|log=Lya has been scarce since that tearful day, but not because she's avoiding the bronzerider, but rather just because working for Irianke is comparatively much more time-consuming than her previous work. Given that she often ''didn't do'' her previous work, it's no stretch. It's with caution that she enters the weyr. With the strange frequency of greens rising in the past few days, it's probably a wonder she's showing up at all, given their agreement. It's definitely why she calls, "Should I come back later?" with an edge of concern.

Given his heavier breathing and occasional grunt of effort as she comes further into his weyr, Lya might get even more concerned. But H'vier says, "I'm alone," which might not help matters much unless she actually comes in enough to see that he's only doing push ups on the rug in front of the hearth. There's a decided lack of shirt involved in the exercise, but he's otherwise decent in a pair of loose pants.

That Lya hesitates before entering is progress. That she has one hand up to shield her eyes is predictable. "Are you ''decent''?" She queries dubiously in the moment before she peeks through her fingers, sees the pants covering the part of his skin she was concerned about seeing and there's visible relief. "I'm glad I didn't catch you after one of those greens." Never mind that there was one that ended not long before her arrival.

H'vier doesn't answer the question since he catches a glimpse of Lya's entrance on one of his pushes up. "He hasn't chased," is the answer he gives to the statement instead, though it suits the question, too. Even if he could be indecent regardless of the greens. "What's up?" is the prompt. She must be here for a reason.

"Good," Lya decides, moving around to sit on the couch. "I had some time. Haven't seen much of you lately." It's just a friendly visit. "And I've been thinking about what you said to me. About when Weyrwoman Irianke goes back to Igen." She looks at the bronzerider, "Would you let me trim your beard and hair?" At least she's straight-forward with her requests.

His head stays in a neutral position as he continues with his push ups. "Did you talk to her about it?" is his first question. His next is, "What?" Because he must not have understood her properly. H'vier even shifts now, drawing his knees forward on an up so he can sit back and look at her.

"No," don't be silly, her tone implies, her look impatient. "If I'm going to stay at the Weyr after she leaves, I'm going to need a different job. And I doubt a weyrling goldrider is allowed to have an assistant, so that's probably out." Lya chews her lower lip, "So I think I might want to be a hairdresser, only I need practice at cutting and trimming. And I don't have a beard, so I can't practice ''that'' on myself. And cutting one's own hair is unnecessarily difficult." This is said with resolve enough that it suggests she tried it and it went poorly. Her hair doesn't look worse for the trial anyway, though it is pulled back in a runners tail now so perhaps the damage simply can't be seen.

"A hairdresser," he repeats, sounding a little dubious. "I'm not sure if I trust you with sharp objects and ready access to my throat." Call H'vier paranoid, though he ''mostly'' sounds like he's teasing her. Mostly. He lays back, clasping his hands behind his head and drawing his knees up, ankles crossed, to start on a set of crunches. 

"Oh, c'mon, we've been over this. If I was going to kill you, I'd just poison your booze." Lya sniffs as if that's a totally commonplace thing to say, but she sounds just a bit like she's teasing too. She shifts on the couch a little, leaning more against the arm. She might just be uncomfortable, or she might be getting a better view. Then again, this is Lya, so… "The whole point of practicing is to get better. I'm going to be ''trying'' to do a good job. It would really help me out if you would." The way she says it probably doesn't intend to leave herself open for a bid of some kind of reciprocation, but it really does.

There's a snort from the bronzerider for her poisoning his booze, somewhere between amused and disappointed. Poison is such a girl thing to do. "Well." He begins, speaking between crunches. "I have a whole wing of people who could be encouraged into getting bad haircuts until you get better." He must not have a lot of faith in her current capabilities. "But, even if it were just me, I don't know if the risk is worthwhile." H'vier is quite fond of his beard and hair, after all. "What do you propose?"

"I don't want your wing full of strangers, I want you. I know you." Lya argues, frowning at H'vier like he should know better than to make such a silly offer. "I propose you let me trim your hair and your beard. If it doesn't work out the first time, you never have to let me again. But we ''are'' friends, so you should at least let me try." It's not really giving anything for what she's getting, but that's not really different from most of the rest of the things she gets out of their friendship, even if such things are fewer and farther between nowadays because she's been kept busy.

There's a falter in his rhythm just after Lya starts talking, but he recovers quickly enough that maybe she won't notice it was a thing. Silence follows for several moments after as he finishes the set, then he relaxes into laying flat on the rug. "''Fine''," is his not completely happy answer. He knows he's getting the shit end of the deal here, but he can't even ask for his usual recompense. 

She smiles, brightly. "You won't regret it," she sounds sure, but is probably just hoping. Lya rises from the couch and moves to stand next to him a moment, looking down at the bronzerider. "I should get back." There's a pause, and then, "You wouldn't want to buy me a set of hair cutting tools, would you? I mean, I could use the really dull one from the stores…" She effects contemplation a moment before looking hopefully down at him.

"I'm almost positive I'll regret it," corrects H'vier, but maybe not only because of the damage she could cause. "I'll think about it," is added for the rest. "Get out of here." The last is good-natured even if he makes a gesture to shoo her off.

Lya must take his thinking about it as an inevitable 'yes' to her request, for she beams at him a moment and then with an, "Okay," she bounces on off toward the ledge, calling back, "Call me a ride, please?" At least she's saying please.
