-T'mic and Jorrth have remained among the better pupils for ground formations and dragon-only flying, yet they're not among the first to go up for mounted flight. The reason? Straps. Just when it seemed like Jorrth would stop with the insane growth spurts already, he keeps outgrowing the straps T'mic has made for them. It's not so much that he's gaining length or height, but that he's changing shape, putting on a whole lot more bulk up front, especially in the shoulders. It's the third set that finally does the trick for them and sees them airborne. They are, of course, pretty decent at it, though there are the same wobbles of correction to adjust to both T'mic's added weight, and that big ol' hump of Jorrth's. He's strong, though, for a blue, and T'mic is not exactly quiet with his pride in that.

-Jorrth's been growing up a bit ''mentally'', this month, as well. Not just in that his voice is changing a little, cracking here and there when he's excited, or sometimes just because, and dropping a bit lower and scratchier than his youthful high pitches, but also in the way he's acting. He's always been enthusiastic, but his focus is getting more intense, more professional. He's friendly as ever, but starting to display a bit more wit as well, and and to test himself physically against some of the other dragons. Oh, he'll still lean his head against Roszadyth for some quiet time, but when he's at play now, he's headbutting and pushing and jostling with the other dragons, especially some of the bigger browns. He does try to keep it fun, because he's still Jorrth; and when he steps over a line, he'll feel remorseful, he'll apologise, he'll stop what he's doing in the moment. He's learning the balance here, too.

-By the end of the month, T'mic's writing will have improved enough that he's not just spending his time trying to re-copy his notes into something that resembles actual language, and he actually seems to enjoy attending the wingleader's meetings. The dance classes and formation whys and wherefors, too. Enjoying it, but still busy with it, still spending a lot of his time with homework or with oiling Jorrth. That he's not exhausted, with the sleep he's missing, probably comes purely from being in his early twenties.

-The extra work kept him home from the Fort hatching, and so he was there to (try) help comfort the clutchsiblings, alongside Jorrth, when the dragons keened. Of course, he hates dragon keening and it put him into an adrenal response, so how well this noble impulse went is anyone's guess. (And can be determined off-camera if anyone wants.)

It has probably been obvious to others that this is on account of friction between himself and L'sha, though A'rist of course thinks he's done well enough to conceal it. Between old blame for the incident that saw A'rist getting stitches in his leg, and, over time, a general frustration with L'sha's leadership style, the bronzerider spent most of his time trying to behave himself, but also discovering a steely unwillingness to bend to demands he found unreasonable, regardless of officially assigned rank. He has tried to behave himself in other aspects, which is perhaps why he's avoided weyrlingmaster intervention.

Lythronath's painting of his couch has remained consistent, and A'rist has carefully cleared the trails through the rest of the barracks, and the chunks of meat, and also carefully ''not'' cleared ''any'' blood from the entrance to his and his dragon's own personal sleeping area. He's managed some strange teenage alliances with others whose behaviour he might not otherwise have found acceptable (like Klohi), though he's not gotten overly close to anyone - with the noted exception of greenrider G'laer.

-D'kan and Sabella were chosen as Month Five's wingleader and wingsecond, respectively, during the month the weyrlings would first fly with their dragons.  As Flurry's leaders for the month, they were set to take the skies, given a sevenday's head start so they might be better able to lead. Unfortunately, Sabella took to the ground shortly after, just as D'kan and G'mli had settled onto the Star Stones.
-Hours after Sabella's accident, she and D'kan had a closed-doors discussion, the details of which have been kept fairly quiet. What isn't quiet is that the next day before drills, D'kan announced that while Sabella would not be able to perform aerial wingsecond duties later in the month due to her injury, she would still handle all other wingseconding duties, as able.  However, as the rest of the weyrling wing prepared for their own first trips into the air with their dragons, D'kan needed to choose a backup wingsecond to help with the airborne exercises once they reach that point, and for that he chose J'tor, fellow brownrider to birch-brown Adrovanth. J'tor is a little on the young side, in his mid-teens, but a local (and notably lacking a silver thread), while Adrovanth is calm and methodical.  Basically, the brown pair was a fairly safe choice for this tumultuous month.

-This month began much the same for K'zin. He kept his nose to the grindstone (or study book), avoided distraction and temptation but was surely the consummate professional when it came to weyrling duties. At the beginning of the month, he tested out of his remedial classes and found himself with time to spare. He approached Quinlys to ask for additional work to keep him busy and ended up asking about sitting in on the silver thread lectures/lessons. Since she said anyone could attend (not the Wingleader meetings or the special things, but the lectures), he started sitting in on them regularly. She also told him his punishment was complete, at last! ([[Logs: Leadership Potential]])

-The restoration of privileges and Sabella's accident, together, prompted him to pull his head out of his butt and stop avoiding everyone ([[Logs: If these were the last moments...]]). To his dismay, he had a lot of idiocy and hypocrisy to make up for ([[Logs: Apologies, Again.]]). As N'ky became more withdrawn, things between he and K'zin seemed to be at another low point. He kept up his hard work and added extra study time with the healers for first aid and anatomy to his roster of activities along with wrangling Craft apprentices to paint the back drops for Mave's play. He also has been vanishing at lunchtime a couple of times a seven, anyone following would lose him in the foot-traffic of the Inner Caverns at lunchtime.

-A number of interesting events occurred that might be rumored of, including a confrontation with N'ky ([[Logs: Confrontation]]) paired with a trip to the healers ([[Logs: Bruise Balm]]) and a near-miss at being reported for rule-breaking (even though it only seemed that he was) by I'zech (in two parts: [[Logs: Shame and embarrassment]] and [[Logs: Boots of... doom?]]), gaining a mentee in the form of a Craft apprentice ([[Logs: Artistic License]]), and a secret sucky turnday ([[Logs: Happy Turnday to Me]].

-N'ky's grades haven't improved this month; they may have even declined. Those still in remedial classes may talk about how he's failing pretty miserably, but no-one's likely to hear it from N'ky himself. If asked, he just brushes it off and changes the subject... if he's even around to be asked, that is. Outside of standard weyrling classes (which he's putting full effort into, even if he's not socialising much while doing so), he's rarely in the barracks. He's been spending mealtimes alone for the most part, though anyone who's spent time with him will notice that he barely eats anything, and only offers the bare minimum of interaction if he's approached. He's been spending most of his time somewhere in the Weyr with Cailluneth, normally at the far end of the lake, by the waterfall. She's very protective if anyone approaches, and if he's spoken to, N'ky quickly makes his excuses to leave.

-Prior to Sabella's incident, N'ky was hesitant about flying; after it, there was no sign of straps on Cailluneth and the pair made no attempts at a first flight.

-A failed attempt at reverse psychology from K'zin made N'ky sink even lower into his funk; an attempt on the bronzerider's behalf to apologise later led to Cailluneth broadcasting angrily across the Weyr that her weyrling was under threat, and an uncomfortable situation at the far end of the lake didn't make things any better. Despite N'ky giving K'zin a turnday present, he's still not talking to him.

-D'kan's attempt to pull him out of it did more good than he actually let on; N'ky perked up a little from his 'brother's' tough love approach, but it was Alida who did the most to drag him out of it.

-It wasn't until the very end of the month, day 27, that N'ky was finally called into the Weyrlingmasters' office for the inevitable chat about his performance, while Quinlys led the other weyrlings in an aerial drill. No-one's likely to know exactly ''what'' Meara and N'ky spoke about, but someone may have noticed Isath flying up and out of the Weyr with two passengers on her back, trailed by Cailluneth. Anyone with eyes on the bowl later that night will have seen a triumphant-looking teenager slipping down from his green's back after winging in over the bowl's rim. Their first flight was out of sight, out of the Weyr, but it definitely happened - and it's been hard to keep them on the ground since. N'ky's new favourite haunt, even more secluded than the far end of the lake, is the Star Stones.

-N'ky still hasn't tested out of his remedial history and maths classes, and another new development at the end of month five is private Harper lessons. When he's not there, he seems to have a renewed passion for studying ''other'' things... especially any journals on leadership, wings and so on that he can get his paws on.

-When this month began, Sabella was more than psyched to start her weyrling wingseconding duties. Unfortunately that fell apart to an extent when her riding straps failed her and she went tumbling to the ground of the bowl. She suffered a broken arm, bumps, scrapes and bruises. As well as an ego that’s certainly been taken down a notch or two. The healers say that it’ll be at least six weeks with her arm in a cast. She’s relatively chipper and has been allowing people to sign it, granted she doesn’t end up with anymore boobs and triangles on there. Thanks I’zech.

-With J’tor stepping in to take over the more physically active role of the wingseconding duties, she’s thrown herself into what remains for her to do. Some might say a little too fervently, but then she’s always been a little obnoxious that way. When she can’t participate in the airborne drilling she’s helping Quinlys out and delving further into her academics.

-Meanwhile her “social” life seems to have shifted. Right after candidacy she appeared to be quite friendly with both K’zin and N’ky. Though lately she hasn’t been seen talking to either very much outside of hello and goodbye and whatever their weyrling activities require from them. Instead she seems quite tight with E’sren, though it may be difficult to discern the exact nature of their relationship from the outside. And she’s not so open mouthed about it to just anyone. Early breakfasts are still largely spent with Telavi, where they gossip and giggle like teenage girls. Which hey, they are. And occasionally, a person might spot the weyrling spending time with Jo.

-Telavi and Solith have been looking forward to flying as a pair, and since Solith now knows how to fly and Telavi knows how to ride, of course it will be as easy as pie. Right?   Tela's settling into her workload better, living on little sleep and actuallly relishing some of the new information and even more so the ''arguing'' (as well as getting to be a vtol on the wall while the wingleaders meet). Solith has also begun to be lessoned by Rasavyth in how to get information from her rider, but she's still quite the neophyte. They can often be found around the lake, Solith ''in'' the lake and Tela haunting the diving cliff, with or without a variety of fellow weyrlings and occasionally others.

-In the immediate aftermath of Sabella's fall, Solith's distress at ''Ghislaith's'' distress was more short-lived and easily calmed, while Telavi, not present at the time and then kept out of the infirmary, was left to wring her hands and promise that she'd take notes for Sabs, really she would. (E'sren's would probably be better, though.)

-Partway through the month, Tela stopped overlooking I'zech so much. Near the end, she and Solith flew for the first time, something that could easily have been overlooked since so many of their clutchmates were already busy flying on their own... and it didn't go nearly as well as anticipated. The next day, Tela was called in for an end-of-lunch meeting with Meara. Isn't she lucky that it wasn't Quinlys?
