Feature characters are characters who have plot and leadership obligations to the area; they primarily include goldriders and Weyrleaders, but may include others. They do not have more OOC authority than other characters; rather, they have become integral to story.

These are the expectations of a feature character at High Reaches Weyr:

* Play a minimum of four scenes a month, with at least two different players (preferably more).
* Be available for Weyr/story-related scenes and discussion. If scheduling is hard, be flexible. If you are unavailable at a pivotal time, there may be times when actions are assumed on your character's behalf, though admins will certainly try to make them consistent with your character.
* Read your mail regularly. Where appropriate, respond promptly, preferably within 24 hours.
* Keep admins in the loop as to your RL. We never need details, and RL always comes first, but if something will be keeping you away from the game for a significant chunk of time, let us know so that we can define a timeline for your return.

Feature characters are additionally expected to display High Reaches' five [[Policy:Key_Behaviors|key behaviors]]: be generous; be positive; initiate; keep in touch; be flexible.

Feature characters will be audited on a monthly basis, with allowances for RL for up to two months. After this time, the admin team will retain the option to take over or demote the character.

Characters are rarely designed to last forever, even feature characters. We encourage players to retire characters who are loved but are at the end of their stories - and find new characters to love. Having held a feature position before has no bearing on whether you will or will not get one again.
