Dusk and cloud, storm and smoke. Twilight smoothes ripples of muscle over long limbs, camouflaging the inherent sharpness of talon and the fine lines of this blue’s form. Cyclones gather at the crest of his neck, claiming his broad head in umbral hues. Opalescent eyes glitter mischievously out from the darkness, a single lightning crack illuminating one headknob. Greedy fists of thunder drop down tendon-wired neck, seeking out the dark horizon of his belly and the arch of his ‘spars. Smoke thins over the airy expanse of his wingsails, the color just deep enough to avoid true translucence. The midnight sky glosses his haunches, with pinpricks of starlight barely visible through the plumes of cloud caught in the wind’s capricious embrace. The lightning that struck his headknob licks along the peak of his sisal-sleek tail, bringing light to an otherwise inky ending.
