kaylira's not helping. Her enthusiasm just wins a wry smile from him. Tella lifts her lips in a half grin as she watches the small green. S'more whistles at the green. "Anyone else suddenly thirsty?" On the sands, Laurelin says "Oh! That one is really fun-looking! Don't you think?" Riell nods "Yes.." and smiles "Very.." Gezilth warbles and nudges Riell a bit forcefully. On the sands, Denali burst into a fit of giggles, "Wouldn't you know?" The heat doesn't bother her as she rivits her eyes to the dazzling green, "She's simply eligant, beautiful..Oh, my, she's gorgeous." Kvasith inches towards Tierth. He warbles affectionately as he gazes towards the sands. On the sands, Spiriel smiles. "She looks like she's tired. She'll be able to rest soon enough." On the sands, Arana watches happily after Ro and the brown, and spots the green hatching. "Oh... pretty!" she exclaims. On the sands, Rhaine just peers at the new little green. "Fun?" she asks, just shaking her head. "Interesting." That could be a smile making it's way onto her lips. On the sands, Saruh sighs, her friend leaving, but she soon has another. "Look, Eolan. A tipsy green!" she points. On the sands, Celis grins at the newest green "Oh, look.. It looks like it's dyed in the drinks that T'ris mixes!" Maylia lends a steadying hand as Kaylira's bouncing looks a little precarious, but she's grinning. "And you'd deserve a share of her marks. Yet another one I've got to remember to never wager against!" Quinaeth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he wings down to a quick landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, With something that sounds quite similar to a hiccup, the Morning Green Dragonet stumbles haphazardly out of her shards. Her glistening wings extend to catch her balance and manages to look at least relatively graceful. Alane slides down to the ground from Quinaeth's back. Taralyth sniffs downward, finicky as ever: pretty? Gooey, but her head's high, and that's the main thing; he lifts his own to warble agreeably to Kvasith, from the relatively cramped quarters behind TOvith. N'ren stands up, mostly to scoop the Telgarian redhead off her feet into a hug. Then he sets her down and reaches up to muss her hair. "Wingleader, eh?" T'mren grips the straps on Cevodnioth's hide, and climbs onto the dragon's back, perching there with confidence. Cevodnioth rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. On the sands, Halam tries to get Saruh's attention "Niath's?" On the sands, "Oh dear," says Josira, under her breath. "I do hope she's careful." On the sands, Denali oohs and aahs, "Oh, she's so wonderful, isn't she, Divya?" A long sigh escapes her lips. On the sands, Eolan chuckles and nods to Saruh, "She looks that way, doesn't she?" On the sands, The tallest Candidate on the sands shifts restlessly, watching the Impressions around him with a longing expression on his face. His inattentiveness causes some distress to the bronze dragonet that appears next to him. The hatchling moves his unusually thick forearms and creels petulantly at the man. "I'm sorry!" the Woodsmith says, dropping to his knees while the dragonet gazes deeply into his eyes for Impression. Alane waves as she takes her place on the ledges. On the sands, Rhaine grins at Celis. "He never did make me any of those. I'll have to ask them about those drinks later." Kaylira sighs with delight, that grin not really leaving her face as she scrawls Ro's Impression in big letters on the hide and tears her attention reluctantly away to the green. "She makes me think of a fruit ice, kind of," she decides, with an irrepressible smile to May as the rider steadies her. On the sands, Denali mumbles a congratulations to the new Bronzerider, but she seems facinated with the green. Miran's foot taps, first slowly, then faster and faster. She folds her arms and puts on a sour look. On the sands, One spin to the left brings her face-to-face with a startled young man, a spin to the right bring the Morning Green face to face with her sire. The whirling eyes lift up and up and up before she creels apologetically. Getting on with her business, she takes a few steps toward the cluster of white. Aurian hugs the Igen brownrider tightly, grinning as she gets scooped up, "Yeah... guess about a turn now..... leading Dawnslight." Even the mussed hair is tolerated with a smile, "How are you and Kheveth doing. Still frying in the desert sands and all that?" On the sands, Jehran leans forward to say to Rhaine and Celis, "Enough about the drinks! You're making me thirsty!" He grins, to show he's not serious. On the sands, Halam also waves to the new bronzerider and then turns his attentions back to the hoping rocking eggs. On the sands, Celis giggles at Jehran and watches carefully where the green goes. On the sands, Saruh notices the first bronze matching and waves to the tall one before turning back to the other eggs. On the sands, Arana giggles softly. "She looks really confused.." On the sands, Rhaine snorts towards Jehran and smirks. "Cool, soothing drinks..." She can be so evil at times. On the sands, Her breath catches in Denali's throat as the green moves towards them. She bits her lip, fidgeting. I'sai asks while he's at it, "What flavor of fruit ice, 'lira? And do you like 'em? Haven't had one in ... Faranth, must've been a few Turns by now." On the sands, Halam grins at WhindyRhaineSthorm "Nasty girl...Thats sounds good about now." S'more calls back to I'sai. "Lime. You could drink 'em instead of eating them on a ship's voyage....'course you'd have to get the ice from somewhere." On the sands, Rhaine sticks her tongue out at Halamarama. "Yes it does, and we'll get one afterwards." On the sands, Divya can hear nothing except for the VSC roaring in her mind. She loosens but doesn't release her grip on Denali's hand, and balances on the balls of her feet. Now she's ready to dodge as needed. Terrilia glances up from the sands and toward Julanna with a quick smile, seeing how the greenrider's doing. N'ren replies, soberly, "Actually, I'm standing in the somewhat nippy High Reaches hatching grounds at the moment, Aurian." He chuckles, "Well. Wingleading. Now you're learning all about the other side of why dancing is important as a weyrling." Alane watches the sands intently. "Those are my candidates down there, you know. /I/ was one of the coordinators. Heya, S'more. I'sai. Reaches duties to you." On the sands, Eolan gazes off to the left, then his eyes fall on the green again. He watches her movements carefully, following her trail across the sands with his gaze. On the sands, Laurelin smiles, and looks over at S'dar, and her smile increases at the look on his face, watching the spectacle before them. On the sands, With her wedge-shaped head lifted high to maintain a regal air, the delightful Green doesn't realize that her walk is a bit ... well, less than arrow straight. The draconic expression takes on a look of determination as she resolutely corrects her course. It seems that she has found who she is looking for, if only she can get there non-dizzily. Maylia drapes her arm behind Kaylira, lounging against Chymeth. "So, who else? Recognize anyone else down there?" She asks the pre-adolescent. Her own dragon sidesteps towards Kvasith, chuffling with demure grace. S'more turns and grins at Alane. "Igen's duties to you, Alane! And congrates....the child of yours I saw was lovely." Leya smiles at I'sai, then her expression turns bittersweet. "I think the last time I had one was after the Igen hatching I didn't impress at." She smiles, "Of course now I'm glad I didn't. I have Tovith." She leans back and snugles back against Tovith foreleg. Miran's gaze swings over to Alane, after hearing her comment. "Alane," she says. "Where is my daughter then?" Riell laughs "Yes Darling your beautiful.." she says softly and then looks "I wonder who.." N'ren adds, "Of course, dancing with thirty or more others makes it a lot more complicated." Cleosia leans foward, anxious to see who the green goes to. On the sands, Arana prepares to dedge out of the way of the drunken green, though she is grinning widely. "Just too cute.." On the sands, The First Margarita of the Morning Green Dragonet stares deeply into Arana's eyes. On the sands, Jehran puts off replying to Rhaine for the moment, and instead says, "We'd better give the little one there a bit more space. She looks a bit unsteady." On the sands, Glancing nervously at the girl next to her, the sharp-faced Bitran woman swallows hard and watches the next egg fall apart. A green dragonet looks exhausted from all the work involved in getting herself into the world. Although she would love nothing more than to curl up and nap, her need to find her lifemate draws her to the Bitran woman. With a cry of exultation, the Bitran announces the green's name immediately after their Impression. On the sands, The Fires Dancing Shadows Egg wobbles violently, catching your eye. On the sands, Celis raises an eyebrow at the dizzy green "She looks so.. drunk!" and then she grins as Arana impresses her and calls "Congratulations Arana!" On the sands, Halam pats Arina's shoulder "Way to go partner!" On the sands, Rhaine grins as the green finds her mate. "Room is good," she agrees with Jehran, standing back, waving to Arana with her free hand. "Congratulations!" On the sands, On the sands, Denali smiles at the green, but the smile is faint, her eyes dim as she shrugs, "There are more.." she murmurs to herself sadly, "Yes!" and her face perks up, "There must be." Alane blinks at Miran. "I dunno. I just got back from sweeps. Did you ask Kandri?" I'sai, no expert on scurvy, calls over his shoulder when he hears his name: "What does it have to do with a ship - ah. Telgar's duties to -you-. Hello." He adds a smile before turning back, increasingly quietly; "...Oh. Sorry about that, Leya... not that, yeah. Tovith. Telgar. Both good." On the sands, Divya relaxes as she sees the green choose Arana. She smiles and says, "Congratulations, Arana! You did it!" On the sands, A series of small cracking sounds are heard, and several holes appear in the Fires Dancing Shadows Egg, each one showing either foot, or snout, or tiny wingtip. On the sands, Saruh remembers VSC and hides behind Eolan. When she sees Arana being chosen she sighs in relief. "Yay, Arana! " Kaylira agrees with S'more, "Lime, aye, Uncle Is, lime that's just started melting a little. I love 'em. Mum loves 'em, too, so she keeps a stock of 'em hidden in the cold Stores-I'm sure she'd let you have one if you wanted, Uncle Is." Looking towards May, she then scans the Sands and points. "There's Jehran down there, he's going to Impress something. Bronze, maybe. Or brown, that'd be neat. And there's Halam, too." Aurian smirks at N'ren, "So I gather." She nods, "Yeah.... definitely understand the whole dancing thing now. Have to grumpily admit to you being right.." She wrinkles her nose, "Definitely more difficult with the more partners." She blinks at the candidates, "Sometimes.. its hard thinking about being that young ever.." On the sands, Limbs push outward with combined effort, and the Fires Dancing Shadows Egg suddenly bursts open to reveal a gangly brown dragonet, looking about him with blinking eyes. On the sands, Arana blinks, and blinks again. "Me?" she whispers soflty. "Not me? Yes, me!" tears start falling down her face. "Her name is Ivyrth!" she cries. On the sands, Elegant Sun-Dappled Rust Brown DragonetFrom graceful neck ridges, to long spade tipped tail; this small brown is the essence of elegance. Muscles are set for a streamlined and dexterous body that when he grows to his full size and quickness will belittle his larger companions. His wings are not as wide as most, but they are long and will add to his maneuverability in the air. Even his head knobs have a slim and fit appearance as they sweep back from his eyeridges in a smooth flow. His hide is akin to rusty copper long submerged beneath a clear stream and dappled by bright sunlight. The hue flows over his hide in a steady ease, even continuing up his wing spars to some degree. This overall shading is most appealing, but not metallic by any right and definitely more russet than anything else. Sails and spars are of a slightly deeper shade of brownish orange. The sails are slightly different from the supporting spars with a tincture at their middle of a quite vibrant orange, which fades to a darker tin at the tips. The tin color is reminiscent in hue of the wing spars, but is set off by slightly lighter shading. Long spars are dappled in a way similar to the rest of his hide except that they appear to be more like the bark of a tree with varying deep shades, much like grooves in appearance, in them. Overall, this is one of the fittest of High Reaches' newest browns.
On the sands, Spiriel smiles at Arana. "Congratulations, to you and Ivyrth." On the sands, Eolan calls out to his fellow Candidate, "Congratulations, Arana!" His attention is caught by the cracking sounds and he blinks with a start, watching the shards scatter and reaching behind him for Saruh, as if she could protect him back there or something. He grins when the dragonet appears, "Another brown!" Black brows knit together as Miran continues staring intently at Alane. "How could you lose a candidate? Hanneth can't even find her. All she can tell me is that she's all right, but doesn't want to be found." On the sands, Halam shivers..not from cold but excitement as Fires dancing shadows cracks open to reveal a handsom brown dragonette moving from confinement to freedom. On the sands, Denali turns sharply to see what color emurges from the Fires egg. Seing a brown, she ohs and shows more than just a bit of interest." On the sands, "Congratulations," says Jehran softly, smiling at Arana and Ivyeth fondly. Alane cheers as one of /her/ candidates is impressed. "Ivyrth, suitable for a green." Leya grins and claps, "Anothe person from the woodcraft! She was the nanny there!" she says pointing excitedly. On the sands, Celis croons lightly as the Firey colored egg splits apart to reveal another brown. "Oh, look Rhaine!" she cries "His wings, they look like the sun's shining on them.." Tella sighs as she watches the sands, spotting the newest brown with a grin. She sits up and watches the rest with an intrest. On the sands, S'dar grins at the new pair, but his appreciation is cut short as another brown bursts from his confinement to rove the hot Sands. He gives Laurel's arm a squeeze as he watches. On the sands, Rhaine now peers curiously, as Celis croons. "You never told me you could do that." She turns her eyes to lock upon the new brownie though. "Oh, he is nice." On the sands, Br'mar nods along as more impressions are made and smiles a bit, realizing how true Josira's words from earlier this evening were. Kvasith rests his head on Tierth's neck lightly. He rumbles happily. Simple pleasures. I'sai glances sideways, with a brief chuckle; "The cold stores, you say? I'll tell her you said so - wait, nanny? That makes a change. Good for her; if she can put up with littles, good practice for a, ...er, for a dragon." He fidgets with the scarf a little more, pleating it between his fingers. On the sands, Saruh looks around from behind Eolan, eyes wide. "Ohh... he's pretty! I bet he wants you, Eolan." Alane turns back to Miran, her brow furrowed. "I hope her dragons not on the sands, at least you know she's safe." N'ren nods, "A common enough thing on the other side of the view, Aurian. Especially as you get older." He grins. "And you don't have to be grumpy about me being right. I'm right about a lot of things. You should know that by now." On the sands, The Elegant Sun-Dappled Rust Brown Dragonet takes his first steps with a decidedly suave air, moving away from the clutter of egg shards and onto the heated stands. He pauses for a moment, surveying his surroundings and the white-clad Candidates, before beginning the journey to his eventual lifemate. On the sands, Denali raises an eyebrow at the brown, "So sure of himself.." To S'more, Terrilia says, "How many browns is that so far?" Her eyes follow the brown dragonet across the sands. On the sands, Halam watches the brown emerge and move out on the sands. He watches momentarilly and than as if his head were on a swival turns from the eggs to the hatchling and back again to the eggs Bessa is just rivited.. On the sands, Celis blinks at Rhaine "That I could do what?" she says, and jerks her attention back to the brown as it moves across the sands in their direction. "Oh, he's coming this way!" she bounces ever so lightly, doing the candidate dance from the hot sands. "Brown! Brown! Brown!" Kaylira chants, clapping her hands with glee and rumpling the hide horribly. "Only he's kind of orangey, but I heard somebody say orange is the color of seduction, so maybe he'll sire lots of other browns." The prospect clearly delights her. Trine watches the brown in awe. On the sands, Eolan tears his eyes away from the brown to look at Saruh, stepping sideways so she's fully revealed, "I bet he's for you, but he won't find you back there!" Cenica shakes her head, saying quietly to her dragon, "He reminds me of you, Rahth." Leya eyes I'sai suspsiciously from the corner of her eye, but quickly look back grin down at the newest brown. "Browns are good." On the sands, Denali quickly calls to Celis, "VSC!" S'more says "Three, Terrilia." On the sands, Rhaine fidgets with the two braids she managed to tie her hair back into before they arrived on the sands. "You, made a noise..." She's note quite as eager as Celis appears to be, feet quivering as she prepares to give any room or distance needed. On the sands, Two greens and a blue have all hatched at once. This trio moves forward at an almost mirror-like pace. A green and a blue each head to one side of the semi-circle, while the other green peruses the boys and girls before her. Snorting, she shoves her head between two Candidates, to peer at the petite, young man behind them. With a croon the Impression is made, while the other green and blue each choose a girl from the Sebring Traders. On the sands, Divya says, "He acts like he's a bronze instead of a brown." Once again, she wipes her face dry as she speaks, not that it'll do much good. On the sands, Halam also urges Saruh forward. "You'll not be found back there girl. On the sands, Laurelin looks up at S'dar again as he squeezes her arm, her pride and excitement plain on her face and in her dark eyes. She gives a soft 'oh' as another dragonet steps clear of its shell and finds its lifemate. On the sands, Spiriel continues to shift her feet, trying to combat the heat radiating from the sands. At least its a distraction from the nervousness, as she watches the eggs crack and the hatchlings find their lifemates. Maylia eyes Kaylira thoughtfully, before laughing outright. "Pink, Kay. Ask your mother, PINK is the colour of seduction. But maybe you're right, and he'll catch a gold someday." On the sands, S'din smiles and nods approvingly at Denali. Ellwiny murmurs a quiet apology to those around her, eyes distancing as she speaks with her lifemate. Julanna looks over and wiggles her eyebrows at Terrilia. "Quiet, am I? I'm being deep and contemplative, didn't y'know? No, really -- I'm just concentrating hard on those I hope will Impress. It's hard to sort everyone out through madness." Then she turns around, catching the tail end of N'ren's statement, and quickly shifts focus back on the sands before she's too tempted to comment. I'sai agrees, "They are, but I don't know about this orange theory. 'Seduction'? Ew. You're not supposed to know about that yet, either, are you, 'lira. ...Pink, I can see that, just not on a dragon." Saskia giggles "Yeah, Kassi was a big hit when she dressed all in pink." On the sands, Step, step -no, glide. This one glides, with an smoothness almost not to be believed for an ungainly newborn dragonet. The Elegant Sun-Dappled Rust Brown Dragonet makes his way methodically around the Candidates, pausing occasionally with a quick lift of his muzzle to look one over. Always, though, he moves on...until his whirling eyes lock on one. Yes, him. -That- one. Aurian grins at her mentor, "Faranth I'm glad you were right. At least it made the whole thing bearable." She wrinkles her nose happily. She pushes her hands through her hair, "It is good to see you N'ren. We should see each other more often... did I ever introduce you to my daughter?" On the sands, Celis's eyes widen a bit, and she ceases her shuffling nodding "VSC, VSC, VSC.." she almost chants, keeping eyes on the brown. On the sands, Saruh eeps and stands aside, "Nooo... VSC!" she looks for another to hide behind. On the sands, Denali gives S'din a half smile and a shrug. She doesn't see who the brown impresses. Miran shakes her head. "I'll tan the hide off that girl when she's found," she mutters, but her fingernails are digging crescent moons into the flesh of her upper arms. Alane looks over towards Saskia. "Kassima in pink? I don't believe it." Leya arches an eyebrow and grins at Saskia, "Kassi? In pink? How did you manage that?" S'more calls back, while keeping his eyes on the sands below, to the girl, "Purple....at least for dragons, purple is for seduction." Tella chuckles as she watches the hatchlings and candidates. "What's that they're saying? I wish I knew.." On the sands, The Elegant Sun-Dappled Rust Brown Dragonet stares deeply into Eolan's eyes. N'ren shakes his head, "Nope. I didn't even know you were pregnant." He pauses, "Who's the father? That boy you hated so much... what was his name again?" D'len mms, "Very Sharp Claws." On the sands, Jehran looks around to see who's been saying 'VSC'. "No need to be afraid," he says, sounding slightly detached, "Just be alert." On Mauroth, X'dren murmurs slyly, "Very Sharp Claws..." On the sands, Hop step, hop step Halam tries to move to cool off his feet. On the sands, Rhaine wipes at her mouth, swallowing as well. She keeps a close eye on the brown, and the boy he's stopped in front of, calling out her, "Congratulations!" Trine wooos for the young man! "Kassi looks lovely in pink!" V'hryn pipes up, or was it him that looked lovely in pink? Alane chuckles at D'len. "Yep, it a candie motto around here. " Terrilia gives Julanna another quick smile, trying not to miss anything happening below. "Just wondered how you were doing, with that green. Oh look-there goes the brown!" Tella looks over to D'len with a nod. "Makes sence.." Seeing the impression, she grins, claping happily. Leya grins at the sunny brown impresses. On the sands, Halam waves "Yes Eolan! Congrats." Kaylira's brow wrinkles in confusion. "Mum says that pink's the color of hideous lace, being laughed at, and forty-seven and a half marks," she protests. "Where does seduction come in? Oh, I overhear stuff lots, Uncle Is, down in the Caverns. I know all about bronzeriders being lecherous, too. Though Khari's the one who likes going up to 'em and asking whether they're lecherous or nay. You saw Mum in *pink*, Uncle Lace?" Aurian laughs, "No thank Faranth. N'kshar was the father. A'ser has the tendency to drop me into things.. like pickle barrels." On the sands, Eolan chuckles at Saruh and just turns to see the dragonet standing right in front of him. He blinks once, twice and then falls to his knees, "Lazryth?"` On the sands, Celis smiles warmly to Eolan "Congrats!" S'more points. "There goes the other brown....I was talking to that fellow t'other day. Eolan? He's nice." Saskia laughs "It was a bet of course. She looked utterly amazing. It was all pink and lacey and soo cuuute!" she bursts into giggles again. "I wish an artist had taken a portrait though I imagine Kassi would have murdered anyone if they had dared." On the sands, Spiriel smiles. "Congratulations Eolan." On the sands, Divya sees Eolan impress the brown and calls out, "Congratulations!" to him. On the sands, Halam says "Cool Name Eolan"" On the sands, Denali turns back, "Eolan! Whoo!" Riell looks about as she hears the name of her first sons father "N'kshar?" On the sands, S'din grins happily as he strides over to the new rider's side, "Congratulations to E'lan and Lazryth!" He slaps a congratulatory hand on the young man's solid shoulder, leaning close to speak softly to him, guiding him toward the passageway and meat and oil without. On the sands, The Meteor Shower Egg wobbles slightly, almost unnoticeably, barely disturbing the sand around its base. Alane nods, mumbling. "I'd have paid marks to see Kassi in pink and lace." On the sands, Jehran says "Congratulations, Eolan!" Aurian slides her hands into her pockets, "Her name is Aumaylia anyways.." On the sands, Saruh grins and manages to get safely behind Denali. "Ooh! Lazryth and Eolan!" Her gaze is happy and longing as her friend finds a best friend. On the sands, The Meteor Shower Egg continues to wobble, back and forth, each movement larger than the one before, until it rolls over, startling a newly hatched brown dragonet right beside it. I'sai applauds the stranger while he's at it, adding afterward, "I -bet- you overhear stuff." He hesitates. "Er, that's 'in a manner of speaking,' 'bet.' Don't have any marks for that sort of thing. As it happens, our class, we didn't get all the lechery lessons; isn't that tragic?" On the sands, Denali turns to grin at Saruh, "Your safe back there." N'ren hms, "Seemed like a good fellow." He nods at Aurian, "I approve." Like he gets to approve or disapprove of Aurian's relationships. "That's a mouthful. How old is she?" On the sands, A tiny snout breaks through the hard surface of the wobbling Meteor Shower Egg, and along with it comes an eager crooning. Leya's expression is comical as she imagines Kassi in pink lace, "I believe it. Did she shred it afterwards?" She eyes Kaylira, "Well, at least she was well payed for it." I'sai adds with a mutter of his own, "Only, it'd probably be pink and lace and knives, and then where would you be." On the sands, Thud! Crack! The hole in the Meteor Shower Egg widens, bit by tiny bit, until a little brown dragonet finally breaks through to fall to the sands. On the sands, Celis grins "Look, it's goign to be another brown.. Lot of browns in this clutch.." she says to Rhaine. Alane shouts, jumping with joy, literally. "Eolan!" Aurian smile at N'ren, "Just over two turns." S'more wows. " On the sands, Autumnal Forest Foliage Brown DragonetDeep set eye ridges give this dragon a contemplative look that then combines with small headknobs, laid back against the skull, and a slight tilt to his lips to create a more mischievous air. A short neck and a longer tail mix with a torso that is not overly wide to give a sly and almost serpentine like appearance. Large wings and strong forearms make it clear that this is a dragon of the finest breed, born of High Reaches and obviously proud of his heritage. His hide glistens with health and the color of a forest floor in autumn. Russet, rust, umber and hints of green are patched through his hide like so many leaves. Across his shoulders the fiery oranges and reds so known in autumn times are heavily mixed with the deep umber of earth and bark. The green tints that manage to sneak through are few and far between on his hide, though they make a stronger appearance across his huge sails. Those sails, big as they are, also hold the forests floor within their depths, yet the lightness of grass and moss can be seen along the edges and peeking through the fall hues. Mainly the dark umber is in the tones of his wings, highlighted by the orange rust and mossy greens. The spars that hold his magnificent wings aloft are another dazzling sight to behold. Wings the color of the first autumn leaf, an almost metallic orange that gleams when oiled look strong, powerful and capable of carrying him long and far. Darker lines can be seen within the orange of his wings, like the vein of the dried leaf they so represent.
S'more says "Another brown?" Al'ric keeps an eye on the sands and one on those chattering on the ledges, settling comfortably again on Tiganath's red-spattered bronze knee. On the sands, The Eleventh Hour Egg tilts to one side. On the sands, Rhaine just continues to shift quietly, gaze wandering back and forth between Celis and the eggs. "Looks like it. They're all...ooh..he's really pretty," she states, her previous comment being cut off. Bessa wows! "Brown again! All so handsome!" N'ren nods, "Fostering or trying to care for her yourself? If it's the latter, I feel sorry for you right now." On the sands, Reluctant to leave the shards, a deep green dragonet looks uncertainly around her at the cluster of white. Slowly, the hatchling struggles to her feet unsteadily then lets out a soft creel. With momentary hesitation from the shock of Impression, a sixteen turn old girl from Balen Hold steps forward and gently helps her lifemate from the Sands. Aurian shakes her head, "No.. she's going to be fostered. I just need to be finding where to foster her. She's been trying to escape the weyr right now so Kvasith has to sleep across the ledge to keep her from doing so.." Kaylira asks I'sai, curious, "So you're a non-lecherous bronzer, Uncle Is? You should tell Khari. I think she's making some kind of list. Nay, Mum still has it, but only 'cause 'twas a gift and she doesn't shred gifts, and.... ooh! Brown again! I *like* this clutch!" Leya laughs as another brown hatches, "This is a wonderful hatching." Terrilia ohs softly. "Now that's a lovely brown." On the sands, Halam jumps as ..shatters and and another brown emerges. He looks over at Josira and shakes his head. "Wasn't a green." he says with a smile. On the sands, Denali gives out an exasperated sigh, "Faranth, how many browns in this clutch?" She watches enviously as another girl Impresses green. On the sands, Sitting atop the ruins of his egg, the Autumnal Forest Foliage Brown Dragonet raises his head, surveying the remaining group of Candidates that are arrayed before him. With careful studied steps, he removes himself from the egg moung and looks steadily up at his dam and sire, nearly striking a pose. On the sands, Spiriel nods. "There does seem to be alot of the browns." She looks back at the sands, distracted by the lives changing before her eyes. On the sands, Saruh stares at the latest hatchling, her mouth open. "My goodness! He's... superb!" she gasps. But... she doesn't leave the safety of Denali's cover. N'ren blinks, "Did you just start looking for a fostering? I'd have thought you would have done that earlier?" On the sands, Celis eyes the brown "He's posing, look!" she laughs softly "He's beautiful! He looks like the forests down south!" On the sands, Divya murmurs, "Brown is good. Look at him--he's all the colors of the forest." On the sands, Rhaine tilts her head towards the dragonet, still tugging at her braids. "He is." What more is there to say? The candidate, shifts in her boots, face bright red about now from all the heat. On the sands, Denali turns back to her shy shadow and grins, "If you want him, girl, go get his attention. On the sands, Halam tries to watch the posing brown and all the other activities. Aurian sighs and nudges at a rock with her boot, "Well.. I was just so busy I had no idea and then all of a sudden.. it was time." On the sands, A girl from the BakerCraft, shifting her weight from one hot foot to the other, is caught offguard the sheer destruction of an egg holding a bright blue dragonet. As she brushess miniscule shards of the eggshell from her hair, the blue gazes deeply into her eyes and makes the lifelong Impression. An odd expression flits over Leya's face as she hears what Kaylira calls I'sai, but it's gone in a moment and she back to smiling at the newest brown. N'ren is quite good enough to read that response, so he changes topics. "Forgive me for switching topics, but... why pickle barrels?" On the sands, The Autumnal Forest Foliage Brown Dragonet dips his head in a formal acknowledgement of his excellent parentage before turning toward the nerve-wracked, sweaty, shifting Candidates. His creel is soft, almost perfectly measured, similar to a well-compress Harper sonnet. On the sands, Halam smiles as the baker makes impression and waves "Good going." Kerilinth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before she wings down and lands lightly on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. Choloth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he backwings to a neat landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. "If nothing else, by comparison," I'sai tells the girl, by happenstance missing the glance - this time; "T'rio, now," the third of their brood, "He has a certain, ah, innate talent for that sort of thing. Does ... 'Khari'? Make a lot of lists?" Aurian smirks, "Don't know exactly.. he's come into the steam baths and carried me off from there and drops me into Ofira's good pickles. Jinryth emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he glides to a swift landing on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. Cellia uses the straps for handholds while descending from Choloth's neck, arriving on the ground with a thump. Choloth extends a foreleg to help Cellia dismount. Kerilinth wings to a quick landing on one of the ledges. Bessa sighs almost dreamily. "Oh! He is... so..so.. I don't know." K'nder slides down Kerilinth easily. On the sands, Celis grins at the newest brown "Div, I'll bet he's yours, listen to him! Just like a harper!" N'ren shudders, "There's one person who I'm sure is glad to be rid of me." Alane waves to her aunt. "Aunt Cellia! You didn't miss it!" Tika slides down Jinryth's side landing easily on the ground below. She smiles gently patting his side in reassurance as he watches. Riell licks her lips "Come on little one..choose.." Cellia hops off, grinning to Alane. "Only just!" She waits for K'nder. S'more nudges Schmitt and Julanna and just grins at that brown. K'nder grins at Alane and waves. "We hurried!" Aurian chuckles, "He still whines about you." On the sands, Denali disengages her fingers from Divya's hand muttering , "VSC.." Terrilia seems particularly intent on the newest brown, leaning forward to watch him closely. She looks like she might be holding her breath. On the sands, Adela lingers with the ever shrinking cluster of candidates. Al'ric glances toward Cellia and waves, briefly, before folding his arms across his chest again and resuming his stoic stance. On the sands, Nodding, Rhaine seems to agree with Celis. "He can strike a good note, and on key even. And he's pretty." Schmitt replies, near automatically, Blue's better." N'ren asks, "Who? A'ser or Ofira?" On the sands, Saruh stands her ground, blinking when the shell of a blue explodes and the nurtured life inside choses. She looks back to the brown and grins. "I think so too, Halam." On the sands, Divya chuckles and says, "Yes, he does. But so did that first blue, and he chose someone else." Aurian smirks, "A'ser." Alane grins. "T'ris is with the new weyrlings. Yes, Ro, Arana, Arey, Eolan and some others." Tika hops off Jinryth and heads right over the the Igenites. "Sorry I'm late.. what'd I miss? And I agree with you, Schmitt." On the sands, Halam nods "Ya Div The two of you could do quite the duet." S'more shakes his head, lauging. On the sands, Denali gives her partner a pat on the shoulder, "He's over here, isn't he, Div?" N'ren snorts, "Well, I guess that means he doesn't have much else to complain about." That could be a good thing." Cellia grins, gently but forcefully making her way through the crowd to stand by her niece, holding K'nder's hand firmly. Kaylira manages to pick up on the confusing poing, and elucidates, "Khari's Kharisma, my sister. I've got another, Mela, but I don't have to be around her all the time. Khari's just been really curious about bronzerider lechery since she met Uncle G'har." Alane watches to see if the harper toned dragon will choose the harper candidate. Julanna gets up from her seat by Miraeth to dart over towards Cellia. "Hey!" she calls. K'nder grins over at Alane, above Cellia's head as she tows him over. "T'ris with the new weyrlings?" Leya's eyes widen as she sees the newest rider to arrive on the ledges. "Tika! Hi!" On the sands, In careful steps, the Autumnal Forest Foliage Brown Dragonet approaches a clustered grouping of female Candidates. Unfortunately, he does not notice the tail of a green clutchmate flicking in front of his path. He trips, his dignified visage burying itself in the sand as his eyes roll up, up, up to meet the gaze of his future. Aurian snickers, "He still has plenty to whine about.." S'more says to Tika, "Jehan and Eolan are the only ones I knew who Impressed." Cellia belatedly catches Julanna's greeting. "Heyla, Ju!" she calls back, waving through the crowd. On the sands, The Autumnal Forest Foliage Brown Dragonet stares deeply into Divya's eyes. I'sai nods through the names, "Why, uh, 'Uncle G'har'? I have to warn you, though, I've met a couple of lecherous brownriders," in quite the confidential tone. Not that he looks at Dawnslight's wingleader, for all that a smile's tugging at his mouth. K'nder points excitedly at the sands. "Cel, look! Divya and the brown!!" Trine says "Oh!" S'more lets out a whoop. "Divya's gonna be a *brownrider*!!!" Schmitt yells loudly, "Divya! Even if he isn't blue!" Alane starts cheering wildly, chanting, "Divya! Divya! Divya!" On the sands, Denali pushes Divya forward, "Told ya!" she whispers and steps away, trying not to trample Saruh. Tika looks over and waves wildly to Leya. "Hey Leya!" she calls then peeks into the sands. "Did Div.... DIVYA!" she screems happily. Terrilia gasps, smiling, and points down. "Divya! He chose Divya! Oh good!" Cellia's mouth drops, then she gasps and cheers. "Divya!" she cries, as loud as the rest. I'sai breaks off, "Div - someone said - " he leans down, stares. On the sands, Celis gasps as the brown falls and then smiles as impression is made with Divya "I knew it!" she says and claps softly "Congratulations Div!" D'len shouts, "DIVYA! YOU'D BEST FIND SOMEONE TO SING MY SONG!!!" On the sands, Spiriel beams at Divya. "Congratulations!" She waits with baited breath for Divya to say her lifemate's name. N'ren glances around as people start chanting the name Divya. "Eh?" On the sands, Rhaine takes a step back, and just grins at Divya and her new lifemate. She nods, smile loftily placed on her lips. "Congratulations Divya." On the sands, Br'mar tries not to look proud as his sister impresses a fine looking brown dragon, but he can't help himself. He gives Josira's arm an extra tight squeeze. Julanna jumps around. "Didja see? Did you! Divya! I *knew* it!" Leya waves back to Tika, then her head wips around as she hears the chanting, "Divya? Divya!" she exclaims. On the sands, Divya bends down and falls on her knees to hug the brown dragonet. "Konnevath! I can hear you!" Tears start to slowly rolls out of her eyes in pure joy. Aurian smiles fondly, "Another impression.." She glances towards Kvasith with a tender look. On the sands, Saruh giggles and makes an aborted step towards th brown, thinking to help, but remembering VSC. When the choise is made she bounces once again. "Yay Divya! " Trine says in wonderment, "Everyone knows Divya!!" Al'ric takes a peek backward at Kaylira, just to see what the little girl is doing. On the sands, Josira eeps, pulling away to rub her arm. She gives Br'mar one of those looks that says 'you're sleeping on the ledge tonight, buster'. Kerilinth bugles loudly to Konnevath and Divya! Cellia squeezes K'nder's hand tightly in her joy. Tella claps loudly, "What a beautiful name!" Alane hugs anyone around her, K'nder, Cellia...jumping wildly, hugging Quin's next. Even the blue looks happy for the newly impressed brownrider. Jehrina asks, succinctly, "Who?" Riell jumps up as Divya impresses and laughs.. Jesica chuckles and nods after giving a loud whistle, "Yep, a lot of people know her." On the sands, A broad grin crosses Halam's face as Div impresses "We want a serinade in a few days from the two of you." On the sands, Two Tillekian girls standing close together giggle and point to a duo of greens, who seem to be arguing over one boy. They're butting each other out of the way to get to him, until those giggles. They both turn with ecstatic croons and charge the girls. Giggles turn to exclamations of suprise as two Impressions are made and the girls find their lifemates. On the sands, S'din nods, as if he almost knew this one had to come to pass. He steps carefully toward the new pair, calling out "Welcome to the riders of High Reaches, Divya and Konnevath!" He smiles at the girl and lifts her by her elbow, urging her to join her new wingmates through the passage. Cleosia bites her tongue so as not to laugh at D'len's shout so she can retain her attention on the sands On the sands, S'dar grins as the former Harper meets her match, so to speak. "A fine lot of Weyrlings we're gathering so far, enh, S'din?" he mutters cheerfully to Melisandeth's rider. On the sands, The Eleventh Hour Egg rocks purposefully. No mere shuddering or wobbling for this one. K'nder hugs Cellia and bounces. "Dibvya, I knew it!" N'ren calls across the crowd, "D'va's daughter, 'rina." Cellia hugs K'nder back, Alane as well, just thrilled. Leya laughs, "Divya is, or was, a harper. She's at a lot of gathers." On the sands, A loud thumping, from the inside of the hard shell, now accompanies the steady rocking of the Eleventh Hour Egg. On the sands, S'din chuckles and nods to S'dar, "I'm not sure I could have picked a better bunch of Weyrlings if I'd been the one to make the decision!" On the sands, Divya rises slowly and says, "Come on, Konnevath. There's food this way." On the sands, Denali sighs extemsivly, "Get up here Saruh, if I don't Impress, you'd better!" "I'm nay certain, but I think he was the first one to try and answer her questions about lechery," Kaylira attempts to explain, probably not very well. "Uncle G'har is neat. He gives Mum knives. But *I'm* nay going to be a lecherous brownrider, I'm going to be-hey!" Yes, she just noticed Divya's Impression, and she shouts with delight, "Another girl got a brown! And his name starts with K-'tis *perfect*! Perfect, perfect, oh, wait'll I tell Mum." Trine says "It'll be a bronze.." On the sands, The Eleventh Hour Egg cracks, once, twice, thrice in rhythm to its methodical rocking, and pieces of the shell fall away, here and there. On the sands, Rhaine quirks a brow and glances at what's making all the noise. "Oh, look...I liked that one too." Trine whispers, "Bronze.... On the sands, Without too much more fuss, the Eleventh Hour Egg breaks open and a blue hatchling's head appears, then his body. He shakes a shard from his snout and looks about him. Tika claps her hands happily. "Oh Divya!" a tear escapes her eye - she was there when the girl was Searched, after all. "She deserves it!" On the sands, Celis points to the Eleventh Hour Egg "Oh Rhaine.. That's what I was about to ask, wasn't that your favourite?" On the sands, Spectrum of Dawn Blue DragonetAzure and cobalt play a smooth dance across this young blue's hide in a patterning that is not choppy, chunky or patchy in any way, but more of a smooth gloss across his entire body. Hints of purple rise from the calm waters of his hide, to ride below the ridges of his neck. An almost seamless meld from azure into violet sets off the sky-like color of the ridges. Color the lightest of early morning skies, not varying in the slightest from one to the next, tints the ridges, which are angled up sharply into a fine spire at the ends before dipping back downwards. As the arete dwindles between his wings, the ridges lend their lightness to the sails. When his wings outstretch you can see the true melding of the blue spectrum within them, at the tips it is almost the black of indigo while at the base, where they meet his hide, it is that same soft sky blue hue the shades the sails. The dark cobalt of his wing spars whose shade is lent, or so it seems, from a darker form of the color of his hide carefully separates the dawn tinctured, chromatic dispersion between wing and hide. His wings rise with a graceful, lithe appearance from his back and look to be his strongest point. The wing texture is a seeming deep engravement, or canyons, or cracks that run up and down the surface with no apparent recurrent pattern. The smoothness of his hide adds to the dappled spectrum of his wings, making this powerful yet gentle creature a sight to behold. Trine snaps her finger. On the sands, Denali giggles, "Blue, i was right!" Quinaeth rumbles with pleasure as a blue hatchling emerges. Kazeth croons, excitedly. S'more pokes at Schmitt. "Happy?" He's still grinning. Leya smiles, "Not a brown, but still a very pretty blue." Telgar Weyr> Ro promptly snugs all and faints. On the sands, Halam chuckles at Denali "Did you bet on it?" Schmitt grins, "Oh, aye." On the sands, Celis grins at Denali "You were! And he's as georgous as the rest!" she grins and nudges Rhaine "I bet he's for you.." Telgar Weyr> Ryialla pouncesnugs Ro! Telgar Weyr> T'saren smooches Ro! Nice going! I'sai doesn't exactly stop grinning, just teases through that last part that he hadn't missed, "How do you know they're not going to write it with a 'C'? They're strange that way." Telgar Weyr> Leya catches Ro and gives her a big hug. :) Telgar Weyr> Alyssa says, "Salute, Weyrling." Telgar Weyr> I'sai woooos! On the sands, A bronze emerges from the shell of the grey and purple streaked egg and almost immediately saunters over to a group of candidates. One particularly unlucky Igen lad gets in the way and is bowled over by the unsuspecting bronzeling. Still, the bronze keeps going, undaunted, and quickly impresses to a Harper, while the Igenite - who is unharmed and being helped up by his fellow candidates - immediately after garners the attention of a green who had been wandering the sands for some time. The lad excitedly calls out the name of his new lifemate. Alane turns her attention back to the sands. There are more impressions to be made. Cellia chuckles, "Well, they can't all be browns." She squeezes K'nder's hand fondly. Telgar Weyr> Alyssa says, "Our loss, Reaches' definite gain. Handsome lifemate too, Ro." On the sands, Rhaine bats at Celis's hand. "Naw, he's too pretty for me." She smiles and just goes back to watching, and rocking. On the sands, Denali rolls her eyes, "As if I have a mark to bet with, Halam." Telgar Weyr> Ryialla sits on Lys. Let her have a little time to just be stunned, woman. :) Much congrats, Ro. Terrilia ahs at the blue dragon, then looks in concern toward the bronze and the boy he knocked down. On the sands, S'din smiles proudly, almost as if he were a new father and quickly and efficiently guides the new pairs off the sands. He definitely seems to be getting better at this. On the sands, The Spectrum of Dawn Blue Dragonet steps quietly from the shards of her egg, turning back to regard them with what resembles a fondness before turning to the white Candidates surrounding him. Regal, yet joyful, he flicks his tailtip quickly to remove the very last bit of shell. On the sands, "Are there many left?" Jehran asks his fellow candidates as he waves congratulations to the two pairs in the process of leaving the Sands. K'nder chuckles, and kisses his weyrmate. "No, love, most are greens." he grins fondly at his lifemate who cranes her neck down to regard the two. Telgar Weyr> Alyssa admits she hasn't smiled at an Impression in a while as much as she has at Ro's. It's just cool. Miraeth cranes her long neck around for a look at the new blue, which seems to pass her inspection as she croons approvingly. Telgar Weyr> Ro salutes, and droplets of blood and oil go flying, spattering the bluerider. Telgar Weyr> Maylia laughs, even Maylia doesn't start in on the saluting till the day after ;) congrats, Ro :) Kaylira gives I'sai a reproachful look. "Because who'd write aught with a C that they could write with a K? Oh, now, blue-" She leans forward again, putting her weight on her hands and tightening her grip so as not to fall. "He's really, really pretty, isn't he?" On the sands, Spiriel nods with the others, agreeing with them. "He is handsome, isn't he? The way his hide holds so many colors." Tika chuckles. "I personally always saw Divya as a... hey look! Blue!" she elbows Jinryth happily. "Not as pretty as you though.." "True," Cellia replies amiably, grinning away. Telgar Weyr> Alessandra giggles at a Ro. Well done. Telgar Weyr> Kassima grins and congrats Ro, and thanks her, too. On Kaylira's advice, Kassi bet a small fortune on brown for you and is now rich(er). ;) On the sands, Saruh gives a farewell wave to Divya and Konnevath before glancing to the eggs again. The blue and bronze get her attention. "I love those colors." She smiles tiredly as the bronze quickly makes his choice. Miran watches the clutch of eggs dwindle as their occupants find lifemates. "If her lifemate was on the sands, serves her right," she says under her breath. "Stupid girl." On the sands, Halam winks at Denali "Me either." he says before turning back to watch the eggs. On the sands, Celis smiles at the blue dragonet, being sure to be able to dodge. "He does that regeally." she says and calls her congratulations after the newest bronzerider On the sands, Denali laughs, "Rainbow, isn't he? Good color.." Telgar Weyr> Ryialla makes Kassi spend all her marks on Ryi for her 40th. You've got a turn and a couple of months, Kassi. Make it good. :) On the sands, Rhaine holds up a hand, shielding herself from any egg goo or shell shards flicked her way. "He's made a mess of that beautiful shell.." She shakes her head, a lopsided grin fixed on her lips. Mauroth watches the rest of the Hatching, and later carries her rider home to their weyr... "Oh, I -see-," I'sai says most solemnly, reprooved; "That explains a lot." And he looks obligingly down to the sands, to see. On the sands, Spreading his wingsails wide to steady himself, the Spectrum of Dawn Blue Dragonet turns slowly from one end of the semicircle to the other, as unhurried as the rising of any sun. One step first, and then the other -- a stumble, but no harm done -- he heads with a definite authority towards one who caught his eye. Telgar Weyr> Kassima has Kassi blow her entire life savings on a giant solid gold statue of Mr. Flibble for Ryi, ayep. On the sands, Jehran grins at Rhaine, and says, "There's not often a whole lot left of the eggshells after a Hatching, is there." Telgar Weyr> Jehrina says, "I can see the minecraft/smithcraft trying *that* commision. bhahaha" Telgar Weyr> Jehrina You want a WHAT? On the sands, Denali grins over at Rhaine, "He's yours, Rhaine." Telgar Weyr> I'sai -laughs-. On the sands, Celis rolls her eyes "Sure Rhaine, but you can save the shell if you want it." she watches the blue carefully, hoping, eager, but ready to dodge if she should need to. Telgar Weyr> Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no. We /heard/ about that day. No. Telgar Weyr> Ro says, "What can I say, I bet marks on a brown for her in ten or so turns, Kassi." On the sands, Rhaine peers over at Denali and just grins, shaking her head. "I dunno. That's up to him," she says, hooking her thumb towards the blue. She's with Celis though, ready to dance out of the way should he race by. On the sands, Saruh steps lively from foot to foot, the heat making it's way through the boot soles. She doesn't pay much attention to the eggs at the moment. "Neccessary" she murmers. Kaylira seems a bit sheepish as she clarifies for I'sai, "Well, K's the fortunate letter, see. If you want a baby to have good luck, you name 'em something starting with K, so that must work for baby dragons too." On the sands, Denali turns with authority and sets a light hand on Saruh's shoulder, pulling her up beside her. On the sands, Refurling his wings partially, and keeping an eye on his feet to ensure as much steadiness as can be expected, the Spectrum of Dawn Blue Dragonet walks in the direction of his future partner in life. He stops in front of a cluster of white-robed Candidates, and looks up, up, up...there she is. This is who he's been waiting for. On the sands, Halam watches the blue with one eye nad the rest of the eggs with the other. Who's he going to pick? "Rhaine maybe he's yours" Telgar Weyr> Kassima hees. The scary thing, Ro, is that in ten or so Turns, she'll almost be too old. She's *eleven* now. Fear that. On the sands, The Spectrum of Dawn Blue Dragonet stares deeply into Spiriel's eyes. On the sands, The Etched In Darkness Egg rocks gently, as if buoyed by the waves of sand surrounding it. K'nder points at Rhaine. "Cel! Spiriel! Wow.." he jumps a bit and hugs his weyrmate again. S'more jumps up. "Spiriel!! He chose Spiriel!!!" On the sands, Denali shrugs, and then grins at Spiriel, "Congrats!" Cellia jumps, pointing. "There! There! Look! Spiriel!" Dyrik grabs S'more's arm. "Spiriel! It's Spiri!" I'sai nods every few words as he learns the way of the K; "I see," he says. "I don't have any of those, unfortun... wait, is that one of those Tillek girls?" On the sands, One egg seems to be having all sorts of trouble hatching. As it rolls about, knocking into it's neighbors. Finaly it bumps into a roving blue and splits. Out tumbles a very suprised green, who twitters in a high pitch. His wings fly up about her head, but Yventh croons in encouragement. The wings lower after a moment as the little one scans the white robed things. With another shrill creel he spots her, standing just over there, a smiling teenager from the SmithCraft. On the sands, Rhaine smiles at Spiriel and waves to the girl. "Congratulations," she offers, turning back to the remaining eggs. On the sands, The Etched In Darkness Egg wobbles more insistently, as if annoyed by the lack of attention it is recieving. On the sands, Halam says "Wow Spiriel way to go!"" Tika clpas for the next. "A lovely bluerider pair!" she says, then looks over to S'more. "You know her, yes?" Terrilia just smiles happily as she sees the pretty blue Impress. On the sands, Denali laughs and turns tto Etched Egg, "That one's going to blow.." Alane is jumping up and down to. "Spiri! Whee! T'ris and the other werylingmasters are going to have thier hands full with this bunch!" On the sands, A loud thumping can be heard coming from the wobbling Etched In Darkness Egg, and soon after, branching cracks appear in the surface of its hard shell. Difficult for anyone to -not- notice this egg now. S'more nods and....nods s'more. On the sands, Celis grins happily for her fellow candidate "Congrats Spiriel!!" she cries out for the girl. On the sands, With a flurry of falling shards, the Etched In Darkness Egg shatters into pieces and a brown dragonet emerges from what is left of the shell. On the sands, Spiriel 's breath catches in her throat as the impression is made. She kneels down before the brown and touches his hide softly, as if shocked that this was happening. She looks up and smiles. "His name is Ilandrith." Miran growls a bit low in her throat, fingers tapping, and watches the impressions through narrowed eyes. On the sands, Melting Snowfall Brown DragonetWinter is ending and the snow finally succumbs to the relentless warmth and energy of Belior's rays. Just like the earth wakes to the first touch of spring's tenderness, this largish dragonet, too, wakes up as if from a long winter's nap, to shake free the shards of his egg as if they were the last melting vestiges of months worth of countless snowfalls. Large patches of brown earth, catching golden winks as if from sunshine, still bear traces of very muddy snow, here on the back of a upheld foreleg, there on the side of a merry muzzle, and there again stubbornly settled on a rounded haunch. This fledgling dragon moves as though half-frozen, each step is strong, deliberate and seems to involve as little of his body as possible. A turn to investigate a noise will involve only the slow rotation of his sable head and neck, while movement forward merely requires the careful pacing of mountain etched limbs.
On the sands, S'din nods, pieces falling into place as fewer and fewer eggs remain on the sands. He strides over to Spiriel and places a gentle hand on her should, "Congratulations on impressing Ilandrith, Spiriel, come, I'm sure he's hungry...this way." He carefully points her in the direction of the passageway and gets her moving along into the ready arms of his assistant weyrlingmasters. S'more says "Wait, what's his name? I didn't hear!" Leya grins as the blue impresses, "Ilandrith? Is that his name? It's nice." On the sands, Saruh winces. "All right, Denali." Then Spiriel is chosen. "Ooh, Spiriel! He want's you!" Then the name rings out. "Ilandrith... I like it." On the sands, Spiriel smiles and nods, standing up quickly from the sands. She heads out, following S'din and leading Ilandrith away. Cellia cheers, her face just wreathed in smiles. Julanna squeezes S'more's arm. "Isn't that your friend? Spiriel? Oh, what a lovely blue!" Dyrik nods to S'more. "Ilandrith, I think." He grins happily from ear to ear. On the sands, Denali giggles, "Imperious little brown, aint he? He moves so lightly, but he looks so heavy.." And then her eyes flick to the Tillek Egg, "Hasn't moved, wiggled, and cracked.." On the sands, The Melting Snowfall Dragonet blinks, as if surprised to find himself there. He sits down on his haunches in the middle of his scattered shell and opens his brown mouth and lets forth a MIGHTY BUGLE! Well, at least a little one, maybe. He'll improve with practice! On the sands, Rhaine just watches the last eggs, a bit detached from the goings on, until he bulges. She jumps slightly, and reaches out for Celis's hand. Aurian shakes her hair out, "So many browns.. wow. Nices shades too." She grins. On the sands, A tiny leg punches free of an eggshell which is followed by the rest of the struggling blue hatchling. His wings, darkened to nearly black at the wingtips, extend to help him maintain his balance right before he heads toward a group of nineteen-turn olds. Suddenly the Impression is made when a man from High Reaches Hold whoops loudly, pumping his fist into the air and greeting his new blue lifemate. On the sands, Halam watches as another brown emerges from the shells "Wow another brown he says to Celis." Halam turns as the brown bugles. On the sands, Denali lloks mellowly surprsied, "Attention craving..who ever Impresses him is going to have their hands full.." On the sands, S'din chuckles at the weyrling's exhuberance and lets him know how tired he's going to be over the next few weeks as he leads the pair off the sands. I'sai mutters something about Auntie Millie, ...and then can't help but laugh at the bugle; Taralyth, peeking over his and Tovith's shoulders, croons indulgent agreement for the youngling. On the sands, Saruh sweeps her hair back and holds it in a tiny runner tail a moment, watching Spiriel and Ilandrith leave. A drop of sweat runs down her nose and she brushes a robe shoulder across to catch it. "Mmm Brown?" she says turning back. Kaylira repeats, scrawling, "Il... an... drith, right, got it, and oh!" Guess what her next exclamation will be? Go on, guess. "Brown!" she sings out, throwing her stick up and catching it again in her cheer. "This is a terrific clutch! Though," she has to sigh, "Lysseth will probably say there should have been more greens." On the sands, Celis winces at the bugle "Eeeee.." she says "Oh, he's going to be a loud one!" she says, and squeezes Rhaine's hand. Her face shows a tumult of emotions running through her mind as she nods and vocalizes agreement with Denali. S'more beams, and hardly notices the new brown. Taelenna hops up onto Vallith's back, as the dragon warbles a greeting. Vallith launches off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. On the sands, Halam shakes sweat from his chin as the heat of the sands start to really get to him. He watches the brown move slowly through the shattered eggshells searching for his lifemate. Riell nods "loud indeed.." On the sands, Without further ado, and having announced his presence to the world, the Melting Snowfall Dragonet steps out of his shell with nary a look back. He exudes confidence, elegance, grace and charm....SPLAT. Well...maybe not. He slips on the shards of another hatchling's egg, but quickly lumbers to his feet, giving the shells a look as if they deliberately tripped him up. Hmph. Cellia leans on K'nder, her eyes just a bit distant. On the sands, Denali laughs, "What a character!" On the sands, S'dar grins. On the sands, Rhaine just smirks. K'nder smiles and wraps his arms around Cellia, watching the hatchlings go hither and yon, and with a wince for the stumbly brown. "Attitude." Tika plops down next to Jinryth, who is giving the sands a mightly curious look. "Yes dear, you were that small once... aren't they cute? Especially that borwn..." On the sands, Saruh giggles in spite of her discomfort. "Aww.. he's cute. And looks huggable too!" she murmers to Denali. Terrilia grins as she watches the latest brown, then smiles at Tika. "Cy found that hard to believe, too." On the sands, A particularly shy Candidate is entranced as the Silver Freeze egg practically disintegrates in front of her, revealing a shimmering green dragonet. Gawking in awe, she is even more suprised when the dragonet stumbles right at her and trips, the youngling's neck and head dropping onto the sands not two feet away. "Oh!" the girl says, then bends down to cradle the neck of the green, saying his name over and over again. On the sands, Celis giggles a little bit, standing quietly beside Rhaine. "Whoever becomes his lifemate is going to have a lot to keep up with." On the sands, Halam glances quickly over at S'dar before retuning his eyes to the sands Cellia nods, "That's for sure." She arranges herself comfortably in front of K'nder, her arms atop his. "But I'm sure he's not all attitude -- oh! There goes a green." I'sai whispers fondly to his dragon, "-You- did that. Only you looked up my robe, and didn't I get teased about it after. He has a little more good sense..." but Taralyth only snorts, ruffling the blond hair with a firestone-scented wind. On the sands, Denali grins down at the Trader, "Teddy Bear quality.." K'nder oohs. "What a pretty green.." he echoes Cellia almost unconciously. "Yeah, I think he's going to have a rather imperious attitude.. Maybe he's a bronze in disguise." On the sands, Laughing at the antics of the somewhat extroverted young brown, Jehran nods to Celis, "That one's not going to let anything slow him down for long." On the sands, Rhaine hmms quietly, nodding to Celis. "You're right, but my feet are getting too hot...I can't think straight." She keeps perhaps a faint hopeful watch on the brown. Alane leans against Quinaeth remembering her own time on these very sands. "No, you didn't trip. You knew just who you wanted." If her eyes are a bit moist those around understand. Aurian shakes her head, "Its so hard to follow some times.." Leya smiles at Tika, then abpruptly looks up at Tovith, "Oh, yes you were." She shakes her head, smiling. "Tovith doesn't think he was /ever/ that small." Riell smiles over at alane..her own eyes moist. Vallith emerges from the tunnel to the bowl, circling momentarily before he banks and lands neatly on on one of the ledges overlooking the sands. On the sands, Halam tries to see the eggs behind the brown as he moves across the sand. "Seems big for a brown hatcling, Doen't he Jehran?" On the sands, :Quickly forgetting about those bothersome shells, the Melting Snowfall Dragonet's attention is caught by a group of boys and girls who stand nervously nearby him. For a moment he hesitates, the first time since he cracked his shell. Taelenna clambers down Vallith's side to the ground, as the dragon rumbles softly. Tika grins from Terri to Leya and nods. "Oh, but /we/ remember when they were that small, eh? very cute little darlings, they were.." On the sands, Denali sighs a bit and then grins comfortingly at the brown. Thamath snorts. S'more nods to Tika. "Zakath was smaller'n me for....ten candlemarks? Fifteen?" On the sands, Rhaine folds her hands behind her back, and rocks back and forth on her heels, eyes rounded, if not tired, as she watches the brown's progress. On the sands, Jehran looks at the brown thoughtfully for a moment before answering, "I think it's partly because of the way he holds himself, Halam. That and the noise he makes," he says, smiling briefly, "It's like he takes up more room than he should." Kaylira watches the young brown anxiously, barely taking note of the other dragonets beyond the obligatory scribble. "I think maybe he's nay sure who he wants," she confides to the other Telgar folk. Terrilia watches closely again, making little scooting motions with her hand toward Jehran. On the sands, Halam smiles as the brown finally stops his trip across the sands. "I think your right Jehran." On the sands, Celis shuffles her feet in the sands and watches closely. Sweat runs down her back, leaving a streak of robe wet. "I wonder who he'll pick.." On the sands, Saruh fluffs her robe, trying to cool off some and manages to do just that, bringing on gooseflesh. She peers at the brown, wonderingly. "Now what's got him confused?" Leya smiles and gets misty eyed for a few moments as she gazes up at Tovith. "Yes, he was perfectly adorable. Just perfect." Then she laughs, "Still is." On the sands, Moments after breaking shell, it is obvious that this pale blue dragonet possesses a natural grace. Making his way much more steadily than his clutchmates, he pauses in front of an haughty blond boy from Gar and her neighbor, the mute stablegirl from Keroon. The crushed look on the boy's face speaks louder than words of his disappointment that the stablegirl Impressed the blue hatchling. I'sai studies Jehran for a long moment, before replying, "He must be... mustn't he? Just getting there. Hard enough for someone just born." On the sands, Denali giggles, "He's cute, even if he is confused.." Alane leans forward eagerly. "Choose already...picky brown." Cellia nods at Alane, sighing. "He has to make up his mind sometime." On the sands, :The Melting Snowfall Dragonet seems to take -forever- to consider what to do next. But when he makes up his mind, he doesn't hesitate any longer. THAT one there will give him the care and attention he needs as well as the respect he deserves! He tries another BUGLE to let that one know he's there! Oh well. Someday. K'nder chuckles. "Alane, browns are picky, till they find the best." he winks up at Choloth. On the sands, The Melting Snowfall Brown Dragonet stares deeply into Halam's eyes. Choloth obligingly whuffles K'nder's hair. K'nder says "YES! Halam! All right!" Cellia claps, cheering loudly Halam's name. Alane grins as Quinaeth gives Choloth a curious look. On the sands, Denali grins, "Congratulations Halam! I'd hug you, but, um, VSC.." Riell hollers out and jumps.."He did it.." On the sands, Celis grins at Halam as he impresses the brown "Congratulatios Halam!" Julanna pokes Tika, giving her a quizzical look. "Very cute darlings? They were precious to us, but Miraeth was chomping on raw meat from the start. I doubt many would have agreed to 'cute' when they had their first meals!" On the sands, Rhaine smiles quietly at Halam. "Congratulations!" she calls, glancing over at the Weyrleaders. On the sands, Josira leans against Br'mar, eyes shining happily. Terrilia gives one disappointed sigh, for Jehran, then smiles. "Halam. Congratulations." Cellia grins over at Alane. "He was thanking K'nder for the compliment." Alane waves to the ledges in general. "Good to see you all, Thanks for coming. There's food in the cavern if you care to stay." Leya grins as the brown hatchling makes his choices, "Ah, he's a lucky one." On the sands, Br'mar lets out a little sigh again and smiles at Josira. K'nder reaches up to give Choloth a good scritching, then kisses Cellia's cheek for good measure. "Brownriders too." On the sands, Jehran takes two steps back as soon as he sees the familiar expression on Halam's face. "Congratulations, Halam," he says quietly, knowing the other is probably too distracted to notice. Tika claps for Halam, though she looks a might bit sad. "I thought for sure Jehran.. hey!" she looks over as she's poked, and grins. "They were cute even when they did that, Juls... Jin was at least..." I'sai breaks off from a scarf-muffled yawn to applaud for this stranger too, murmuring an apologetic, "Lugged supplies and such around all today." On the sands, Adela nudges her sidekick throughout the hatching, Owen, towards the remaining candidates. The lanky boy lopes slowly towards them, whether cautious or simply taking his time is unclear. Taking two steps for his every one, Adela keeps a quick pace until they reach the remaining candidates. On the sands, Saruh sighs in relief. "All right! He made up his mind and did it well, too." A smile and clapping of hands she produces. "Congratulations, Halam!" On the sands, Laurelin smiles wistfully. It's over all too soon. She turns her glance to the ones left on the sands. Alane says "I'm going to go see my candies, the ones that are left..." Alane is helped up by a thoughtfully placed forelimb. Quinaeth launches off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Kazeth rumbles unhappily, and Schmitt chuckles. "Already over? Greedy lug." On the sands, Rhaine stands, her head held high. She merely nods to the Weyrleaders, and awaits her dismissal. Bessa nudges Cleosia. "That was wonderful." She says breathly. "Oh my! I'll remember this for awhile." Al'ric mutters as he turns from the sands, "Time to go find a wineskin and a quiet place down south," as he reaches for Tiganath's straps. Tella raises her brows as she stands, "My that was interesting." She stretches. Cellia turns a bit, resting her head on K'nder's chest. "It's over so quickly..." On the sands, Halam waves to the stablehand as she impresses and suddenly his eyes are filled with....browm "Huh What Me? You want me Llanarth? Are you sure" Halam asks in a stuned voice? K'nder nods.. "Yes, and now we have the pitter patter of weyrling feet for another turn, and the creeling of hungry baby dragons." On the sands, Denali looks sadly at the shatters of the Tillek Egg, eyes dark. But then she shrugs, "Back to the SeaCraft.." She whispers. On the sands, S'din smiles widely and steps over, "Congratulations, H'am and Llanarth!" He squeezes the youngster's shoulders and half-directs, half-lifts him toward the passgeway, "This way, now..." Trine looks meditative before she stands and looks for Jesica On the sands, Celis grips Rhaine's hand, and twitches her lips sideways. She's too proper to cry, even if she never shows her upbringing in many other ways. Terrilia sighs, stands, and stretches. "That's all?" She asks, but knows it's over. She gives one last, lingering smile toward the weyrling barracks. S'more wows. "So that's it, huh?" He glances down at Denali, a slight frown playing over his features. Telgar Weyr> Leya says, "H'am!!!" Telgar Weyr> I'sai says, "He's such a..." Riell turns and hugs Jesica "Llanarth!" Telgar Weyr> Aurian says, "Not on the knot!" On the sands, Jehran folds his arms across his chest as he surveys the empty eggshells that are strewn all over the Sands. He shakes his head rather regretfully, but doesn't otherwise seem in the grip of any strong emotion. Taking a few steps forward, he pats Celis and Rhaine on the shoulders, and says, "Next time, I guess." Tika sends a small, sad smile down to the left-over candidates, knowing all too well what they're feeling. But then she smiles. "I'm definitely going to have to come bug Divya when they can see people.." Bessa climbs to her feet and looks aroud for others she knows. She looks down at Cleosia. "Come on.. We can get back to Ista and grab a bite to eat. .All that excitment made me hungery!" K'nder nods to Cellia. "Want to head down?" On the sands, H'am pats Llanarth and heads him for the exit. "Come on we will get you some food On the sands, Saruh shakes her head, smiling. "I'll miss all of them." she says to Denali. S'more sighs, "And poor Jehran....at this rate, he's never gonna wanna *look* at another dragon." Tani looks towards Terrilia... "so.. whats your plans?" On the sands, S'din looks around and, seeing no more pairs to escort off the sands, he steps into the passageway himself. T'quinn sighs wistfully and lets forth a cheer, as well as a sad gaze towards those left behind. Cellia nods, looking up at K'nder. "Let's go... I feel like I want some klah." Trine watches the candidates that have not impressed and her face is lined with worry. K'nder grins. "Sounds good." Schmitt scrambles up and onto her dragon, cheerful but tired. I'sai glances sideways S'more's way, then spends several long moments 'ironing' the scarf-end between his fingers before looping it back over its owner's shoulder. Schmitt settles herself atop Kazeth, so quickly it seems she went straight from the ground to her position where she sits now, fastening her straps. On the sands, Celis smiles at Jehran and reaches out for his hand with her other. "Yeah.. Next time." Leya looks down sadly at the candidates, then shares a sad smile with Tika. "It's so hard though when you don't impress..." she murmurs. S'more waves to Schmitt. "See you back at the Weyr?" K'nder leaps up Kerilinth and settles into place between her neckridges. Tella lets her eyes linger on the few candidates left with a frown. Muttering, "I hope I'm not left.." Looking around, she searches for the rider who brought her. Cellia glances over at the Igen brigade, giving a wave before she heads for Choloth. Kaylira, rather than cheering this Impression, actually watches with quiet wistfulness for a moment. "Someday," she murmurs, with quiet determination, "that's going t'be *me* down there, with a brown." Shaking out of her trance, she passes over the much-scribbled and generally illegible hide to V'dan. "There you go, Uncle V'dan," she says, more brightly. "Just go collect and bring Mum her marks and all will be well." V'dan, of course, takes one look at this mess and blanches. Kerilinth rises up off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, she swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Cellia takes hold of the well-oiled straps and climbs onto Choloth's back, with the aid of a helpful foreleg. Choloth rumbles pleasantly and cranes his neck back to look at Cellia. Terrilia sighs, looking up to nod at S'more. "I thought for sure he'd Impress this time." She shakes her head, then looks at Tani. "Well, I'm feeling tired. I'll probably go back. With the time difference, it's awfully late. If you want to stay, though, I'm sure someone will bring you back." Choloth rises up off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. From atop Kazeth, Schmitt grins. "Unless I decide to go visit Belior, sure - Hey, Tika, want to come pick up your duck?" Miran steps lightly upon Hanneth's forearm and vaults to her seat between her lifemate's first two ridges, swinging up easily. Hanneth rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, she swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Dyrik still stands, staring down at the sands, his face thoughtful...very thoughtful. On the sands, Denali doesn't even manage a smile for Saruh, and large lump in her throat as she makes impatient swipes with the white sleeve of her robe. She looks at it with disgust, "Don't think I'll ever need this again.." S'more grins, "Thinking of visiting Belior? Isn't that a tad far?" N'ren grins, "Anyway, Aurian. There's someone I want to introduce you to." Cenica straightens and stretches slowly, looking rather dazedly about. Tika nods to Leya, then brightens when she heads Schmitt. "Oh yeah! I'll be right there!" Tani hmms... "Lets go. On the sands, Laurelin moves over to where the others are standing, and gestures for them to gather near her. "Everyone, please." Cleosia looks out on the sands, a cross of wonderment and a frown creating a very unusual look on her face... Tella crosses her arms as she can't find the rider who brought her. Terrilia nods, covering a yawn. Terrilia nimbly climbs up between her lifemate's neckridges as Cyameth rumbles happily and helpfully offers a foreleg. From atop Kazeth, Schmitt calls over to I'sai, "Seen Anra? She can pick her duckling up, too, any time." Aurian glances from the sands towards N'ren, Of course?" She grins brightly. On the sands, Rhaine wanders over, tight lipped and nose still in the air. She's obviously doing her best to cloak her emotions. Tani climbs up onto Cyameth with help from both Terrilia and her lifemate, who extends his foreleg. On the sands, Celis trails along after Rhaine. T'en claps a hand against Rafeith's leg. "Aye," he tells the bronze. "It was well done, you're right." On the sands, Saruh turns towards the leaders, her eyes downcast. She moves closer to the weyrwoman. I'sai blinks up with a nearly-pre-verbal, "Huh?" Bessa follows Cleosia's look down at the sands. "Oh... " She says softly. On the sands, Jehran heads over as directed by Laurelin, and says mildly, "I think it's time for that cold drink you were teasing me about earlier, Rhaine." He smiles at her, obviously trying to cheer her up. On the sands, Adela moves closer to Laurelin, reaching to the nape of her neck to untie her braid as she listens. The young woman looks undisturbed with results, shadowed by a much more sullen looking Owen. Most of Leya's good cheer comes back though as she thinks of those who did impress. She absently pokes her scarf back into place. "So, what do you want to do know, Is?" From atop Kazeth, "Duck. Anra. Doom. Remember, I'sai?" Schmitt blinks. On the sands, Denali is the last to fallow, scuffing her toes in the sand and trying hard to be dignified. D'len climbs up to Thamath's neck with the help of a proferred leg. Soon, D'len disappears from view in the heights of the dragon. BR> Terrilia buckles herself into the straps. On the sands, Laurelin's face is thoughtful, sad, proud, as she smiles at the assembled candidates. "I just want you to know, that just because you didn't Impress at this hatching, doesn't mean that you won't get another chance someday. The dragons see something very special in you, and that is something very important." Tika reaches Jinryth's side. She rubs his shoulder gently before stepping onto his forearm and springing with practiced ease onto his back. N'ren nods, leading the way. He stops to tap K'nder on the shoulder, "Long time no see, old man." S'more hmms and climbs over Zakath's leg toward the familiar straps. Kaylira calls over, "Hatching's over, Uncle Is! Time to collect your marks and go home!" Sliding down from Chymeth's leg, she threads her way over to Aurian. "Aunt Auri, could I ride back with you? Uncle V'dan's got to stay and get Mum's marks." Tani buckles in S'more grabs securely onto the riding straps and swings gracefully up on Zakath's neck. From Zakath's neckridge, ...followed by a fluffy brown duckling Terrilia looks over at Schmitt, Tika, and S'more. "Heading back?" I'sai says a too-quick, "Right, right, I'll tell her." Whatever it is. "I'll be sure to tell her. Soon. ...Do now? Uh. Hm. But I don't have any marks to collect." Leya just stares at Schmitt and mutters something that contains the word, 'strange'. From Zakath's neckridge, S'more nods, "Aye....I'd like to say a few words to Denali and Jehran, first, if I can manage, though." On the sands, Cadet swoops down towards Celis. From atop Kazeth, Schmitt sighs, "Anra, and her duckling. Remember? You were there. She chose a duckling." Aurian glances towards her so-called niece, one of the many roaming about Telgar, "Sure love soon as I get done with N'ren and every body.. you can go and show Kvasith your chart.." On the sands, Rhaine nods to Laurelin, and spies a rider waving up in the galleries. "Can we go now, ma'am?" Cleosia turns to Bessa, "That...was incredible...." Terrilia nods. "All right. Pass my greeting along to Jehran, if you would. I'm about to fall over." Trine casts a worried glance at Cleosia and Bessa. Taelenna tears her gaze from the emptied Sands so she doesn't have to watch the disappointed Candidates, looking in T'en's direction. "Well? What did you think?" she asks the bronzerider next to her. On the sands, Laurelin smiles as she goes on. "We also see something special in all of you. And while I know that some of you might be eager to return to your homes, I hope you'll consider making your homes at High Reaches, those of you who don't already live here." She looks at them all. "Those of you who live here, I hope will stay too, and not be too discouraged." On Zakath's neck, S'more nods and gives a wave just before Zakath springs aloft. Jesica climbs up onto Trisseth's back with a gentle boost from the green dragon. On the sands, Br'mar counts on his fingers for a few moments and smiles at Josira. "Three bronze, five brown, 12 blues and 15 greens. A wonderful clutch." He gives his weyrmate a hug and then wipes a bit of sweat from his forehead. Julanna stands casually leaning, back to Miraeth. She says to Terrilia, "You're heading straight back?" Bessa nods to Cleosia nods "I agree! Though... I wish they all could have impressed, seems unfair." Kaylira has to pause to parse this one. Not having marks to collect after a Hatching seems beyond her normal range of comprehension. "Well, then, you just go home, I guess," she decides. "Or something. Nay marks to collect? Really?" She bobs her head to Aurian then. "Gave the chart to Uncle V'dan, Aunt Auri, so he can use it." Never mind that he probably can't even *read* it. Zakath rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Trine follows Jesica Trine climbs up onto Trisseth's back with a gentle boost from the green dragon. On the sands, Saruh shifts from foot to foot as she listens, her discomfort growing. Mounted on Trisseth, Jesica hops up on Trisseth, "Come Trine, it's time to head back." T'en's gaze drifts back from the sands below, and toward Taelenna. "Mmn? Oh. Ah. No, it went well, I think." Brow furrowed, he asks, "Didn't it? You think?" On the sands, Betet begins to voice everything the Standing aren't. Sharp whistles and mournful cheeps fill in the silence. Terrilia nods, yawning, to Julanna. "Got to. Feels like it's almost dawn." Tella puts her hands at her side with a frown as she glances around. On the sands, Laurelin nods to Rhaine. "You can. There will be food and drink in the Living Cavern for everyone, and you are all excused from all duties for a sevenday. Thank you, and I hope that you'll think about what I said. I'd like it very much." Trisseth rises up off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, she swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Dyrik climbs up behind on the dragon of the Istan rider he rode in with, and they go back to Ista. Cleosia nods, "I know..." Taelenna nods her head quickly. "I thought it went /very/ well," she tells T'en. "I'm so happy that Divya Impressed. D'va must be overjoyed." She studies him, and his furrowed brow, carefully as she smoothes her skirts. On the sands, Rhaine smiles, and waves as she takes off. "Coming Celis?" On the sands, Rhaine heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries. On the sands, "And thank you, Weyrwoman. For everything," says Jehran in reply, his gaze held steady. On the sands, Celis nods and trails out after Rhaine, looking glazed. On the sands, Celis heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries. I'sai follows up, "Really, no marks. None. Remember, I got here late, and the thought of sleep... What do you want to do, Leya? If you go down to see Jehran, want to, I don't know, say something good for me? I'll track him down when I'm more awake." On the sands, Denali grits her teeth against screaming at the woman and then manages in a somewhat unvehnemis tone, "I'd just liket to go home.." Kvasith mantles his wings as he watches his rider. Kazeth croons over at the accumulated dragons, then turns to launch himself back towards home. Terrilia yawns again and waves to Julanna. "Right. Are you coming too?" Aurian pushes her hands through her hair. Cenica looks around, noting all of Ista's Candidates and visitors who were brought, then glances around again to see who is here to take them home. She asks after a moment, "Okay...who needs a ride back to Ista?" On the sands, Saruh smiles to Laurelin. "Thank you for everything, Ma'am. But I do need to find the neccessary soon." Kaylira shakes her head in bewilderment. "You're crazy, Uncle Is." No marks counts as crazy to her. Bessa sighs softly. "But it seems to be how it's done. .I hope some of our friend are not left like that." She looks towards the dragons. "We should find a ride home." Kazeth rises up off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Mounted in front, between Jinryth's neckridges, Tika waves, "I'm heading back to Igen!" she calls. "Meet you at your weyr Schmitt!" On the sands, Laurelin nods to the assembled and chuckles softly at Saruh. "You can all go, of course you can." Cleosia stands and stretches, turning to Cenica, "I do ma'am!" "Always have been," Uncle Is says cheerfully. "Maybe you can talk me out of it, but it's got to wait till later." Jinryth rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. N'ren mms, "We'll come back to bug K'nder." He leads the way, heading for a certain High Reaches bronzerider. "T'en," he says. Tella glances over to Cenicam her lips raising in smile. "Home being Ista, I take it. I need a ride back.." Terrilia waves again and follows Tika and Schmitt. Cyameth springs powerfully off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. On the sands, Jehran smiles, looking relieved, and quips, "Don't misinterpret my eagerness to leave, here, but my feet are turning into cinders!" With that, he hastens towards the exit. On the sands, Jehran heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries. Aurian chuckles as she follows her much taller mentor. She slides her hands into her pockes as she watches the area. Leya frowns as the thinks, then a yawn decides her, "No, I think I'll follow you if you're going back. Jehan and the other weyrlings are busy with their dragonets no doubt." Bessa nods to Cenica and smiles. "If you can handle another. On the sands, Saruh follows Jehran with undecorous haste. Kaylira agrees amiably enough, "Okay, Non-Lecherous Uncle Is. Clear skies and sleep well and other such stuff." On the sands, Saruh heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries. T'en nods again. "He should be. He deserves to be. She'll do well, if her skill as a harper's any proof." He looks over Taelenna's head toward N'ren and Aurian, then straightens, like an afterthought. "Sir. Ma'am," he adds, for Aurian's sake. On the sands, Denali takes direct course for the bowl, murmuring under her breath. On the sands, Denali heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries. Taelenna looks over her shoulder to see who T'en is looking at, and quickly steps to the side upon finding N'ren and Aurian behind her. "Excuse me," she murmurs, glancing back and forth between T'en and the two other riders. Leya smiles up at Tovith, "Hatchings always make me realize how very special Tovith is and how lucky I am that he is mine." I'sai mentions teasingly, tiredly, "You don't have to grant me so many of my titles; we're casual tonight, I think. But good night in any case." He smiles to the girl, and then nods Leya's way. "Likely. Likely. And none too coherent, if I recall... You'll get to find them later, I've no doubt." Riell hops up onto Gezilth's back, as the dragon warbles a greeting. Julanna crosses her arms at her chest and says to Terrilia, "I should try and find Jehran, but he's probably mobbed. I'll come back bright and early." Her attention's caught by Miraeth, though, and she turns around to head over towards N'ren and his small knot of people, curiosity evident. N'ren blinks, "I'm just a rider, T'en. 'Sir' isn't something you would call me. Especially since you rank me." He looks back at Aurian, then indicates T'en, "Aurian, meet T'en. My son." Cenica nods, "We should be able to handle you just fine. It may be a bit pinched, though." Leya nods to I'sai, "Yes, they'll probably be more rested later." On the sands, Adela quietly slips away in a group of other candidates, but there's a lightness to her step and a small secretive smile on her face in contrast to many of her peers. On the sands, Laurelin watches the others leave and stands there for a moment looking at the empty egg shells. Tella nods, stepping over towards Cenica. On Gezilth, Riell straps herself in and then waves as Gezilth launches into the air./FONT> Gezilth rises up off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, she swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Aurian grins brightly, "Well met T'en. I arrived seconds after your impression the last time I managed to make it to a High Reaches hatching.." She offers a hand, "I see you've done quite well for yourself since then. And please I'm not much for Ma'am, Wingsecond." Kaylira grins at I'sai, and nods, saying nothing but instead offering a wave before skipping back over towards Kvasith and the edge of the ledges. Plunking herself down, she tucks her knees up under her chin. "Mayhaps I could paint you orange, Kvasith," she offers to the dragon. "Then you'd be seductive and you could have baby browns of your own." T'en summons up a lopsided smile. "It didn't have anything to do with ... nevermind." He ducks his head toward Aurian again, and clasps her hand briefly. "Then you have my apologies, too. Aurian," he amends, before looking up at N'ren again. He retrieves his hand, and gestures toward Taelenna. "You've met my wingleader, hey? Taelenna, this is Aurian, and N'ren." Kvasith snorts at the idea of being orange. He does have some ego that he did get from his bronze sire. Can you imagine. Him brown. Rahth straightens up, then arranges himself to be mounted. Cenica steps onto Rahth's proffered foreleg, takes hold of his riding straps and climbs up, settling between his ridges. Taralyth sidles forward, now that some of the other dragons have cleared the ledges, and bumps his rider's shoulder with his muzzle; after returning the wave I'sai just leans against his lifemate for a long moment, and then starts climbing up. I'sai swings up to Taralyth's neck. Tella walks over to Ranth and looks to Cenica, "May I....?" From Rahth's back, Cenica nods, and reaches down to give Tella a hand up. Tovith waits for Taralyth to give him room, then he extends his leg for his rider to climb up on. Leya uses Tovith's leg to climb up, then sits between his neckridges. N'ren turns as Julanna approaches, and smiles. "And, Julanna, Miraeth's rider, let me introduce Aurian, Kvasith's rider, Dawnslight Wingleader at Telgar, and my most recent formal mentee, just before I left Telgar. And T'en, Rafeith's rider, Blizzard Wingsecond here at High Reaches. And one of my children." He grins playfully down at T'en, "See, I'm allowed to preen. One of my boys Impressed Bronze." Tella steps onto Rahth's proffered foreleg, takes hold of his riding straps and climbs up, settling between his ridges. Taralyth has to wheel on his haunches to do so, but then he's well out of the way, waiting for Tovith's rider in her dress to make it all the way up - and then she does and he warbles, particularly to those of High Reaches, and leaps into flight. Taralyth leaps off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Taelenna is hardly paying attention, which must look just wonderful for her. What a figure of authority. Her gaze drifts aimlessly from dragonrider to rider, until she hears her name -- "Hmm? T'en? Oh." A bit sheepishly, she smiles at Aurian and N'ren, "Well met." A brief smile includes the newly-arrived Julanna in her greeting. From Rahth's back, Tella ajusts her dress about her and buckles herself in. From Rahth's back, Cenica turns and smiles at Tella, "You look like you've done this a lot." From Rahth's back, Cenica quickly buckles herself into Rahth's straps. Kaylira gives Kvasith her most hopeful look. "It'd look really neat, Kvasith, honest. And all the greens and golds would be all *over* you." Lowering her voice to a not-quite-whisper, she adds, "I once overheard Uncle L'cher saying he never failed with the women when he wore his orange underpants. It'd *work*, see?" From Rahth's back, Tella chuckles, "I've learned to do it." Tovith rumbles to those still on the ledges, then follows his bronze clutchmate into the air, while Leya does her best not to wrinkle her dress atop him. Aurian smirks at N'ren, "You can be quite proud sometimes." She glances back towards Taelenna, "Well met Wingleader.." Her eyes drift towards Julanna, "And well met to you as well.." She grins tucking some of her hair out of her eyes. Tovith rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. Kvasith blinks at the weyrbrat. He does look paler than usual if a brown can possibly fade... T'quinn clambers up Vtanth's proffered foreleg and settles between his neckridges. Vtanth rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. From Rahth's back, Cenica faces front again, and warns, "Hang on..." Rahth rises effortlessly off of the ledge and into the air. Crossing the cavern, he swoops into the tunnel, leaving the hatching grounds. T'en may not match N'ren's height, but he can certainly stand up straight. Julanna gets a "Well met," from him as well. "I'm glad you could make it over," is directed at the trio, though his attention goes back to N'ren. "It's good to see you again." Kaylira reaches out to try and pat the nearest portion of brown hide reassuringly. "I'll get Lysseth to let me paint *her* orange. That'll show you I'm right, and then we can make you an orange studmuffin too." She pauses, and frowns thoughtfully. "Whatever a studmuffin is." Julanna hastens to agree. "Not the first time N'ren's spoken of you," she confides to T'en. "He likes to preen." Then, more formally, "Well met, Aurian, T'en. I feel as if I should be 'Ma'am' and 'Sir'ing you both, but that doesn't seem to be too popular. It isn't everyday I'm surrounded by Wingleaders and Wingseconds, however. I think I should be taking notes! It's good to meet you both." "And you, son," N'ren says. "Have you spoken to your mother lately, by the way? How is she doing?" T'en's pretty much one of the few who does almost match his height, and so the brownrider doesn't need to get too much of a crick in his neck. Not that it isn't a good excuse for getting neckrubs. "And well met to you as well, Taelenna. I apologize for distracting your Wingsecond." Taelenna shakes her head briefly at N'ren. "He's off-duty," she replies, with a smile to show she's kidding. Aurian chuckles at Julanna, "Oh please.." She's flattered though. She glances back to the others, enjoything this for sure. Nice not to have to worry about the wing for now. T'en grins and tells Julanna, "Catch me in a different situation, and the sir'd be appreciated. Here and now, there's no need, hey?" Then N'ren's answered with a nod. "We write, now and then, and I get down Ista way when I can. They had the Gather a while back. And she's well. Enjoying having the weyr to herself, I think." N'ren hms, "We've sort of fallen out of contact. All the moving around, I think, and I don't visit Ista too often, since it's too wet." He shrugs. "In any case, we should probably head down to get some food, or to various places. I swear, Hatchings are plenty exciting, but with all the yelling, I end up with a pounding head every time." On the sands, Laurelin moves slowly towards the passageway, kicking the sand a little as she lingers. On the sands, Laurelin blinks out of her reverie and looks up. T'en blinks. "Sorry if I've kept you, then. Please, there should be plenty of food down in the LC. You're welcome to it. And I'll nudge her to send a letter or summat your way, Da. No reason why she can't go visiting sometime. Might do her good to go out-weyr." N'ren waves that off. "I was just making conversation." Julanna lets a smile turn the corners of her mouth. "Weyrling training drilled the need for constant saluting and addressing every rider we came into contact with as sir or ma'am. Truth be told, it's harder for me now to call people by their given names." Turning to N'ren, "Aye. We've been up on the ledge for hours. I wouldn't object to a change in scenery. Might just head back, though." On the sands, Laurelin blinks again, and looks back at the mound, and the dragons nearby. She seems to consider it a few moments. "I'm not sure it's such a wise idea..." she says, then hesitates. "Is there something I can get for you maybe?" Aurian chuckles and reaches up to kiss N'ren's cheek, "I have to head back to the weyr. Return Kassima's daughter and all that.." She goes back down, "I'll come by with Aumaylia to that sweltery place you call a weyr.." She winks to her mentor. N'ren comments, "Igen is not sweltery. It's sweaty. Sometimes more than others." Nope, he doesn't look at Julanna at that comment. T'en ahhs, and nods, then glances over at Taelenna. "Did you want to head down? Congratulate the weyrlings?" Aurian arches an eyebrow for a moment then she grins to the others, "It was lovely meeting you all. Clear skies.." She bobs her head and then starts towards Kaylira and Kvasith, "Kaylira.. why are you scaring my dragon?" On the sands, Laurelin considers, and suddenly smiles warmly at the young woman, her own tired face breaking easily into a grin. "Why don't you come down and choose for yourself?" She gestures to the dragons with one hand. "Just don't go too close, they are both very tired. You should be okay with me here." Kaylira blinks and gets to her feet, widening her grey eyes to peer up at Aurian with utmost innocence. "Scaring Kvasith, Aunt Auri? I wouldn't do that. 'Twas just telling him how, if he let me paint him orange, he'd be a studmuffin. That's all!" Taelenna shakes her head at T'en, seeming distracted. "I'll be down there in a little while. Go ahead, though -- give them my regards, please." On the sands, Laurelin chuckles to herself. N'ren smirks, "Not so off-duty anymore." His eye twinkles merrily. Aurian scoops up the little, "Paint Lysseth.. keep your naughty brushes away from my perfectly hued brown dragon.." She starts up her straps. Aurian pulls herself up onto Kvasith, carefully. Her fingers grip at the straps as she eases herself onto his back. Aurian has left. Julanna merely rolls her eyes skyward. Apparently she's used to comments of that nature finding their way out of N'ren's mouth. "Anyway," she says, moving over to where Miraeth crouches, "It was good to meet you all. Have a wonderful night. N'ren -- " she addresses the brownrider even while pulling herself up to settle between green neckridges, "Hopefully I can help with that headache. But I'd heading home." Julanna grabs hold of Miraeth's straps and swings up to settle between the green's neckridges with practiced ease. Aurian tosses a wave towards the remaining riders and then grins. T'en grins up at N'ren again. "No, I guess not." He nods toward Taelenna then. "I will." On the sands, Nyne comes down a short flight of steps from the galleries. "If Lysseth's a studmuffin when she's orange, Aunt Auri, would you let me paint Kvasith then?" Kaylira wants to know, stifling a yawn as she buckles herself into place. With a wave of her own, she calls down, "Duties! Clear skies! Stuff like that!" On the sands, Laurelin smiles at the girl. On the sands, Nyne slips in with a glare for the gallery and a careful glance toward the tired dragons. On the sands, Laurelin says "Here, take my hand, there's nothing to be afraid of. The sands are very hot though, are your feet okay?" Kaylira bobs her head to Aurian then. "Aye, Aunt Auri." On the sands, Nyne nods, "I have pretty good boots." She takes Laurelin's hand and smiles. N'ren nods, "I'll be along, soon enough, Julanna." On the sands, Laurelin nods. "Okay, be careful though." She sets out towards the egg mound, keeping a reassuring smile for the dragons nearby. "We'll just go to the edge." On the sands, Laurelin says "Both of them are in a -very- good mood." |
