 Following Azaylia's accidental death, Irianke - now the only goldrider at High Reaches, despite her status as 'temporary' - stepped up to take her place. Although it was considered likely that Roszadyth, Niahvth's golden daughter, would rise first, it was Niahvth who took to the skies a turn ahead of schedule. K'del, High Reaches' long-term Weyrleader, was out of the Weyr at the time, but his Cadejoth returned alone for the flight... and caught the queen (perhaps even by accident) around the same time that his rider was stabbed in the back, while dealing with issues at Greenfields Hold. With K'del out of commission as he healed, Irianke promptly appointed blueriding Mielline as Acting Weyrleader.

Only six months later, an accident resulted in Z'ian's retirement; his last act, before being taken down south to recover, was to name K'del Acting Weyrleader.
