  Omnipresent clouds of steam slink across the tops of three naturally warm 
  pools, set into the floor of this kidney-shaped cavern. Near the entrance 
  the ceiling is high and polished, gleaming with little mineral specks as  
  it sweeps downward into increasingly ragged, uneven steps. The foremost of
  the pools is squared off with wide steps leading down into the water and  
  has faucets for bringing in cooler water from a rain-catching cistern.    
  Primarily used for laundry, there's an almost constant film of suds along 
  its surface until the circulating current clears it at the end of the day.
  Four sinks line the nearest wall and various tubs stored beneath allow for
  the washing of delicates. Laundry bags can be dropped off in the bins near
  the door and clean, folded laundry is stacked in rows of tall cubbies for 
  easy pickup.                                                              
                                                                            
  The bend in the cavern leads to a rougher-hewn part of the chamber where  
  the two circular bathing pools welcome those in need of a wash. Towels and
  washcloths are kept in neat stacks on shelves along the wall, along with  
  sacks of sweetsand and a few bars of precious soap. Stone benches provide 
  a place for sitting to remove shoes and clothing, while a row of gleaming 
  brass hooks stand above, ready to hold clothes and robes.

|log=It is a little bit later in the evening than usual, but there are still those few stragglers occupying the room. Amongst them is Edyis, soaking on one of the pools with a basket nearby with various bathing implements. She's mostly submerged at the moment, the tops of her shoulders visible, and her hair slicked back and still wet, showing signs of recent scrubbing.
Leova strides heavily inside, not ''quite'' a limp. She slows as the air thickens. Pushes back her hair one-handed. Settles onto a bench not far from Edyis. That air, too, carries the quiet accent to her voice as she speaks to her white-haired neighbor. Quiet, familiar.

It is the sounds of footsteps that has her dark eyes opening, and recognition has her glancing in Leova's direction from the corner of her eye. The heaviness of stride is observed, but not commented on. "Leova," is Edyis's soft greeting.

Amber eyes lift, but don't ''search''. Just look. The greenrider says nothing until she's out of her clothes. Into the pool, favoring that ankle along the way. Then it's, "Edyis," breathed out into the mist. The water laps up to her chin.

She doesn't stare, at least not in the rude sense, but the path from the bench to the pool is watched, dark brows drawing together. "Sprain?" Edyis wonders then aloud. Adjusting to be able to comfortably converse with the older woman. "Rough day?"

"Acting up." Leova hitches a shoulder, there under the water. "That cave-in. Back a ways. Where were you, then?"

"Candidate dormitories." Edyis answers, faint lines creasing her brow. "I can't even imagine what it must have been like for the people inside." She states softly, "I know even after, things were rough for some." Dark eyes shift over to study Leova's expression in that moment. "It still hasn't healed properly?" Concern edging her voice.

Another of those shrugs, seen mostly by the water's ripple. Not off-putting, or not off-putting ''Edyis''. The injury itself, perhaps. "Just more, hm. Vulnerable. For its happening again." It isn't a lesson, but Leova's here, Edyis is here. "Happens with dragons, too: problems come back. Akluseth, he good? Pass the sweetsand," please.

There's a distinct thinning of Edyis's mouth for the word vulnerable. She stands, then, revealing the inked flames tattooed from hip to up ribcage, fetching the bag of sweetsand and passing it over with care. "He is himself. Happy, troublesome, not entirely aware of his limitations." The last has a laugh bubbling in the dark eyed woman's throat as she reclaims her seat.

"Bothers you," Leova sees. "Thanks." Sweetsand. Her gaze catches on the ink, but all she takes is the bag, sitting up to scoop some out to her palm.

"Akluseth? Or the idea that an old injury means it is more likely that the same type will occur?" Edyis asks, reaching over to pull the comb from the basket and start working it through her hair.

"Latter," Leova says, wry. "Don't thrill me none either. Glad ''he's'' well." She secures the sack where it can stay dry before working on scrubbing. The redwort on her hands isn't dark today, but a few days' old stain.

"Seems like if you go through all the pain, and then the work to make sure things heal back properly, being vulnerable to the exact same thing is just plain unfair." She sulks, but she watches the process curiously.

"Aye. Got to get back with my exercises." Leova, ''not'' thrilled. "Took a step the wrong way, and. Well." The process of washing up, at least, is nothing unusual. "Saw your marks. Story there? That you want to share."

Edyis's expression is a sympathetic one. "Just walking normally or is there a story in there somewhere?" She wonders with a smile. For the ink, there's another one. "Always loved the idea of the body as a canvas, ever since I laid eyes on that one weird guy who used to sleep in the greenhouse all the time." There's a half shrug, "That one, was my graduation present to myself." 

There's a purse of her lips and a laugh, "Ironically, as a reminder that some old hurts do heal. And that ''generally'' the people who experienced them are stronger for it." Her expression going a little wry as her nose wrinkles.

"Normally," like that's ''worse''. Leova's quiet. "Remember him. Wonder what... well. Nice present, anyhow." Her laugh is quiet too. That low, smoky alto. "Glad you got someone good. Know some folks as had it gone wrong, infection and the like. Wonder what Anvori would say, did I turn up marked up like that."

Edyis grimaces a little at normal, or maybe it's just the way Leova says it. "Yeah, I wondered that myself." She grins almost mischievously, then, "I don't know what his tastes are, but I've never gotten a complaint. Mel does good work, and he's pretty thorough on care instructions. Helps too, that I've got a friend whose all inked up, so he was able to suggest a few things too." There's a grin, then, "What would you get if you did?"

"Mel, hm?" Leova's got a tired smile in answer. "Don't know as I know. Vrianth... ''might'' be particular. Is. 'Might' about this too, I mean... Seems like it says a lot about a person. Done right. Don't know what I'd want mine to, as what people couldn't see already."

"I think Alida got Ilicaeth across her back." The smile noted quietly. "I don't know that I ever worried much about what it might say to other people, especially since mine are in places people only see in the bath, or... well." She smiles, as she finishes up her hair, pulling herself from the water and grabbing a towel to start drying. "Of course if you want to make a statement there's that too."

"Commitment for a commitment." Leova muses over this. "Suppose... Well." Edyis is getting out anyway. ''She'' hasn't even rinsed. She doesn't track Edyis' getting ready to go. She does say, 
"Thanks. Edyis. Seen plenty of 'em around, but you actually had me thinking thrice."
Edyis grins, "I love them. At least the ones that are done well. It's painful though, and if you don't do the after care..." Working the towel at her hair. "But If it's something you're considering, I would suggest something that means something to ''you.''"

"Would think so, aye. Got to live with it a long time, the idea would be." Leova nods once, firmly, then just as firmly focuses for the rest of her stay on getting clean.
