== Face in the Shadows Egg ==
Dull, non-metallic yellow-bronze shades the shell of this mid-sized egg, touched here and there by a greenish sheen. Although that backdrop itself is relatively unpatterned, there are other shadings, like not-quite-black shadows that hint at an embedded face. There’s a narrow nose, here, and unseeing eyes, there, and then a strange horse-shoe like arch that outlines itself like a headband or helmet; and yet, from a different perspective those shapes are nothing so obvious, blending back into that sepia-toned backdrop like the mere random striations they are.

''It may well be a relief when that unnerving egg that looks like it has a face in it finally splits apart. What falls out of the egg, however, looks like it should be judged by its cover: a skeletal looking bronze rises from the shards of the Face in the Shadows Egg.''

== Unnerving Skeletal Bronze Hatchling ==
Unnerving is the first word that might spring to mind when regarding this bronze. He’s not a pretty dragon in any sense of the word; the line of his body is thin, almost gaunt, angular lines painting him a manner that almost looks skeletal. His bearing is not so much awkward as /different/, and whatever gets his attention gets his whole, undivided look, one expressed less by the whirl of his eye than the brooding, intent spectre of the dragon as a whole. Painted like a thin layer over his skeletal frame, the overall tone of his hide is a dark, tarnished bronze, broken up by patches of black that appear in jagged, slashing gestures along wingsails and his main body. Wickedly sharp talons glitter wetly and shade to ivory white, stark against the dark hue of him.

== Temperament ==
There is no doubt; Thrakth is a frightening creature, both terrifying and amazing at the same time. It may be some time – if ever – that the touches of his cold, shadowy thoughts don’t make you shiver in reaction. Weyrlinghood will be difficult, as the bronze is demanding and sure of himself, expecting you to obey him. He will push you to new things, new limits you didn’t expect even possible, and he will teach you many new things about yourself – things you didn’t know, and things you didn’t know you could do.

Weyrlinghood will prove the long battle for supremacy. Thrakth is no shrinking violet; he knows exactly what he wants, and he expects you to give into him. << You will bring me more food. >> “But the Weyrlingmaster says-” << YOU WILL! >> The cold of his demands will be difficult to refuse even when you know the pain both you and he will face later. In the early days, especially, you’ll find it easier to give in, easier to let him have his way and suffer through the aftermath together. The first to betray him – be it another dragon, a person, or even you – will never be forgotten, an incident that he will worry at like a sore tooth long after it’s passed. Betrayal will be something that will sour and darken his thoughts, and /those/ moods will be a burden that you just may find leaves you all the stronger for it once passed.

Thrakth is not just a fearsome creature to you, however. The longer you know him, the more you’ll come to understand what drives him. While he doesn’t draw attention to it, he has an almost blind loyalty to those he defines as family. As a weyrling, this will be his clutch siblings. Once you graduate, though, this will inevitably become his fellow wingmates, who – while they might find your brooding bronze unsettling – will never question his dedication to them. He will see the power of others – the Weyrleader’s bronze, the Wingleaders – and his jealousy of their station might well drive him to push you to seek the same, whether you want it or not. << This is how it must be, D'medor. How it is meant to be. >> You’ll find it exceedingly difficult to change his mind, once set, and his determination might well drive you to distraction.

You may well find that at times, just when you feel you’ve gotten comfortable in your relationship, Thrakth continues to surprise even you. There will be moments, found through fleeting glimpses and unexpected insights, that lets you see into the inner core of the dragon who will be yours for the rest of your life. While he pushes you, sometimes against your wishes, his determination on your behalf is borne out of love. Then, too, he may show unexpected compassion that – in contrast with his generally terrifying nature – might well leave you unsettled and uncertain.

In flights, Thrakth’s gauntness and smaller size for a bronze will prove him somewhat of an unexpected favorite when tempting greens, and his aggressiveness might well leave other suitors reluctant to try and compete with him in future. He is drawn, in particular, to those he defines as family or feels a kinship to; he won’t chase everything that glows, and should he win, his attentions don’t linger overly long. Queens will be a draw he’ll find difficult to resist; in a gold’s flight he feels the draw of power just out of reach, a potential for change and influence that floods his mind and drives you to distraction. Sands-tending will not really prove to be his thing, though he’ll likely want to pay enough attention to his mate to keep in her good graces.

Thrakth, while not the most social of dragons, will prove to miss very little: he is observant, and he /remembers/ better than most. He’ll also pull memories from you with the blink of an eye, reminding you of this or that when it suits him. This attention to detail will prove both distracting – because his recital of how Eliyaveith’s disappointed him in some fashion will become a regular trait – and interesting, when the tidbits he provides is information you weren’t privy to. While given to observation, this doesn’t mean stillness; there is much to learn, and it is not done by hiding in one’s weyr. While he might not enjoy Vhaeryth’s words of wisdom, Elaruth’s maternal tendencies, or Isyath’s boundless enthusiasm, such things can be borne for the sake of learning and growing to take his place. Life with your new bronze will be frightening, but also enlightening and never dull.

== Mindvoice ==
Thrakth’s thoughts are like a brooding blackness, stealing the life from the air and the breath from your mouth. The flutter and snap of black robes brushing through your mind as he taunts; the creeping, inevitable sensation of shadow filling the portions of your mind, both dark and light as he presses; a cold that leeches warmth comparable to that of between when he angers. Even in Thrakth’s lightest moments, these are the sensations that make him, and while they may never make you feel comfortable, you will learn to adjust to the sensations, and even the lighter, rarer moments where glints of determination and loyalty spark through his thoughts.

Thrakth is a brutal, brooding savage, just as you requested, with a stern sense of loyalty. He is a mixture of the brutal and loyal Hound, Sandor Clegane from Game of Thrones and Cesare Borgia’s sense of familial duty and ambition. His mindvoice is borne of the Nazgul of Tolkien’s novels.
