Violent splashes of scarlet and orange burn their way across this blindingly bright egg, and wend a fiery trail through blackened rocklike patches. Towards the base of the egg the colours tend toward the pale of yellows, adding to the illusion of heat as it swallows up the shell. The tip is duller, crusted in brown and cracked by the same fierce heat that sears the base of the shell, but under control for the time being.

''The Birthed from Fire Egg is utterly still for a long moment as a power builds within its confines. The growing might of the hidden inmate finally causes movement and the egg rumbles as the forces of nature prove too much to sustain. A veritable eruption of cracks sends a cascade of shards raining down to the dark sands below. The occupant bursts forth with eager energy, leaving a miniature mountain range of shell in his wake.''

==Fearless Foothills Brown==

The craggy profile is an ocherous brown, the color of freshly-turned earth spilling over a brawny torso in barrows of shade. Burly and bold of figure, his limbs are less elegant than resilient, form following function in this incarnation. The steeply angled shoulders deepen into loam, broad as a mountain range, while infrequent patches of rocky granite cap the jagged ridgeline of his neck. Russet fire spills backwards from the bluntly wedged head, rugged features limned in a ruddy profusion before being shadowed by earthen shades. The tilt of neck is roughly shaped, no fine elongation but a surplus of muscled strength blending into the sinewy shoulders and the gauche bulk of a sedimentary barrel. The wide span of his wings is a panorama of specks and flecks, an aggregate of gravels and oaks that are rimmed by foothills of musculature at their powerful base. The hindquarters are a proud amalgam of bald-faced granite and swarthy lager, the rich brown hue seeping in a good-natured spill over the rock-like dimensions of his haunches. Flinty talons tip the end of blunt limbs, their axe-like curve a hazardous beauty of blue-gray color. He is a rough-hewn shape from weathered muzzle to harshly delineated tailtip.

==Temperament==

Sulizath lives to put his efforts into a great cause. While you, Fadra, are the foundation of his unflagging fidelity, your lifemate has a keen interest in putting that flint-taloned paw in any worthy task that comes his way. << Fadra, we will be part of this quest to re-decorate the Weyrlingmaster's Office. Of everyone in the class, you have the best hand with severed fish heads. >> He delights in the completion of each endeavor and every class presents a challenge. << Fadra, we triumphed over that firestone! Misbegotten rocks shall not prevail over us. >> His early turns are filled with crusade after crusade and Sulizath will certainly keep your hands full. He can be a bit of a worrier at times, his fussy suspicions about a particular task never hesitating to be voiced, something that can often exasperate his cohorts. When the task does turn out to be incident-free and wonderfully successful, he is likely to boast his sure knowledge of that, too. Comic relief may not be the initial point of his actions, but it tends to be a frequent end-result. While he may be the first to profess his qualms, he is nonetheless the first to dive into the fray, throwing himself into the mix in a 'live, or die trying' mentality. Melancholy doubter inevitably gives way to exultant champion; he cannot back down from a challenge or, for that matter, a confrontation. Your steadying influence on his emotions is critical in his youth, and will give way to a more temperate dragon in his adulthood

As an adult, Sulizath is constant in his attentions to one thing: you. Never far from his mind, you are his lodestone, the center of his universe. While his unending adventures have graduated from searching for a way to hide that gift of a herdbeast carcass under your cot to finding the best oil to accentuate his bulging musculature, they are still a part of him. He'll probably always retain the urge to glorify the mundane jobs, needing something villainous to combat for the sake of his lady, his Fadra. Weyrlinghood days of fussing and gloomful forecasting have been tempered with the wisdom of age and no little help from you, but Sulizath still tends to worry. << Fadra, do you have your riding belt buckled securely? It's a long way down, >> might be one such dire warning for your safety. Once safely buckled, however, you might be treated to a nauseating overture of barrel-rolls and loop-de-loops that few get to experience. A side benefit to his smaller, but stronger size, he has power in flight beyond that of his larger, leaner brown brothers. Regardless of his worries, Sulizath is the first to dive in and tackle the mission. His enthusiasm is infectious, and success seems to follow hot on his heels for any job he takes on.

Flights are the greatest of all quests, the pinnacle of all adventures. The glorious attentions of females are a sweet reward whether it's during a flight or not. Though he may not be the most refined in form, a silver tongue is hidden in that russet muzzle. Gentle speech and graceful wording is a talent that seems to slip from him with unexpected ease for any green or gold who will listen. And not just a pretty talker is Sulizath, he's more than willing to show off what all that muscle can do in the air. During flights, he will pull out all the stops, throwing himself into the heat of battle. Winning is a moment to be cherished, and he can often be found languishing in the aftermath, glorying in the festivities and all that go with it. 'Work hard, play hard' is his motto and he is hardly willing to cut short the revelry just because the flight is over and won.

Drills and sweeps are more jobs that Sulizath dives into vigorously. He is a valuable member of any wing, content to be a stolid supporter of others or to charge with gusto into the lead as the occasion warrants. His compact brawn is surprisingly quick and he will hardly pass off a chance to let everyone see just how impressive he can be. While those firestone sack drills may not be /your/ favorite, he is all swift eagerness and hard-edged impatience for those exhausting mid-air maneuvers. In fact, anything concerning firestone is a particular favorite of his. He is eager for every mouthful of the phosphine rock and proud of every belch of flame. And if the older dragons' tales of flying in Fall give him a case of envy, he channels it easily into his dedication to the tasks at hand. His keen sense of duty, integrity, and penchant for a job well done make him eminently suitable for searchriding, search and rescue, anything that gives him a way to make his stubby-pawed print on the world.

==Public Impression Message==

Fearless Foothills Brown pauses in his rampage, slowing the charge to find that elusive lure that's pulled him in a merry chase. The russet muzzle dips closer to a petite sailor with hazel eyes and he claims her as his own, binding them together.

==Private Impression Message==

The blackness of the hatching sands seems to envelope all vision, starry crystals of light glittering at the periphery of sight. Senses retreat to primitives; skin thrumming with sensation, ears ringing in the silence. The air seems to grow denser and oppressive pulsations thrum through the very atmosphere to settle in your core. What starts as a trickle, like tiny stones and pebbles, quickly grows, surrounding you with a rush of sound that is almost frightening. But there is such security in stone. << I have named my desire, and found it, >> a voice comes rumbling through. << You. >> The avalanche of noise comes to sudden stillness. << I have found you. You are my devotion, Fadra and I am your Sulizath. >>

==Mindvoice==
Sulizath's sound is less audible than sensory. The rumbling of a landslide, a dense wave of sound that is felt under your skin before it is heard; the sonorous grating that comes from a rush of gravel and boulders crashing down a rocky cliff's face. But along with that rumbling resonance is a secondary feel of solid security. His mindvoice offers the comfort of sturdy shelter, supporting and protecting you with each syllable. At such times the howl of frigid wind is but an echo that cannot reach you.

==Inspiration==
This dragon is based on Gimli, a proud and loyal member of the Fellowship in J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' stories. He is a fiercely protective, feisty, and sometimes doom-predicting dwarf and his subterranean race is spin off of the 'underground' theme of the clutch. Much as Gimli dedicated his life to helping friend after friend, so does Sulizath devote his time to the most worthy of causes, you in particular. You are his Galadriel, the lady to whom his undying loyalty and praise will never wane. He is intensely loyal, tenacious to a fault, and tends to suffer a bit of melodrama when it comes to worrying. A fusspot at times, his feisty 'call-a-spade-a-spade' attitude usually seems to triumph over obstacles in the end.

==Name==
Sulizath (SOO-lih-zath) - This name was inspired by Azanulbizar, the dwarf name for the valley of shadowed streams also know as Dimrill Dale. We wanted to give him a name based in the dwarf language and this one had a particularly interesting sound without being too obviously Tolkien. We also thought the optional nickname of 'Sully' was rather nice.
