| log = E’gin had hoped sleep would cause the anger to subside more permanently than the bottle of wine he polished off by himself. It hadn’t, and it now cohabitated his mind with a powerful headache. He could remember little after the note was delivered, crumpled in his hand, discarded on the ledge of his weyr. Insult to injury.

Except for an over turned end table, usually settled just inside the entrance of the weyr, a drop spot for whatever was in his pockets when he entered, nothing seem out of place.

Half-squinted gaze settled firmly on the table causing a resurgence of the rage he had felt then. When, usually so contained, he had allowed unbridled emotion to overtake him, just for a moment. The rising of fury, the same as yesterday evening, causing a wave of nausea though the hung-over brown rider.

Vysravth, having neither the time nor the tolerance for his rider’s antics, rumbles through with no sympathy. His voice exploding through E’gin, long before he says anything, reverberating off the walls of the abandoned Weyr in their mindspace. The male is off balance, world tilting, quaking, even as he sits perfectly still. Which he can’t, not for long - not once the wrenching starts.

Moments later, still expelling what he hasn’t eaten yet this morning, Vysravth finally speaks to him. Thunders. Distant though, he’s made his point. << What will we do? >>

''That bitch. Doesn’t want to play by their rules, she says. Doesn’t want to be weyrwoman. That liar. What could she want with us?''

The emotion causing him to lean back over the bucket his body lurching forward with every heave. Finished, he reminds himself to stay composed, the hang-over providing at least some small service. ''I will see her.'' Does he have a choice? Will he have a choice in whatever she wants?

''No, but she has control of the weyrleader.'' The brownrider suddenly kicking himself for his assessment of K’del. ''Why would she sack Giorda?'' This perhaps disturbing him more than others. This, after the woman was willing to stick her neck out for goldrider, at his request - even if Iolene had reacted badly, very badly, to the idea - she wanted to help, or at least was willing.

His thoughts coming round full circle. If she really meant what she said at the end of Weyrlinghood. If she really didn’t want to be a weyrwoman, why didn’t she just step down? Let the weyr be, not cause a rift that was slowly disappearing to tear open again. Why doesn’t K’del do anything?

Why could no one else see what he sees about her? Maybe Vysravth was on to something. Maybe it isn't just female dragons who aren't to be trusted.

He would see her, if only to get answers. But for now he will crawl back into bed and sleep off the symptoms of a bottle of wine.
