''The Snowasis is rarely quiet, and even then, the high-ceilinged former weyr is kept from echoing by the fantastical booths tucked into its convoluted perimeter. The secluded seating spaces have been shaped from the truncated stalagmites that escaped the smoothing of the main floor, and are both softened and separated by colorful hangings that are thick and opaque enough to make each corner its own private nook.''

''Some of the smaller stalactites still roam the ceiling, their jagged teeth tracing a bumpy, inverted spine to the hearth. There, a thick rug with a low klah table and comfortable armchairs and couches sit, their upholstery and cushions changed sporadically to match the season: bright, light colors in the summer, fresh greens and yellows in the spring, warm autumnals in fall, and clear, rich hues for winter. Small tables litter the rest of the cavern, enough to fit up to four people each, while stools stand along the smooth wooden bar behind which is the passthrough window to the kitchen. Glass-paneled cabinetry behind the bar provides a clear view of the available liquors, the many colors reflecting the soft light of glows tucked into strategic niches around the cavern.''

She's in the Snowasis late tonight, propped up in a corner upon her chosen seat at chosen table for two, her boots crossed at ankles on the floor before her. Upon the table lies the remnants of two dead soldiers, their contents drained until nothing but whiskey fumes are left. She's on her third drink, the lowball glass in hand, and Alida looks pretty mellow, though still alert enough to flick her quiet gaze about, on occasion. Upon other occasion, her free hand's fingers absently play with the end of her braid, which lies unbound and brushing the tops of her thighs.

Although not typically found in the Snowasis, N'ky slips through the doors into the bar, snow flecking his shoulders, full - and wet-looking - riding gear still worn - including his extra-long scarf, wound tightly twice around his neck with the ends trailing down almost to his knees. Helment, goggles and gloves are peeled off as he nudges his way past folks to get to the bar, where he gets a drink that's even more unusual for him - a double of something golden-coloured. He downs it at the bar, knocking it back with the cough and spluttering of someone unused to such strong drinks, then chases it up with a sip of klah from the second drink in front of him. Only then does he turn around to actually survey his surroundings, the overtly-blonde hair of one particular bluerider standing out. A little woozily, he meanders over to her table, klah in hand, and gently clears his throat. "'Lida." It's a little husky-sounding; either the whisky's effecting his voice, or he's getting a touch of a sore throat.

Blink. It's unusual to find him in here, and as such, when she spots that tall, gangling greenie pacing over to her table, Alida focuses in acutely upon N'ky, as if assessing him for hidden somethings-or-others. The huskiness of her fellow weyrling's voice brings forth a mellow, though still crisp and clear, "Yer not pickin' up the same shit Waki's gettin' over, are ya'?" Because if he is...plague bearer!

"N-no." N'ky shakes his head. "My throat's a b-bit sore, is all. A-and I'm ''cold''." Which probably comes hand in hand with the whole sodden clothing look. "And I, um, h-had whisky." He puts his klah mug down on the table decisively, frowning at it for a second before slipping into the seat next to it. "A-and I'm going to s-sit here."

"Taggin' along with a rider?" Alida inquires, lifting her chin to indicate the chair across from her, even as N'ky makes his statement and sits his ass down there, anyway. She won't inquire as to the reasons (or lack of them) why the greenie's knocked one back, the bluie instead taking another metered sip of her own potent potable.

N'ky rests his elbows on the table, drooping over them with his head hung low enough for him to inhale the steam from his klah. "W-we went to Tillek," he says, both to answer her question and to explain... other things not asked, perhaps. "It's ''r-raining'' there." One hand runs through his curls, knotting in tight at his crown. Fingers wrap around his klah mug, pulling it towards him so he can raise it to take a lazy sip, followed by, "I th-think I, um, w-want another shot. D-do you you want a shot?" So says the weyrling who never drinks.

She observes him peripherally, but even indirectly, Alida knows enough of N'ky's habits to fixate not only on his stuttering, but the grappling at his hair. "How 'bout a Seven-n-seven fer both uv us? Whiskey 'n lemon-lime soda water. Good stuff," the woman clips off easily, then lifting her glass for another sip of her straight whiskey. "What's eatin' ya, Nick?" The direct, yet almost casual inquiry is just like her.

"A wh-what?" N'ky frowns hazily at Alida, not so sure about the proposed drink. "I want s-something hot. C-can they do that hot?" He chews on his lip, peering up at Alida and shaking his head in response to her second question. "N-nothing. Why? D-do I... um..." As if suddenly conscious of his hand in his hair, he quickly drops it back to the table top, drumming his fingers against the wood not quite anxiously, but /twitchily/. "N-nothing's wrong. A-are you ok?"

"Dunno' why they call it that, but that's it's name," Alida murmurs of her proposed drink. At N'ky's words of wanting something hot, the guard bobs her head, then sits up and forward. "Hot toddy...which I also never found out the reason for its naming..." she murmurs, then proceding to pour half the contents of her more than 3/4s full glass into the greenrider's klah. "That'll ease yer woes a bit." Sitting back again, the woman's greens lock with her buddy's browns, even as she emits a low, easy, "Runner shit. Yer givin' off a boat load uv' signals." Sip. "Out with it." A small lofting of one brow at his inquiry earns the greenie a mellow, "Nice 'n warm, yeah." Grin.

When Alida pours her drink into his, N'ky starts to protest... but it's feeble. He accepts it with a grateful smile, then does everything he can to avoid her gaze. Both hands wrap around his mug, and he draws it to him, raising it to be half-poised before his lips, ready to be drunk from. "'s'nothing ''wrong''," he says, slurring just a ''little''; he's not used to drinking so much, especially not a double shot as he just did. "C-can you come sit beside me, i-if you're warm? I'm still ''c-cold''. After sipping from the spiked klah, he raises his hand to catch the attention of someone who'll bring them more drinks - though he gestures to Alida when the girl gets to their table, inviting her to order for them.

"Tastes decent, but sip it slow..." Alida informs N'ky of his hot toddy, the blonde grinning softly at the sound of his slight slurring. A strange, assessing look is given to her wingmate at his inquiry, but after a few moments for thought the woman shrugs slightly, and jerks her chin at her side in silent offers for him to pull his chair over by hers. To the server: "Seven-n-seven fer me, Bomber shooter fer him." And once the girl departs, Alida murmurs again to her drinking companion, "Ain't gonna ask it again, since 'tis yer perogative ta' keep yer life t'yerself." Her own words aren't alcohol-slurred, but they're a bit less crisp than usual. "What's wrong?"

And scoot over N'ky does, scraping his chair along the floor as he attempts to do so without standing up. He pulls in as close as he can get, then holds up one finger to wiggle it at Alida, asking her to wait. Then he shrugs off his damp riding jacket, unwraps his scarf, and leans in towards the bluerider, shoulder to... well, her shoulder to his bicep. "You ''are'' w-warm," he coos in soft appreciation, cradling his mug in his hands in front of him. Silence reigns for a moment, and then he comes out with it. A ''bit'' of it, anyway... if it's even the ''real'' 'it' that's bothering him. "D-Darcielth c-caught a green. April's s-still with her r-rider... sh-she didn't come back yet."

She even lightly lays one arm around N'ky's shoulders for a bit, the heat Alida radiates like a nice little stove. More whiskey sipping ends in a blink, then a soft, "Oh," to N'ky's words of April's dragon having caught his first green. "And yer not happy about it not bein' *you* there?"

N'ky shakes his head. "N-not so much that." More slurring there, following by a glug of whisky-laced klah. "We w-weren't ''e-exclusive''. I m-mean we're ''n-not'' exclusive. B-b-but it's ''w-weird''." He leans in against Alida, getting comfortable, inhibitions dropped a little to allow him to do so. "It's g-got me thinking about when it'll be ''me''. A-and m-maybe ''you''." He cants his head sideways, looking at the bluerider with puppydog-brown eyes. "W-would you l-let Ilicaeth fly Cailluneth, 'Lida?" Then, following a thoughtful little beat, "''I'd'' like that."

Sipping her whiskey, listening to N'ky talk, miss mellow Alida suddenly finds herself peering intently at the taller greenrider when he speaks so casually about their dragons in a mating flight together. If she were truly sober, the blonde might just finger her non-existent neck-tie and move on to another subject. But as it stands... "Uh... Weyrlin'masters said we can't really stop 'em from chasin' if they wanna'." For a moment, she *almost* blurts, 'But I can lock myself away,' but Ilicaeth - who's hiding from the rain under his ledge until his rider's ready to go home - senses the incipient 'fail,' and shuts his rider up for a moment with a mental warning. After a bit of disfocused eyes, the woman winds up murmuring, "What happens happens. 'caeth ain't interested in girls that way, yet."

"I've g-got a few more m-months at least before... b-before..." N'ky blushes as he pulls an uncomfortable face, pointing upwards with an index finger. "A-and I'm not r-ready. N-not yet. I d-don't want to sleep," it sounds almost like 'schleep' as the booze takes further hold of him, "with s-strangers b-because Cailluneth w-wanted their ''dragon''." He snorts derisively, bumping against Alida's shoulder. "W-would you rather it w-was with a ''friend'', or s-someone you don't know?"

"Yer keepin' an eye on 'er, then?" the woman murmurs, trying not to grin at N'ky's blush, and tossing back the rest of her whiskey in a large swallow that makes her skin pinken for a few moments. It's then that the server brings back their new drinks, asks for the small payment, and gives Alida more time to compose herself for her upcoming answer, which happens once the girl leaves again. "Not ready... Oh." A rub of her forehead, and soon that seven-n-seven is lifted to her lips, sipped at. "If she wants a certain dragon, only happenstance'll keep 'er from choosin' 'im." Siiiigh, sip. "I wish it 'weren't' at *all*." Eyeroll, chug.

"Eurgh. Me ''too''." N'ky raises his glass to chink it off Alida's in a cheers to that - no mating flights would be ''far'' more convenient for all involved. "Wh-what if we end up w-with someone we don't ''like''?" He makes a disapproving noise for that thought, then waves his hand loosely, dismissing it. "Pfftt who cares. It'll ''h-happen''. It m-might be ''good''." A sudden change of tune from his is no doubt brought on by the drink. And, speaking of, N'ky pokes at the glass set down in front of him. "Wh-wha's ''this'', 'Lida-love?"

Let her think about that a moment. Ahh. "Then you kick' em out forceably." Her own barriers are lowered a bit, which allows the bluie to say aloud, "I wonder who'd get in the first swing if I had the utter misfortune ta' wake up next ta' Sabella." There's some dark sniggering into her tall, thin glass before she sips at her drink again. "That's a shallow shot uv' layered liquors. Sweet 'n strong. Pound it back; it'll..." Wait. Whut? Blink. "What'd you call me?"

"'Liiiiida." N'ky emphasises the vowel, exaggerated mouthing of it and all. "A''liiiii''da. 'Liiiiida." He picks up the shot, holding it up to eye level and peering at it with curious caution - a look that leaves him squinty-eyed and wrinkle-nosed. "P-pound it back. P-p-''pound'' it." A nervous swallow precedes him knocking the drink back - and he chokes and splutters after it, tongue sticking out in protest.

Okay; he's starting to get honestly drunk, and she's drifting well-over into buzzed. It's time for shut-down mode to soon commence. "Yep..." the blonde notes dryly to the greenrider, Alida smirking softly at N'ky spluttering, then murmuring to him, "Imagine if I'd ordered ya' more whiskey." The shot was indeed layered with sweet, rather good-tasting bands of different liquors, as she promised. "C'mon with me, toots," is factored in to the other weyrling, the guard fishing out a tiny wooden coin from one of her belt pouches, then leaving it on the table for their server before she pushes slowly and evenly to her feet. After getting a solid foothold, the bluie wraps an arm around N'ky's torso, attempting to brace him to follow her out of the bar.

N'ky grumbles in protest to the attempt to leave, even if he is standing up and swaying a little beside his friend. "Mmmph, but my ''klah''." A grabby-handed attempt hooks the mug, and he downs a sizeable gulp before pulling a face at the taste of it. Alida's arm is leaned into gratefully then, and he curls both of his around her chest, setting his chin atop her head as he squeezes her in a hug. "'Lida 'Liiida 'Liiiiida''." Sing-song-like, following the tune of a Harper's nursery rhyme, ending with an over-loud, rough kiss to the spot where his chin was, lips pressed to her pale hair with an exaggerated 'mwah'. "Am I coming with you?"

"It'll taste..." Too late. "Yeah, not so good," Alida adds on after N'ky makes that face. She feels silly and a little tense at N'ky's small manhandling of her, but what's a body to do when their bud is schnockered? A gusty sigh follows his smooch to her noggin', the blonde then offering a soft snicker at the scene they're creating even as she steers her taller weyrling companion towards the ledge and exit. "Yep." And out and down the few ledge steps she'll carefully, patiently lead the greenie, up to where Ilicaeth now crouches down before them as low as possible. "Think y'c'n shimmey up 'is leg?" The blue is somewhat larger than Cailluneth, but not by leaps and bounds.

N'ky's very much leaning against Alida, his arms still curled around her in a hug and probably making it even more awkward to get him to move. By the time they're down the steps and Ilicaeth's there in front of him, he squints up at the blue, points a finger at him, and then clears his throat several times before he can speak. "I'm.... I-I'm going h-home with ''you''." The pointing finger is waggled, then he grabs hold of the blue's straps to haul himself clumsily up - except he pauses with one foot still on the ground, before hollering up into the air, all sing-songy again as he stretches out his vowels: "Caaailluuuuuneth?" She must answer him mentally, because he starts chuckling, clinging onto the straps with one hand so he can waggle his finger in amusement at Alida. He doesn't share the joke, but he does, with a slip or two, pull himself up onto Ilicaeth. When his friend's up beside him, he tries leaning back to rest his head on her shoulder. "C-can I stay with you t-tonight, 'Lida?"

"Whatever..." Alida mumbles at her pal, eyeing N'ky as he wobbles up Ilicaeth's straps, the woman prepared to try and help him if he fails. The call aloud to his green precipitates another loud sigh, and the blonde's climbing up to put herself behind her passenger, instead of before him, the suddenly belching woman snapping a couple of c-rings from said straps upon his belt, then two on her own. Good luck resting your head on her shoulder in this position. "Why the shell'd ya' wanna do that?" Wrapping her own arms around the drunken greenie, the guard is decent enough to note aloud, "Okay, Ilicaeth. Up ya go!" just before the blue spreads his bronze-marked wings wide, and then launches his tough body upward explosively.

Clamping one hand down over Alida's wrist, and grasping at the straps with his other, N'ky is ''almost'' braced for it when Ilicaeth takes off, though he's still knocked somewhat back into the bluerider with an 'oof' of surprise. He looks back over his shoulder at her, then leans back against her to make his voice more easily heard. "Yooou c-can c-come stay in my weyr, a-and we'll h-have some m-more wh-- ''oh''. I-I don't, um... I h-haven't got anything to dri--- ''your'' weyr, we'll go to ''your'' weyr, and we'll have a ''sleepover'' with wh-whisky and ''cookies''. Do you h-have cookies, 'Liiiida?"

She was readied for N'ky's heavy bump back into her, the blonde taking the contact in stride, then noting blandly to her passenger, "No cookies. No whiskey..." Once he's airborne, Ilicaeth - who offers the occasional silent commentary to his rider - takes the memory of the proper ledge from his rider's mind, and wings them over to the greenie's home, finally backwinging, and landing with surprising grace upon said ledge. Is Cailluneth home? No matter, the blue's couching down slowly again, and Alida unfastens herself, then N'ky, and shimmies down first, readying herself to catch him when his turn comes, if necessary. "Easy does 'er."

Cailluneth wasn't home, but she isn't far away, moonbathing on a nearby ledge. Her rainbow thoughts reach out to Ilicaeth when he lands on her ledge, a gentle request for him to move over - or to move ''in'', there's definitely an invitation for him to stay in amongst her silver-kissed colours - so she can land on the tight little space too. N'ky's descent is not the most graceful, but he lands on his feet and stays there, despite a little swaying and clutching at Alida's shoulder to keep himself upright. The taller teen leans down to look at her, head canted to one side and a sappy, crooked smile on his rosy-flushed face. He holds out a hand for hers, tilting his head towards the couch so they can get out of the permanently cold wind that gusts over the ledge, made all the more bitter by the falling tempartures.

Once he's safely landed, Ilicaeth obliges his sister by sidestepping over to allow her some room to land, the blue watching over his passengers...even extending one wing to partially buffer them from winds, as well as keep them away from the very side of said ledge. And Alida holds steady to keep her wingmate from staggering around, walking alongside of him and into the pair's weyr. After steering the young man towards his bed, the guard attempts to settle him down in a sit upon it, then noting casually to Nicky, "Gear off, boots off, under the covers..." and following it with a soft belch. Giggle.

N'ky bumps off the runnershoe curve of his weyr plenty of times as they make their way around to the little bed chamber, which leads to plenty of giggling - though nothing builds the giggles quite like Alida's orders. They become a little nervous then, but he sits on the edge of his bed to do what he's told... or at least to take off his damp boots and jacket, anyway. He's halfway through struggling to unbutton his shirt when he stands again, finger-waggling at Alida and attempting to boop the end of her nose, which takes a whole lot of concentration and one-eyed squinting. "H-how ''much'' gear? A-and ''you''," down the finger goes, pointing at her boots, "have to t-take ''those'' off. No boots in ''my'' bed!" He kicks his to the side of the stone-carved bed base, then flops back onto the edge of it, falling onto his back with his feet planted on the floor. "'Lida 'Liiida 'Liiiiida," he sings again, lifing his head just enough to peer at her, before dropping back down again.

"Have a *little* bit uv' class..." Alida notes around a huff when N'ky goes to boop her nose, the woman darting under it, then smirking a little. "As long as ya' keep yer shorts on, I'm good." And just as she's about to crouch down and mess with her own boots, the greenrider flops backwards into his bed, which might just seem to be spinning slightly - or rocking a little - at this point. "Git..." is noted around a snert, the woman simply standing back up, stepping over to him, and using his legs and her tough strength to pivot him about into a more proper sleeping position. And then his blankets are tugged out, and settled over his tall frame, the guard noting, "Y'might have a hangover in the mornin'. Just depends." His soft and sing-song calls of her name have the woman facepalming and trying not to snicker, even as she hipchecks N'ky over, and sits down on the side of his bed.

Tucked in under the blanket, N'ky smiles with almost gushy warmth at Alida, before he starts wiggling free of his clothes. He's less shy when he's covered up, and soon his leathers, socks and shirt are dropped out from under the bed, leaving him in just his underwear. Booze must have emboldened him a little, because he's hardly blushing - save for the alcohol-induced rosiness to his cheeks - when Alida sits down and he rolls over towards her. "Y-you can borrow my shirt, 'Lida, i-if you want?" Whether or not one of his shirts would /fit/ Alida is another matter, given how skinny (and flat-chested) he is. He yawns hugely, not attempting to stifle it as he stretches like a sleepy feline. "C-come to bed a-a-and I'll k-keep you warm?"

"I'm workin' on it..." the woman murmurs to her wingmate. "Gotta stay sittin' up fer a little bit, 'r the booze makes me burp up stomach acid."She too yawns softly in answer to N'ky's own expression of tiredness, the blonde shucking off her jacket and belt, and tossing them to the floor nearby. "I'll use yer shirt..." is noted, even as she shifts about, settles her back against whatever might act as a headboard, and kicks her feet up. Already her eyes are closing.

N'ky wriggles over to her side, looping an arm lightly over her hips and resting his head against her arm. He exhales a long, booze-laced breath, nestling in against Alida with his eyes closed, and his lips slightly parted. He looks comfortable enough if she'll allow him to stay like that, though he's concerned with herbeing comfortable, too. "C-can you sleep like that, 'Lida?" he whispers hoarsely, not bothering to move anything other than his lips to speak to her. "Y-you can, um, c-come down here to c-cuddle, if you w-want. I'm n-not going to... t-to... t-to ''y'know''..."

"Yeah, I know..." Alida mumbles softly. "I'll come down when I c'n be sure uv not eatin' my stomach acid. Thanks sugar." A small bit of a smile presages a soft sigh, and soon enough the more regular and slower, even intake of breath as the bluerider transitions from consciousness into sleep. One of her hands rests at side, the other upon the uppermost of the greenie's shoulders. At no point does the guard snore.

Satisfied that Alida will make herself comfortable, N'ky nestles more closely into her side, curling his arm a little tighter around her to be sure he's got hold of her. There's one more yawn from him, stifled against her upper arm, before he, too, starts to drift off to sleep. He might snore, just a little, and just gently. On the ledge outside, Cailluneth remains catching the silvery light of the moons upon her faded hide, ignorant of the snow. It's only when N'ky falls asleep that she gets up to move into the couch, padding around in a circle again and again until she flops down to rest her head on her tail. Ilicaeth is invited to join her if he will; she'll even entertain cuddles, if he's interested.

It's about an hour or so after Cailluneth beds down and N'ky falls asleep that Alida's awoken by the small pain of her neck being cricked, and by Ilicaeth sluggish summons. The still buzzing woman sighs at having to give up warmth and sleep, though soon enough she slowly, quietly, efficiently rises - gently moving the greenie's arm, if needed - and redons her gear. A fond, sisterly look is awarded to the drunken and very likely deeply sleeping young man, the guard then slipping back outside to Ilicaeth, who's soon winging her back to her own weyr. Better to deal with her issues alone.
